STS first time!

Carolyn, your menu looked great for today.

This is what I've had today.

Breakfast: green smoothy: frozen banana, 1/4 pear, kale, milk, brown rice protein and a small handful of oats. All blended in my vitamix. Yummy!

Snack: home made LaraBara made with dates, cashews, peanuts and walnuts

Lunch: tuna with leftover spaghetti squash and res peppers

Snack: rice cake with homemade peanut butter.

Dinner: salmon on a salad with mixed green, cucumber, tomato and guacamole (left over from tacos last night).

It is so hard I believe that kids turn out differently when raised the same way. I just pray that they are happy and healthy..

Ha you made me laugh. I wish. That was today an not every day is like today. I get plenty of starch. Unfortunately with celiac I've had no choice but to make some changes. I try very hard to be good during the week and splurge on the weekends.

DS had a graduation from preschool on Thursday and they have a practice tonight. We had to eat early so I could take him I practice.

Glad to hear I am not alone Collee! I t is hard to believe that my kids were raised identically. Ds is a love bug. Dd is a tad cold. She has a very hard time expressing any emotion other then anger. So hard to take. I am a pour your heart out kind of gal. I just hope that when she is a grown woman she will feel about me like I do my mom. She is one of my best friends.

Enough heart pouring:p

So far today I had:
Chunky pb with sliced banana on a ww round.
Grilled chicken on a salad
Hard boiled egg
Plain nonfat greek yogurt, with sliced pair, and a 1/4c grapenuts
Handful of about 8 almonds

Yikes! Thought I had done good until I typed it all out! Looks like a ton of food, and I still have supper ahead of me!

Carolyn, I want to say that DS1 and DH are 'cold'. Breaks my heart.:( There is still time with DS2, but maybe not:confused:. You know what's the saddest? They all don't talk or communicate (like females) that much, so it's lonely sometimes. I wish they were pour-your-heart-out guys. Great thing for my sisters and girlfriends. The biggest, most colossal sadness? I wish I had a mother/daughter relationship like you do. I cannot imagine it.

You did great with the eating. Don't forget your almost daily workouts and the lifting torch the cals.;)

Good god girl you must be LEAN!!!! That would not be enough for me. I need some sort of pasta or bread in there somewhere.
Good for you! I wish I could be so disciplined!!

Betty, we were posting at the same time earlier. My friend that I walk with has two boys. She had an "oops", and is pg again. She found out it is another boy. She was very sad. I think she was thinking that the third pregnancy happened for a reason, giving her a little girl. She is fine with it now, but I know how bummed she was.

Dh and ds are at batting practice. We are having tacos tonight. Taco Tuesday, don't cha know! I am going to have mine as a salad. We won't be eating for another half hr. I was starving. Instead of reaching for my usual almond fix, I steamed up some beets. Dd and I love them so! I am trying to keep myself from eating another. So good!

Not that I could have if I wanted to easily, but we tossed around trying for a girl, then thought, what if it's another boy? Two's enough. Actually, I thought for sure ds2 was a boy, then was super upset when I learned he wasn't. Then it passed. He is so sweet. Hoping he grows out of his awkward puberty/adolescence soon because I don't know who this kid in my house is.

Colleen, that is an amazing menu. You are so good! So disciplined. That and BB have you rocking! I've considered skipping pasta, rice, or bread at dinner--imagine how lean I'd be.
Can't believe your kids are almost all done with school. Good luck! What are you doing with dd now that she's done? We have to the end of the month.

Hey all!

Thanks for the bday wishes! We had a great time up north. Just love spending time with my boys. Couldn't have been better. We did a ton of hiking and exploring. We rented a small cabin right on the shore of Lake Superior and had bonfires every night. So relaxing!

B update.....he can now officially pull himself up to a standing position. Unreal how strong my little man is. He is such a happy little guy :)

Tired so must get to bed but hope to be back tomorrow.

