STS first time!

Oh you ladies with your healthy food today! I usually eat a salad with some grilled chicken on top for lunch during the week, but today my co-workers wanted to go out to lunch so we went to Bertucci's. I had a big bowl of pasta with red sauce and sausages and peppers, it was so good but all of a sudden I felt so full! And all afternoon I have wanted to take a nap, too much food! Really zapped my energy.

And this weather is not cooperating with my rowing class either. Last night we got right in the boat and practiced rowing while it was still tied to the dock. It started raining lightly and gradually got heavier. Luckily I was wearing a raincoat but my lower half got soaked. One poor girl had only a sweatshirt on and glasses, she couldn't see a thing. Coach decided we should not go out on the river, good thing because it became a downpour! So we used the rowing machines inside. Got a good workout but not as much fun. I was hoping for Thurs. but now it sounds like rain again?

DH is traveling this week so super busy for me. Middle school chorus concert tonight, then 'Celebration of Learning' tomorrow at the school to see all the projects the kids have worked on.

Enjoy your new workouts ladies!

Mary, we have the chorus concert a week from today, and our graduation is called 'Celebration of Learning'!. Just call it graduation!

Don't sweat the Bertucci's. You are so dedicated and fit.
I would have dozed off too. Pasta expands. And it was probably so yummy!
Good luck on rowing tomorrow. I was surprised that the rain will start tomorrow aft instead of Fri, but check tonight's forecast; it could come even earlier.

Too funny Carolyn!!! So glad you liked it!! Your dinner sounds yummy.

For feel bad Mary. It's good to indulge. How Long is your session for rowing?

Kids and DH had pasta, salad and green beans for dinner. I'm having left over salmon on a salad with spring mix, cucumbers tomatoes and goat cheese. With balsamic vinaigrette.

Betty, I get all my nuts from a local whole foods store. I always by organic and a try to get raw nuts as well.

Hi Everyone. I got to my sisters yesterday. She is in sunny Florida . I am just spending time with my Mother. Not much to do here. To be honest , it is pretty boring. We are expecting a really bad storm tomorrow. Maybe 70 mph winds. I don't like being at other peoples homes during bad storms. There's no place like home. You ladies sure do eat healthy. I need to remember some of the things you eat.

Mary If it rains everytime you go to rowing , will they give you some extra weeks so you can have time on the water?

Carolyn Were you doing a Leah dvd that sounded like a porno?

Colleen I saw on t.v. a demo of making homemade peanut butter. If i had a vitamix I would make my own also. There are so many things you can make with a vitamix. That was so nice of your husband to get that for you.

Betty What exactly is in a seafood cajun boil? My husband would love that.

Dh came down right towards the end of the dvd. He said that he needed to see what I was doing because it sounded like I was watching porn!!

I shouldve watched it first. I did it in my w/o room and the tv is up high. It was hard to see the screen and know if I was doing it right. I actuslly stopped to make sure I was doing ub and not core. I totally felt it in my abs. I am still so sore from hc! Anyway, I think I will like all the plank moves once I get them down. I loved the weighted section. My arms were screaming! I used 3 lbs. Naturally I don't feel totally worked since I had to keep stopping and looking at her for the floor stuff.

Carolyn, that's so funny! DH used to say STS sounds like porno!:D If I remember UB correctly, the music is very techno?
BB is hard to follow new because Leah barely pauses between sets, and the cuing is off a bit. I'm constantly looking at her as well. It's frustrating.
I want to say that her workouts get the core very well, even if you're doing UB.
When I preview something, it's like I never did, because 1) I don't remember, and 2) the moves don't sink in unless I'm doing them.

Jean, I heard the midatlantic might get bad storms, so stay safe!
How's your mom doing?
Maybe you can watch movies or read while you're there. Definitely get on the forums.;)
I ate so much white rice with my cajun boil tonight. You need it to sop up the delicious sauce. I use mussels and shrimp but you can use whatever. Since you're in MD, use Maryland crab. Is there crawfish there? (Tried crawfish the first time I ate in this restaurant and wasn't that impressed.) What's the local seafood? So awesome!
It's an approximation of a recipe from Boiling Crab, a restaurant that my sis and I love in CA! (They started out in TX.) It's spicy, but I make mine very mild. The restaurant's no-spice formulation makes me sweat bullets!
I use Old Bay, McCormick's cajun seasoning, paprika, sprinkle of cayenne. Would you like my recipe? I've been tweaking it every time I make it.

I'm busting full! Good thing dh and I did a 30-min walk after dinner.

