Strength in Numbers

Have a little back ache and will use my M.E.L.T. method to help it. I'm back in Shelton. It was a short visit. Will be going again soon.

Pam, Great job on Flex Train. For yesterdays rest day and today's Super Cuts and Yoga inspired abs. Good news for Carl and the team qualifying for States and for running the fastest leg.

Julie, What an idiot for me to say you are having menopause at such a young age. I'm sorry and so embarrassed. The first thing I think of when someone says night sweats I think of menopause. It must be the thread count on your sheets. Great job on Saturdays for cleanmax and errands. For Sundays GG and all the wonderful exercises you did with that. Also for your rest day and then this mornings Supercuts.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Tonight was first: Since I have a sore back did Total Body Sculpting slowly and gently. Did not do any back work. Second, used the foam roller and did MELT by Sue Hitzmann. I keep forgetting about this remarkable way of exercising and my back already feels good. Then I did 40 min. on my back laying on the acupressure mat. And finally a wonderful hot bath with lots and lots of drinking water. I felt rejuvenated all over. And had a heart to heart talk with a friend today. like you guys it's wonderful isn't it to have friends to stir you the right way?

Janie

Julie Wow, great job on Sundays workout, it sounds very intense!!! I guess we were on the same wavelength yesterday with Supercuts, great job! I was feeling pretty good for the first half of the su/pu combo and was even a little ahead of Cathe and crew, but they finished their last set of pushups as I was starting mine because I had a couple moments of just laying there not wanting to go on! So funny, I put the acu-pressure mat in my cart on Amazon, but haven't actually pushed the buy button :confused: I think it's the bed of nails thing that is causing me to hesitate. Yep, Ashley was glad to be back to school and Carl is happy again (for now..... :D )

Janie I haven't heard of the M.E.L.T method, what is that? I'm glad to hear that your back is feeling good though. It sounds like you have an overall awesome day, how nice. Those heart to heart talks can be just what you need sometimes huh? You are doing a great job of being kind to your body too, good for you!!!

This morning for me was cardio leg blast. I hadn't done that one for awhile so it was good, despite all of that floor work at the end. :) Have a great Tuesday!

Pam

This morning I did Get Glutes and added on To The Max step cardio, step tabata and 30/20 HiiT. We got snow last night so the roads were iffy at best with icy, snow packed conditions. It is so cold that the salt is not melting the ice on the roads. In case anyone is counting, 57 days to Spring!

Janie Great job on listening to your body and going light on TBS and doing MELT. I’ll have to look that one up. I bet the bath felt wonderful on your back. Hope you are finding yourself still feeling rejuvenated today! You’re not an idiot for suggesting it might be menopause. I also remembered, I started having the night sweats when we got a new mattress. We switched from a spring to a latex. Wonder if that makes a difference too?

Pam Great job on CLB!! I don’t remember the floor work at the end. Maybe that means I need to do it. Whoops! I didn’t mean to leave all that info on my Get Glutes workouts in there. I am on another check-in group and we share those but you guys probably don’t care to see them! LOL! I feel good on the first half of the su/pu combo as well and then it goes downhill fast.

Have a great day!

Had yoga on the schedule today but decided to do another night like last night. Used the foam roller and did MELT. Then I did 30 min. on my back laying on the acupressure mat. And a wonderful hot bath with lots of drinking water. My doctor left me a message and from giving her my symptoms she thinks it was a muscle in my back. It was really painful at the time. Glad that's over with. Sheesh.

Pam, Here is what the book says about MELT:

The MELT Method changes lives. It's a breakthrough self-treatment system that stimulates the amazing healing power of the body's connective tissue and helps relieve aches and stiffness, improve performance, and erase the negative effects of aging. You can transform your body in as little as ten minute a day. It's good for falling asleep or staying asleep, digestive problems, midday fatigue, bloating or weight gain, visible signs of aging and cellulite. Sue Hitzmann, M.S., C.S.T., N.M.T., is a nationally recognized somatic-movement educator and manual therapist. Her decades of practice, research, and study of anatomical science and alternative therapies have culminated in the creation of MELT Method, a revolutionary approach to pain-free fitness and longevity.

