Strength in Numbers

Julie Great job on Get Glutes, it sounds like an interesting program. Is there upper body work included in the strength workouts too, or is it strictly focused on the lower end? Great job on Flextrain, the triceps section killed me too! Yep, still fighting with the jet lag. I was wide awake at 3:30 this morning but was able to go back to sleep for awhile. I'm hoping that by tonight I will sleep all night. I love Rome, I have been there 3-4 times but it is always a nice place to visit. I am teaching with the guy from Germany who I really enjoy traveling with and we are staying at a hotel right by the Collesium (sp?) which will be nice. It's such a pretty city and the food and wine are pretty amazing! I went to Greece once and my husband came over and we did some touring around, but it was the wrong time of year, too cold. I would still like to go back there and visit the Greek Islands in the summer.....

Cheryl Yes, the traveling has been kind've crazy lately. I think it will die down now until the end of the year, but will likely pick up again in January because we are developing a new class. They are talking about doing one in Paris so I am already vying for that one. Of course January isn't the best time of year to be in Paris, and I probably won't get that trip since I got the Rome one. It won't stop me from trying though
Great job on your Bosu workout. I keep forgetting about mine, I need to pull that thing out again!

JanieGood for you for getting your flu shot and congratulations on getting the new dvds! I went and took a look at the October rotation after you mentioned it and it looks really good. I was happy to see that she mixed things up and didn't focus totally on the new workouts. I think I may start that one next week and just play with checking out some of the new stuff the rest of this week. It sounds like Rockout Knockout is another winner! I am not a big kickbox fan, but I will give it a chance!

This morning was X10 the 62 premix with step, hi/lo, low and cardio circuit. Whew! Julie, you weren't kidding when you said these segments are no joke. Halfway through the 2nd segment I was questioning my judgement in choosing to do 4 segments, but I made it. I was soaked in sweat and as red as a beet when I finished! This one is just go go go! Loved it! Have a great day!

Pam

This morning I did my second Get Glutes workout with additional back work. Last night I had to mow the lawn after work. Not a big deal but as I was coming around the shed, I saw the biggest most disgusting spider ever on the side of the shed. DH was outside with me and saved me by killing it. I swear it looked like no spider I have ever seen around here before but like something from a National Geographic magazine. The rest of the night, I would shudder just at the thought of it.

Cheryl Great job on your BOSU workout. I keep thinking about getting one of those sometime because I definitely need help in the balance department. I would say the Get Glutes workouts are probably similar in intensity as Total Body Trisets. I like them because they are pretty time efficient so I can tack on additional back work or cardio. They also make my glutes cry which I am a glutton for punishment in that area. Ozzie probably needs to lose about 5-8 pounds which for a dog is quite a bit. He is young though so I think he will not have any troubles losing it.

Janie Great job on Rockout Knockout! I have that one on tap for Thursday so I am excited about it. I will have to remember to dig out my 1 pound gloves for this one. I think you will like FlexTrain. It is a very time efficient no –nonsense workout.

Pam Get Glutes includes some upper body, usually one push and one pull per workout. I like it because it is mostly compound work so no isolation moves. I had been getting bored spending an hour working shoulders, biceps, and triceps in isolation moves. Those muscles get worked pretty decently in compound work and my workouts go by so much faster. Plus Cathe has been adding isolation work for those muscles in with some of the metabolic workouts lately. Great job on X10! I think Cathe really intended those to be stand alones with how intense they are. I did them all but split them into 2 days. I liked the Low Impact and Fat Burning Circuits the best with Cardio Blast and Hi/lo after that. Not sure I like the step one much.

Have a great day!

Today on the October Rotation is X Train Bi/Tri. Love doing weight lifting. Also walked to the beach and back, it took 20 min. It was really windy and decided to turn back. Didn't want sand in our eyes.

Pam, Great job on this mornings X10 the 62 prem. with step, hi/low and cardio circuit. Whew is right! Proud of you getting through the 4 segments. Don't you love the Beet flush and sweat?

