Strength in Numbers

Janie Enjoy your rest day. I agree that at least it isn't raining but who knows for how long.

Eunice Both of us will be waiting a while before we get ours. I was looking at Cathe's July rotation but I won't be able to do it yet since it incorporates the new workouts.

Pam I find I get some good ideas from Cathe on how to torture people at the gym :D. These new workouts will definitely give me some really good ideas. I don't think we will get any really nice weather for this weekend. I wouldn't want it as hot as you are getting it either, that would just do me in. I don't blame you for not going golfing when it is that hot. Thanks for the review of Crossfire. Oh boy those 1/2 turn jumps are back to get us.

This morning was yoga. This instructor wasn't very good at all. I don't know if she was new but her cueing was terrible and the moves just didn't flow together. Oh well this is the first time where I thought the instructor wasn't very good and I have been going there for almost two years now.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Cheryl

Cheryl Sorry you won't be getting nice weather but hopefully that doesn't stop you from enjoying your long weekend. Since the 4th of July is on a Wednesday this year we just get that one day off, but it will be kind've nice to have a break in the middle of the week. Great job on yoga but sorry to hear that the instructor wasn't very good. That is a real disappointment when you got to a class and then it isn't very good. You've been lucky though that you haven't had that problem before. Hopefully this instructor won't be back!

This morning for me was Gym Style legs. Luckily my legs were feeling a lot better than they had been because I looked at the calendar yesterday and was thinking I might not be able to do legs today. It was good though, except I couldn't quite do all of the reps on the 1 legged glute lifts or the outer thighs with the band. I had to drop to both legs on the floor for the last few of the glute lifts and get rid of the band for the last few of the outer thighs. OUCH. Have a great Monday everyone and Happy Canada Day Cheryl!

Pam

Well this weekend came and went too fast. Saturday I took a rest day from working out but I got a lot of cleaning and errands done. Sunday I did disc 25, Chest & Back. After that DH and I watched a Criminal Minds marathon. I was a little worried that I wouldn’t have DOMS because I just didn’t have that exhausted feeling when I was done. I worried for nothing because my chest is so sore today. This morning DH and I both had trouble getting up and ended up sleeping over our alarm by about 20 minutes. Since I was running late and feeling pretty tired, I decided to do the Low Impact Tabata Premix from CrossFire. It was short and sweet but intense. I was so proud that I actually did the mountain climbers pretty well this time. I still don’t like them but 20 seconds isn’t so bad.

Eunice I’m so sorry you had a headache for 2 days straight. That is horrible. But great job for getting your workouts in with disc 24 and 30/30. I hate those cold, rainy days. They do make it hard to want to do anything but lay around. I’ve gotten the new DVDs and previewed CrossFire. It looks really tough but also fun in a no dread kind of way because it looks like it will move fast. I need to preview To the Max next. I’m most excited about the tabatas because those will be great for little add ons or on days like today when I wake up late or just don’t have a lot of time.

Janie Great job on DWP, Step Moves, and yoga abs! Oh, I’m so excited to see pictures! I hope when I am your age, I can have two beautiful homes like you. Hmm. That is weird about your cholesterol. With working out, I thought that was supposed to help your good cholesterol go up. I don’t have any words of wisdom for you on what it could be but I know you will get it figured out. Hope you had a wonderful rest day!

Pam Great job on To The Max! I still need to preview that one but it sounds like it is my kind of workout. I wonder if that was what Cathe was thinking too with the STS TB premixes not including the warm ups. There is a Butts & Guts Premix (Leg Blast I think) that doesn’t include the warm up but just a screen saying “warm up for 5 minutes” and I thought that was odd that they just didn’t include the warm up from the full workout. When I was previewing CrossFire, I moaned when Cathe brought out the ½ turn jumps that you do three sets of. I don’t think that would be much of a dread factor for me though since you only do them for 20 seconds a pop I think. I wonder if the heat was sapping your energy this weekend with the skiing. Yumm!! Quesadillas sound so good. You keep rotating CrossFire and To The Max and let us know which one is your favorite! Great job on GS Legs! My non-working leg almost always droops on those 1-leg glute lifts. I definitely cannot keep the long, high lever like Cathe. Glad your legs were feeling good just in time to get hammered again.