Colleen, you're so creative with your meals, especially adding tons of veggies!
DH loves balsamic, where I'm not that keen on it. We had it tonight on our salad greens from our garden.
Last night, we had haddock meuniere with upland cress from the garden. (When I buy the cress from WF, it comes with a root ball, so after experimenting growing it in water and striking out, I stuck it in the ground.)
The day before that, we had kale that I'm growing.
I can't believe I'm saying that--eating veggies from my own garden:D! So giddy!

Betty, I LOVE that you and dh walk together. fast/slow...who cares... he is doing it with you! I love that. My dh hates how fast I walk so that is his excuse for not going.

Jean, we were posting at the same time earlier. I would not want to be somewhere else in a storm either. I am sure your mom is happy to have you there though. Maybe you can watch a movie together, or play cards or something.
We played scrabble over at my Mom's today. I won! I got the luck of the draw with each picking of the letters. I got all of the high pointers. first and probably the last time ever!

I am planning on Leaner Legs in the a.m. I just love it. I still feel challenged by it, so what the heck! Then I am meeting my mom and sister at Kohls. I have to use up my Kohls cash. My sister wants to use my 30% off coupon. If there is time we will hit TJ. I have to be in the school in the afternoon, which really stinks. I backed out of last week for my mammo. I don't feel right doing that again. Especailly since it is the last class. Next Thursday is the last day of school.

I can still hear my kids chatting. I love it when they chat, but it is getting late. I like to give them their alone time though. I wonder how long he is going to want to sleep on her top bunk. It will crush her when he wants to go back to his own room.

ok. babbling! Time to watch reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond.

Funny, I feel the same way as your dh! My dh walks really fast! Like I've said, i don't want to sweat. We avg 2.5 to 2.75 mph. I slow him down, of course, but I want to enjoy my walk, not dread it.
Your kids sound so cute! I wish my kids had that but they are too far apart in yrs. Ds1 finds 2 annoying. And 2 knows which buttons to push. Funny how quickly all that is forgotten when 1 is away at school.
I just admire that you guys always play Scrabble. Such a wholesome pasttime.
Have fun at Kohl's with your gal pals:D.

My wrists hurt this evening. BS Ch was heavy on them. Have you used your Wags?
My feet hurt from the combination of those stupid Uptempos and Cathe. They did not hurt prior to this. The pain is on my ?bunions?

Idk if it's menopause or just the weather getting warmer but I am wam then cool, then back again. Then again it could be because I put my robe on, or have pj pants on instead of shorts.

Good luck sleeping tonight, my friend.

Morning girls.

Carolyn, yes please gives us feedback in the WAGs gloves. I've been meaning to ask.

Neck is getting better. Today I did LB bb segments. I was really slow moving this morning so I only got in 2 1/2 of the 4 I needed to so. DS has his graduation to tonight so I won't be able to finish. Oh well something better than nothing. Hopefully I can get a walk in at lunch.

We are suppose to get thunderstorms all day today. Stay safe.

Bbl.

Hello! Did some food shopping.

The showers return, and soon it will be downpours.

The house work goes on today. There will be a break tomorrow, and will resume Monday, I think.

Colleen, odd that your neck pain still goes on. Can you stretch it somehow?

I have been stretching and using heat. It's gotten much better. I just don't want to make it worse. So just trying to nurse. My desk at work doesn't seem to be helping other.

Hello
This a.m. was rush rush rush, so I had no time to post. I had a horrific night sleep yet again. WE all over slept by 20 mins! I was able to do LL before meeting my mom and sis. In my wakefulness last night I remembered that m coupon had expired on Wednesday. So instead of going to Kohls we made the trip to the awesome Marshalls/Homegoods in Salem. OMG the cool dresses that they had in the active wear section! I got one and my sister got two. I would have gotten more if they were not so darn short!!
We flew into TJ and I scored a really cool journal to give my niece for graduation. She is going to Vietnam before she heads off to college. I thought it would be cool to journal her trip. She plays the viola. The journal is leather and it has musical notes engraved in it. It is really cool looking. I know she will love it. That, with a check, and voila...her gifts is done!

I love my Wags!!! I use them for HC. I tried them once with AB and didn't like them. When I did those waking planks and then two pushup combos they seemed to slip. There is a wedge of foam in the palm and the walking on my hands across the carpet caused the wedge to move in an awkward place.
The ones that have a small pad in them are great for lifting. Worth every penny!

I need to do some cleaning before dh comes home!