Julie, Great job on the mornings 2nd Get Glutes workout with add on back work. I too am that way with spiders. I don't know why but shudder I do. Seems I see new species of them every year and every year they are BIGGER.

Take care,

Janie

Julie Great job on Get Glutes and back work. Oh man, your close encounter with the spider sounds creepy. I don't know what it is about those things, but I just can't stand them either! Hooray for your hero DH! I like the compound work better than isolation moves too, GG sounds like it's a really good program! It was a good idea splitting X10 into 2 days. This one is a great option for add ons with shorter weight workouts. I still need to check out the fat burning circuits, but I liked all of the other ones.

Janie Great job oon XTrain bis/tris and your windy walk. I don't blame you for not wanting to be on the beach with all of the blowing sand. Yuck! Yep, we are crazy huh? Loving being a sweaty mess and beet red, there must be something wrong with us

Yesterday I was soooo tired! There was a mix and mingle at work starting at 3:00 to have snacks and drinks so I decided to skip it and went home instead. I was crashed by 8:00! I was awake several times during the night but didn't get up until my alarm went off at 5:30, so hoping I'm caught up now. Of course DH just took the red-eye home from LA this morning and is working all day, so tonight it will be his turn! This morning I did Lean Legs and Abs with the Barre bonus. I thought the intensity level on this one was lower than most of Cathe's leg workouts, but I was ok with that as I was ready for something lighter after X10 yesterday. The only problem I had with any of the moves was with the outer thigh work with the firewalker loop. Since I broke my light firewalker loop I had to do them with the hard one and I couldn't finish with the band on. I need to get a new set ordered before I do that again! Have a good day ladies!

Pam

Last night, DH and I took the dogs for a walk around the block. Then DH took Maggie inside since she can’t go far and I took Ozzie around the block again but this time we ran intervals along the way. I am not a runner by any means so this was a big deal for me to run about 50 feet! I figure if interval training is supposed to be good for humans to burn fat, same applies to dogs too, right? This morning I did Pedal Power. It was really good. I don’t normally pay attention to the music and can take it or leave it but some of the songs really had me getting into them.

Janie Great job on XTrain Bis/Tris! Plus your beach walk! I understand about not wanting to walk when it is windy and get sand in your eyes. We don’t have sand here but during the Fall harvest time we have what the farmers call “red dog”. It is part of the husk of the corn grown around here. It gets everywhere and when it is windy, will definitely get in your eyes, ears, nose. Just yuck!

Pam Great job on LLA! Hopefully you are all caught up on your sleep. You must have needed it if you were in bed from 8-5:30. I think both LLA and Great Glutes are lower in intensity than what Cathe has put out in the past. Not necessarily a bad thing. I did the outer thigh work with the green band and cried when Cathe added on the last round where you alternate knee straight ahead with knee up to ceiling.

Have a great day!

Janie Good job on Rockout Knockout. Nice that you could feel it in your abs.

Pam Oooh I hope you get to go to Paris. Shopping, shopping and more shopping ;). I will have my fingers crossed for you that you get it. Good work on X10 62 premix with the step. Yikes it sounds like a hard one.

Julie Good work on your get glutes and back workout. Yuck I hate spiders. It must of really freaked you out if you thought about it all night. Ozzie probably won't take long to lose the weight. Oh to be young again and have the pounds just melt off.

Janie Good work on XTrain Bis and tris and your walk on the beach.

Pam I can relate to being soooo tired I was like that last night too. Good job on Lean Legs and Abs + Barre bonus.

Julie I am sure interval work is good for dogs too. Did Ozzie enjoy it?Good job on Pedal Power this morning.

So yesterday I was like Pam soooo tired so I missed my workout. All I wanted to do is veg out on the couch. After work we went to get groceries so I didn't get a workout in. However guess what was in the mail........no not the DVDs but the slip to pick them up at the post office. Of course I got dinged duty of $19.87 . I will get them after work tomorrow and try one of them out.