Cheryl Great job on GS BSB! So does the yoga place you go to have different instructors at each session or every so often? I think that has been one of my problems with yoga DVDs I have tried in the past. The cueing wasn’t very good. Especially in poses when you can’t see the TV, I would be sitting there wondering if they had moved on to a different pose. I hope you had a wonderful 3 day weekend and that your mom and dad had good birthdays!

Have a great day!

Yea! I just weighed myself and now way 129 pounds. I feel so good today! Today is my Joey's (hubby) birthday and tonight for dinner is Paleo. Shish kabobs with shrimp, butternut squash and tomatoes with a vegie salad and avocado dressing. For his desert is Paleo banana bread with yogurt and strawberries on top. May sweeten it with date sugar. Yesterday was a 90 minute interval on the beach with walking, jogging and running. You all have inspired me to run this time. I loved it! Today Did HiiT 30/30 and felt really good with all that sweating. LOL:D

Cheryl, Great job on yoga. Sorry about the instructor. Makes for a... Oh, Happy Canada Day!

Pam, Great job on GS legs. OOOO one legged glutes I can't do.:( With sore legs anyway, I think you did a terrific job.

Julie, Good job on resting Sat. and doing cleanmax. Great job on disc 25, chest & back. Oh I do love Criminal Minds. Congrats on the DOM's in your chest. Great job on today's Low Impact Tabata Prem from CrossFire. Mountain climbers:confused:. Yes, cardio is key for getting the good cholesterol up. Hmmm is right:mad:. I'll talk with my doctor about it the next time I see her. In the mean time what is there to change? I'm eating good cholesterol stuff.

Eunice, Glad to see you are listening to your body and resting. Those are signs your body are showing that are saying to take a break.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Pam It has been a cold and rainy long weekend but it is still nice to get the extra day off. Getting a day off in the middle of the week is nice too, it breaks it up a bit. Since I don't pay for the yoga classes having a not so great teacher every once is a while isn't too bad. Good job on GS Legs, it is not an easy workout. I am with you on the 1 legged glute lifts and the outer thighs with the band. My legs are burning on those two.

Julie Weekends always go by way to fast. I am glad that you listened to your body and took Saturday off. Good job on disc 25 and your DOMS. I have never watched Criminal Minds but I heard that it is a good show. That really throws off you day when you sleep through your alarm but nice that you could get the Tabata premix in from Crossfire. They bring in a different studio each month so you get a different instructor each week too. Some of them you remember and some are brand new. This was the first instructor that I had that didn't know how to cue properly. It was a bit fustrating but since this is free I guess I shouldn't complain :D.

Janie Congratulations on you weight loss. I hope Joey enjoys his birthday today. Way to go on you 90 minute intervals on the beach and HiiT 30/30.

This morning I did Intensity . It had been a while since I had done that one and I could tell . Well it was nice having a three day weekend but man I wish the sun would come out. It rained the whole weekend and of course when I need to go back to work it is supposed to get nice out .

Have a great day.

Cheryl

This morning was plyo legs, disc 29. I’m spent now. Tonight DH and I will be having my parents and my sister’s family over for food and then going to fireworks at the town nearby. We always do fireworks on the 3rd so we can have the 4th off and not have to try to get up after a late night on the 5th.

Janie Congrats on the weight loss! You are getting so close to your goal and doing so great. Definitely proud of you as you should be proud of yourself. Joey’s birthday dinner sounded yummy. I love shrimp and butternut squash. They seem to complement each other nicely. Did you just cube the squash and put it on the shish kabob and then grill it? Great job on that run! I am not much of a runner so I am always impressed to see people do it.

