Strength in Numbers

This morning was Disc 2: Back & Triceps. I surprised myself and got 12 chinups in the first round but could only do 9 on round 2 and only 3 measly pull-ups (of course these were all assisted using the band). Oh well, I knew those were going to be a struggle for me especially after all that back work in the workout. After that, I did a little paint stripping and then clear coated one of our new doors. Probably will be back at it again tonight! :(

Janie Great job on your 40 min. walk! Sounds like you kept busy and got a lot done plus had time to relax. Those are the best type of days. I am glad I am sticking with STS too. Even though it might have been better to start a week later, I am going to push through and I am sure I will still results and gains. I just have to work on sleeping better at night.

Pam Great job on RS! That one is so much fun to do even for choreography challenged me! Good luck on the pushup challenge. I know it is a struggle to want to do it but it really helped me increase my reps. I like your strategy of finishing out the reps on your knees. Have fun in CA!

Cheryl I am starting to worry about you but hope you are just busy and haven’t had time to post lately.

Have a wonderful Wednesday (1/2 way through the week )!

I am here. It looks like everyone is doing well with their workouts. I am still struggling so I am getting a bit embarrased in posting that I was too tired to do anything. I am always waking up during the night which means I am tired and I don't want to get out of bed and I am too tired to do it after I get home from work. I am going to try to change some things up, the cats can't sleep with me anymore (except the weekends) and I have bought some melatonin to see if that will help me. I never have a problem on the weekend to workout, it is just the work week and of course there are 5 days in that :(. I am really missing my workouts so I really hope this helps.

On the bright side the Canucks are doing well. They are winning the second round 2 games to 1 against the Nashville Predators. They play again tomorrow and I get to wear my Canuck Jersey to work tomorrow..... Yeah.

If I can get a good nights sleep tonight I will do a morning workout tomorrow.

Have a great Thursday everyone.

Cheryl

Had a pap smear today and told my doc other things I felt were happening to me. Sometimes at night I would wake up gasping for air, and I'm always clearing my throat ever since I quit smoking 20 years ago.
Joey said something to me about it so I told the doctor. That made me get all kinds of tests. I stayed at Group Health for 5 hours to take some of them. I'm not done yet.
I had allergy tests. OMG! Talk about torture! They pricked me with a pin on both arms 40 different times with allergens to see if I was allergic to any of them. It felt like piercing my ears 40 different times only on your arms, it was that type of pain. But then again, I don't do well with pain. Then they took a syringe and put allergens deeper under the skin close to my triceps on one arm. It didn't hurt as much, but still. Jeesh. Also had blood taken that filled 4 or 5 vials. What else? Oh, they took ex-rays of my lungs and sinuses.
My next tests will be later this month for a Mammogram of one of my breasts that I believe has scare tissue inside where my implant were. (I had an ex-plant done a few years ago) But my doctor wants it tested again and an ultrasound, then, they want to test me for sleep apnea. I believe they give you something to go to sleep and they monitor what happens while asleep.
Well, I'm glad so far that I have no allergies, I think my lungs are OK, don't know about my sinuses yet. One of the tests show that I have high cholesterol at 259, so I promised myself to start right now and lower it with the correct foods and a journal to stay on it. A lot for one day. Whew!
I've been enjoying too much chocolate and chips I think. No wonder I can't lose weight. Why did I do that to myself? Oh well, back on the wagon I go, and this time it has to work, my health is really at stake now.

Pam, Great job on RS, you know I love that one. Good for you. Oh, the push up challenge, wow, you have guts. I'm cheering you on! Will love to hear your progress. Enjoy CA and looking forward for you to check in and telling us all about it.:D

Julie, Great job on STS back and Triceps. OMG! You are so improving with all those chin ups. Good for you! Assisted or not, that to me is amazing! Are you almost done with painting and staining yet? I have no doubt that you will see results and gains. Sleep tight and don't let they bed bugs bite.

Cheryl, Oh please try not to feel embarrassed about being tired and all that stuff. It sounds you are making changes and that is the important thing right now. You are so inspiring to me. Without enough sleep you still try your hardest to get your workout in. And now you are making changes to improve that. That is very inspriring to me. With all the wrong stuff I'm been doing to my body, I'm embarrassed as well. I'm also going to make changes right now, so I can live a happier and healthier. We can do it together. ;) Don't you have to get up really really early. I don't envy that, but I admire it.

