Strength in Numbers

Pam I like the idea of a heated outdoor cat house. Your cats are going to have a very cozy place to sleep in when it gets cold out. I am glad that your ankle is getting better but you should take it easy you don't want to hurt it again. The Canucks did win the game yesterday 4-3. I was glad that they won since one of the Boston players took one of our guys out with a cheap shot. Our player now has a concussion and we don't know when he will be able to play again. This game was really hyped up since it was Boston we lost the Stanley Cup to in June. I did an express premix of clean max after the hockey game :D. I will do the whole clean max next weekend. Good idea to not push the cardio until your ankle is better. It must of been hard for your friend to plan her own funeral but it probably made it much easier for the rest of her family. It sounds like it was a very nice service. The photo montage always does me in. I like the idea of giving her angels a feather to remember her. Good for you to do Yoga Relax. You just need to relax and know that even though it isn't cardio or weights you are still doing something good for your body.

Janie Nice to have your grandson stay with you. I am sure you got some excercise in just chasing your grandson around. Enjoy your stay at the beach house.

This morning was yoga at Lululemon. We hadn't had a class for a couple of weeks because of the holidays and it felt good to get back into it. The class was really full, a lot of people with the New Year resolutions.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Cheryl

Janie Ah, so sweet that you got to spend some time with your sweet grandson! I know you are looking forward to those long walks on the beach this week too. Are you still working like crazy when you are there, or are things starting to get in shape where you can relax a little more? The tears in your eyes are not stupid, it just shows what a big heart you have. I think it would be very hard to plan your own funeral like that, but he said that it wasn't hard for her at all. She had an amazing attitude about the whole thing. I agree that she is a hero. I don't know how they do it, but I saw another friend go through something similar. The only thing I can imagine is that it keeps them focused on something and busy. It is amazing to me. I didn't know that about Joey's first wife. I give you a lot of credit because I can only imagine it would be very hard for you too in many ways. {{{HUGS}}}

Cheryl I saw the extended forecast this morning and theyu said it's going to get down into the 20's overnight this weekend, so I went right out and ordered that heated cat house and a heating pad. Hopefully they will arrive before the cold weather does. Now we'll just have to see if they will use it. It has doors on both ends so that if another animal follows them in they have a way to get out. Wow, I get so mad when I see those cheap shots in sports. I think they should get a lot tougher on the people that do that because it just spoils the game and the risks are so high. I hope your player is ok soon. :D I love the express clean max premix!!! That had me laughing out loud! Great job! I really need to do yoga a lot more often, I think I need that more than anything.
Great job with your yoga at Lululemon. Don't you just love the January classes?! Don't worry though, it will be back to normal soon!

This morning for me was supposed to be Afterburn but I decided I'm not ready for that yet so I did the TBT Lower Body and then did abs from LIC. It really got my heart rate up too! I drove my DHs car this morning and it's a manual and now my ankle is talking to me. It didn't like pushing on that clutch at all  OMG, last night I decided to try a bunch of new recipes and wanted to make homemade pasta so we just stuffed ourselves for dinner. I made a Thomas Kellar wedge salad with homemade buttermilk dressing and slow roasted tomatoes, homemade linguine with white clam sauce and homemade garlic bread. For dessert we had homemade toffee chunk ice cream with homemade hot fudge sauce. I was wishing this morning that I was ready for a big cardio workout because MAN do I need it after that. It was fun, but I need to get serious about cutting back now  My scale was not happy with me this morning! Anyway, have a great Monday everyone!

Pam

Yesterday I was planning on trying to do Yoga Relax but it was so nice out that DH and I decided to clean up the yard from some windstorm damage we had a week ago. We then took Maggie for a walk. This morning I slept in and hopefully that will give me lots of energy for disc 16, chest, shoulders, and triceps tonight.

Cheryl Great job on CSS! LOL! I would rather watch anything than do housework. Actually on Saturday, we didn’t get much housework done as we were running late for our oil change appointment. I’m hoping this Saturday, we can get a good clean in because it sure needs it. I like your idea of calling it an express premix of clean max! I think DH’s sister has medicine she takes when she feels a migraine coming on to head it off. He has a cousin that has to take medicine every day for migraines because she gets them so bad. Great job on yoga!