Cheryl

It was good enough weather for Joey and I to take a 35 min. + bike ride. Tonight I did XTrain Cardio Leg Blast prem. 3, 1-6 rounds. A sweaty mess and beet red, just the way I like it. LOL

Pam, Can't blame you for going home instead of going to a work mingle. Especially when tired. Hope you caught up on resting. Great job on this mornings Lean Legs and Abs with the Barre bonus. Oh yeah, I hear ya about the firewalker loop. Did a similar one in my workout tonight. If you have a color band the same color as the firewalker loop, you could just tie it around your legs and use it that way. It works.

Julie, The "red dog" in the Fall sounds very irritating. Like sand in my part of the country. Great job taking the dogs out for a walk. And for you taking it one step further and doing running intervals. I do think intervals are good for doggies. Probably more so. Also great job on this mornings Pedal Power.

Cheryl, Oh no! Isn't $19.87 steep for duty? Wow, I'd be mad too. Enjoy them. I only did the Rockout Knockout so far, and loved it.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Julie Wow, great job on your running intervals! I agree that interval training makes sense for dogs too. Great job on pedal power yesterday morning. I really love it when there is great music in a workout and find it can be super motivating, but I'm not one of those people that needs to have really good music. It seems when the music isn't good I don't even notice it....I do think I am caught up on sleep now. I had a normal sleep last night so I was happy. I don't have Cathe's bands so I'm not sure how my tough firewalker band compares to her green one, but I do know it's really hard! Great job of getting through the outer though work with the green band despite crying! I wasn't that tough!

Cheryl Yes, I am hoping that I get to go to Paris too, I will have to wait and see. Of course I want to go more for the bakeries and the wine and food than the shopping. Oh yes, X10 is no joke, no matter which mix you do! Oh hooray! I'm happy that your new dvds have arrived. What a bummer that you have to pay duty though :mad:It must be frustrating for it to be so inconsistent like that!

Janie Great job on your bike ride and XTrain CLB! Congrats on your sweat fest and beet red face :D Sure signs of a great workout! Oh yes, I do believe I am all caught up on my sleep now! That is a good suggestion about using a band instead of the firewalker loop. In fact, that is how Cathe used to do it, I hadn't even thought about that  Thanks!

This morning I did Party Rockin Step #2. I have mixed feelings on it so far. For the most part it's fairly low intensity and the combos aren't too hard to figure out. There are a couple parts where the intensity gets up there. I was thinking that I really liked it and then we got to a combo that I wasn't really crazy about. I do like the other 5 combos a lot though so I shouldn't be knocking the whole workout down due to one combo.... I'm thinking between the 2 step workouts I like number 1 better, but I will need to do them both a couple more times to give them a fair shake. Have a great day everyone. It's virtual Friday for me! I'm taking tomorrow off because the DHs family will be in town for a wedding on Saturday and I am having 22 people for dinner tomorrow night  Hopefully I'll be able to get a workout in in the morning though!

Pam

This morning I did Rockout Knockout. It was fun. I am not sure whether I can say I am crazy about it. I was a little tired this morning and not really feeling like working out but I did it. It is definitely one I will do again. I was just having trouble with motivation today.

Cheryl That is so not fair to have to pay almost $20 for your DVDs. Ozzie loves running but he runs faster than me and I have to try to slow him down for fear of being dragged.

Janie Great job on your bike ride + CLB premix! Ozzie seems to like the running part. When I stopped running, Ozzie would look up at me like why did you stop?

Pam Great job on PRS2! I feel I need to do the workouts at least twice before I give them a full review. I’m not sure when I will get to doing them since right now I am enjoying my Get Glutes workouts and some of the tried and true goodies from Cathe. Good luck with your dinner party!

Have a great day!

Janie Nice that you could get out with Joey for a bike ride. Good job on XTrain Cardio Leg Blast Premix 3. Actually mine is one of the cheapest from what I have read on posts from people in Canada who have received them so far.

