Strength in Numbers

Today I started my own rotation of sorts. Since I will be starting STS May 2, I need to do the 1RM tests. So, I decided that every day for the next 3 weeks, I will be doing 30-40 minutes of cardio followed by 5-6 1RM tests. This morning, I did the Step Only (no blasts) Premix from Imax 3. It was fun and I think I can say that is the first time I have ever done an Imax and didn’t feel pooped out afterwards! After that, I did 5 1RM tests. I haven’t decided whether I am going to try to work some pull-ups and push ups in during this time or not. I may try to do a few sets of each a couple days a week just so I don’t lose any strength I gained.

Cheryl Is it still really rainy in your area? Maybe that is making you so tired. It could also be the 3 days in a row. When I first switched to morning workouts, I used to take Wednesday as my day off. It was kind of nice to get up early 2 days, sleep in a day, and then have only 2 more early days before the weekend. Good job for going to yoga even though you were tired.

Janie So glad you are back and that you had a great time with your family. It sounds like you are one spoiled chica!!! But is there really any other way to spend your birthday than with family and being spoiled! You have a very generous family. I can’t wait to hear what you came up with for working out with Joey!

Pam {{{HUGS}}} to you and your family. I can’t imagine the turmoil you and your DH are feeling right now. It is good to know that it your FIL is aware of the decision he is making and is at peace with it. Having a chance to say goodbye will also hopefully help. So many people do not get that chance to say goodbye. I am glad to see you got a step workout in with your SIL. I bet that was a great stress relief during this time. The April rotation does look good.

Have a good Monday!

Joey and I did did TBS, 5 min. ab work from Ab Hits, and a stability ball stretch from her stretch DVD. Weather is rainy, but I'm home and will hit the hot tub very soon. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. LOL

Pam, I can't wait for my Kindle too, it should be here today or tomorrow. I'll let you know about it once I figure it out. Yippee!
Hope you had a great birthday as well. I know you are under a lot of stress with your FIL and lots of (((((hugs and prayers))))), for you and your family. He (FIL) is such a brave soul. We are here for you, but you know that.
Great job on the fun step class with your SIL and this mornings Step and Intervals from BM. I don't have a rotation, but I'll be getting back to it heavily since I didn't much exercise last week.:(

Julie, Oh, I love your plan for this month of exercise and getting ready to do STS Series in May.
Great job on The Step Only Premix from IMAX, and 5 1RM tests.
Working Out With Joey; We did TBS. LOL:D What can I say, he loves that one. Since I didn't exercise very much last week, I'll start with that and add on to it starting Wed. The weather is awful, so I'll do cardio later today on the trampoline or treadmill for 45 min. That should do it for the day.

Take care everyone, and enjoy the rest of the day.

Janie

Janie You sure did get spoiled for your birthday. I would like to get a kindle or something like it too. So many people have them now or an Ipad. Enjoy your workout with Joey.

Pam {{{{HUGS}}}} to you and your family. It is so hard to go through something like this but at least you had a chance to say good bye. You know we are here for you. Sounds like the step class with your SIL was just the thing that you needed. I just started Cathe's April rotation today. It looks like it will be fun.

Julie I never really did the 1RM tests, just kinda guessed  But you are going about it the right way in making sure you are using the proper weights. Rainy is not the word for it, torrential rain is more like it. I got just drenched trying to get to and from work today. That is probably what is making me tired. One person I ride the bus home with told me that the rain was making him tired. I struggled to try to workout this morning so I did it tonight.

Tonight I did Low Impact Circut which I couldn't have done this morning with the length of it so doing it tonight did work out better.

Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Cheryl

Julie Your April plan sounds like a good one. I may end up starting STS with you as well. I keep thinking I need to do another STS rotation, but I don't want to get started up right now since my workouts are a little sporadic at the moment. We are going to California on May 5 for a long weekend to celebrate our 10 year anniversary though, so maybe I'll wait until we get back to start. I also need to start back into the push up challenge and must say that I am NOT looking forward to that!
Thanks for the thoughts and the hugs! I really do think the time that everyone had last week will make a big difference in the long run and really has already.

janie TBS, what a surprise! :D great job on that, the abs and the stretch! We are having rainly weather today too, it made for a long drive into work with lots of accidents along the way, yuck! A soak in the hot tub sounds heavenly, I hope you got to do that!
I officially postponed my birthday and we will celebrate it when we are more in a mood for celebrating. You guys are the best, I feel bad for unloading on you all the time, but it sure is nice having all of the thoughts, prayers and support. You're right though, my FIL is a brave soul, he has been amazing.

