This morning was Butts & Guts! Wow! If my glutes don’t visit DOMSville after that workout, I don’t think anything can take them there.

Cheryl Oh boy it does sound like you needed Stretch Max more than MMA Fusion. I hope you got everything worked out. I hate that stiff feeling. I love DOMS but not being stiff.

Pam So glad your presentations have gone well. I bet you can’t wait to get all that sightseeing in and to start eating and drinking with DH. Enjoy the rest of your time there.

Eunice Great job on disc 8 (I’m hoping for triceps DOMS for you!) and core max 2! Plus you had a very busy day cleaning house, running errands. I hope you slept well. I bet you were asleep before your head even hit the pillow. Well I have Drill Max on tap for tomorrow and that has the really hard dive bomber and spiderman pushups in it. If I can complete those decently, then I’ll be ok with being called Miss Pushup but those are so hard to do, even just a few are hard.

Sun. before I left for the beach I did Gym Style chest and triceps. Mon, Tue, and Thurs Rolly and I speed walked. It was great. Last night, I did Gym Style Legs. OMG! I still have it, but O my it was hard! Almost kept up with Cathe, just couldn't do a few towards the end, but that's OK, I can tell I did fine. Today I'm waiting for DOM's, but perhaps I'll get them tomorrow. It's really nice to be home and back on the computer with my cyberspace buddies.;)

Julie, Great job on LIC. OOOO yes, those uneven push ups are something else.

Cheryl, Great job on Stretch Max. You poor thing. You'll limber up soon and everything will be back to normal. Do take care.

Pam, Oh! Lucky you sight seeing in Portugal. How romantic too. Seems you'll be home in no time at all. Enjoy your stay there, it sounds so lovely.

Great job on today's disc 8, back & triceps. Yep, I think you should redo your 1MR. Congrats on your weight gain. Yea! Also great job on CM2. You are getting me into a CleanMax mode. You did a lot of work today. Good for you!

Hi Marta! I'm in Lisbon at the Marriott. Where in Portugal do you live? Any site seeing recommendations for the weekend? I haven't done much other than work so far, although we have had some very nice dinners. My husband is arriving today so we will be doing some sightseeing in Lisbon today.

Hi strong and lean ladies. You are making me envious with your talk of DOMS when all I have been doing is eating, drinking, sleeping and working! Only 1 more presentation for me tomorrow though and it will be an easy one. And i didn't fall off the stage on Tuesday....whew! I don't have any work today so will be sightseeing with the DH. His flight lands in about 30 minutes :)
I'll be home Monday nigh so back into the routine next week. I hope everyone is doing well!

Hi Pam,

I'm from Oporto, in the north of Portugal ( where Port wine comes from ;) ).

You can visit Sintra, about 20 minutes from Lisbon; It's a very beautiful town to visit!

You have to go to S. Jorge's Castle; It has a great view over Lisbon.

Don't forget to try our wonderful pastry called "Nata" :D

They are wonderfull!! You can do a Cathe workout to burn those calories :cool:

Enjoy you stay here.

Next time you have to visit Oporto!!!

This morning I woke up with only a slight twinge of DOMS in my glutes. Yes, I was disappointed. :eek: I did Drill Max and noticed upon getting out of my shower that my glute DOMS were beginning to set in finally. By the time I got to work, walking up the six flights of stairs was a little difficult!!! Hehehe! :p:D

Janie Great job on all your walks with Rolly on the beach. Great job on Gym Style Legs, too! That one is such a hard leg workout. I think it is harder than Butts & Guts in some aspect. In GS Legs, by the time we get to those slow motion lunges, I’m pretty wiped out and then when we hit the floor it is all I can do to try maintain proper form with the stability ball without using my arms to push into the floor too much. I’m excited to see how you progress with GS over the course of a month.

Today I did Gym Style back,shoulders and biceps. Amazing! What can I say? I'm using lower weight compared to the STS workouts, however I am going to failure and that's good. If it wasn't for this extra skin you get when you age, I just might see more extra muscle in my arms. That extra skin is nasty! :(

Julie, Oh yes I agree, GS legs and the whole series is very tough. I can see muscle growth, but like I said above, it bothers me to have loose skin. Yuk!:mad: Hope most or even part of it will go away as I continue with the rotation Cathe set up for me. I'm also disappointed for not having the DOM's I think is required from all the work I do.:eek: I'm glad you finally got yours. Maybe mine will come tomorrow? Hmmmmm. Makes me wonder sometimes if I'm doing this right. I do go to failure every time.