Carolyn, those were exciting finds today! What are activewear dresses? Like tennis dresses? You would rock a short dress; you work your legs so much they're awesome-looking, I'm sure.
That sounds like a beautiful gift for your niece. I personally really like musical notes! And the viola! I wish I could get a son to play a string instrument.
How amazing she is going to Vietnam! Any special reason? What college is she going to in the fall?

I think I don't always reach for LIS workouts because of all those darn planks of all kinds! Mtn climbers, burpees, sliding ones, etc! They are killer.

So I had a slice of pizza for dinner:confused:. With kale. I did put fresh basil on my pepperoni pizza though (nitrites, anyone?).

I think I might do UY CT tomorrow:eek:. No work guys around. Or dh. Wish me luck.

Where are Missy, Mary, Jean, Marie?

Carolyn, what great finds. Do tell about the dresses. I LOVE summer dresses. I can't seem to have enough.

Wow, Vietnam. What collage is she going to?

Betty, the pizza sounds yummy. I always try to get Applegate products for lunch meat, etc. They also have really good chicken sausage. All if their products are nitrate free. Wegmans also has a nitrate free brands.

Dinner tonight was grilled BBQ chicken on a salad with cucumbers, tomatoes and goat cheese.

Betty, your garden sounds wonderful. I would love I have one.

I love to go in walks with the family. We try to do that as much as we can on the weekends.

DD has been in a tennis camp this week. Next week both DS a DD will go to summer camp together. DD has gone to this camp for the last two years. It will be the first time for DS. I'm so nervous about him going. Such a big change for him as he has been in the same preschool since he was a baby. But in the same respect I think he is ready for a change.

Goodness, so much rain and so dark--could have slept on!

Colleen, ds will go to a week's tennis camp too in Aug. I think he dreads it.
How's the rain?

Carolyn, hope you slept.
Brandeis is nearby, for sure. A couple of ppl I know went there. That's quite an adventure for your niece in Vietnam! World travel is so mind- and maturity-expanding.

Good Morning!!! I was so busy yesterday....I thought I posted, but I didnt! Yesterday I did my Zuzka workout along with my cardio.....I just love love love her workouts....I feel like I/m on top of the world when done....I always get an exercise high with them, they are so challenging....just love it!

Tonight, we are making pizza....yummy!!! This is my cheat meal of the week....I have done really good all week....looking forward to pizza!

Tomorrow, we are leaving first thing in the morning...and taking the boat to the Lake... going early before it gets too hot....yesterday it was 101 degrees when I left work at 5.....aweful...it was a dry heat, literally I was sweating and doing nothing....crazy! All I can say is thank god for air! I leave my air on at home set at 77 degrees for my babies during the day....and when I come home I bump it down cooler.... I just hope this heat wave breaks soon...it has been like this all week!

Hope everyone has a lovely day! BBL!

Carolyn....I too would love to play tennis...but I am not very good! Tim and I use to play for fun.... but he doesnt like playing anymore...says its too hot or too cold....excuses!!!;)

Yes, so dark, wish I could have slept in this morning!

The rain let up last night and we were able to go out on the river! There were 4 of us and the coach. We rowed up the river for about an hour going against the current, and I thought 'there's no way I can row another hour back!', but it took only about 10 minutes to row back with the current. I loved it! My butt got really sore in the seat though, that pesky hamstring injury still acts up. My arms are sore today so I got a good workout. And I loved being outside on the river!

2 of my kids have taken tennis lessons in the past, and I was just getting info about a week long camp yesterday but then DD said she doesn't want to do it anymore. I looked at our calendar and with them in school until the 28th, the summer is so short! So I won't push. I have also taken tennis lessons in the past but never played much, always feel like I am starting over.

Missy, wow, can't believe it is so hot there! It has been so cold and rainy here. Enjoy the lake!

Carolyn, your niece's trip does sound exciting, that will be like going to a whole different world.

Betty, we had Celebration of Learning yesterday, but then we have a whole other celebration for graduation on the last day of school.

Have a good day!

Good morning girls!!

Yes, It is just a day camp. It's a private school that runs the camp during the summer. it only about 5 minutes from my work. They go to the pool once and week and also have weekly field trip. Then the rest of the week they do activities at the school. Really well run. On Fridays they have a pizza lunch and watch a movie. By the end of the week they are beat. They do break the kids up by age so the little ones aren't with the older kids. DS is 4. He turns 5 on 8/30.

They start next week and go to the end of August. We also take two weeks off in the summer. Usually July 4th week and then the week before Labor Day.

