Strength in Numbers

Hi ladies,

It looks like I missed a lot while I was gone. I was going to respond to everything but don't have enough time. Cheryl, I'm glad you are back, I know what a crazy time of year this is, we missed you! I kind've miss going to the gym, but everytime I think about going I think about how easy it is to just walk upstairs.
Janie, I'm so sorry to hear about Joey's skin cancer. I know that the waiting will be torture, but I do hope you can enjoy your holidays. I'm so sorry that you have to be in limbo for so long!
Julie, I think I can give you a run for your money at bowling - MAYBE!
Penguin, I pre-ordered XTrain. I noticed that it is all done, so maybe well be getting it soon. We can only hope anyway.

I guess Friday was the last day I was here. The birthday party for my sister Friday was really fun. My other sister is basically disabled and doesn't usually come, but she was feeling good that night and came too. We played a lot of the music that we used to listen to growing up and singing along. We had a great time. On Saturday I did Crossfire then ran a errands all day. In NYC on Sunday we walked all over town and went shopping at Macy's. It was a madhouse but really fun. I decided my workouts while I was there should just be walking around town and not in the gym. Monday morning while DH was at work I walked from one end of central park to the other and back and then walked Fifth Ave and over to Times Square. That was a much slower pace because I was stopping in at shops along the way. I got home Tuesday night and DH had to go to Pittsburgh for the night. Wednesday morning was To The Max and medicine ball abs and this morning was STS disc 22 Chest, shoulders and triceps. I was bummed when I saw it had pushups, but luckily not too many! I haven't decided what tomorrow's workout will be yet! Have a great evening ladies!

Didn't do much in the way of workouts. I did do some yoga though. Better than nothing I guess.

Julie, Glad to see you can bowl with that huge boot on. Great job on this morning's GS back, shoulders, and biceps. Please give Maggie and Ozzie a pet for me.:) Ozzie seems full of mischief. Makes me smile again.:)

Penquin, I orfered XTrain too. Great job on TB prim. from Drill Max.

Cheryl, Good on your rest day. Should always take that no matter what. We have the same weather as you. I have to go out in it tomorrow. :(

Julie, Great job on the floor work from B&G and the spin bike. Be sure to be safe and prepare for outages. Snuggle up and enjoy the storm.

Penquin, Great job on the other half of DM cardio blast prem. I think it's fun too, should do that one soon. Enjoy your cooking and knitting tonight and cleaning. Lots to do.

So last night was fun driving home but it was much than this morning. The interstate was a pure sheet of ice. What is normally a 45 minute commute turned into about an hour and a half. Luckily our power only went out for about 2 hours last night and was back on before we went to sleep. I did get a workout in this morning, PUB, despite not getting good sleep last night. Ozzie was stealing my pillow again.

Penguin Great job on Cardio Blast from DM! Sometimes previewing workouts can bring on the dread but I have never been able to just jump in with both feet. I am an over organized planner that must have every detail mapped out including escape routes.

Pam Great job on keeping up with your workouts while you were off work. Plus all that stopping at shops has to count for exercise too! Are you on vacation until next year? I'm working today and Monday and then off from Christmas until January 2. I'm hoping XTrain comes in while I am on vacay. I know the DVDs won't get to me then but I got the downloads so if they at least get them shipped, I will be spending my days previewing the goodies to come.

Janie Great job on yoga! Yoga is fantastic to do. I had to force myself to do yoga and then for the month or so before I broke my foot I started to really feel the relaxing effects of doing it consistently (well once a week). I have missed it for the last 6 weeks. I will give Maggie and lil’ stinker Ozzie pats for you. They love attention.

Julie, OMG, driving during this time of year is awful. Great job on PUB. You are going to have to tell Ozzie to stop hogging the pillow. LOL:D Yeah, I'm really liking the yoga too.

Julie I like your attitude that working out would make your smile :D. Good job on the floor work from Butts and Guts and your 15 minutes on the spin bike. I saw on the news that you guys really got hit with snow, it makes ours look like nothing :eek:. Your commute was not fun at all. Too funny about Ozzie stealing your pillow.

Pam Glad to see you back. The gym is really close to me about a 5 minute drive if that. You got a good walk in on Monday. Good job on To The Max, med ball abs and STS disc 22 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps.

Janie Yoga is a good workout, it may not make you sweaty but it really does help with your flexibility.

Yesterday I was feeling kinda blah, too much chocolate at work :eek:. So I just did Segment 2 of Stretch Max when I got home. I took today off work so I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the Elliptical and then some leg work. I used the squat rack which I haven't use in years and then I did the leg press machine, leg extensions and hamstring curls. After that it was grocery shopping and housework. Tomorrow our family is going to Whistler for the day. We are going to do the Peak to Peak Gondola. Should be fun. Below is a link to it.