Browsed a bit.....nice job on the workouts my friends. Keep up the good work.

Jean- So sorry to hear about your dog :( That is so hard!

Morning ladies!!!

Marie, your mini vacation sounded great!

Betty, I truly enjoy eating healthy. I do love my sweets as well but I try to make or buy with the least amount of ingredients and avoid all yucky ingredients (HFCS, GMOs, etc). This has really helped my tummy heel.

Oh I forgot to mention. I also have a piece of dark chocolate every night after dinner. Just a little piece and it hits the spot of needing something sweet after dinner.

Carolyn, so great of getting a good night sleep. Enjoy your day today.

My neck is still stiff this morning so I skipped BB ad did ride. Got a good workout and I did 15 miles.

Need to get some work done. BBl.

Good Afternoon...

First of all....Colleen...your diet is so awesome....high five...if I ate like that...I would look awesome...I bet you do!

Carolyn...you are doing good too, I am like you though...I need some bread and a sweet treat...hehehe....I workout like a monster, so I deserve a treat..is what I am convinced of! LOL

This was yesterdays meal plan for me:

breakfast---2 pieces of natures own honey wheat bread (toasted) with strawberry jelly and a boiled egg
morning snack---grapes and apples
lunch---salad with a handful of nuts and dried cranberry
afternoon snack---cottage cheese and pineapple
dinner---1/2 roasted chicken breast, sauted yellow squash, and sliced tomato
evening snack---skinny cow ice cream sandwich

Last night I did a new Zuzka workout...and loved it...I have DOMS in my arms and shoulders today (yeah). Tonight I am going to try BB Core DVD.

I had to go to hellmart for the office today...I just hate that place....I only go there 1 time a month (for the office). Everything else I get at publix or somewhere else....I just hate that place....I am a walmart hater...can you tell? LOL...its the people in the store...not the actual store...

Okay...now that I have ramled on....I will be back.:p

Hi friends,
We actually have peeks of brief sun (originally a wet, gloomy week), interspersed with gusty winds. It's dry, cool, and comfy right now, but we're expecting some massive rain Thurs aft into night.
I managed AOLIH (indoors was so humid from all that rain:mad:) with BS Ch (ugh, it was heavy!) this morning before the plumbing guy came; he was actually very late due to a svc call; it figures, since I rushed. Now our water has been turned off. I've never thought about how many times I turn on a faucet in a day. Dozens upon dozens. Needless to say, I did not lunch healthily.
I prob won't start UY till next week if hopefully the install finishes Friday.
I'm thinking that weekly I will do a Cathe interval workout (still panic that I might lose all my gains), a BB, and a UY (in which case it'll take me 3x as long for the entire rotation). And light spin T, Th, S. We'll see.
Check this quick yoga practice out. We can commit to doing this!: Yahoo! Shine - Women's Lifestyle | Healthy Living and Fashion Blogs
Carolyn, my mom's not close to any one of us. I can't describe it and can't understand it. You are so fortunate with your mom. Don't worry about DD; she'll come around. Easy to say, right? Sometimes I look at my kids and I so despair!

Missy, I hate WM and the people in it. WM carries a lot of poorly-made crap.
How can you eat just nuts and cranberries for lunch?? I'd be starving. You eat super healthy too! Nice job!

Marie, how special that B has accomplished the standing!!! He will be super strong from mama being fit while he was in utero!
In a couple of wks you'll start your new job!:)

Carolyn, enjoy your sis, lucky girl!

Oh yeah, the other day our August Vancouver wedding attendance was called off:(. Like last year, health issues with the bride-to-be's mom. Where should we go?? Nowhere, if dh has any say.
Late September another cousin is getting married in Calgary, and I need to visit my CA sis, but when?? Need some good fares though.

Betty---my lunch was a salad with nuts and cranberries.....(lettace, tomato, cucumber, nuts, cranberries and some dressing)

I wish it was cool here...it is 97 degrees and HOT!!!!

