Jean, I would start with up to a tbsp per day at first? See how she tolerates it and then up it? It's a natural food, and no known allergens have cropped up from its use, so it can't hurt, is how I see it. It gets absorbed by the body very quickly, so it starts working right away (anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory; immuno-enhancing). The only possible side effect from taking too much is runny stool, but that's only likely in very large quantities. The author has "personally taken up to 14 tbsp a day without problem". He says he knows of people treating serious health problems with 10-14 tbsp a day with no adverse side effects.