Pam Great job on TBT UB! That’s great that it didn’t bother your ankle, especially with some of the balancing exercises like the pushups, plank, and 1-arm row. Wow, Jayne seemed like an amazing, strong woman. I couldn’t imagine planning my own memorial service. It seems like it was a nice way to say goodbye though. Amazing Grace is a hard song for me too. My grandpa used to whistle that song all the time and now whenever I hear it I think of him. Great job on YR premix #2! I should have at least done the premix yesterday but just didn’t get around to it. Great job on listening to your ankle instead of the scale and doing TBT LB and LIC Abs instead of AB! Wow, I can’t believe you made all that stuff from scratch. Were you in the kitchen all day on Sunday? Well, the good news, I read somewhere that cooking burns like 150 calories an hour (maybe more than that). While not as great a burn as Afterburn at least you can know you burned something while making all that.

Janie I love your enthusiasm with your grandbaby! It really shows how much you love and care for your family. Hope your check up goes well with the doctor. When you get to the beach house, take an extra long walk for me. I still haven’t gotten back on track with eating well and I need all the help I can get right now.

Have a great day!

Pam It is going to get cold where you are. I hope your heated cat house arrives soon too. I like the idea of two doors so they do have an escape route. The cheap shots in sports makes me angry too. At least the player that gave our player a concussion also got suspended for 5 games too. He should be used to it as this is not the first time he has been suspended. I thought the express clean max premix detailed exactly how I did the housework on Saturday :D. I am really enjoying yoga and I look forward to it now. I thought the class might be a bit more crowded so I made sure I was there early. I know it will be back to normal in February. Good job with TBT Lower Body and the ab work. You were smart to leave AB until another time. Manual driving can be really hard with a sprained ankle. I hope your ankle doesn't talk to you for too long :). Your dinner sounds really good. Even homemade ice cream and fudge sauce!!!!! That must have taken some time to do everything from scratch but those are the best meals.

Julie You still got some exercise cleaning up the yard, but yoga would have been a nice add on after all of that. Good job on disc 16, I did that one today too as it is in Cathe's January rotation that I started today. I need to get the house all cleaned up this Saturday too. My clean max express premix was OK but I need to do more. Hopefully your DH doesn't have to take meds every day for his migraines but I guess popping a pill everyday is better than getting a migraine.

So tonight I started Cathe's 3 1/2 month January rotation with STS disk 16. I am going to forget about trying to get up early to do it and just stick with evening workouts for now. Maybe when the weather gets better I will have more energy to get up early.

Have a great day everyone.

Cheryl

Just a quick hello to all!! OMG I have being so busy doing laundry getting stuff together for our little vacation we are having a little road trip so I won't be here till next week.
I don't think we will have the internet so I won't even going to bother login in, maybe FB once in while but who knows, I see that all of you are doing great with your workouts I haven't done anything so when we get back I'm already planing a big, emergency diet/workout I'm going to need it really bad.
Well stay safe, have fun, workout hard NOT YOU PAM!!! take care of that ankle when I get back I will let you all know what we did, its going to be very interesting..... Oh boy! I'm missing my Sam already:(
Talk to you guys latter.

Don't know when I'll be going to the beach house. I hope sometime this week but most likely next week. Joey is going to take back the fixed water heater tomorrow. Then I think he will come back the next day. It might be next Monday before I get over there. Doctor gave me a clean bill of health. Said to use the neti pot twice a day to prevent a lot of my clearing of throat and coughing to clear throat. Also she gave me a drug to try called Zantac. I'm so afraid to do that, because of the awful experience I had from another drug. This one is suppose to be different. I really like my licorice root and papaya enzyme the best. I'll think about it though.

Cheryl, I did enjoy my grandson. He is such a doll baby. Great job on yoga.

Pam, Great job on TBT Lower Body and abs for LIC. Oh dear, using the clutch made your ankle sore. I'm so sorry. I love pasta too! Sounds like a heavenly dinner. I'll probably gain weight just reading about that wonderful dinner and homemade toffee chunk ice cream w/ homemade hot fudge. OMG! :p Our beach house is the same as we left it before Christmas. Lots of painting to do, then the floors. Each room takes about two days to paint, sometimes longer. Am really wanting to work on it ASAP.

Julie, Cleaning up the yard is a workout to me plus giving Maggie a walk topped it off just right. When I finally get to the beach I will walk a mile or so just for you. Hope you have some DOM's. :D

Cheryl, Ooooooo the 3 1/2 month Jan. rotation. You are thinking big. Good for you! Great job on STS disc 16.