Janie

Last night I finished my paint stripping and got started on staining more trim. This morning I did Kick, Punch, & Crunch. Just like Imax 2, that one never gets old!! After that, I stained a little more which I will probably do some more tonight. I am very close to being done with the staining!! Just a couple more days! :D

Cheryl Glad to see you are back to posting but sorry to see you are not sleeping well. Not getting enough sleep definitely makes it hard to work out. I found taking Melatonin and Valerian Root at night has helped me. It doesn’t help every night but I am definitely getting better sleep in general than before I started taking them. Hope you got a better night’s sleep.

Janie Wow, your day was filled with unpleasant activities but necessary ones at that. I hope all the tests come back ok or at least pinpoint the problem so it can be corrected. Let us know how the sleep apnea testing goes. I have often thought I have sleep apnea but have been putting off getting tested because it doesn’t sound like fun. Good luck on cleaning up your diet. We will be here to support you and now that you know you need to for health not just weight loss that should give you more of push to stick with it.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Rolly and I walked for 35 min. Threatened to rain, but we made it through without getting wet. On the 14th, Joey and I will be celebrating Rolly being with us for one year and he will be 3 years old about that time. Lucky us.

Julie, Yea! You finished the paint stripping. One less thing you have to do. I bet you can't wait to get the staining done. Very soon now, good. Great job on KP&C. I think I will need support on my eating habits. I think it's food addiction.

Janie

Janie You had quite the day today. The allergy test do not sound like fun, I hate needles. I think my DH has sleep apnea too but he won't get tested. I find that when the weather is crappy like it has been here for quite a while now I want to eat chips and chocolate too. This morning even though I wasn't hungry I wanted to have a chocolate muffin. I resisted but it was hard. I have to get up by 3:45 to do my workout in the morning. I think Julie gets up even earlier than that. I can't do evenings because too much stuff gets in the way and now that the weather is getting better (sort of) the neighbours are all out and it takes forever to get in the front door. Rolly was a lucky dog when you adopted him. Hard to believe that it has been a year already.

Julie Your paint stripping and painting probably feel like a pain now but it will be so worth in once it is done. KPC is a fun workout, I managed to do that one on Tuesday. I used to take Valerian Root years ago. I should try that again. I slept OK last night, not great but better than I had been.

This morning I managed to do Step Moves. I slept OK, I am hoping that one day I will be able to sleep through the night without waking up. Right now I am watching hockey and we are leading Nashville 2-1 near the end of the second period. Woo Hoo, if we can win tonight we only have to win one more game to take the series.

Well I had a horrible morning but not because of my workout. I got up super early (2:45 ) so that Jason could help me set up another door to stain before he left for work at 3. After that I had a blast and got my legs and butt kicked during STS Disc 3. I got done early enough to work on more staining so I went out and did that.

Well I ended up spending too much time out in the garage working and ended up being 30 minutes late feeding my dogs. Apparently that did not sit well with Maggie because when I came in, she had gotten onto the table and pulled down a bag of double-dipped dark chocolate covered almonds and ate most of them along with some bread and yogurt covered pretzels. I could have cared less about the bread and pretzels but chocolate can kill dogs. So I had to call the vet hospital and ask them what to do at 5:45 in the morning. They advised me to force her to drink pyroxide which would induce vomiting within 15-20 minutes. Within the next hour she had thrown up 8 times! :( I called my dad to come out and be with her because I had to run into work and get my laptop since I will be working from home next week.

I am so mad at myself for neglecting her to the point she went stir crazy! And of course, I am freaking out that she could have serious health problems because of eating the chocolate! I just kept telling myself that if I could get the staining done, I would have so much more time to cuddle with her. Now she really deserves a big cuddle time. :(

Janie Great job on your walk and not getting wet! Happy Adoption Day for Rolly! I hope this is the 1st of many happy years to come with Rolly!Dogs bring so much love to our lives and ask for nothing but a little of our attention in returen. We always celebrate the anniversary of when we adopted Maggie as if it was her birthday since we don’t actually know her birthday.

Cheryl Great job on Step Moves! I wonder if sticking with the under an hour work outs will help so that you don’t have to wake up quite as early. I think the Melatonin is supposed to help you sleep almost instantly but the Valerian Root has to build up over a few days. At least that is what I think I remember reading. Sometimes I have to double up on the Valerian Root when I have several really bad days in a row. Good luck to the Canucks! I am sure they will pull it out!

Have a great Friday!

I thought I would quickly post now since I may not have time tonight since I am getting my hair done. This morning I did 4DS Lower Intensity Step and STS Med Ball Abs. Not feeling too tired right now.