This morning was Body Max 2! Wow! I made it through. That is one long workout. It was getting iffy there towards the last power circuit but I made it through and finished out the upper body and abs. I had the biggest smile on my face during the stretch. Now DH and I are waiting for our car's oil to get changed and then we are staying the night at my parents. We will have to do our errands tomorrow before we head home.

Janie Great job on GS Back, Shoulders, and Biceps! Don't worry about the DOMS. Some people don't seem to get them but just because you don't get them doesn't mean your muscles are not growing. You said you are going to failure and noticing an increase in strength and muscle so that is what matters most. I bet as you keep increasing your muscle mass that loose skin will fill up with that nice muscle.

Let me introduce myself: I'm 34 years old, single but living w/ my boyfriend for almost 2 years.
I'm an accountant and I'm been doing Cathe's workouts for about 10 years.

As I'm trying to get pregnant and have stopped taking the pill, I just gained about 10 kilos in 4 months still doing my workouts daily and eating right :(. I have pants that no longer fit me....my doctor tells me that it might be the body adjusting to the lack of the pill.

Janie - I think the first thing that people tell you when they visit Portugal is that we are very friendly. Our food is great ;) I think the north of Portugal is more beautiful to visit (the Douro vineyards, the city of Porto ) but the southern of Portugal ( a region called Alentejo ) it's also a great place to vist.
Don't forget the great beaches.

Today I'm planning to do Intensity - I'm following Debbie's Get Ready for Summer 2012 Rotation - I just love this one ;)

A change of plans, I will be staying here and Joey will be going to the Beach House tomorrow. There isn't anything for me to do until Joey does some more work over there. Then I can do the last job of painting of one more room, the living room. Can not wait! This morning I did GS chest and triceps. Man oh man! Glad that's behind me. It was a love hate workout this morning.:)

Julie, Great job on Body Max 2, that one is a toughie and you are strong enough for it. Congrats! Also great job on Upper Body abs. I can feel your smile right over here. Good for you. That is an accomplishment. Enjoy visiting with your parents. I had some DOM's today! Not much but they were there.:D Hope you are right about the lose skin.:(

Marta, So glad you are here with us. We have a fantastic group and with you in it will even be better.

I am 61 and between Joey (husband) and myself we have 5 children (all grown and with professional jobs) 4 grandsons a cat and a dog. We just bought a small place in Greyland WA near the beach. It's a fixer upper and there is still a lot of work to do. But we are getting there. I've been doing Cathe workouts it seems forever. 20 years maybe? A long time though.

Aw, starting a family in the near future. Sounds so exciting! I now have a reason to search out Portugal and all it's wonderful places. See how you already inspire?:)

I love Debs Summer Rotation. She's very good at putting them together and a good cyberspace friend as well. Enjoy!

Eunice My triceps are now OK. It took a couple of days to get back to normal. I hate working out in the afternoon but sometimes getting up at 4am is tough too. Good job on LIS cardio supersets and disc 8.

Marta Welcome to the group. Congratulations on starting a family. It isn't fun to gain weight but the doctor is probably right and your body will adjust. As for me I live in Vancouver Canada and will turn 52 next month. I am married and we have three cats. I have been doing Cathe for about 14 years now. I am now training to become a Personal Trainer, it is my retirement plan. Looking forward to chatting with you.

Well I have been MIA for a while. It seems that time just got away from me. Friday was my first day in the weight room with my instructor and it went well. I still need to write an exam for my fitness theory which will be sometime the beginning of May. The weather has been really nice here so I have been outside more than being inside on the computer. It is now starting to feel like Spring. So for me it was yoga this morning and yesterday I did Low Impact Circut. Friday I worked chest and back. So now I need to get some studying done.

This morning was 4DS Lower Intensity Step in its entirety. The weight portion seemed to fly by for some reason.