My back has no pain what so ever tonight. I believe it worked. Great job on this mornings cardio leg blast.

Julie, Great job on this mornings Get Glutes and the addition of To The Max step cardio and steip tabata and 30/20 HiiT. What? All those? Really? You must of had a lot of energy in you today. Can you bring some my way? LOL Do be safe out there in the cold weather. 57 days to go before Spring. It doesn't sound that far off. O, I'm looking forward to that.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Julie Wow, great job on GG and TTM step cardio, tabata, and 30/20 Hiit!! That was quite the combo! We got snow last night too! It was just starting to spit rain a little when we got home and then turned into a mix. I think it mostly stayed a mix but they delayed school by 2 hours. It's pretty entertaining because the roads are completely dry and there is just a dusting of snow in the shaded areas. I am actually surprised that they didn't cancel school though. They usually do when they are just predicting snow. The floor work at the end of CLB is mainly just a bunch of leg lifts and then she does weighted fire hydrants at the end. My legs are definitely feeling it today. I wasn't sure if we were supposed to understand all of those details from your GG workout or not, but it sounded impressive :p Yep, I think 4 rounds of the su/pu combo would be about right.

Janie Good job on your foam rolling and MELT. You are making me want to take some warm baths too......:) The MELT method sounds really great! It sounds too good to be true, but it seems to be helping you so maybe not huh? I will have to look into it more. So glad that your pain is gone!!!

Cheryl I hope we haven't lost you!! I miss you!

This morning for me was Afterburn. It seems like I have done this one quite a bit lately, but luckily I really like it. I don't do the Double Trouble like Julie because she cuts out 3 minutes and those are all rest times!!! Plus I lose track of how much I have left to go when I do it that way. I was happy this morning though because I did all of the straddle push ups on my toes and I did all but the last two of the zombie dragging ones on my toes. Not sure if that means I am getting stronger, or was just stronger today, but I'll take it. Have a great day!

Pam

This morning I was going to do a workout despite getting an ok night’s sleep but when I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom the whole way there I had a shooting pain from my hip to my knee. It didn’t go away after a few minutes so I thought I better be smart and let it rest today. Not sure what it is. I can’t really tell if it is in my hip or my quad. Hopefully resting it today and maybe taking my tiger tail to it tonight will help.

Janie Good job on doing more MELT work and taking a long hot bath. Sounds like it has been helping. I hope you continue to feel good. I wish I could send some energy your way but I am not sure where I even got my energy from yesterday. Some days I am full of it (energy, not bs) and other days I am struggling.

Pam Great job on AB! Sometimes I remind myself of the less rest time doing the Double Trouble premix but I have such a dread the regular way. That is so awesome about the pushups! I bet you are feeling pumped the rest of the day. It does kind of crack me up to see some states shut down when there is a dusting of snow. I know they are not used to it but it still makes me laugh a little.

Have a great day!

Julie Oh no, that pain doesn't sound good at all. You were very smart not to push it and do a workout. I sure hope that it was a passing thing and that it's feeling better now. It's both amusing and somewhat annoying the things that they cancel school for here. Two years ago our schools were closed for 3 days for snow that didn't even stick to the roads when it first came down. Even the kids couldn't believe it. Then people worry why our school systems are ranked so low :confused:

Last night I came home and did the stability ball abs bonus from Butts and Guts. I was thinking Cathe hadn't put much core work in the rotation this week so I added that. Then I looked at the calendar and saw today was 4DS kickbox with all of those split leg crunches. Ugh. I got through them though and that workout just flies by for me. It was a good one for today because I really didn't feel like getting up and working out. I also keep thinking it should be Friday...slow week. Oh well, almost! Have a great Thursday!