Eunice, Enjoy your road trip, it's always good to have some fun.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Julie I'm sure you got quite a workout in doing the yard work. That can be tough! OMG, some of those balancing exercises in TBT are just crazy! One of my FB friends has been getting a real kick out of the fact that the yoga I did was called yoga express. I think she is still chuckling about it! I didn't get started on my cooking marathon on Sunday until about 3:00, so needless to say we didn't eat until 8:30. I was taking my time though because DH had all of the neighbor guys over to watch the Steelers lose to Denver, so there was no way we were eating dinner until that game was over anyway. LOL, good to know that I at least burned a few calories while producing so many to consume!

Cheryl At least the heating pad that I ordered should be here before the cold weather as I got an email that it has shipped. Not sure about the cat house though. It's funny how both cats are patiently waiting for me on the side porch now. I would think that if that hockey player ahs a history of those violent incidents that after a certain number he should be banned from playing at all. I'm not sure a 5 game suspension is enough!! Of course I'm not the one making the rules  I need to get to the point where I am looking forward to yoga. It's such a good thing for your body!
Great job on disc 16. I hope that your evening workouts work better for you. It really is tough to fit everything in.

Eunice I hope you have a great time on your roadtrip, I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back! My emergency diet is happening next week since my DH will be out of town for the week :D I was laughing at Brandy's comments on FB about the trip. She isn't too excited but I bet she will have a great time! Oh poor Sam doesn't get to go :( I know you will spoil him rotten when you get back though!

Janie Well at least you will have hot water when you do go to the beach house. It wouldn't be too much fun if you had to tack cold showers (or maybe no showers!) So glad to hear that the Dr gave you a clean bill of health! At least you know you have the drug that she gave you as a backup option. I have heard of Zantac before, I may have even taken it before! Is it for indigestion and heartburn? I think the kids favorite part about the meal the other night was the ice cream and hot fudge sauce, although they did say that they really liked the noodles. They are already putting in orders for what the next ice cream flavor should be  How many more rooms are left to paint at the beach house?

This morning I decided it was time to try some cardio so I went with DHs advice and did the bike. I have a spinervals DVD that is really good and I did that. It went really well, no issue with the ankle at all even when cranking up the tension. Man it was tough too! Brenda from Cathe's videos is even in it :D It was good to get in a nice sweat! So I forgot to share our exciting news this weekend, we signed a contract to have our basement finished. DH always planned on doing it himself, but after living there for 8 years with little progress he decided that was not going to happen. They are supposed to come over today to start with some of the plumbing work. The builder said it should be done in 6 weeks, but of course we are not counting on it being that quick. Have a great day everyone!

Pam

Last night I did disc 16, chest, shoulders, and triceps. I think my weight selection was pretty good for most of the exercises. My arms felt like jello afterwards and lifting my arms was very questionable. This morning I did HiiT DWP and the Abs from Pure Strength Back. DH saw the doctor yesterday and they determined he has a sinus infection and gave him an antibiotic and a nasal spray medication. They also put him on a daily headache preventative medication (can’t remember the name) on a trial basis for a month. He saw a new doctor and the first thing he told me when he got home was that he did not like him because she told him he needed to lose weight, eat healthier, and quit smoking. I was a good girl and bit my tongue to prevent saying I told you so.

Cheryl Great job on disc 16! That’s the same disc I did last night. Those back off sets are kind of fun because you feel so strong but then again it is like super lightweight compared to what you were lifting. Good plan to do what works for you. I can’t wait to see how you like the rotation because I am planning on starting that in March when I finish this round of STS. It looks like fun in a challenging sort of way! :D Well, DH’s doctor wants to try a daily headache preventative med. I guess if it works that is better than getting headaches every day.

Eunice Have a great mini-vacation! We’ll miss you but you have fun! Sam will miss you too but will forget all about it as soon as he sees you guys again.

Janie That’s great news on the clean bill of health. So what is licorice rot and papaya enzyme used for? Is it for your GERD? We have been trying to take Maggie on some more walks because she gained about 5 pounds and with her hip dysplasia that is not good. So I guess DH, Maggie, and I all need to go on diets and lose a few pounds. So far, no DOMS but I usually don’t feel them until the next afternoon when I work out in the evening.

Pam Great job on the spinervals DVD! That is exciting news about the basement. So will you be getting a new exercise area to play with? 8 weeks sounds pretty fast but maybe if they have enough workers and yours is the only job they do it will be right on. Is your DH a Steeler’s fan? I was thinking he was but from the way you worded them getting together to watch them lose to Denver sounds like maybe not. I don’t enjoy football but that was a pretty exciting game in the second half and overtime. Can I put in an order for the next ice cream flavor? JK! :p

Have a great day!