Julie ((((HUGS)))) I hope Maggie is doing well. Don't blame yourself, you didn't do it on purpose and I wouldn't say that you neglected her you just lost track of the time. I think you got to her soon enough and vomiting that she should be fine. Keep us posted on how she is doing.
I may go and get the Valerian this weekend. I will see if it helps.

Cheryl

I am done with my staining!!! To celebrate, I did Drill Max Scrambled Cardio Blast Premix and the Extended STS Stretch!

We are also past the 24 hour mark for Maggie eating chocolate. She threw up a few times last night but so far nothing more. She is very lethargic (more so than usual) and I am betting she is just feeling awful. Poor baby@ :( I am so happy I am done with my staining so I can start spending more time with her. Although today is a tradition where my sister, my mom, and I spend all day shopping. Kind of like the day after Thanksgiving. But tomorrow will be the return of Lazy Day Sunday and I will snuggle with Maggie as much as possible! :D

Cheryl Thanks for the hugs and great job on 4DS LIS and STS Med Ball Abs!

Sorry for the short post but I have got to get shopping!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I got most of my ideas from making paper beads from this site:
My Paper Beads – Jane Mc Bride

Her name is Janice Mae and so incredibly gifted with craft ideas. She is making a project for everyday of the year (365 days). I wanted to help her in her goal, so I gave her a couple of ideas. Low and behold, she put them on her site! I'm so thrilled! Couldn't believe my eyes. It truly made my year. Check it out.

Did 45 min. on the treadmill today. To rainy outside for Rolly and I to walk. Darn.

Here is the latest.
396625175.jpg

Several more to go before I'm done with the Christmas project.

One of my sisters name is Melody. I'm thinking this would be for her.LOL

Cheryl, Very proud of you for resisting that muffin. It's hard isn't it? So far I'm back on track, for how long, who knows. With you all, how can I not do it, right? Great job on SM. I hope you get to sleep all night all the way through, soon. (((((hugs to you))))). Enjoy your game.

Julie, Oh my, I go to bed nearly at the time you get up. Great job on STS disc 3. Oh No! Poor Maggie. How is she doing? We celebrate Rolly's adopted day as a birthday too. We've been singing Happy Birthday to him and giving him presents and extra treats. LOL:D. He's right now enjoying popcorn with Joey while watching sports on TV. YEA! Your done with staining. Now you can enjoy your animals. Great job on DM, SCB premix and Extended STS Stretch. Good for you! Have fun shopping with your mom and sis. Please give Maggie a hug for me on Sun. while you snuggle with her.:)

Have a great weekend everyone,

Janie

Julie I am so happy that Maggie is OK. It is scary though. Yeah you are done staining and you can spend more time with her. Good job on Drill Max and the stretch. Enjoy shopping with your Mom and sister.

Janie That is great that Janie Mae put your projects on her site. I will have to go and check it out. I love the picture of the set that you posted. They are gorgeous. That muffin was hard to resist, but on Friday I gave in . I think it is the crappy weather that we are having that is making me crave carbs and it is starting to show since I am now getting my own muffin top .

This morning was yoga and yesterday I did a premix for Muscle Max, I was tired for some reason. Today we had my parents and brother over for a BBQ for Mother's Day.

Well back at it tomorrow.

Have a great Monday everyone.

Cheryl

Have another picture of my latest craft. Hope you are not getting tired of it. I love sharing them.

We had our asparagus from the garden yesterday. MMMMMMMM 5 or 6 more weeks of it. Yum Num. Lettuce are growing as well as the peas and sugar peas. Most of the tomato, basil and pepper plants have three leaves on them (there in the green house) Just planted carrots, so don't see much yet of them.

Have a Dental appt. tomorrow. Ugh. They keep wanting me to get ex-rayed and I keep refusing. I'm not into a lot of ex-rays. So I keep it at a low minimum.

All my daughters chipped in for a Spa treatment for a stone message on the 21. Plus a terrific lunch. They all also will be getting a wonderful treatment of some kind. I can't wait! It's for my birthday and Mother's day.

Speaking of Mother's Day, did everyone have a nice one? Joey and I had a play to go to called Unexpected Tenderness. It was about a dysfunctional family where the husband, his father and his father before him were wife beaters. It was a very intense play and I believe the best I saw ever. The father and his son were especially well played. The son was played by a boy 14 years old (he was 15 in the play) and I have to tell ya, he is going to have a fantastic career ahead of him. Him and his father (in the play) also narrated the play. With all those lines that seemed endless and necessary, that boy astonished me!