Pam

This morning my hip/leg was feeling much better. I wonder if I pinched a nerve or something (if that is even possible to do in your hip/leg). Anyway, I did Get Glutes and added on additional back work using my weight machine. It was a chilly, chilly morning at -5 degrees. I have no idea what the wind chill was. I don’t think I want to know!

Pam Great job on getting in the sb abs! You are so good about doing that. I don’t even want to think about things like that when I get home from work. Great job on 4DS Kickbox! Ugh is right on those split leg crunches. I am not a fan of those. I hate when I think it is a different day. Well good news is that it was Thursday when you were thinking it was Wednesday so you were only a day away.

Have a great day!

Sorry I have been MIA for so long now. When I went back to work the beginning of January I didn't seem to have time in the evenings to post after getting my workout in, having dinner and cleaning up. The time just seemed to disappear. Then on that first weekend I ended up getting a cold and was trying to fight it off. Of course I lost and now I have bronchitis that has taken a lot of my energy. I was on the couch both Saturday and Sunday and then was off sick Monday and Tuesday and went into work for a few hours yesterday to get some things cleaned up. I was advised that I should go to the doctor because my co-workers said that it was probably more than a cold and sure enough they were right. So now I am on antibiotics and was told by the doctor to stay home for the rest of the week. So here I am at home with no energy to workout and it is so nice outside and I can't go out and enjoy it as I have been told to stay home and rest though I have no energy anyway but it would be better if it was raining out instead of sunshine. You guys are all doing so well I wish I could say the same for me. I hope that I stop all this coughing soon because it is getting really annoying and it can be hard to sleep . Keep up the good work I hope that I can get back into working out soon and posting on a regular basis, I miss it.

Cheryl

Tonight was Yoga Foundation. Sorry I forgot to post yesterday.

I'm making some water kefir and have to get back to it. Will talk more tomorrow.

Caught up with the posts. So glad Cheryl to see you are still with us.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Julie So glad to hear that you hip/leg were feeling better yesterday! Great job on GG and back work! Man, what is up with this cold? Our wind chill today was and our high today is only supposed to be 26. The whole next week is supposed to be really cold too, I don't think we ever get out of the 40's BRrrrrrrrrr, I'm joining you in your countdown to spring! The nice thing about doing abs after work is that it is really quick so as long as I remember I really like doing it that way because it's usually only 10-15 minutes. I think I said that backwards, on Wednesday I was thinking it was Thursday......

Cheryl Well it's good to hear from you but sorry to hear that you have been sick :( I hope that those antibiotics knock that out of you! What a bummer to be missing out on the nice weather. Isn't that just the way it seems to go?!:mad: Just remember though, every time you cough you are working your abs! ;)

Janie Great job on YF. No worries on forgetting to post, it happens to all of us sometimes.

This morning was GS chest and triceps for me. I was stronger on my chest work this week. I did a lot more of the pushups on my toes and wasn't crying through the bench presses like I usually am. My triceps were a different story though  I don't think I was any weaker, but not any stronger either. My muscles are singing to me now......Happy Friday!!

Pam

This morning I did a bodyweight and bands Get Glutes workout then added on 40/20 HiiT. So happy it is Friday.

Cheryl Oh I am so sorry you have bronchitis. Not fun at all. Resting is the best but I know it is hard. Is there anything the doctor can give you to help you sleep? I do hope you get better soon. What Pam said is true. I had severe ab DOMS when I had my cold over Christmas/New Years.

Janie Great job on YF! Water kefir sounds interesting. I have seen kefir in stores but haven’t ever had it.

Pam Great job on GS C&T! Awesome job on getting more toe pushups. That segment is hard and then to follow it up with bench presses is nuts! I just found Monday of next week our high is supposed to -1! I need to move closer to the equator I think.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Janie Great work on Yoga Foundation. I tried kefir once and didn't like it. Is water kefir different?