Eunice Enjoy your mini vacation. Post when you get back and fill us in on your trip.

Janie Glad that you got a clean bill of health from your Doctor. I have heard of Zantac but I can't remember what it does. I thought I would try the three month rotation since I need to get my butt in gear.

Pam It is nice that the cats are waiting for you to come home. They know you are the one who looks after them. Let me know how they like the heating pad and the cat house. They will never ban players from playing at all but at least they are kicked out for a while. I now look forward to yoga, it took me a while but I really enjoy it now. Good job on the spinervals DVD. Nice that Brenda was in that video too. Nice that you are getting someone to finish the basement for you. Are you going to have a workout room down there too?

Julie Good job on Hiit DWP and your ab work. I am really feeling disk 16 in the chest and triceps today. The back off sets are kinda fun. I will let you know what I think of this rotation. That is good that your DH has a sinus infection and not migrains. Isn't that just like a man to be upset that the new doctor wants him to lose weight and quit smoking. Biting your tongue was probably the best thing to do though I know it was hard. He will have to make up his mind to do it.

Today was TBT Lower Body. My back was feeling it a bit during this workout so for the deadlifts I had to really lower the weight and not go down so far. And those one legged squats  I need to work on those.

Cheryl

Joey called from the beach house and I might go there tomorrow maybe. If I do, it will be about 2-7 days. We really need to get some work done and start painting more rooms. Wasn't motivated to workout today. I'm really falling behind. I'll try to get some long walks and jogs in.

Pam, Great job on the spinerval DVD. So glad there was no issue from your ankle. Really? Brenda is in it? Cool! Ooooooo, how nice to contract your basement. Tell me more. Will you use it as a workout place, what? I'm excited for you! They could be done in abut 6 weeks. They are pretty good in estimating, at least from our experience with contractors. Yes, Zantac is for heartburn, GERD. I don't trust it, since I had a horrible reaction to another drug. Same side effects makes me want to stay clear of it. We still need to paint, hallway, bathroom, Joe's room, living room, gaming room and kitchen/reading/computer room, and laundry room.

Julie, Licorice root and papaya enzyme I use after every meal and before I go to bed for GERD. Sometimes in-between that if my GERD gets the better of me. Poor Maggie. Great job on disc 16, chest, shoulders, and triceps. When you have DOM's the way you have, you know you did a great job on the exercises. Good for you! Also great job on Hiit DWP and abs. So glad your DH is getting meds to make him feel better. Ooooooo, you were a good girl biting your tongue. :D Maybe now he and you could workout together?

Cheryl, I'm doing so badly right now, can't find the motivation to workout. Hopefully will take long walks and jogs at the ocean while I'm there. Great job on TBT lower Body. I have to really lower the weights when it comes to dead lifts. I don't like them because it's so touchy on my back. I think you did a great job protecting yourself from injury. You did good!

Take care guys,

Janie

Julie Great job on disc 16! How are your arms doing today? I always know that I overdid it if I have to use my other hand to hold my arm up to blow dry my hair in the morning. From your description of your post workout arms yesterday it sounds like you may be in danger of that today! Great job on Hiit DWP and abs too! You were surprised that your DHs other Dr never told him those things, it sounds like he is going to the right person now! Do you think he will listen??? That is always that tricky part. Good for you for holding your tongue, I'm sure it was hard.
Hopefully the headache medicine will help. Yuck sinus infections are no fun at all!
No new exercise area for me in the basement, I will be sticking with my spot upstairs. We did the fireplace in the basement a few years ago so we are going to have a sitting area around the fireplace, a home theater room, a bathroom and a bar down there. There is a spot for a table or something so we will probably put some kind of game table there.
Oh yes, DH is a Steelers fan. He definitely was not happy about watching them lose! What a crazy game too. He usually gets very worked up when they lost, but he just laughed because he couldn't believe it! Oh yes, get your ice cream order in :p So far I have requests for mint chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough.

Cheryl Well the heating pad should be here before the cold weather but the shipping notification for the cat house says it won't be here until Monday :( Of course they have gotten by this long without it so a couple more days shouldn't matter, except for me worrying about them  Rusty actually walked toward me when I went out this morning and came within a foot of me. That is real progress, he has never gotten that close or walk toward me when I go out. DH says he will never let me touch him, but I'm not so sure. No workout room in the basement, but I may end up getting more room upstairs if we decided to move the foosball or pool table down there.
Great job on TBT Lower Body. I did that one on Monday and am still feeling it! Those one legged squats are hard but the really crazy ones for me are the ones where you stand on one leg and alternate setting the dumbbells down outside the opposite leg. I am wobbling all over the place on those!