Cheryl Thanks for your hugs and support! You guys (gals!) are great!
I put the April rotation in my calendar starting next Monday and will just pick some of my favorites to do between now and then. I'm trying to stick with the same type workouts that were in the March rotation for each day since I never really finished that rotation, but i wasn't crazy about some of the workouts in the last week so I'm doing ones that I like better. Great job on LIC. That is a hard one to do in the morning because it is so long.

Did everyone see that Cathe is filming a new series?! That was some great news for a Monday morning! From the little teasers it sounds like it will be very different from what she has typically done. She is even doing a spin DVD! This morning I did High Step Training for my circuit workout. I was so happy because I thought I had done all of the pushups on my toes, but I forgot that she ends it with the crossover pushups. I was just spent by then so I only got the first 4 of those on my toes. Darn! Maybe one of these days!
Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Pam

This morning I did Cardio Core Circuit-Express Circuit Premix. Then I did 6 1RM tests. Finally, I did 100 Push Ups ... but not all at once. :) I did 4 sets: 40, 25, 25, & 10. I only did that last set of 10 so I could say I did 100!

I am sure everyone saw the news but I am so excited about the upcoming series. For some reason, I just don’t think I have enough Cathe workouts!! :p The new series is going to include yoga and spin. I don’t have a spin bike but I still plan on getting that one and buying a bike later. Getting a bike has always been on my wish list so it just might get moved up a few months!! I am so excited and I have no one but you guys to share my excitement with. I was going to tell DH last night but he got home late and then I imagined him getting glassy eyed while I talked at warp speeds about the new workouts. Kind of like how I get when he talks about his job!

Janie Great job on TBS, abs, & stretching with Joey! I bet you guys are both so happy to be working out together again! That’s just too funny that Joey is stuck on TBS. But at least it gets him moving and you to spending time together.

Cheryl Great job on doing LIC! That one is so much fun and seems to fly by even though it is quite lengthy. Yuck on all the rain! Hopefully, the sun will start shining for you!

Pam Great job on HSTA! Crossover pushups are tough especially after that workout! I think starting STS after your CA trip sounds great. I haven’t completely decided on whether I am doing the 3 month or 6 month rotation. I was leaning towards the 6 month because I had been reading on the forums that the 6 month is a little better but now that there is a new series coming out, I may only do the 3 month so I can do some of the new workouts in the fall. I also haven’t completely made up my mind on whether to do the Squat Rack or Plyo Legs for Meso 3 but I figure I can make that decision later.

Have a good Tuesday!

Pam April looks like a good rotation. I have been having problems sticking to a rotation for any length of time. I am looking forward to the new series. Now that I am getting older low impact is something I want to do more over the high impact. I still do like the high impact but sometimes my body has an issue with it . Good job on High Step Training. I know what you mean with the push ups I can't always get them all in on my toes or my knees .

Julie It doesn't matter that you didn't do all 100 push ups in one go. You did really well with your sets. I am looking forward to the new workouts but I wouldn't get the spin one since I don't have a bike and no room to put one. Husbands just don't understand our excitment do they. Mine gives me the glazed look too.

The rain is really getting me down. I was going to do HiiT pyramid but by the time I got home from work I was exhausted. They had the heat blasting at work too so that really tired me out and I also didn't get a lunch break so I will try again tomorrow :(.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Cheryl

Today was cleanmax day. So glad I did it. Also I went on the treadmill for 30 min.

Pam
, I'm glad you postponed your birthday until a much better time comes along. You deserve to have a very happy birthday. We are here for you every time. That's what this is all about.:D
Can't wait for the new series. I'm ready for May 1st to preorder. OMG, she is doing a spin DVD? Wow!
Great job on on HST and push ups on toes. You are doing so good.:)
Julie, Great job on your cardio express, and the 1RM tests. Congratulations on the 100 push ups. Oh MY! You never quit like I did, and I'm so very proud of you for consistency and making it to your goal!
I think I will get a spin bike too. I'm looking so forward to these workouts.:D
Joey and I love getting our workouts in together. So glad it's almost back to normal. Still have a little unpacking to do. Yes, he is stuck on TBS, and sometimes I just have to be patient and realize he is doing really well for him. I just have to do more after wards is all.