Joey, Rolly and I did TBS, with a segment of ab hits and segment of Cathe stretches. It was a good hour and half workout. I didn't realize how long that was. Went by fast, as usual.

Looks beautiful outside and Rolly and I will be in it very soon walking in the wood. Maybe, the dogs will join in. We'll see. Update: We walked an hour with no other dogs.

This was sent to us, very cool! Thought you might enjoy it as well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dqz3cUcSmhE

Cheryl, I know about giving into my temptations as well. What ever you do, just don't give up, keep trying as hard as you can. We'll get there sooner or later. Great job on yoga and the premix for MM. Sounds like you had a wonderful BBQ Mother's day with your parents and brother.

Hi to everyone else, see you around soon.

Janie

Janie I love your newest creation. Mmmmm I love asparagus, I eat as much as I can of it. Have fun at the dentist, I have to make an appointment, I am long overdue. So nice to have a Spa treatment it feels soooo good. The Youtube video was incredible. I remember watching her grandmother at the 1976 Olympics. I can't believe that Nadia is old enough to be a grandmother.

I am getting really fustrated. I couldn't sleep again last night. Hopefully I can sleep tonight and get a workout in.

Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Cheryl

Cheryl, I understand that it was a misprint on YouTube. Nadia has a child that is now 5 years old, and to me she doesn't look a day over 35. LOL:eek:

I'm so sorry about you not getting enough sleep. Maybe you should see a doctor. Perhaps they have a solution to the problem. Let's hope you have rest tonight.:)

See ya,

Janie

Hi ladies,
Just a quick check in to say hi and let you know that I'm back. Cheryl, so sorry that you are struggling right now :(. {{{{HUGS}}}} to you, hope you get through it soon. Julie, so sorry about your scare with Maggie, hope she is doing well now. Janie, all of your new pieces are just gorgeous!! Wow!

We had a great time on vacation and it was really hard getting up this morning. I did a short Minday workout (Down and Dirty step) to start getting back into the groove. Now to get back into the work groove....sigh Talk to you soon!

Pam

Sorry I have been MIA the last few days. Mother’s Day was lazy day Sunday for DH, the dogs, and I. It was wonderful but I ate horribly. Yesterday I did Intensity and Disc 4 of STS and ate horribly again. I am going to get back on track with my eating today. I guess it isn’t too bad that I had a few bad eating days since it has been months since my last cheat time. This morning I did double up my cardio again and did Low Max and HiiT 30/30. Since I am staying home this week while we are getting ceramic tile installed, I thought it would be a good idea to double on workouts.

An update on Maggie, she is back to her normal lazy girl self. Most of the day Saturday and partially on Sunday she was coughing but she hasn’t had any coughing episodes yesterday or today. I’m so relieved we were able to catch it before it got too late.

Janie Great job on the treadmill since you couldn’t make it outside. Your jewelry is just so pretty and you are just so creative! So cute Rolly is eating popcorn and watching TV with Joey. Maggie got plenty of hugs from me and Jason over the weekend! Fresh asparagus from the garden sounds delightful! My mom planted some last year but it will be another year before we can eat off it. You are so loved by your daughters to get a stone massage! That sounds wonderful for my sore STS worked muscles right now! Great job on TBS, abs, stretching, and your walk!

Cheryl Great job on yoga and your MM premix! I am so happy Maggie is doing good now! It certainly was scary though. Don’t worry about temptations. They come and go. I can be really good for a long time and then cave for a few days/weeks. Happens to us all. I do hope you can get back to sleeping though. Even if it wasn’t messing with your workouts, not getting enough sleep is hard enough. Good luck.

Pam Great job on Down & Dirty Step! Hope you are getting back into the work groove too! So glad you had fun in CA. It is nice to be able to get away even for short trips like this one!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Janie I think my sleep problems are due to menopause. I have also changed my HRT meds so I may need time to get adjusted to them.

Pam Glad that you enjoyed your vacation. How was your first day back at work?

Julie Don't worry that you ate badly. We all do that and if you have been eating clean with no cheat meals for a couple of months I wouldn't worry about it at all. Nice that you get to stay home this week. It makes it easier to do the workouts doesn't it. I am glad that Maggie is back to normal.

Well this morning I couldn't get up to do a workout . I was feeling fine when I got home from work so I did Intensity. It felt good to do a tough workout again. And our Vancouver Canucks beat Nashville so we are now on to the third round. We are just waiting to see who we will play San Jose or Detroit. They are going into game 7 on Thursday.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Cheryl

Rolly and I did an hour of walking in the wood. It was so beautiful!

