STS first time!

Hi girls,
Today was gorgeous! I like it a bit cool. A light jacket or sweater is perfect. We did yardwork, and I also put in 30 mins on bike.

It's great to want to get 10K steps in a day. I used to be motivated like that, but now I hardly bother!:eek:

Mary, I agree about Intensity. I haven't pulled that out in ages. I recall I would sweat like mad, my face beet red from the exertion, and I would get flustered with the step routines. Nice job attacking it!
Sounds like you've got yourself an equivalent walking partner. Awesome!
Funny, I used to take off my pedometer when doing Cathe.
Wow, a school make-up day today? I would be upset too!

Carolyn, thanks for sharing your vaca pics! I loved them. Where in FL were you exactly??:D Are there any direct flights there? (Although seeing your sis was a bonus to the 1-stop.) Your setup sounded perfect. A beach all to yourselves, hardly anyone around!
I felt the same way about all the Disney parks--so expensive! Plus, when we went, you couldn't bring any food or drink in, so we were stuck eating there, and the prices were ridiculous! It's like you're held hostage, and it left a bad taste in my mouth!

Does anyone watch Touch?

Can you believe I haven't previewed BB yet? I waited all these months to get it, it's finally here, and I haven't put it in the player yet. I will tomorrow!
 
Omg, Carolyn, we must have watched the same episode of Touch last night! I am still in tears thinking about it! I am also angry!!!
We also dvr it and just started watching the season a few weeks ago. We still have several left.
 
I've never heard of the show touch. What channel is it on?

I usually don't shop at the store that is close by. It's just a very basic store so it good for bread and milk. Today I went to wegmans which is about 10 minutes away.

No workout yet for me today. I hoping to go for another walk.

I need to take a shower.

Happy Sunday girls. It is a beautiful day. I have all of the windows open. We are expecting rain tonight and all day tomorrow. And on and off all week. I layed some grass seed so hopefully it will grow. I went to Kmart this morning to get a curtain rod for the basement and then I went grocery shopping. I had a good coupon for Skinny Cow. I finished my small bedroom so now I am starting the bedroom which has the computer in it. Now I have to figure out where to put all of this stuff.

Carolyn We are still watching Bates Motel and The Following. The Following is so good. We have 2 more episodes to watch. I am glad I didn't give up on it. Bates Motel is good also. My sister is planning a trip to Florida and she can only get a flight that has a stopover in North Carolina. What's up with that? I remember in the past you could fly nonstop to Florida anytime. She is going to Orlando airport. I guess this is the new world we live in.

Carolyn The coupon was one I got at the Giant when I bought groceries last week. I think it was $1.50 off 2 boxes. We do still have the cherry cones.
That is not good about Cuda. That is puppy behavior. He should be over that. I hope the trainer calls soon. He could bite a child or get hit be a car. Let us know how it goes with him.
 
Hello friends.....sorry to be mia...but Tim was off yeaterday for the 1st saturday in months.....we went shopping saturday morning we left home at 9 am...right after i finished my workout.....went all over.....ate steak n shake for lunch....then came home...put the pool up....did some garden work....cooked dinner and i was exhausted.....i feel aleep at 9 last night.....

Today been busy too....just sat down for a few minutes.....

Yesterday....i was looking at spin bikes and tim was looking at guns..... i know flywheel needs to be 40 pds.....and i read belt driven is best....still shopping/looking....but i actually rode some yesterday and liked it.....so the hunt begins!

Carolyn...hope Cuda calms down....

Colleen....i enjoyed my fitbit...i say go for it...i had the one thats tracked steps, stairs, sleep....loved it! It sycned to computer and you could monitor your norm.....cool!

Carolyn, :eek:what is up with Cuda?? (I just happened to see your pics of him in your album from last year.) Did he learn those bad habits from the kennel? Is he exacting revenge for being left at a kennel? Do dogs even think like that??
Touch had two repeat episodes in April, I learned. I was concerned because Friday of the marathon bomber's capture was all news coverage. We missed episode one and can't get it online.
I thought the same thing that maybe she's not really gone. I hope so. I can't stop thinking how upsetting it is. Sniff, sniff.