Today is Hubby's last day of work until after Christmas which his boss gave him off, out of the blue. I wrapped presents yesterday, which means I stuffed them into penguin gift bags. I'm cleaning house today, but hopefully one of my friends from Knit Night will call, she was planning a trip to a not so local LYS and offered me a ride! Hubby and I are going to my parents for Christmas so I don't have to do a deep cleaning for company

Julie oh wow, those snowy and icy drives Are so stressful. Glad you made it home safely through that and hope you are staying warm! Great job on PUB despite your bad sleep.
Yes, I am on vacation until next year. I can't believe one week is already gone though! I am not a previewer, when I get a new workout I just plug it in and do it. I like the surprise factor :rolleyes: that and I'm too antsy to sit and watch.

JanieCongratulations on being done with your shopping. I did my grocery shopping this morning so I'm done now too :D that is such a great feeling!

Cheryl Oh I can relate to that feeling of too much chocolate or cookies or whatever's right now! Ugh! Great job going home and doing stretch max anyway after that. Great job on your gym workout too! Whistler is supposed to be just beautiful! I hope you enjoyed the gondola!

PenguinHow nice that your DH got a surprise day off! Did your friend call? I hope so! That is a nice treat that you don't have to do deep cleaning for Christmas! Great job on Hiit 40/20! That is a toughie!

I realized that I haven't been here since Thursday, sorry about that! Friday morning was plyo legs, I can't remember which number, the one without the 1/2 turns :D but with the one legged burpees :( I started them on my left leg this time because it always seems like the harder leg. I discovered that whichever side I do second seems like the hardest leg :confused: Friday night we had our big annual dinner party for all of DHs golf buddies and their wives. I think this was our biggest yet, we had 18 people. We had a lot of fun. So much fun that I didn't work out yesterday morning :rolleyes: in fact I was recovering most of the day. :confused: I did get out and got my sisters gift and stocking stuffers which finished up my shopping. This morning was disc 24 back and biceps and the tough core premix from Core Max. She's right, it was tough! Christmas Eve is here this year so it's dinner for 16 tomorrow. Everybody brings stuff though, so it's not so bad. I'll try to check in tomorrow, but if I don't get here, Merry Christmas to all of you!

Penguin That was a nice surprise your hubby's boss gave him. Good job on Hiit 40/20.

Pam Whistler is beautiful there was a lot of snow and a lot of skiers and snowboarders. Good job on plyo legs. Oh those one legged burpees are hard. Well at least you had fun at your party even with not feeling too great the next day. Good job on disc 24 back and biceps and the tough core mix from Core Max. Yesterday we went up to Whistler so I didn't get a workout in. It is a 2 hour drive each way and on the way back it was snowing for part of the way. There were tons of people there and the gondola was fun. You have to take one gondola up about 6,000 feet before you get to the peak to peak gondola. It was really cold up there too somewhere between 20 - 25 degrees. This morning was yoga for some reason I was really stiff so the poses were not easy to do this morning.

Saturday I actually was able to complete the scrambled premix from Cycle Max. Then DH and I had to run errands, do some shopping, and holiday cooking. Sunday morning I did GS Chest & Triceps and then had my family Christmas party. I was going to do Butts & Guts Floorwork this morning but I only got about 3 hours sleep total last night. For some reason, I was having an insomnia attack and could not shut my mind down. So I ended up sleeping in. DH thinks I was just too excited about today being my last day of work until after the New Year.

Penguin Great job on Push/Pull! That is a great weight workout. Quick but very effective. I am so excited about Xtrain shipping!!! That sounds wonderful to not have to host Christmas at your house. Enjoy your time at your parents. Great job on 40/20!

Janie I try telling Ozzie that it is my pillow but he just looks at me like “so what, I’m cute so I get it instead.” Hope you have a wonderful family Christmas get together.

Cheryl Great job on Stretch Max 2 and your gym workout! This morning there was no attempting working out on so little sleep even though it probably would have put a smile on my face at some point. Wow! That looks like it would have breathtaking views and be an incredible experience. Great job on yoga. I wonder if the leg work out from the gym and the long sit on the drive and gondolas stiffened you up.

Pam Great job on plyo legs, Party Max, and disc 24 + tough core! Oh boy you sure did party it up to the max if you had to recover most of the next day. But hey, once in a while won’t kill you! Hope you have a wonderful party but don’t party so hard you need another day to recover. XTrain will be here soon and you will need all your strength to get through it!