Marta Welcome to our check-in! How exciting to have another fitness friend and one from another country too. We are about the same age (I’m just 2 years younger than you). I’ve only been working out with Cathe for almost 2 years. Right now, I’m doing my own rotation where I am going through Cathe’s workouts from start to finish in chronological date order. I have four weeks left and then I will be moving on to strength training for the whole summer before starting up an STS rotation in the Fall. Good luck with trying to conceive. What your doctor says about your body adjusting to being off the pill makes sense but I understand it can be frustrating to see that weight creep on. I saw Debbie's rotation for this summer and thought it looked really good. I've bookmarked it and will try to do it sometime. There are just so many good rotations and not enough time to do them all.

Janie Great job on GS C&T! I bet the hate part came in with those drop set pushups in the beginning. I am so thankful those are done and out of the way in the beginning but they make the weight work so hard after that. I guess those pushups are pre-exhausting the chest muscles though. I hope Joey gets a lot done so you guys can finish that house up.

Cheryl Great job on chest and back on Friday, LIC (original style) on Saturday and Yoga on Sunday. I don’t blame you for wanting to stay outside in the nice weather rather than being cooped up inside. Our weather has been mildly chilly, windy, overcast, and a little rainy. It is so weird that mid-March was in the 80s and now we are in the 50s and 60s again. I hope it turns around soon. Yep, I can only do the Body Maxes on the weekends. 90 minutes is just way to long during the week unless I want to get up at 3am.

Julie Good job on 4DS Lower Intensity Step. The weather has been so crazy lately. You guys had summer like weather in March we have been really cold and rainy. I am glad that it is finally nice out but it is suppose to be back to rain tomorrow :mad:. Well maybe it will clear up for the weekend. That was a good picture that you posted. It is so cool that they do that. I like it when you can get pictures of your pets with the Easter Bunny or Santa. I would like to do something like that with our cats but I am sure they would claw poor Santa's eyes out.

Today I did LIS Cardio Supersets. Eunice reminded me of that one and I thought it would be good to do this morning. Tomorrow I want to do Pyramid upper body and I will remember to do the abs first :D. For my lunch break tomorrow I am taking one of my staff (and maybe one more) through a warm up and then a chest and back routine. It will give me some practice in working with people. I will let you know how it goes.

JulieWell, its being a while since I was here so I'm just going to say that you had being doing pretty good with your workouts Buts & Guts, so did you enjoy those glutes DOMS? I bet you did! Also good job doing Body Max 2.

I had being pretty busy and I think from now on I'm going to be like that so probably I won't be checking in every day.
I have done LIS Athletic training, disc 36 shoulders/biceps/triceps/ +core max 3 and today disc 35 plyo legs. Tomorrow is holiday so I will have everyone at home, its getting pretty cold now and rainy, I hope for a sleep in tomorrow:p but I still going to do I think disc 34 chest/back.

Hiit 30/30 today. Short and sweaty. The Pergo (flooring) for the living room came today. Will do the kitchen/reading/computer room then the tip out (gaming room) then the living room, after I paint it. First though, Joey needs to fix a few things in there. You know, my size eight skinny jeans fit differently. I must say I like what I see. Is that being conceited? I worked so hard for it. I may need to think about getting into a size smaller pretty soon. We'll see. Even my tops fit and look different, for the better.

Cheryl, Cheering good things with your exam for fitness theory and Friday in the weight room doing well with the instructor present. Great job on this mornings yoga and yesterday's LIC. Then on Friday chest and back. Also great job on today's LIS Cardio Supersets. Enjoy PUB, yep abs first. LOL

Julie, I love the Easter photo. Yes, the hate part was the drop set pushups. I can't get through them without modifying. I had a terrible night’s sleep last night. I was so tired this morning I had the hardest time completing 4DS Higher Intensity Step. First, I don’t do that step often enough to do it well to begin with but this morning I was having a hard time even learning the blasts in between the step combos. Then we went on to back and chest work. I have no idea how I made it through all those pushups but by the time we got to the stretch I just wanted to curl up and go to sleep. I hope I can make it through my 4 meetings today and not fall asleep during them.