Colleen, how awesome you can walk to Wegmans!!! (Wait, or is that 10 minutes by car??) I would die for a decent walking-distance market. (Not pricey convenience stores though.)
Touch is on Fox Friday nights at 9. It is on season 2. Pretty interesting, about connections in our world. Did you ever watch Heroes? It's by the same guy and it rings similarity in some small way.

So, I have previewed about half an hour of BB UB. She goes right into the workout with no warmup:confused:. It seems very doable, and I really wonder how this will get me long and lean:D. I'm not sure if my HR will even go up! Looks like just my speed!:D Nonetheless, I'm committed long-term to getting long and lean through BB and UY.
Speaking of which, Carolyn, I read that Travis' standalone CT is a little different than the CT in the UY 108-day program, each filmed with its respective purpose in mind. Isn't that awesome?

Jean, you are so dedicated to soldier on with all your house-improvement work. It must be so tiring, tedious, and seemingly endless. Given that it appears you are doing the bulk of the work, I just wanted to say I notice all your hard work.;)

Do you know why my squash would start growing a flower, then the bloom just dies off? Last summer, I planted zucchini seeds I bought in Italy, and while they grew, I never got past a flower. So sad!

My mom was is in town this weekend. Yesterday we did AOLIH and today was Supercuts. She rocked them both. She is so strong! Hope I can kill it like that when I'm 60.

We went to a big garage sale with kids stuff galore yesterday. It was at the state fair grounds. We got some great deals.

Sleeping B in my arms right now. My precious love!
 
I'm with you Missy, where did the weekend go?

My knee is feeling the effects of the high impact workouts I have been doing, so today I took it a little easier and did MMA boxing. I wore my boxing gloves to up the intensity.

I had a ton of cleaning to do this weekend, my sister is coming on Thurs. from CA for a visit. It is amazing how much stuff gets thrown into the spare room! I managed to get out for a walk yesterday, it was such a gorgeous day. I'm not done with the cleaning yet,hope to do a bit each evening.

Marie, that is great about your Mom working out with you. She sets a great example!

Betty, I can't help you with the 2nd helpings, I had ice cream both days this weekend. I eat horribly on the weekend.

I was wondering, do you think I can get any or some results just using Leah's 3 dvds? (UB is 44 mins.) Think I'll try it, then do Ab Circuits.
How much longer do you have on BB PS?

Betty....

Do you see female flowers? Female flowers are easily identified. A tiny baby fruit is located between the stem and the flower.

If you do not see female flowers, maybe you just wait for another couple of weeks. Squash and gourds starts with lots of male flowers first. Female flowers will emerge after a couple of weeks.

If you see that female flowers die and fall off, then you may have the pollenation problem. Squash and gourds need insects for pollenation.

If you do not see bees flying around, then you have to pollinate your plant by hand. Do the job in the early morning. The female flowers will close later in the day. Select a male flower and make sure the pollen is mature. Touch the stamen with your finger and see if tiny yellow particles come off on your finger. Using the stamen (with petals removed) and gently rub the pollen onto the inside stigma of the female flower.

If you see lots of bees, there might be some other problems. Check the following:

1. Look carefully around your blossoms and see if there are very tiny insects. These tiny thrip fly eat pollen and the female flowers may die and fall off. Many pollen eating insects are pollinators. But thrip flies usually do not make travels from flower to flower and they will eat all the pollen on both male and female.

2. Check the roots and see if there irregular brown-colored knots. If so, there are nematodes. They multiply rapidly and live off the essential liquids of the plant and the plant performance will be greatly reduced. By the time of flowering, the nematodes may multiplied so much that the plant may just barely to support the nematodes.

3. High day (above 90) and low night (below 55) time temperatures will cause plant stress and cause the tiny pollinated fruit to abort as a result. If your fruit is shriveling and dying because of weather, don't worry. As soon as the weather improves, you will see new females appear and succeed.

4. Do you have amper water? This is essential especially in hot days.

5. Stop putting any fertilizer with nitrogen on your plant and add more phosphorous to promote the flowering process. Too much nitrogen ia also a factor which will delay the setting of fruit on the vine.