Cheryl Great job on Intensity! I can always tell when I haven’t been doing high intensity cardio workouts and then do one. I feel so out of shape so it is a good reminder to keep them in my rotation. That is nice that your yoga is free and in a way it is nice that you get to try out different instructors each week. I could see that being good advertising for the instructors because they could get new clients. Although the instructor that doesn’t cue well probably isn’t getting any devotees. Sorry your weather has been cruddy. We are in a drought so bad that they are canceling some of the fireworks shows for fear of starting brush fires. You are welcome to send some of your rain this way!

Have a great day!

julie Great job on disc 25 on Sunday. Glad to hear that your DOMS concerns were unwarrented! :) Great job on getting up and doing the Crossfire Tabata premix after sleeping in too. I think I probably would've talked myself into bagging the workout at that point! what did you think of that premix? I have never seen criminal minds, I guess it must be good if you watched a marathon.
I think that you are going to like TO The Max, I like it a lot! I did it again this morning. Yea, it seems weird to me when they don't put in the warm up or cool down because it will just give people an excuse to skip. Like in the Hiits when she says to walk around for 2 minutes....i agree that the 1/2 turn jumps don't seem as bad in crossfire as they do in the plyo leg workouts. That Tabata section with the band is a killer though!! I was glad it was only 5 minutes long.

Janie Congratulations on being so close to your weight goal, you must be soooooo proud of yourself! That is just awesome, I am so happy for you! It sounds like you had a wonderful birthday dinner planned for Joey too. Please wish him a Happy Birthday from me! Oh boy, fantastic job on your 90 minute interval workout on the beach. How fun is that?! Wow, Hiit 30/30 too, you are amazing!

cheryl well sorry to hear that the weather isn't cooperating with you but I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your break anyway. i didn't realize that your yoga classes were free, wow, that is really nice! Do they just do that to promote Lululemon? I guess I wouldn't complain TOO much in that case either then . ;)

Julie great job on plyo legs! it sounds like you have a fun evening planned, I hope you have a great time!

This morning for me was supposed to be mMA Boxing, but I don't like that one so I did To the Max instead. It was harder today, I think I am feeling the effects of skipping my off day over the weekend. Oh well, the weekend will be here again soon. have a great day everyone!

Pam

Julie Good job on plyo legs disc 29. Enjoy dinner with your parents and sister's family and the fireworks tonight. It is nice that the yoga is free and we can try out new instructors too. I would love to send some rain over your way. I am quite tired of it now and you guys are really in a heat wave right now. I am assuming that you still have power. It has been on the news here that millions of people are still without it.

Pam You can't beat free yoga classes. They do it to promote Lululemon and the yoga company that comes in for the month. This way you can try the instructors and if you like it you can go to their studio and sign up. Good job on To the Max. Sometimes that day off can be really beneficial to keep you going.

So today I didn't workout. I am going to experiment with working out Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings instead of trying to cram so much in after work. I will still do my Saturday and Sunday workouts too. I want to see if that works for me because I really do like to get it done in the morning before things get in the way.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY to all of you. Enjoy your day off.

Cheryl

Did Athletic Step and Stability-Ball Abs (with modifications). Played a little on the spinning bike while viewing the new DVD's. It's so exciting! I was ready to call it an evening. So tired, it must be catching up with me. I may take a break tomorrow, maybe. Great workouts though. Will be going to our son's for dinner and fireworks tomorrow. I wished Joey Happy Birthday from everyone. He says thank you.

Cheryl, Great job for this morning's Intensity. I know what you mean about our weather.:(

Julie, I did cube the butternut with the shrimp, tomato and red peppers. Soooooo good! Great job on plyo legs, disc 29. Have a good time with your family tonight with the fireworks show.

Pam, Great job on To The Max. I also can feel when I don't use my rest day. It's harder.