Cheryl Great job on CSS! That’s great that your staff is helping you with your training. Make sure they work, work! We got a picture with Santa with Oscar and Maggie about 3 years ago. It was funny because Maggie was sitting there like she was afraid to move and Oscar was crying with his mouth open and wide eyes like we were torturing him. I bet your cats would love Santa’s beard so maybe that would distract them from his eyes!

Eunice Great job on your workouts: Athletic Training, disc 36 plus a Core Max (I bow to you being able to do that—I am too exhausted after meso 3 workouts to do anything else), and then plyo legs! Enjoy disc 34 tomorrow. I know you will find the time to work that in. No worries on checking in every day. Just pop in when you can. We know you will be working hard.

Janie Great job on HiiT 30/30! Have fun putting the flooring in. Sounds like you guys have your work cut out for you with all those rooms though. I don’t think you sound conceited. You are working hard and that is so great that it is showing and you are happy with what you are seeing and feeling. That is very important that you are happy with what you are doing.

Julie Oh, so sorry to hear that you had such a lousy sleep and it impacted your workout so much. I sure hope that you get a better one tonight. That step in HIS is tricky, so definitely not a great one for days when your mind isn't it's sharpest!

Marta Welcome to our group, we are happy to have another Cathlete join us. I had a wonderful time in Portugal and wish I had been staying long enough to get up to Porto as well. The areas that we visited were just beautiful though, especially the amazing palace in Sintra. We felt like we were in a fairy tale. I am 51 years old, married and have 3 step children and 2 cats. I'm not really sure how long I have been doing Cathe workouts. I first discovered her when I was teaching aerobics classes at a gym. I bought a step for home and her CtX All step video came with it. I just loved that video and gradually started adding to my collection. At the time I was only supplementing my gym workouts with home workouts though. It wasn't until I stopped teaching and then stopped going to the gym that I started doing mainly Cathe workouts. I have a few other dvd instructors that I like and use occasionally, but Cathe is my favorite. I'm excited to hear that Debbie has a new Great ready for summer rotation. I'll have to check that out as I just finished the rotation that I was doing.

We got home last night around 7 pm. I was so tired I could hardly keep my eyes open. We had a big salad for dinner and then laid down to watch TV, and I slept through the show we were watching. Last night I started waking up hourly around 1 am :rolleyes: Despite that I feel pretty refreshed so far today, I'm sure that won't last! I got up and did Step Moves and the abs from ME. I figured that would be a nice easy one to get back into my routine. I was so happy when I got on the scale this morning though and discovered my weight was exactly the same as it was the day I left! I didn't worry about what I ate the entire time, but there is so much nice fresh grilled fish that we ate pretty healthy. Of course, we had to wash it down with lots of Sangria though :rolleyes::D Oh yea, and the bread was amazing, so maybe not quite as healthy as I was thinking.....:confused: We did a lot of walking and hiking though too. We visited the most amazing castle on Sunday. It had huge gardens with all kinds of hiking trails and we ended up doing a pretty big hike through the gardens. I posted some pictures on FB if you want to check them out. Doug had the better camera so I need to get him to share his pictures with me since he took most of the pictures on the last day. We had a great time, but it's good to be home too. I missed my kitties, my Cathletes and my Cathe!

This isn't a good day for me.... My boss isn't going to renew my contract just because he doesn't want me to become permanent;

He always does this: hires a person w/ a 6 month contract that can be renewed for at least 2 times and in the 3 renovation he either fires you or keeps you permanently. He always fires... so, in about 1 month, I'll be unemployed :(

And what scares me the most is that there isn't many job opportunities for my area....and the economic crisis that we are going thru...

So today I didn't workout...I was supposed to do MM but I'll do it tomorrow

Hope everything is fine the rest of you!!!

Eunice Way to go with all of your workouts. I know what you mean about being busy and not having time to check in. Don't worry check in when you can. Enjoy your holiday tomorrow, hopefully the weather will be nice for you.

Janie Good job on 30/30. Enjoy doing your flooring. I don't think you are conceited at all. You work hard and it is showing since you will be able to buy smaller sizes. That is awesome keep up the good work.