I've read lots of good things about here DVDs and results. I have 2 months left in the BBPSI rotation. Today I started the full splits workouts. Today was lower body thigh focus. Tomorrow is UB/Core and triceps focus. Day 3 is glute focus and day 4 is shoulder UB/Core focus. I can't wait to see the gains in doing the splits. Leah recommends a 4-6 break from BB once you are done with a rotation. I am thinking Xtrain then I will probably go and do BBPSII. I have both 2 and 3 pounds. I usually start with 3 and have to lower down to 2 as I get fatigued.

Yesterday I was at Best Buy getting DD first communion gift (Ipod touch she has been wanting for 1.5 years) and they had FitBit one on sale for $89 and I had a gift card for $85 so I went ahead and got it! I am excited. I really want to use it as motivation to be more active during the day. I am also curious about how it tracks sleep. Mary, do you use it in your sleep?

Mary, Good job on MMA boxing this morning. I hope knee feels better soon. I hate like crap yesterday too and my TOTM came yesterday too.

Missy! Thank you so much for such a detailed explanation of zucchini 101! It was sooo thoughtful of you! I am going to cut and paste and save it. I don't know if I'll ever be that experienced, but you never know.;) I did notice white powdery stuff on my plant last year, and I think that was not a good thing. I have not started the seeds this year yet since I envisioned a repeat of last year. But now, I feel like I can tackle it after your notes.

Colleen, thanks very much for the PDF. This BB rotation seems very doable! Especially now that I have a spin bike, the cardio days would be the bike! (I honestly never thought I'd be doing exercise 6 days a week!) Slight issue: I'd have to buy 4 new dvds:confused:!
So, BB UB. What can I say? It looks easy. But it's hard! Ballet is all new to me! So when Leah switches gears so quickly (often), I end up missing a rep or two. Her voiceover is sometimes a rep or two behind as well. 15 mins in, my left wrist was in pain. Idk if it was a tendon or something. Don't know what those things are called. Anyway, putting on my lifting gloves helped. The pain went away. I love that I don't have to do a gazillion traditional pushups to get the triceps or other UB.
I'm thinking I'll be quite sore tomorrow. My arms feel tight but I don't feel any doms presently. Oh, and I used 2#. This after I just offered those weights to my sister, telling her I have never needed 2# in all this time with Cathe.:confused:
Do you mean split splits? Omg, I don't expect I'll ever be able to do those in my lifetime. (You prob mean split body parts.) Nor cartwheels, sadly. My arms are so pathetically weak. On those side planks, my arms were shaking and aquakin'! And mind you, her highest reps are a doable 16!
I just love how Leah's body looks so long and lean. Her height helps too.

Carolyn, how was the trainer? Is Cuda a keeper? Is he his normal little self yet?
How did your knee get affected by Bret? Must have been the darn squats. Hate 'em.

Your plan sounds great. Except for the icing part. Change it around to accommodate your injuries.

Mary, I so hear you on those high impact workouts! Mix those gentler workouts in there to give them a break.

Oh Betty you made me laugh! Yes, splitting workouts (UB and LB). I've never done ballet and I've never have done "the splits". Can't wait to hear how you feel tomorrow.

Sorry about the knee. Dd you stretch? If you don't want to spend the bucks on UY I would seriously recommend some other type if yin yoga. I've been doing it weekly and knock on wood, I've had ZERO knee pain the last few weeks.

Good evening....just got home....i took my last baby to vet today and got her spayed....now all my animals are done....no more kittens for me....we have a full house!

It is raining today...so hard at the moment...that Summer refuses to go out....miss priss doesnt like to get wet! Lol

Just finished my zuzka workout...now on the treadmill.....

Quick check in before bed.....

I've been so obsessed with making a Shutterfly photo book lately that I've been losing track of time. I can't believe it's almost midnight! I'm working on a birth to 6 month one. I have so many pictures to choose from it's hard to narrow it down.

I did Step Blast this morning and then walked to Target in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day out. B and I had storytime today.....always fun :)