Cheryl, Thank you for the cheering for the 4th of July. Have a great rest day today. I like your plan BTW for working out in the mornings.

Have a wonderful 4th of July!

Janie

Here are a few photos of the Beach House. One that is truly extraordinary in Westport on Pirate's Day.

This fabulous horse is made from beach driftwood.

My bedroom. Eventually will make crochet curtains.

There's more, but I think you can get an idea what our little place looks like.

Have a good one everyone,

Janie

Cheryl I guess that is a good idea luring people to the yoga studios with the free classes! It's nice to see which instructors you like. It sounds like a good plan to work out every other morning. Then you get a much needed rest but still have some evening time free too. I hope that works out better for you!
Thanks for the 4th of July wishes!

Janie Great job on AS and Stability ball abs. That is a hard ab workout! Oh good for you getting some exercise in on the bike while previewing the new DVDs! I hope you enjoy dinner and fireworks today!
Thanks so much for sharing the beach house photos. I loved seeing your weights and stability ball beside that big beautiful TV. That looks like a great place to do your workouts. I love the tile floor in your bathroom too! That driftwood horse is absolutely amazing. WOW!!! Just beautiful! It looks like you have a little piece of heaven there and I know you will get hours and hours of enjoyment from it. You did such a beautiful job with all of the work you did on it too!

This morning for me was GS Chest and triceps. I was saying to myself 'THERE are all of those pushups that Julie was talking about!" I did pretty well with them, but had to drop to my knees for the last couple of sets. It's very cruel of her to make those slow ones at the end. My muscles were really shaking by the end of this one and I was feeling the burn for quite awhile afterward. Doug and I skiied last night and it was really gorgeous out there. I skiied well, unfortunately he didn't, but we all have off days. Today he is playing in a golf tournament so I am heading over to my moms to hang out by the pool. have a great day everyone!

Pam

Tonight after the great family, company, fun and eats I did Cardio Core Circuit. I was very sweaty, just the way I like it.:) aw ha, aw ha.

Pam, Thanks for your support on the house. Yeah, we really did work hard on it. Now we can enjoy the heck out of it. Great job on GS chest and triceps. Oh Cathe is cruel sometimes with her workouts. (UNCLE!) You know you did good when you feel the effects of the workout for quite awhile.;) Glad to see you had a good time skiing. Yes, we all have good and bad days. Enjoy your Mom and the pool.

Hope everyone enjoyed the 4th,

Janie

Janie WOW, you did CCC after your family get together yesterday?! That is REALLY impressive, great job! it sounds like you had a great day, good for you.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Eunice I hop things are going well for you. I miss you!

This morning for me was an interesting combo - MMA Kickbox and Hiit DWP. I did the third combo of MMA Kickbox correctly for the first time ever. I was always trying to make it harder than it is, putting in more turning than Cathe does. I had forgotten there is core work at the end of that one too. It was good to get a big sweat going with DWP after that since the kickbox isn't very intense. It feels like a Monday, but only 2 days to work so that is a bonus! Have a great day everyone.

Pam

Tuesday night, I didn’t get to bed until almost 11:30 which as you know is way past my normal bedtime. Thank goodness I had Wednesday off. I did disc 30, shoulders, biceps, and triceps, and then lounged with DH and watched Criminal Minds. This morning I did HiiT 30/30 and Ab Circuits Weights & Plates. My triceps are really sore which makes me oh so happy!!

Pam Great job on TTM again! I will need to wait until I am done with Meso 3 to do XFire and TTM in their entirety. I did like the tabata premix but I see it more useful for an add-on or when I am short on time. The tabata part is done in 4 minutes but the premix is around 18 so 14 of those minutes is for the warm up and cool down/stretch. Great job on all those pushups and the rest of GS C&T! Glad you guys are still able to enjoy skiing with all this heat. It probably helps being able to get out on the lake in the heat though. Great job on MMA Kickbox and DWP. I agree that MMA Kickbox isn’t that intense so combining it with a HiiT seems to work pretty well.