Janie If you aren't feeling motivated for your workouts maybe it is time to switch things up for awhile. Did your spin bike arrive yet? That might be a nice change of pace. Of course painting and nice long wlaks on the beach will be good too! So as I mentioned to Julie above, the basement is going to be a hangout/movie/game spot. There will be a bar, home theater and then a seating area in front of the fireplace. We had the stone fireplace done a few years ago. The plumbers came yesterday and roughed in the plumbing and the inspectors are coming to inspect that today. Very exciting! I guess you have had better experience with contractors than we have. When we built our house he told us it would take about 5-6 months and it took just a couple of weeks short of a year. Luckily we weren't in a hurry! Everyone has been telling us to double whatever time estimate he gives us. The guy doing it is a neighbor though and I was impressed that he got started immediately. We signed the contract on Saturday and the plumbers were there yesterday. I think work is pretty sparse for those guys these days unfortunately.

This morning I did Total Body STS. I did the "express" premix with no bonus burns. It was ONLY 61 minutes instead of 66. Not so express if you ask me! It was a good workout and hopefully will help shake off those DOMs from TBT LB. Have a great day everyone!

Pam

This morning was disc 17, legs and those wonderful exhausting trisets. I love how fast these workouts go and the fact that my legs feel like jello afterwards. This is the disc that I remember from my first STS round that gave me crazy, intense, 3-day DOMS. I’m anxiously awaiting trying to get out of bed tomorrow morning and not having my legs work.

Cheryl Great job on TBT LB! And for listening to your back and lightening up. I have 1-legged deadlifts on tap for tomorrow’s workout and I have already made a note on my STS card to pay attention to form and weight selection because those can really tweak my back if I am not careful. Those 1-legged squats are fun but very challenging. I am weebling and wobbling all over the place with those. I told DH that I would be willing to give up Cathe to do P90X with him if/when he is ready. I may regret that but if it helps him it would be worth the sacrifice.

Janie I’m sorry you are having trouble motivating yourself. Maybe it is from feeling overwhelmed with everything you need to do at the beach house. Hopefully, once you can get some of those things checked off you will start to feel motivated again. Walking/jogging on the beach sounds nice. Of course, Pam may have hit on the head too with just needing to shake things up a bit to reignite your fire. I would love to workout with DH. He doesn’t want to workout to STS (silly man doesn’t think a woman can lead a good workout); so, I told him we could look into P90X when he is ready and that I would give up Cathe for him.

Pam Great job on STS TB EP! Yeah, I would say 5 minutes being shaved off doesn’t make something express. My arms are better today than yesterday afternoon when my triceps got stiff from the DOMS. Actually to the point that touching them hurt a little. I hope that is a good sign because my triceps need all the help they can get. Your hairdryer story sounds like my hair washing sometimes. If my arms are super worn out, I have to take breaks to let them rest while rinsing the shampoo or conditioner out of my hair. DH is thinking and talking about getting in shape/healthy more than he used to so that is a good sign. I just hope it lasts. Your basement sounds great even without a workout area. It sounds like a great place to get together with friends and hang out/relax. That’s good that DH was able to laugh about the loss instead of getting angry. My DH used to get so mad when his team lost and I could never understand it. My order is Mint Chocolate Chip or anything Dark Chocolate. So do you have an ice cream maker machine?

Have a great day!

Well, I'm still here. Joey told me the fridge died. So he has to stay there until at least Sat. until they deliver a new one for us. In the meantime, he will paint the bathroom and hopefully get started in the hallway or his bedroom.

In the meantime for me, I hit a slump and needed to get out of it. I did some soul searching and came up with something in the back of my mind that I have always wanted to try. What better time than to do it now. Body Building. I wanted it to be with Cathe DVD's but not certain on how I should approach it. So, I got on the Ask Cathe forum and asked her if she had the time to help guide me with a rotation. She did better than that and I now have my workouts cut out for me for at (I think) 8 months. OMG! She was so generous with her time to set it all up for me. I couldn't be more pleased. Bless her heart. I am so thrilled!

Cathe even told me what diet to go on. The Paleo Diet, so I got that now on my Kindle along with the cookbook. There are several authors out there and chose Loren Cordain. He seemed to have the greater knowledge under his belt.