Pam Good work on Party Rockin Step #2. I did this one tonight and I really liked it. Since this is the first one I have done I can't compare it to #1 yet. I hope you can get your workout in tomorrow morning. Wow 22 people for dinner is a lot of work. I hope you can enjoy your day off too.

Julie Good job on Rockout Knockout. Try doing it when you have more energy and see if you feel differently about it. I guess having four legs helps with the speed doesn't it :D. At least Ozzie is enjoying it.

Janie I hope you feel better tomorrow.

So after work I went and picked up my DVDs from the post office. It hurt to fork over the money for duty and taxes. So I did Party Rocking Step #2. I had fun and the moves were fairly easy to learn. I think I go through all the DVDs first and then I thought I would do October's rotation.

Have a great day everyone.

Cheryl

This morning I did Get Glutes workout 3 and added on Hiit 30/30. I was breathing fire towards the end I was so hot. Had to take mini breaks and pause the DVD to rest longer than the 30 seconds. So glad it is Friday. I am ready for the weekend. I’ll be going to my parent’s this weekend for my dad’s birthday.

Janie Oh dear, I hope you feel better.

Cheryl Great job on PRS2! So exciting to have your DVDs. I guess that is good that your taxes and duty were less than what others were paying. Last time wasn’t it more? That is exactly what I told Ozzie why he needed to slow down. It’s not fair that he has twice the number of legs as me.

Pam Enjoy your dinner party!

Have a great day!

Julie Great job on Rockout Knockout especially when you weren't feeling motivated. I will probably try that one this week. My expectations aren't that high thought since I am not a kick box fan in general.l I have been missing some of the older Cathe stuff too and had been hoping to get Drill Max in this morning, but unfortunately it was not meant to be today!

Janie Sorry to hear you were feeing quesy, I hope that your are feeling better now!

Cheryl I'm glad that you got your workouts but it sure is stinky having to pay duty to get them! Great job on PRS #2 Unfortunately I was not able to get my workout in this morning, maybe tomorrow.....

Julie Great job on GG and 30/30 you fire breathing dragon! Happy Birthday to your dad!

So as I said, my workout was not meant to be this morning. Almost every time DHs family is planning to come to town some of them change their plans at the last minute and decide to come early. So last night we ended up with 6 extra overnight guests which meant that my workout room was occupied this morning. Oh well, it also meant that I had a lot of help with dinner prep today. Now we are all relaxing a bit before the rest of the crew shows up for the evening. Have a great weekend everyone!

Pam

Feeling much better today. Most likely the meal I ate. It was in a box, what can I say. YUCK! Trying to save time, but it is not worth it. Rolly and I walked the beach for about 2 hours and then tonight did Party Rockin Step prem. #1. I viewed #2 and should have stayed with that one, but for some reason I did #1. OMG! Sweat fest and beet red afterword.
And much much harder in the choreography. Loved it although I was all over the board tripping but didn't fall. Glad of that. Will be going to my niece baby shower. Lots of family member including my daughter will be there. Will spend the night with her and come back on Sun. See you all then.

Cheryl, I did that one using the prem. #2. I had a hard time. You are better than me that's for sure. Good for you! Enjoy the new DVD's.

Julie, Great job on this mornings Get Glutes #3 and the addition of HiiT 30/30, my favorite. Enjoy being with family for your dad's birthday.

Pam, Enjoy the family and don't worry it all will work out.

Take care,

Janie

Janie So glad to hear that you are feeling better. Great job on your nice long beach walk and PRS! The choreography in that one is definitely tricky, but good for you sticking it out and getting in a great workout!

We had a great time with everyone here last night. It's a really big, fun, loving family so it was a lot of fun. This morning we had pedicure appts at 9:00 and I slept in a little later than planned, so I did Afterburn instead of Drill Max. I was just happy to get in a great workout! Now we are just chilling a little bit before we need to start getting ready for the wedding. I just might have to take a little nap :D Happy Saturday everyone!