My dentist experience was just awful this time around. I have a gag reflex problem and that's all I did all the way through while the technician cleaned my teeth and took ex-rays. Well, it's over.:D

Pam, Welcome home! It sounds like you had a wonderful time. Good for you. We sure did miss you. Great job on the Mindy workout.

Julie, I know how it goes when overeating. But! This time I was pretty good. (happy dance). As you would most likely say to me, it's OK to do that every now and then. Glad you see you having fun. Great job on disc 4, double cardio, LM, and Hitt 30/30. Wow! Your body is going to not notice the overeating at all.:D I'm so happy that Maggie is going to be OK. Yea!

Cheryl, Yeah, menopause. I went through that for 16 years. Not very pleasant to be sure. I'm glad you are taking care of yourself and changing whatever you have to, to make life better. Good for you. Great job on Intensity.

Janie

Julie It's nice to hear that you had a lazy Sunday, I think we needed it after all of the hard work on your house. We all eat horribly sometimes, but it's all about balance. Great job on your double cardio day! Wow!
I'm so glad to hear that Maggie is back to her normal self. It is so scary when something happens to them isn't it?! My cat swallowed a ribbon a couple of years ago and it was a really big fat ribbon. The vet told us the same thing, to give him hydrogen perioxide. Well we gave him lots of hydrogen peroxide and he just kept drinking it but it had absolutely no effect on him! Luckily a few days later he threw it up on his own, but we had JUST had to take the other cat in for surgery because of a piece of plastic that he swallowed that got lodged in his intestines so we were very worried.

Cheryl ICK on the menopause. I started getting migraines and get night sweats a lot these days. My Doctor says this could go on for years  The good thing though is that the night sweats don't wake me up, I just wake up soaking wet in the morning!
The first day back at work wasn't too bad. I was worried about the time change from west coast to east coast, but we got such a terrible nights sleep on Sunday and then had to be up so early for our 6 am flight that we were ready to crash by 9:30 eastern time on Monday which got us back on track.
Congratulations on the Canucks winning! I figured you would've been up watching that so would not have been up for a morning workout. Great job on Intensity after work though, you must've been feeling good to tackle that one!

JanieHow nice that you and Rolly got such a long walk in the woods. I'm sure it was wonderful! Sorry to hear about your terrible experience at the dentist. That sure would be hard with a gag reflex problem! At least now you don't have to go back for awhile!

I don't have any rotation scheduled right now so am just doing whatever workouts I feel like. This morning it was Tracy Staehle's High Intensity Step mix. It is a really fun one and I hadn't done it in awhile. I also am repeating week 3 of the pushup challenge so was back to day 1 today: 14/18/14/14/23. Why don't these ever get easier?! have a great Wednesday everyone!

Pam

Doubled up again today and did the Cardio Drills Only Premix from Cardio Core Circuit then Disc 5 of STS (Back and Triceps). I could only get halfway up on the pull-ups. They are so far into the program that I am exhausted by the time I get to them although I am not sure that is totally the reason I can’t do them.

Cheryl Great job on Intensity! I saw that the Canucks moved on yesterday and gave a little shout out to you! One more round to go and they are in the Stanly Cup Finals, right? That is pretty awesome! Hopefully they play Detroit. Jason said San Jose is a dirty playing team. I think since I am home all week with not much going on it is harder for me to keep to clean eating habits. I think I am not going to worry about it this week and just get back on track on Monday when I get back to a normal schedule again.

Janie Great job on your hour walk with Rolly! You are so lucky to live near beautiful woods to walk in. I guess I can take Oscar and Maggie for walks in the corn and soybean fields! I am hoping the doubling up on workouts cancels out some of the overeating! I am not too worried about it right now but I am sure I will be regretting it later! Sorry you had a terrible experience at the dentist. Fortunately I have never had a bad gag reflux but I do have a tiny mouth and those x-ray things they put in your mouth cut into my gums really bad.

Pam Great job on Tracy’s HIS! Glad to see you are back in the swing of things. Right now I am home doing things around the house while my floor gets put in and I have to tell you not having a schedule to stick to is really hard. It is messing with my eating habits and I don’t like it. I am actually looking forward to going back to work next week. Poor kitties! I can’t imagine the ribbon felt good but plastic would be even worse. Hopefully your kitty is healing from the surgery! I don’t know why our pets eat crazy things that are not good for them!

Have a wonderful Wednesday! I am off to do Clean Max now (hopefully that will keep me busy enough to stop stuffing my mouth with food!)
