STS first time!

Good morning!

I did disc 30 today. I feel like my weights are right where they should be, as I was struggling sometimes with that 7th rep, especially on triceps. I am loving Meso 3. I am going to try to squeeze in some abs later, I can't remember the last time I did them as a separate workout.

Anybody a basketball fan here? We are Celtics fans. Game last night was not good, but at least they won!

Carolyn, what happened to our warm weather? I know we need rain, but its not even doing that, just gray and gloomy. The weather definitely affects my energy levels.

Well....The grocery store was packed!!!!

Well....when I got back from grocery store, I put everything away. Made some lunch, ate.....and then I was exhausted. I felt like I could just fall asleep. SO, Summer(dog) and I layed down at 2:30---told my husband to get me up at 3:00 so I could exercise. Well....4:00 rolls around and then he woke me up. He said he wanted me to rest since I am always so busy!!!! So, I finished up some chores and ate dinner. Now I am off to workout!!! Gotta get my Cathe in!!!!

Carolyn---thats sounds aweful. It made my finger hurt just thinking about it. I am sure it will be tender to touch for a few days. I think men, just react differently to situtions.

Not much going on.....will check back after I exercise. :p
 
Garden update: I have so excited about all the veggies growing! I have several cucumbers and squash freshly picked today. I made a salad for my lunch Friday with a fresh cucumber and it was so good. Taste so much better than grocery store cucumbers. My tomato plants all have little green tomatos on them, so they are growing....just takes some time. Also, my watermellon vine started to flower today!!!! My corn is going crazy, it has corn silk shooting out everywhere. I am so just excited. I go out there everyday to check on my crops and I am just amazed. :D

Okay..I have to get off of this computer...and go exercise!

Marie---we were posting at same time....No help from me on the caffeine....no pregnancies!!! I look at the daily deal everyday, because I am waiting on 1 DVD to go on sale myself. So I will let ya know!!!! :D
 
Just completed my workout!!!! :p:p

Carolyn---I have done that before. That is where I like to read my magazines too!!! I have only dunked one magazine with help from Boots!!! He loves water, everytime I take a bath or shower he is right there with me. I wasn't kidding when I said he was a momma's boy!!! He goes everywhere with me (in the house). Like a little puppy! My husband always says he is or "small" dog!:p Make sure you dry out that magazing....it is a good issue!!!

I went outside, before I exercised and my husband was watering all the plants....I cut my knee open on the fence. I am accident prone!!! My husband also calls me "prone"!!!!! He then had to help me get inside to clean all the blood...yes is was gushing!!! So, we bandaged it and I went to exercise!!! It leaked a little, but now is all sealed up and looks good!!! :)

Evening ladies!

Not feeling so hot right now. For some reason my tummy's upset, I've had a headache all day and I feel like I could fall asleep typing this:confused::(. I wanted to post quick though. :)

Carolyn- you're poor baby boy! I'm like Missy, my finger hurt just reading it!
:( Hopefully it'll heal up really quick! Men definitely jump to the anger before the comforting thing first. Mark's the same way. He's gotten much better at being more nurturing with the kids but with me forget it! If I'm not feeling good...I'm on my own!:confused: If HE's not feeling good...well you can imagine the end of that thought!;)

Missy- Your poor knee! Yikes! All kinds of injuries tonight!:( I'm so jealous of your garden! I can't wait to get mine in. Hopefully in a few weeks! It'll be a long time before we get any yummy veggies though!

Marie- When I was pregnant the doctor and all the literature at the time said you could have up to 200 mg of caffeine a day and it was fine (equals one cup of coffee). When I first got pregnant, I tried to quit coffee completely and it was a disaster. I was nauseous as it was and then I developed a huge caffeine withdrawal headache and my fatigue was through the roof. When I mentioned it to the nurse she was like, "oh honey, you can have one small cup of coffee a day...it's fine!". My kids are pretty normal...I think!:p I don't think they are sure of all the implications of too much caffeine but I know if you drink extreme amounts (like several cups a day) you can increase the risk of miscarriage. Of course, extreme anything is bad! Like Carolyn said, think about what all our mom's did back in the day before they knew all the stuff that could happen. My mom smoked when she was pregnant with me...although I give her crap that that's maybe why I'm so short!:cool: She actually smoked with all of us except my youngest sister who is like a giraffe! I swear, she doesn't even look like she's related to us, she towers over all the rest of us girls! :eek:

Good Morning!!! Well, last night the moon was brighter than it ever was. I woke up at 3:00 am and thought it wa 8:00. I finally got up at 7:00. I guess I am just so use to getting up at certain times, that it messed me all up.