DD is enjoying the tennis camp. DH is a good tennis player. So be is going to take her to play tennis on Sunday. I took lessons last year. I enjoyed it but you really need to keep up with it. I'm not that good either.

Today was UB finally. Neck is getting better. Ironically it felt good on my neck doing bb today. I took it easy but it helped to stretch out my shoulders an neck.

Thanks or the info in the dresses. I will check those out. I love those type of sundresses.

Mary, what a great night of rowing. How often do you go? So cool.

Missy, stay cool. It is chilly and rainy this morning.

Bbl.

Hi everyone. The rain has stopped and the sun has peeked out once or twice. Yay.

I did it! My first UY, CrossTrain! I loved it. I'm not sure exactly what aspect of it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The time passed quickly (serial clock watcher here!). And it wasn't difficult (not sure if that's good or bad). Ironically, my UB is still achy from BS Ch the other day, so all those chaturangas were not very doable. Had to drop to knees.
I really love the flowing of it. Maybe that's what usually seems lacking in my other yoga workouts. And I've never been to a class before; I rather like seeing all those other people. I love the rich HD filming too.
My only dislikes: As with Foundations, I'm facing the crew, so I'm always using the opposite side when Travis calls out the sides.
And when he starts a new move, the camera is showing an upper shot of him talking and not the practitioners and their positioning!
I could easily just do this 108-day thing. I'll see what happens on Monday with those plumbing guys.
I watched the intro and the short film first. Has anyone else?
And I need a pedicure if I'm going to stare at my toes for 108 days:D.
Last day of Deep Discount sale!;)

I have a rarely-used tennis court beyond my backyard and we never take advantage of it. Isn't that sad?? By the time we finish bkfast in the summer to go play, it's nearly high noon; I avoid the sun in the summer like the plague. I'm not a tennis player, but wouldn't mind playing. I need to take ds out there when school gets out, to get him ready for that camp.:D
Colleen, have you rcvd your BB dvds yet?

Mary, that sounds so awesome, rowing in the river. Too bad I'd die of fear:eek: since I'm deathly afraid of water AND I can't swim.
That's a huge difference, rowing with the current. It's like bike-riding against the wind. I prefer the path of least resistance (or, in geek terms, zero ohms;)). Lazy, anyone?

Missy, I'd wilt in that 100-degree heat. That is intense. How often do you hit 100??
As you can probably surmise, I like temps in the mid-50s to mid-70s best.:D

Carolyn, have fun with your sis. Score lots!
I'll keep my eye out for those dresses/the brand. I need to try out my new skort. Prob will look horrible, going by past history.

Tomorrow I'll be out all day. Early to the dentist (let's see the verdict from doing OP for 4 months) and dh's nephew's grad party. I prefer being at home.;)

Happy Friday Ladies. Let me start by saying my sister's computer is a piece of CRAP. She is not into computers so she really doesn't care. I could never live with this . It took me almost an hour this morning to read 11 emails. O.K. enough about that.
We got our storm yesterday. It was not too bad here. We did lose power for 2 hours. But all is well. Today is cool and breezy. My rear end is sore from sitting all day, everyday here. I can't wait to get back home to my life.
My Mother is doing good. She only weighs 112. I wish that was my weight. Her hands are very painful from arthritis and her food has to be cut up into bite size pieces. My sister has her empty the dishwasher and fold the towels but I wait on her hand and foot. But her health seems to be good. She will be 95 on Aug. 7.
The builder wrote me yesterday that my quartz countertops came in damamged and the new ones are stuck in customs. Now why are they coming from another country? Needless to say , we are moved back to end of July or early August. Things happen for a reason.
My dvd's came yesterday. No big deal with the hubby receiving them.

Colleen I keep forgetting that your son is younger than your daughter. For some reason I keep thinking that you and Carolyns children are the same age and sex. But it is the opposite . Your little boy is so young.

Carolyn That is so exciting that your niece is going to those countries and experiencing different cultures. Is your SIL from Vietnam?

Do you ladies just sign your children up for these camps or do you ask them if they want to go? We never went to camp growing up but we had to go to Vacation Bible School every summer for 2 weeks. I hated going to that. It was just a day thing.

Mary I am so excited for you to finally get to row. It sounds like you really enjoyed it. Maybe you will sign up for another class when this one ends. Is your house staying clean while you are away?

Missy Enjoy your morning on the boat.

Betty I can't wait to hear how like UY.

Hi Marie.