Pam

Julie Good work on your Get Glutes workout and Hiit 30/30. Wow breathing fire  I hope you have recovered. Enjoy your Dad's birthday. I can't remember what I paid last time but what is really annoying.....my friend who ordered the same DVDs and lives about 10 minutes from me didn't have to pay anything.

Pam Enjoy the day. There will be days where you can't get that workout in. Enjoy the wedding.

Janie I am glad that you are feeling better. Anything in a box is a YUCK. Good job on your walk on the beach with Rolly and Rockin Step premix #1. I haven't done that one yet. Enjoy the baby shower.

So as I told Julie my friend who ordered the same DVDs and lives about 10 minutes from me didn't have to pay any duty . It's just nor fair. So yesterday I was really tired when I got home from work but I did preview a couple of the workouts. This morning it was flex train Yowza that was some workout. This is out Thanksgiving weekend so it will be nice to get an extra day off.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Cheryl

Cheryl That is so nuts how the duty is random. It should be very clear cut whether you need to pay or not and how much it will be. That must be so annoying! Great job on Flextrain, that is a good one too. Happy Thanksgiving, I hope you are enjoying your long weekend!

This morning I started Cathe's October rotation with Rockout Knockout. I liked it fine for a kickbox workout, but definitely not one I'll just pick up. The good thing though is that it's another one to add to the travel list since there isn't any equipment needed! The wedding Saturday was beautiful and really a lot of fun. We danced all night. Yesterday I wasn't too tired but today I am draggggggging! I already can't wait to go home and go to sleep! Have a great Monday!

Pam

Sunday I did my Get Glutes workout and added on additional upper body work since it is skimpy on it. I did end up breaking my heavy Cathe long band. It snapped in half twice! So during the rest of my lazy day Sunday that went by way too fast I ordered some new bands from Amazon. I ended up getting a different brand hoping they will last longer. This morning I did Afterburn Double Trouble premix.

Pam Sounds like you had a great time with DH’s family and at the wedding. Great job on Afterburn! Great job on RK! You are right that this one is a good one for travel since there is no equipment. I hope you get a good night’s sleep tonight.

Janie Great job on your walk with Rolly for TWO HOURS! Wow! Plus PRS! I always feel like I am tripping all over the board when I do a new Cathe. Hope you had a great time at the baby shower.

Cheryl That isn’t fair that you have to pay and others don’t especially when it is the same delivery basically. I don’t know much about Canada but would it even do good to make a complaint? Good job on FlexTrain. That one is not what I expected. It is a good workout but I expected it to be more like Supercuts which I don’t think it is. Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your extra day off!

Have a great day!

Today Rolly and I walked fast on the beach for an hour and a half, and just now did Low Impact Hiit prem. 10 Floor and Step cardio, 39 min. From XTrain series.

Pam, I new you would have a fun time with family. Aw lucky you for the pedicure and Afterburn workout. How was the wedding? I saw some photos on FB, looks beautiful.

Cheryl, No, it's not fair you having to pay duty and your neighbor doesn't. Great job on this mornings Flex Train. Happy Thanksgiving!

Julie, Great job on Sundays Get Glutes and the addition of upper body. One of these days soon I'll expect my band to break too. It's getting old. Also great job on this mornings Afterburn Double Trouble prem.

Take care,

Janie

Julie Great job on GG Nd upper body work on Sunday and A? double Trouble on Monday! My fire walker loops we're from somewhere other than Cathe because people were complaining about how quickly hers broke. I was considering getting hers this time though because it always bugs me that they go by color and mine are a different color so I can't judge the strength that .......I did get a good sleep last night, thanks!

Janie great job on your fast beach walk acne LI Hiit! You have been hitting it hard lately! The wedding was beautiful and the reception was really fun. They aired a really cute couple, I'm really happy for them!

This morning for me was XTrain bis and tris. Janie, I think you are a week ahead of me in this rotation, so it's nice getting a preview from you of what is coming :) I hadn't done that one in awhile and forgot how much I like it. I love that there is only one set of each exercise and the switching from a bicep to a triceps exercise each round. Those crazy dips at the end are just killers!

Pam