Julie I am impressed that after having a bad nights sleep you were still able to get up and do 4DS Higher Intensity. So......how did the meetings go today? That is too funny about Maggie and Oscar with Santa. I am not sure how my cats would react but I don't think it would be good :confused:.

Pam So did you feel refreshed all day? Way to go with doing Step Moves and the Abs from ME. That is impressive since you had to also deal with a time change too. Nice that you didn't gain any weight while you were gone. I will have to go to FB to take a look at your pictures.

Marta Sorry to hear that you didn't have a great day. Have you thought about starting to look for another job now just to be ahead of the game in case he does let you go? I find that when I am stressed a good workout really helps me unwind.

I did Pyramind UB this morning and I did start with the abs. It has been a long time since I have done that one and I sure was feeling it especially the bicep work. So I went with one of my co-workers to the gym at lunch to take her through some exercises. We didn't go until after 1pm hoping that it would be quite but there was a bootcamp workout going on and they had all of the free weights and the benches :(. So I had planned on having her use the free weights but because they were all taken I had to make do with the machines. It threw my right off because I wasn't sure on how to adjust all of the machines. So taking her through a bench press with the maching and she wasn't feeling it in her chest at all even when I did get some hand weights and had her doing flys she still wasn't feeling it where she was suppose to. Ummmm I will need to talk to my instructor on Friday to get some ideas on what I was missing. My other person was sick today so hopefully I can take her to the gym on Friday and there won't be a bootcamp class going on :eek:.

Julie, I feel for you and know exactly what you are going through when you don't get enough sleep. You poor thing. You did do it! Congratulations for your stamina. Great job on 4DS Higher Intensity Step. Hey, even without enough sleep that is one tough workout. Wow! I'm impressed.

Pam, So glad you guys are home and safe and sound. So sorry you didn't sleep well last night. Great job inspite the lack of sleep, on Step Moves and abs from ME. You are so lucky that there was no gain on your weight. But when you are away from home like Portugal, you have to try new things. You just have to. That walking and hiking saved you, I'm sure. I've never ever seen a castle before. Wow, I bet that was amazing! Loved your photos on FB.

Marta, Oh that boss of yours sounds like such an @ss. So sorry you had to get stuck with a position like that. It's so not right!:mad: I'd try and find another job right away. Hope you will be able to find one. ((((Hugs to you)))) and sending good vibes your way to get another job. Have a good time doing MM tomorrow. I love that workout and you'll feel better after I think.

Cheryl, Great job on PUB. Such a bummer that a bootcamp workout was going on. I don't feel my chest muscles either. Some people I'm finding out don't. I think you did good. If you find something that she wasn't doing or a fix for that, let me know. I want to be sure I'm doing it right too. But, like I said I think you did what was suppose to be done. Let us know how it goes with the other person on Friday.

Cheryl I did feel pretty good all day, I was surprised! I had a hair appt and when she was massaging my head I thought I might fall asleep, but that isn't unusual!
Great job on PUB and doing the abs first. I think I need a reminder embedded in that disc! Maybe I should just tape something to the outside of it :rolleyes: Oh boy, sorry to hear that your first session at the gym didn't go so great. I would've made the same assumption that you did that 1:00 would be a good time to go. That is strange that she wasn't feeling those exercises in her chest, I wonder what was going on?! You will have to share what your instructor tells you. Do you have a gym at work that you are going to?

Janie Good for you taking a much needed rest day! I slept quite a bit better last night, the first time that I woke up was at 3:30, so I'm thinking tonight will be a full night. The walking and hiking definitely saved me! The castles that we saw were interesting, but the palaces were amazing. I'm not really sure what the official definition is between a castle and a palace :confused: the only thing I could figure is that a castle was built for defense of the city and a palace is just a grand home? Not sure though.....anyway, they were very cool.

This morning I decided I needed a good weight workout so I did MIS. I haven't done that one in a long time. It was a goodie. I couldn't hang for all of the bicep or shoulder work. I ended up doing every other rep for the second set of upright rows and had to drop down my weight for the second set of crazy 8's. My arms were shaking by the end and my abs woke up and reminded me that I had worked them yesterday when we got to the ab section. I imagine I will be feeling it tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great day!