The first thing on the list is STS. Got out the STS Users Guide. Today I did STS meso 1 Chest, Shoulders & Biceps with the stretching at the end. Whew! My body is pure jello now and needed a rest before the ab work. Did Ab Circuits - Yoga-Inspired Abs and the stretch after that. Took a long hot soak in the tub. I think this was a little less than two hours to do. At least it felt like that.:D I didn't time myself though. Just the thing I needed to jump start my goals. After 3 1/2 months, this will complete phase 1. Then on to other things as described by Cathe.

I'm sorry for Joey, but I really need more than TBS all the time, so unless he wants to exercise with me, we won't be exercising together. At least not this year. Hope sometimes he will join in with me, he knows he is welcome.

Pam, Great job on TB STS. Just the thing I think too, for shaking off those DOM's. Ths spin bike did arrive. But, until we move our couch to the beach, won't be able to use it. No room. I'll do other cardio until then. DARN! I bet you are so excited to get the basement in tip top shape for the hangout/movie/game spot. Sounds wonderful. I hope it won't be too long before you can use it.

Julie, Great job on disc 17, legs. I hope you can move enough to get out of bed tomorrow. ;) I did for sure shake things up a bit on my exercises. LOL:D I have FIRE! You know, since Cathe came up with a rotation on body building, maybe he could try that. At least give one try to see how he likes it. She is one tough cookie. I'm waging he will have a hard time with it. I hope you don't give up Cathe.:( Maybe there is compromising to be done, but please don't give up Cathe entirely. It would be a mistake. You can do both. One day do P90X and cardio the next day. Then do STS whatever you feel is appropriate. Then again the next day cardio. Make sure you have at least one day off and also do abs and stretch. That would be so cool! Talk about muscle confusion! It's a good compromise.

Take care,

Janie

Julie Great job on disc 17, maybe the leg DOMs will take your mind off your arm DOMS :p I hope you were able to get out of bed this morning without your legs collapsing on you ;) Oh you know you are in trouble if your arms were hurting to the touch! I think it is a good sign that you are working them hard. I was laughing when reading about you having to take breaks while shampooing to give your arms a rest. The things we choose to do to ourselves, huh? I'm glad to hear that your DH is talking about getting into shape and it would be nice for you to do something with him at least at first to keep him motivated. Maybe once he gets into it he will feel more self-motivated, but it can definitely help if you have someone to share the pain with and push you. I have been trying to get my DH to do STS, I think he would really like it. What is with these guys who think that a woman can't do a great weight workout anyway?!
My DH usually gets upset when the Steelers lose, so I was happy that he took this loss so well. I think everyone is a little amazed at the whole Tim Tebow thing right now! I got the ice cream maker attachment for my Kitchenaid for Christmas and a Ben and Jerry's ice cream recipe book. It's great, because as long as you keep the attachment in the freezer you can just pull it out and have a batch made in 20 minutes! I think mint chocolate chip will most likely be next.

Janie Oh no, a new fridge now too?! Errrrrr, that must be frustrating for you. At least you are getting to buckle down on your workouts though. I think it is fabulous that Cathe was so generous to design a rotation for you. How impressive! It sounds like you hit it hard too, great job!!! I have heard a lot about the paleo diet but don't really know anything about it. I'm excited for you to have such a clear cut plan though! 8 months, holy cow!!! Great job on CSBis stretching and abs!!! You go girl!
I would get burned out if I was doing the same workout all the time too, so I think you are smart to do your own thing and let Joey join you if he wants. Maybe he will be inspired and break out of his TBS rut? You never know......
Oh that is too bad that you can't use your spin bike yet, so now it is just taunting you! ;) Hopefully you will get to test drive it soon.

Cheryl I hope your evening workouts are working out for you and that you are having a great week!

Eunice I hope you are having a great time on your vacation!

This morning I did Cycle Max. I remember the first time I did it thinking it was a little easy. I think it was really just me holding back since I didn't really know what was coming. I had a better idea of what to expect this time so I didn't hold back and holy cow! I was wiped by the end. Whew, it was tough! OK, I need to share a funny story with you ladies. My DH and I have always had this thing where we each declare someone that if given the opportunity it would be ok to have a fling with. This can't be the checkout girl at the Food Lion or something, it needs to be a celebrity or model or someone like that. So my current guy is George Clooney. I think DHs most recent was Jessica Alba. I was talking about Cathe the other day and mentioned something about her being divorced and DHs ears perked up and he said 'you mean Cathe is available?' Then he declared that Cathe is his new choice! I thought that was pretty funny. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day, I need to get some work done!