Pam Both you and Julie should come to Vancouver. The weather here is Spring like right now. We have been getting up to 40 - 50 degrees and lots of sun once the fog burns off. LOL I have been working my abs then a lot in the past two weeks :D. Good work on GS chest and triceps. Nice that you are getting stronger in your chest. I find that this workout does in my triceps but good. I have DOMS for several days after I do this one.

Julie Good work on your Get Glutes bodyweight and bands workout and 40/20 Hiit. You don't always need weights to get a good workout in. I have been taking some cough medicine before bed and that seems to help me sleep. I don't have ab DOMS but I know I have been working them.

Today I am feeling much better than in the previous two weeks. The antibiotics seem to be kicking in. I am getting a bit stir crazy though. This morning I did segment 1 of stretch max. Sitting around for days on end have made me stiff. Then since I was feeling a lot better I got some housework done too. Maybe I might be able to do a workout tomorrow if I am still feeling like this.

Happy Friday everyone.

Cheryl

Julie Great job on GG and 40/20. I was really ready for Friday too! Oh yea, the bench presses after all of those pushup in GS kill me! And for some reason I'm weaker on bench presses than I am flies, even though it's supposed to be the other way around... I think it's because of more shoulder involvement with the presses. -1, that's not right!

Thumper Well I would love to come to Vancouver! Not just for the spring like weather, but everything I hear about Vancouver is good. All of these GS workouts do in all of my muscles. They are always talking to me for awhile when I'm done, but you are right, they really get the triceps good. The first week of this rotation after that one I couldn't stand for my triceps to even be touched lightly! I'm glad to hear you are starting to feel better, antibiotics are miracle drugs, aren't they?! Great job doing stretch max, I bet you really needed it. I think I would be getting stir crazy too. I hope you are able to get outside and enjoy it while it's still nice.

Janie I don't know if I'm getting stronger, or was just having a strong day.....it's always hard to tell! How are your back and foot, still doing well??? I hope so!

This morning for me was GS Back, shoulders and biceps. Then I added on no equipment abs and 8 pikes at the end just for the heck of it :confused: DH is off to Florida until Thursday for a conference. I was a little jealous because it's a lot warmer there. it's still in the 30s at night even there, but in the 60s during the day. I'm off to run some errands. Have a great Saturday.

Pam

Janie Great job on TF, it never really seems like a workout if it is one that you love.

Pam Antibiotics are a miracle drug. It doesn't take long before you are feeling good again. Great job on GS back, shoulders and biceps and the no equipment abs and your 8 pikes at the end. Lucky DH to get to go to Florida and he didn't take you along????

Today I finally got outside YEAH!!!! It felt so good to get fresh air and sunshine again. This morning I was also up for a workout so I did Rockout Knockout. It felt soooo good to move again.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Cheryl

I did the cardio in the Wedding Video. Loved it.

Pam, Great job on GS Back, shoulders and biceps. And the addition of no equipment abs and 8 PIKES! YIKES! Good for you.

Cheryl, Great job being in the wonderful sunshine and doing Rockout knockout.

Take care,

Janie+

Janie Great job on the Wedding Video. That is one I need to pull out again. It is a fun one.

So this morning when I woke up my eyes were swollen and my eyelids were red and itchy. I thought oh great now what, I am having a reaction to the antibiotics? So I decided to go to the hospital to get checked out. I walked there because it is only across the street and of course because it was a bit icy out I slipped and fell . I thought oh boy it is going to be one of those days. So the doctor saw me and said that I should stop the antibiotics and that I shouldn't have been prescribed them anyway. He said that it could also be a viral infection too. So now I am not sure if I am going into work or not tomorrow. I guess I will have to see how I am doing. 2014 sure hasn't gotten off to a healthy start for me.

I hope everyone else had a great weekend.

Cheryl