Cheryl Oh I like your plan on MWF mornings. Maybe having that day off in between to sleep in will help. I’m thinking about changing my schedule to Sunday through Friday and taking Saturdays off so I can concentrate on cleaning and running errands without feeling run down over the weekend. Still investigating though. Yes we have been lucky with our power. So far we have just had occasional losses that don’t last for more than 5 minutes at a time.

Janie Great job on Athletic Step and SB abs! I had to modify the plate pikes this morning. Well, I didn’t intentionally modify them, I just couldn’t get my booty up all the way so they were half pikes. Spinning while watching TV sounds like a great way to avoid bumming out on the couch. Love the pictures of your home-away-from-home. It looks so cozy. I particularly like the human exercise equipment right next to the cat jungle gym!! Great job on a sweaty CCC! That one is sure a toughie.

Have a wonderful day!

Tonight was Circuit Blast Cardio Only and Cardio: MMA Boxing-Heavy Bag.

Eunice, I miss you too.:(

Pam, Great job on MMA Kickbox and HiiT DWP. Congrats for doing the 3rd combo correctly. Good for you! I love improvements.

Julie, Great job on disc 30, shoulders, biceps and triceps. And this morning's HiiT 30/30 along with Ab Circuits Weights & Plates. Congrats on the DOM's in your triceps. Yea!

Take care ladies,

Janie

Julie Great job on disc 30 and then lounging around watching criminal minds. It sounds like a nice relaxing day after your late night. Great job on 30/30 and W&P abs too. Congrats on those sore triceps too, mine are still talking to me from Wednesday! I was wondering if that tabata pre-mix from cross fire had both tabata sections or just one, but sounds like it was just one of them. Wow, 18 minutes sounds like a long pre-mix for only 4 minutes of work!

Janie Great job on cB Cardio premix and MMA Boxing heavy bag! Do you have a bag? I don't but I have done that one before without a bag. I like that cardio only from CB, it's short but sweet!

This morning for me was GS Back, shoulders and biceps. That workout goes by pretty fast but it is tough. I like the style of this series a lot though. I mostly was able to match Cathe on weights, but I had to drop down on a couple of things. We are back up in the 100's the next few days, our 'cool spell' in the 90's didn't last too long. Yesterday I was feeling like we had 2 Monday's this week, now I'm feeling like we have 2 Fridays so nothing wrong with that! Have a great day ladies!

Pam

This morning was disc 38, Squat Rack Legs!! This time I tried doing the front squats with my weighted vest on to pad my shoulders. It seemed to help but I may still get that Sting Ray and see if that makes it even more comfortable.

Janie Great job on Circuit Blast Cardio Only and MMA Boxing Heavy Bag Bonus! I like both of those. CB goes by so quickly and has so much variety. I don’t have a heavy bag but I like doing the heavy bag bonus anyway.

Pam Great job on GS Back, Shoulders, and Biceps! Gym Styles was my first real weight lifting workouts and they made me fall in love with heavy lifting. I think there are separate premixes for each of the tabatas individually and then there is one that combines all three so that one is longer. I would think the tabata premix with all 3 is more like a HiiT workout. Dh and I were just talking about how we wish every week was like this one. Two days work, 1 day off, 2 days work. I kind of liked it! I think we have hit a record here of the most days consecutive with 100 degrees or more. They are warning people to not go outside unless you absolutely have to because the heat index is near 110. Supposedly we are going to cool off on Sunday but they said that last week too.

Have a great day!

Rest day today. Will start STS Meso 2 the day after tomorrow.

Pam, Great job on GS Back, shoulders and biceps. Don't you just love it when you match or close to match with Cathe? Good for you! I do have a bag to hit. It was fun!

Julie, Great job on disc 38, Squat Rack Legs.

I'm so excited about Cathe's up coming DVD's!

Take care everyone,

Janie