Pam

This morning my legs were feeling much better than my last go round with disc 17. I did Yoga Max but I should have probably done disc 18, back and biceps. I have a feeling I will be getting home late tonight. We are getting our first snow storm of the winter. Up until today, we have had a mild winter with temps in the 40s and 50s. Today we are supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow during the day and into the evening with wind gusts exceeding 30 mph. With the blowing, I know my drive home will be slow and painful. :( Ok, I’ll stop whining now.

Janie Great job on completing disc 1 and yoga abs! Good for you for taking the time to ask yourself what you really want, researching it, asking for help, and then going for it. I saw the rotation Cathe gave you and it looks really good. We are here to support you so if you need a little extra push some day feel free to lean on us. I would love DH to get over his female trainer phobia or whatever it is. I’m hoping that if he can at least get into the habit of working out maybe he would be more willing to try STS. I hope Joey gives your rotation a try, even if it is only a few times a week and not the whole thing.

Pam Great job on Cycle Max! I agree if you really are not holding back on the resistance, it is tough and quite a sweat fest. The music is really low and that is probably my only complaint. I love your story. If you ever watched Friends, they had an episode about the “list”, although they picked 5 celebrities. I guess now you know DH shouldn’t come along to any road trips with you! ;) I’m a little surprised at how little my legs hurt this time around but then again it is entirely possible that when I did disc 17 the first time through that I wasn’t doing something right or went way too heavy and that caused the extra-long DOMS. That is my hope too, that if DH starts working out and I do 1 round of P90X with him maybe he will then have motivation to work out on his own if he still refuses to do STS with me. Mint chocolate chip sounds so yummy. I tend to like my chocolate chips to be shaved chocolate rather than actual chips or chunks. I like the texture and how the shavings melt on your tongue with the ice cream. But I guess you should make it how you like it since it is not for me. :p

Have a great day!

Did Hiit 40/20 today. My body was so tired today and of course DOM's big time.:D

Pam, Great job on Cycle Max. Can't wait until I can do that too.:) It's really nice to get back into the swing of things. I love variety and middle name is variety.:D So glad Cycle Max isn't as easy as you thought. Yea! What a funny story. You guys are so cute together. FUN, with Cathe!

Julie, Great job on Yoga Max. We are also threatened with snow, but just a little, maybe an inch. But, they've been known to be wrong a lot. OMG, your snow storm sounds awfully dangerous. Stay safe and warm. Well, I did ask for help, or complained anyway, and all of you were very supportive. That's why I love this group. You all care. I know I will need some pushes on some days, so bring it on please. Perhaps invite your DH to P90X then you have 3 months to figure out that he needs to confuse the body for better strength and do the STS program, since you did the P90X program with him. Or something like that. Or do both together and intermingle them. It's not just him or just you anymore, it's the both of you, if he will do it at all. I hope he does for good health.;) Yes, I hope Joey will join in my exercise every now and then. I'll miss him.

Take care stay warm and safe,

Janie

Well last night’s drive wasn’t too bad. I got started with disc 18, back and biceps about 40 minutes past normal time. This morning was a 55 minute spin video set in Hawaii—perfect for going outside in 10 degree weather.

Janie Great job on 40/20! That one is a doozy! Gotta love those DOMS! You worked hard yesterday and your body is rewarding you with the pleasant soreness. Ok, now I’m just getting goofy on you! The snow storm actually wasn’t too bad. The roads were not snow packed like usual. Instead, the snow was so light and powdery that it just blew right across the roads without sticking. There were a few spots, like bridges and intersections, where it was snow packed but still manageable without stressing too bad.

Have a great day!

Did STS Meso 1 Back & Triceps. I have to wait tonight to do my Stability Ball Abs. Whew! Will get it done just not now. Whew! Update: Did the Stability Ball Abs, with lots of modification to the last few I did. Couldn't do the last three. No way. I couldn't even attempt them.

DOM's, DOM's, DOM's, they are everywhere.
DOM's, DOM's DOM's, OUCH! Fills the air.
Lourder. Louder. Louder is the blasting blare
and there's no silence in the night.

DOM's, DOM's, DOM's, OUCH! Heard three miles away.
Five. Six. Seven beyond that neighbors say.
DOM's. DOM's multiplying more each workout
and there's no silence in the night.

DOM's, DOM's do try to seek them out.
DOM's. DOM's. DOM's feeling them all about.
Kneed. Kneed. Kneed them and kneed them out.
cause there's no silence in the night.