I am off for my run. Just wanted to say Hi and check the daily deals. I just bought Body Blast super sets. Now I only have 1 more that I am waiting for. Yeah!!!!

Carolyn---I hope your sons finger is feeling better. My knee looks nasty, but feels better.

Hello again!!! I made an delious salad for lunch today. Then, I prepared all my snacks in ziplocks for the week.

I just did a competition on my elliptical. It was tough....but I finished! The resistance went up to 15. :confused: That is crazy!!! I thought my legs were going to die!!!!!! :eek: When I was done, you could have ran out my clothes...eek!!! A good nasty!! I love it when I can tell I worked out though. I laugh(inside) at people...(my coworkers) who think taking a leasure walk done the street is enough to lose weight. They have no clue!

Last week, out cleaning lady at the office is about 150+ pounds overweight. She is also our patient. She complimented me...(which was nice) but she wanted to know how I lost...so I told her exercise and a healthy diet. You would have thought I punched her in the face. She responded with...but what weight loss pills did you take? When I told her none, she said..."well, I don't want to exercise. I just want to lose the weight." I told her nothing comes for free, and as Cathe states...you get what you give" So eating friend chicken everyday is going to get you nowhere. Some people!!!! hahahaha :D

Carolyn---Hope you are feeling better. Sometimes, our body needs rest...so rest today!!! We are allowed to have rest days.....I just do do it very often. (I save them for my time of the month, unless I am sick) I do find, trying to exercise with a sore throat is not pleasurable. :D

Okay, off to watch some TV with my man!!!!

I'm here finally! :)

I feel better today, although I just burnt my fingers trying to take my tea out of the microwave...stupid cup gets hot on the handle and I always forget!:mad:. I was really tired yesterday and I slept in until 9:00 am today. I felt a little off when I first woke up but then I was fine by about noon so I went ahead and did Burn and Build. My oh my...I just have to say I think that is the toughest workout I own! Even tougher than Cathe! If you guys check it out, you should know it can be done with just a dumbell rather than a kettlebell. They have a girl showing the modified way throughout the workout with it. She just uses the dumbell the way Cathe did in some of the LIS workouts (like say, the front swing). I'm feeling pretty good right now!

Oh man, Missy, that lady and the diet pills...:rolleyes:. That is so crazy people still believe in this day and age that they can get something for nothing despite all the information there that says over and over you have to eat right and exercise. Just like get rich quick schemes...they want it fast and easy! Plus, people just want to hear what they want to hear and believe what they want to believe! Just like the dangers of smoking! More than half my family smokes despite all the well known knowledge of the health risks!:mad:

Oh crap, kids are bored and wanna go for a walk...I'd better get off here before they turn on the tv and vegetate!:eek:

I would say Burn and Build is definitely a total body workout. Upper, lower cardio...you get the whole shebang there! It's not considered a strength day as much as cardio I think, though. I use just a 10 lb kettlebell except for the few sections where he does regular swings and then I'll grab my 20 or 25 lb one. That's only a few times though and you could easily do a front swing with a 15 lb dumbell like Cathe does (I believe it's in AB? or maybe AT?). The weight is mostly for cardio effect and boy does your heart rate get up there! There's this plank section where he also does these one armed burpees on the high step...whoa! You really work your core there!:eek:

Don't feel bad about the sundae Carolyn! You work hard enough to burn those kinds of indulgences right off!!;)

Jean---Yes, that's Boots as a kitten. I remember the day, he was so proud he could climb the tower. Thanks for the compliments on my children. They really mean the world to me. Yes, I am trying to hit that (50) pound marker!!! just .6 pd to go!!! 15 resistance is the devil!!! I did not think I could do it, but I did. The entire program was 8,12,15 resistance, and it took 50 minutes. When I was done, I thought my legs were dead. They felt like jello. :D

Colleen--Thanks...now you have me wanting another DVD!!! :eek:

Carolyn---Don't forget about Drill Max, it goes off tomorrow, on ebay. Last I looked it was still at $1. something. Don't feel bad about the ice cream, I also cheated. I had a brownie!!!!!!! :eek:

Hello Everyone!