Cheryl, I know what you are talking about when it comes to rain.:( Tomorrow is another day. You'll feel in a better mood then. Get some sleep, it can be exhausting from that heat at work.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Julie Great job on CCC Circuit express and your 1 RM test AND your 100 push ups! Wow, great job!!
I was laughing when you were talking about your DHs glazed look about your excitement over the workouts! They just don't understand, do they?! Mine can't believe that I get excited about workouts in the first place, let alone another new one (or 10!) I am really excited about the spin workout. I do have a spin bike but haven't used it much lately, so this will definitely give me the motivation to use it. :D
I haven't really given the STS rotation much thought yet, but depending on when the new workouts come I know I won't be able to wait to try them. Of course you can always work them in on cardio days (the cardio ones at least!)

Cheryl I was excited to see Circuit Blast in the April rotation. I think I've only done that workout once since I got them and I can't even remember what it's like  I know what you mean about lo impact. I really love high impact and always have, but my body is starting to not like it so much!
I sure hope your weather gets better soon. We had some crazy weather Monday night with high winds and thunder storms. The commute yesterday was awful because there were so many accidents because of the rain but it is supposed to be really nice for the next several days. The azaleas and dog woods are in bloom here now so it is just gorgeous to drive around and see all of the color!

Janie Great job on clean max! It always feels so good to get that done, doesn't it. And 30 minutes on the treadmill too, good for you! I am very excited about the spin DVD in the new series and I will be placing my pre-order on May 1st!! Did you see that they have already started filming too! :D

last night we got the call that my FIL passed away :( As soon as the phone rang we knew since no one calls us at 11:45 pm. DH is doing amazingly well though, the time he had with him last week made al the difference. I'm sure the next few days will not be easy, but as my FIL kept saying last week, we'll get through this. So I got up and did Intensity this morning to work off some steam. That felt good. I'm not sure what our travel plans are yet, but I suspect I will be gone for a few days. Have a good Wednesday.

Pam

So I am really enjoying my “rotation” of 30-40 min. of cardio and 5-6 1RM tests. However, I have incredible DOMS in my hamstrings and chest! I hope that means I am doing the tests right. Last night I decided to do a Stretch Max segment and then I had to use the foam roller on my hamstrings (ouch! and yet aah! at the same time!). This morning I did the Step Only premix from Intensity, 5 1RM tests, and pull-ups: 8, 5, 6, and 18 second negative.

Cheryl Sorry you didn’t get your workout in. Do they have any idea when the rain will let up? I am not too familiar with your seasons but is this even typical? I would probably be feeling much like you if it was raining non-stop for weeks on end. I hope your office is cooler today and that you can take your lunch break.

Janie Great job on Clean Max! Maybe that could be Cathe’s next series. She could do a video showing us how to get a good workout cleaning each room in the house!! I looking at the Pro-Form 290 SPX bike. Right now they have it for $299 with free shipping at the Pro-Form website. It looks like a good beginner bike and won’t take up too much room.

Pam I am very sorry for your family’s loss. You and your family seem so strong and I know you will all make it through this hard time. Intensity sounds like just the thing you needed to get your mind off of everything for an hour and you said blow of some steam. Please take care and know that we are all thinking of you and your family right now!

Have a good Wednesday!

Joey and I did TBS. We used heavy weight. Also Joey and I got a new couch, took out the old one, brought in the new one. If you ever dealt with moving a couch you know it's such a pain and so darn hard to do. They are not stable/off balance, so awkward, and very heavy. We managed to finish. Whew! That in its self was a workout, and was spent by the time we got done. I'm surprised both of us got out unscathed. Oh, and I've started on Weight Watchers. I haven't bought anything, my sister gave me a calculator and a tracker and a pocket book for how many points food are so that we can motivate each other. I started last week, and of course skipped my B day and started up again on Monday. I need to lose weight! My clothes still fit the same:rolleyes:. I haven't weighed myself yet. Maybe tomorrow for the first time since WW.