DOM's. DOM's their bad is only good.
Lifting. Lifting. Lifting with the weight.
No! You say no, but you know Cathe,
and there's no silence in the night.

DOM's. DOM's don't you know the strain?
DOM's DOM's. Please, please, please refrain
and listen (OUCH, OUCH), there they go again. DOM's. DOM's
and there's no silence in the night.

My made up version, of a poem from Red Skelton. LOL:D

Julie, So glad that the snow storm this time wasn't as bad as predicted. Great job on disc 18, back and biceps and the 55 min. spin video set in Hawaii. Brrrrrrrrr 10 degree weather.

Still, be careful and watch out for black ice. Stay warm and comfy.

Julie I'm glad to hear that your legs didn't suffer as much from disc 17 this time! Good for you doing Yoga Max! Oh man I hate snow stroms, but glad to hear that it wasn't too bad. That can be sooo stressful driving when the roads are slippery. Great job on disc 18 and spinning in Hawaii too! I told DH that you said I better not bring him on any road trips now so now of course he is asking when the next one is. My DH hasn't been cycling anymore, but he has been doing the push up challenge since Christmas time, is doing pull ups and then goes out and shoots baskets for awhile. I'm still working on him for STS. OOooooo, I like your idea of the shaved chocolate. The frozen custard place we go to makes something called concretes, where they mix whatever you want into them and then they turn them upside down to show how thick they are. I always get mint chocolate chip and that's how the chocolate is in those. I think they drizzle chocolate into the custard and then blend it all up and it ends up like that. Now I'm getting hungry  I really like chunks and chips too though :D

Janie Great job on 40/20!!! That is such a tough workout, especially when you have major DOMs already! I just love your DOMs poem, you nut! That is so funny! Great job on STS back and triceps and stability ball abs too! Wow, you are just going to town. I think stability ball abs is the hardest of Cathe's ab routines, it is just a killer. I don't even try to do those 1 legged pikes.

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday because we had a busy day. We both worked at home because we had a couple of meetings with the biulder and the electrician and the home theater guy. So in between working we were running downstairs and meeting with contractors. We are getting excited about getting the basement done. Yesterday morning I decided to give Afterburn a try and I made it through it fine. My reasoning was that it should be ok on my ankle because it is low impact and it was just fine. Then last night my DH taught me how to tape my ankle which I did before my workout this morning and that was awesome with all that support! I did Athletic training and a Bosu ab workout this morning. Yea! As a basketball player DH dealt with many sprained ankles in his life so he has all the tips. I had to take him to the airport this morning for a 7 am flight so now I'm off to the shower and errands. I hope everyone has a great day!

Janie I saw the body building routine that Cathe set up for you. It looks really good. I sometimes have the same problem with not being motivated and sometimes all it takes is to set a goal to get back into it. It is too bad that you can't workout with Joey but you have to do what is best for you. I would go crazy doing the same workout all of the time. I love your poem about DOMS.

Pam Sounds like Rusty is getting used to you now. Too bad you won't get the cat house until Monday but they should be able to get by until then. Even though they are out door cats they are still your fur babies and you will worry about them. The one-legged squats where you set the dumbbells down is crazy. I always lose my balance on those. Oh wow the STS Total body express is only 61 minutes. Doesn't sound much like an express workout . Too funny about who you would want to have a fling with and hubby would like Cathe. I agree with you that George Clooney would be great to have a fling with. So exciting to have your basement finished. I like the idea of a seating area around the fireplace and a bar. It will be nice a cozy down there.

Julie I really like the leg trisets in STS meso 2. Those workouts do go by fast. I do have to be careful with deadlifts. Somedays I am fine and can go heavy but there are other days where I have to lighten a lot or not do them at all. You are so good to tell DH that you will do P90X with him. Personally I can't stand Tony Horton, he just drives me nuts. I find Cathe to be a far superior instructor. Glad that your drive home in the snow wasn't too bad. It sounds like winter has finally hit back east.

Well I haven't had a chance to post for several days. Wednesday we went to get groceries after work and I was so tired when we got home that I pretty much just went to bed . Thursday I did STS Disk 18 Back and Biceps. By the time it was over and I got a few things done it was time for bed and yesterday I had things to do after work so I managed to get up early and do Low Impact Challenge. Today was Afterburn and that was a doozy. After that it was housework and cleaning off the sidewalks after we got a bit of snow overnight. It isn't too bad now since it has warmed up a bit but we may still get some tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Cheryl