As of my workout sched....I have come up with this....

Everyday....I always do my morning cardio....

Monday---Zuzka ZSHRED workout
Tuesday---Zuzka ZWOW workout
Wednesday----BB Core
Thursday---Zuzka ZSHRED workout
Friday---Zuzka ZWOW workout
Saturday---BB (alternate upper and lower)
Sunday---Cathe (cardio DVD)

I am going to follow this for 1 month...I started this monday.....and I feel great...I feel like I am getting my cardio, weights, and toning....;)

What do yall think?

Missy, I totally missed the salad part!
That is so funny--Do Nots! So true! That sandwich would be supreme if it uses a whole wheat english muffin. Just that substitution would nail it.
Your rotation sounds ! Lots of killer zuzka!

My DVDs came yesterday. I can't wait to hear what you think.

Today I've had:

Breakfast: smoothy - frozen banana, frozen pineapple, kale brown rice protein, milk, cocoa powder. I keep meaning to add flax to my smoothy but I keep forgetting

Snack: home made LaraBar. Same kind as yesterday.

Lunch: two hard boiled eggs an rest of left over spaghetti squash with red an green peppers.

Snack: rice cake and PB.

Oh I usually eat around 7, 10, 12-1 (depending on meeting work schedule) and 3-4 for my last snack.

Dinner is usually between 5:30 and 6.

I have no idea what I'm making for dinner tonight. Kids have swim lessons so it has to be something quick.

Missy, you need some protein with your salad.

My go to breakfast for years was 2 slices of Ezekiel cinnamon raisin bread with either almond butter or peanut butter. I can find a gluten fee cinnamon raisin bread that I like and I can't do almond butter anymore. -:(.

Ok I'm rambling....

Colleen, is there any nutritional value to rice cakes?:D
Too bad on the almond butter. love the crunchy version but TJ's has trouble keeping it in stock! I am almost out.

I am so bad on getting veggies in before dinner. It rarely happens!

No. I just like the crunch factor and the salt with the peanut butter. Sometime I will throw cocoa nibs on top. Kinda like the sweet and salty going on... Plus I get my PB fix. I LOVE PB.

Oh you ladies with your healthy food today! I usually eat a salad with some grilled chicken on top for lunch during the week, but today my co-workers wanted to go out to lunch so we went to Bertucci's. I had a big bowl of pasta with red sauce and sausages and peppers, it was so good but all of a sudden I felt so full! And all afternoon I have wanted to take a nap, too much food! Really zapped my energy.

And this weather is not cooperating with my rowing class either. Last night we got right in the boat and practiced rowing while it was still tied to the dock. It started raining lightly and gradually got heavier. Luckily I was wearing a raincoat but my lower half got soaked. One poor girl had only a sweatshirt on and glasses, she couldn't see a thing. Coach decided we should not go out on the river, good thing because it became a downpour! So we used the rowing machines inside. Got a good workout but not as much fun. I was hoping for Thurs. but now it sounds like rain again?

DH is traveling this week so super busy for me. Middle school chorus concert tonight, then 'Celebration of Learning' tomorrow at the school to see all the projects the kids have worked on.

Enjoy your new workouts ladies!

Betty, I make my own PB now with the vitamix. I don't think I'll ever buy it pre made again. The best is when I just grind it and its still warm. OMG. so gooooood.

OMG, Colleen, the PB sounds amazing!!!! Where do you get the fresh peanuts?
I'll have to remember this if I ever get a Vitamix.

Ever since I read The China Study, I'm leery of eating dairy, chicken, peanuts:eek:

Is everyone familiar with ewg.org? (armchair activism) They recently reported that contamination is highest to lowest in these meats, in this order: ground turkey, pork, beef, chicken. Surprising. Nothing is safe. Sorry to bum/gross you guys out. Honestly, I don't know what to eat any more!

I'm making seafood cajun boil tonight. Best get started.