Yes, I was at a volleyball tournament all day yesterday. I got home at 5 and then had to rush to 3rd daughter's softball game. When I got home from that I was really tired so got takeout Chinese for dinner, and I had ice cream for dessert. I really felt like crap after that. Today is a new day!

On Sat. I tacked on MMA Boxing after I did STS. That one is not too tough and it has a good ab section in it. Has anyone else noticed the 2 guys have really bad form in that one? Sometimes I feel like laughing in the middle of my workout, Cathe needed to keep a better eye on them!

When you run or exercise first thing in the morning, do you eat first? Sometimes I wish I could just get up and workout but feel I have to have something in my stomach first. On weekends I have my coffee and something light to eat and then I work out, but that takes longer.

Marie, I cut back on my caffeine when I was pregnant and everything was fine. I was commuting to Boston at the time and needed the boost to get me going in the morning. I sounds like you have a very demanding schedule so listen to your body and your dr.

I hope everyone's injuries are ok.

Welcome back Jean. Sounds like a difficult situation with your sister, but I'm sure she appreciates you being there.

I had kind of forgotten about Cathe's new workouts, but now that filming is near I am getting excited for them!
 
Mary---I get up between 5:45-6:00 am. So, I exercise for an hour, shower, and then eat breakfast! On the weekends---I get up @ 7am and run for an hour. I eat breakfast sometimes before/sometimes after (just depends on how hungry I am. My internal clock knows that I eat breakfast around 7:15.

My knee is better today. It just looks like I had knee surgery! hahaha :) There is a cut from the top all the way down below--- in a straight line. It is a little sore, but I am not letting it stop me. Looks alot better today.

Today, I am doing Disc#7!!! Looking forward to it! :p

Oh I'm so glad today is a rest day! I'm DOM'sing pretty good right now!:eek: That workout really gets your core and kettlebell swings always work my back and lats like nothing else. It really got my upper body and lower body too! Whew! For me, I definitely need to always do this workout before a rest day or I'll be toast!:eek:

As far as eating before workouts, I usually have something light like half of my protein shake or a bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon and my coffee. I've been into steel cut oats lately...yum! :) I'm one of those people that can't roll out of bed and workout...or really do anything until I've had my coffee! I need at least 45 minutes to wake up before I work out so I'll sit on the computer with my oatmeal and coffee and browse the forums while I come to life!:eek:

Jean- That's so awesome your continuing to work the legs! Are they getting just a little bit better? Maybe not enjoyable yet, but less dread inducing?;) I really want to try the chocolate version of that protein powder. I bet it would be yummy! I usually do 1 scoop of the greens protein powder and 1 scoop of unflavored whey powder with a combination of coconut (or almond) milk and a little of acai or pomegranate juice. Sometimes I'll do greek yogurt or kefir instead of the coconut or almond milk. I've also had it with chocolate milk. I've pretty much thrown my entire kitchen at my shakes!:eek: Oh, I also found some chocolate almond butter and put it in there...yum!:p As you can see...I'm a sucker for chocolate!

Mary- aren't those guys hilarious in the MMA workouts? It seems like so often in these workout dvds the guys are the ones with poor form or not able to keep up with the girls! I've noticed that in Bob Harper's workouts, too. The guys look like they are about to pass out!:rolleyes: I knew men were babies, but sheesh! LOL I'm SO excited for the new workouts too! Filming begins May 15, Whoo hoo! :D

I can't seem to stop buying workouts. I got LIC the first week in May and then I turned around and bought this new one called Kettlebell Kickboxing from Total Fitness last week. This after I swore I was done buying stuff for awhile!:eek: I just got the KB Kickboxing one today so I'm gonna preview it while we're slow at work here! Hee.

Jean---The more you train legs the more you will like it!!! I like to have DOMS!!! So, legs....well, if you work them hard enough you will receive DOMS!!! I just enjoy feeling like I got a good workout!!! I know, Crazy!!!:eek:

I'm just about to head off to bed but I wanted to post really quick about the hydraplenish. I get mine from Swansons.com...I'm addicted to that site!:eek: I get the brand by Nature's Way and I usually just get the regular one. There's one with MSM in it too but I take a separate joint supplement that has that in it as well. As far as swallowing it, I don't have any trouble with that one but boy do I have trouble with my vitamin D pill sometimes. Ugh. They make those things so tiny and sometimes when I go to swalllow it it'll get stuck in some crevice in the back of my throat and I wind up gagging until I get it out. TMI, maybe. Sorry.:eek: I'm so tired! Better hit the sack!