Pam, Yes, I saw that they are filming. I'm so excited about these DVD. Can't wait for May 1st to preorder. WooHoo! Oh, Pam, I'm so sorry about your FIL passing.:( So glad everyone was able to say good bye to him. (((((hugs and prayers)))). It's so hard to lose a loved one...
Great job on Intensity. Exercising does help you get through things.

Julie, DOM's is good. You are gaining muscle. It's wonderful that you enjoy this kind of rotation. You are so smart!:D Love to see you stretching and using the foam roller. It's magic for sure. Great job on those pull-ups. You are doing so well. Had to LOL when you said that maybe Cathe's next series should be Clean Max. You should suggest that in the forum over there, really. How funny! Everyone will get a kick out of that one. LOLLOLLOLLOL! Sorry, it hit a funny bone.:D It looks like I might also have to invest in a spinner bike. I have no room though! What's a person to do?

Have a great day everyone, especially Pam.

Janie

Janie Good job on clean max today. I need to do that too, but I did get all the litter boxes washed out and clean litter put in after dinner tonight and cleaned up the basement. At least that is done. Now if I can just do a little bit each night I will have a free weekend . Today for the weather it wasn't too bad but it did rain on the way into work.

Pam I haven't done Circuit Blast too much either. I have that on tap for tomorrow morning. My body is getting the same way where low impact is the way to go but I still like the high impact as well. It is amazing how much difference the weather makes to the commute. We do have the cherry blossoms out in bloom that look really nice. So sorry to hear about you FIL. I do think that the time spent with him last week made a difference in how all of you are handling it. I will be thinking about you and your family at this difficult time.

Julie The short cardio is nice for a change of pace. I think lifting as much as you can for 8 to 10 reps would give you DOMS. Well it is supposed to get nice starting tomorrow and the rain is suppose to go away until Monday. This is very typical weather for us unfortunately and after months of constant rain it does wear you down. The office was much cooler today and I did get out for lunch so that really helped.

Well I did manage to get up early this morning and do HiiT Pyramid. It felt good to get it done and not worry about it after I got home from work. I also heard on the news that the Women's Ski Jumping will be included in the Sochi 2014 Olympics. I was so glad to hear that, it is just too bad that they couldn't complete in the Vancouver Olympics. I would have liked to have been part of that. Oh well at least they now have something to shoot for.

Have a great Thursday.

Cheryl

This morning I ran 3 miles and then did 6 1RM tests.

Janie Great job on TBS again! Couches are a pain to move but I bet all that TBS helped make it easier to move though! ;) Good luck on WW. I had good success with it a few years ago. It was the old plan that didn’t take into account protein. I think the new one is much more balanced and healthier. Maybe I will suggest Clean Max to Cathe!!

Cheryl Great job on Hiit DWP! Well I’m hoping the sun is shining for you and the rain we are getting now means you are done for a while. :D I like to clean a little each night too in order to have to less to do on the weekend. In addition to DOMS, I have also noticed I am hungry all the time. I guess that is my muscles saying “feed me”!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Julie Good job on your run and 1RM tests. The sun was shining today :D I forgot what it looked like. We aren't done with the rain yet, we will have a couple of days of sun and then it is back to rain . It does help to do some cleaning every night. The weekends are short enough to fit in all of the housework.

This morning I did Circut Blast. I will take tomorrow off because I know I won't be able to get up early again. I will need to do two days on and one day off I think.

TGIF

Cheryl

Did Rhythmic Step today. Whew! I weighed myself today after a week on Weight Watchers, and I have been approximately the same weight it seems forever. I lost a pound in one week. Also Rolly and I (and Baby), yes the tan and white pit bull and part something else went for a 30 min. walk. She was so cute with Rolly and always wanted to be in the lead. It was hard at first to put Rolly down in front of this big dog, but to my surprise, all went very well. The other dogs were invited to come with us, but they decided to not go. They didn't get a chance to see Rolly on the ground, I had him in my arms while the other dogs kept barking. After we were in the wood is when I let Rolly down on the ground. I was very nervous at first, but she (Baby) turned out to be a lady.

Cheryl, Good job on your cleanmax and Hiit Pyramid and today's Circuit Blast.