Merry Christmas Eve. Hubby and I ran some errands, then tonight we will go to his parents for Christmas. Tomorrow we go to church with my parents then later we will meet at their house for dinner and presents. No plans to exercise either day, lol.
 
Didn't do any exercises today. Did finish my art piece though. It's called Zander.

Pam, From Friday on through the weekend you did great on your exercises. Sounds like the Christmas activities are enjoyable. Also enjoy your Christmas gathering tomorrow for 16, wow.

Cheryl, Great job on your yoga. Wow the Whistler trip sounds like soooooooo much fun!

Julie, Great job on the weekend exercises. I only did one yoga this weekend.:( I get insomnia attacks too. :rolleyes: Makes for a very long day.

Enjoy your time off and I agree with DH that it was the reason for your insomnia. You are probably right that the reason I was so stiff was from my leg workout and the time spent in the car.

Cheryl I can't even think about having snow right now, it's hard to imagine enough to ski and snowboard. I'm glad you had a nice time at Whistler, that is one long day though. I hope the snow on the drive wasn't too bad. Hat can make for some very tense driving! It sounds like yoga was the perfect choice if you were that stiff, hopefully it helped to loosen up your legs a little.

Julie great job on the CM scrambled premix. I'm amazed that you could do that with your boot! That is true dedication! i'm sorry yiu had such s bad sleep, but congratulations on being done with work for the year! Relax and enjoy the time off! Last nights party was much calmer, so no long recovery needed today :eek: I will be ready for XTrain when it arrives!

Yesterday forming I wanted an intense cardio workout but wasn't write up for Intensity, so I did the first hour of the original Body Max (all but the upper body work). That was Judy the ticket! W had a nice Christmas Eve with my SiL and her family and my mother and sister. Today will be just us and our kids and my mom and sister. I may get a workout in at some point. I had planned to get up and do one this morning first thing, but when woke up I decided I'd rather enjoy a cup of tea with the DH and get the mess from last night cleaned up. Now we are chilling waiting for out coffee cake to bake. Merry Merry Christmas to you and your families!

Good morning ladies, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas! We had a nice quiet day. My mom and sister didn't come over because my sister wasn't feeling well, then around 8:30 or so we got s call saying she needed to go to the emergency room. So DH and I went and took her to the hospital and we were there until they admitted her around 2 am. She is a diabetic, among many other health problems and couldn't get her sugar levels down. It turned out she had a really bad urinary tract infection which is why her sugar levels were going crazy. They admitted her though because her trip omen levels were elevated. I had never heard of that before, but she has had 3 heart attacks and apparently it's some kind of indicator of possible heart issues. She wasn't happy to have to stay there last night, but hopefully she will get to go home soon.
Anyway, after being up til after 2, I slept until 9 then got up and did CCC! I had decided yesterday I was going to do ittoday, but then almost wimped out because of being up late, but decided I couldn't use that excuse since I still got 7 hours of sleep. It was hard,but I got through it. This time I did a new mix, round 1,2,4,3,5. Whew! Today is cold and rainy here. Julie, Penguin, are you getting any of the big snow storm? Stay safe!

So Hubby and I woke up today, He had to go back to work, and I had breadmaking and laundry waiting for me, so I guess life goes back to normal!

Its snowing lightly with a little buildup on the ground but not the streets. Just enough to be pretty.
 
I did Cathe's Afterburn. The whole stinking thing {55min}! which I've never done before, I've always done premixes. If like me you can't do the pusups/planks in the workout it ends up being more cardio so I stuck it in that catagory to see if I'll do it more often.

I finished the laundry and just realized I forgot about the bread dough in the oven. :eek:
 
Pam Good job on the first half of Body Max. I am glad that you had a nice Christmas Eve with your family. Scary for your sister to be admitted to hospital. You have to be careful with sugar levels when you are diabetic it can be dangerous. Wow she has had three heart attacks!!!! That is really scary. Better to have to stay in the hospital overnight just to be on the safe side. Good job on CCC today too. That is one I need to do again.

So yesterday we went over to my parents for Christmas dinner and had the rest of the family over too. We didn't get home until 11pm way past my bedtime and of course I still wake up at 4am and can't get back to sleep :mad:. I was going to go to the gym this morning but I was way too tired so I just did some stretching at home, even that I had a hard time doing :rolleyes:. It was Boxing Day here so another day off from work. Tomorrow I am back at it for a couple of days until the weekend.

Cheryl, I got to the bread in time, it was okay, thanks for asking. I can't do pushups and planks in cardio because I'll black out. I sub more cardio-like moves, such as during the planks where we are supposed to kick toward the other side, I did cross-kicks while standing. Gotta love a short work week