Julie, Fantastic job on the 3 mile and the 1RM tests. I've never been a person to stay on an eating program, but this one seems to be, so far, really good for me. We'll see what happens. I truly hope you suggest Clean Max in the "Suggestions for new DVD's".LOL:eek:

Take care everyone, it's just a bit quite here, don't you think? Hope all is well and healthy.

Janie

This morning I did the Cardio Only Premix from Circuit Blast. It was kind of short and I wish it would have been just 5 minutes longer or so. After that, I did 5 1RM tests and pull-ups: 8, 5, 5, and 18 second negative.

Cheryl Great job on Circuit Blast! I have only done the cardio only premix (today actually) but I have viewed the whole thing and looks like so much fun. I think your plan of a couple days on a day off sounds like a good one. Well I really think you sent the rain my way because it has been raining since last night and who knows when it will let up.

Janie Great job on Rhythmic Step! That one is so much fun! That is so cute that you let Rolly meet Baby! Pit Bulls get a bad rap but every one I have ever met has been a total sweet heart especially with people and other dogs. My Maggie is part pittie and she loves people and dogs but any other critter is fair game for a snack!

Have a wonderful, happy Friday!

Joey and I did TBS (as usual:rolleyes:) using heavy weight. We also did an ab work of Ab Hits and stretched. Later today I plan on a hurried walk, and my little dog too. First though, I'm going in the hot tub with my Kindle and continue reading one of my many books.

Julie, Great job on Cardio only premix from CB and those 1RM tests and your challenge Pull-Ups. You are so good! Pit Bulls are scary to me, because TV and other people make them out to be "Out of no where attackers". Everyone I know is cautioning me. It's hard to read an animal when it's not your own, but I do trust her somewhat, and it's getting better every time she comes over. I've enjoyed her so far.

Have a great weekend every one.

Janie

Janie Rhythmic Step is a fun workout. It is one I haven't done in a while but I think it may be in April's rotation. Sounds like the three of you had a great walk. I am glad that Baby gets along with Rolly. Pit Bulls do get a bum rap. I think it is all in how they are raised in how good or bad an animal can be. It is quite here but Pam is busy with her FILs funeral and Helen hasn't been here in a long time. It will get back to normal soon.

Julie Circut Blast is a lot of fun. The whole workout is about 44 minutes so it is a perfect length for me. You are very welcome for the rain :p, it was really nice here. There was blue sky and I could actually see the mountains that have been covered in clouds for who knows how long. But don't worry it is suppose to rain here again on Sunday so I will take it back from you.

I took today off but I did get my daily walk in commuting to and from work. We bought a new stove last week and it is being delivered tomorrow. I can hardly wait. I have no idea how old ours is and it is starting to act up so it will be nice to have a new one. They could be here any time between 8 am and noon so I have to get up early if I want to get my workout in before they get here.

Have a great Saturday

Cheryl

This afternoon, Rolly, Baby and the big dark gray Mastiff took a walk in the wood for 30 min. I wasn't too sure on the Mastiff, but it all turned out very well. At least until we got home. The big male was waiting for his females to get home and once he saw all of us he started barking to get the females home. It's going to be a loooooonnnnng time to get him on our side. We won't give up. He did however get really close the other day. I had Rolly in my arms while the male was barking and he came just a few inches to smell Rolly. He must not be neutered.

Hope you had a wonderful day off and good for you for getting your daily walk in.

Cheryl, I do now remember that Pam is preparing for the funeral.:(:(

Take care,

Janie

This morning I did KPC-Cardio Conditioning Premix which just leaves out the punch/kick combos and abs. Then I did 6 1RM Tests and some pushups (90 sec. rests between sets): 45, 30, and 25. Now I am starving and going to eat breakfast and drink coffee before getting down to business on Clean Max. :(

Cheryl I hope you enjoyed your day off and that your stove got installed no problems. It is so exciting getting a new appliance. Almost as exciting as getting new Cathe DVDs! It is really overcast here but no rain since last night. We are supposed to be on Thunderstorm watch the whole weekend! Oh joy!

Janie Great job on your walk and getting another dog to come along. I think Mastiff’s are just so beautiful but they are huge and DH said no way would we get one because it would take up half the house. The other male may just be timid but it is best to let him come out of his shell on his own.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
