Strength in Numbers

Rest day today. My elbow is feeling so much better now. I can't wait to start exercising it in Jan. I feel so confident that it's healing, I canceled my visit to the doctors.

Cheryl, Great job on yoga max. I know about taking part of the ceiling down. Did it at the Beach House, and was also a huge gaping hole. Don't envy you, but once done, you will feel so much better. Tango sounds like a very inquisitive animal. LOL Oh no! TRX sounds dangerous. Hope your head and back feels better soon and glad you weren't seriously hurt.

Pam, I'm thinking waiting to give my Dad his present when I can present it to him in person. I just don't want to miss his reaction. Great job on STS disc 13 chest, shoulders and triceps.

Julie, I've decided to wait giving my Dad his gift until I can present it to him in person. I just can't miss that reaction. I'm glad you are felling better. Great job on GS Chest and Triceps.

Pinquin, Great job on Cardio Blast prem. My Joey and I watch a movie together every night as well. Or something on TV. During the day he does his thing and I do mine. Enjoy your vest, I bet it looks wonderful.

Pam Tango always wants to be in the middle of everything. He is always looking for ways to get into trouble. I am fine after my spill I think it was more of a shock when it happened. Good job on STS disc 13 chest shoulders and triceps. Don't you love not having pushups.

Julie I am glad that your stomach and shoulder was feeling better. Way to go on GS chest and triceps. I hate drywall. Not fun to have to replace all the walls in your basement. My back is fine now but it did hurt right after I fell. I am glad that it happened to me and not one of my clients. Something to keep in mind. LOL yep barbells have a tendency to get in the way too don't they.

Penguin Way to go on Crossfire Cardio Blast premix. I love the smells of cookies baking. Glad that you and hubby are enjoying your movie nights. I hate the popcorn ceilings and I don't blame your hubby for not wanting a lot of dust. Wow spraying down the ceiling with a garden hose would really be another kind of big mess.

Janie Enjoy your rest day today. I am glad that your elbow is doing better. I agree that the ceiling will look much better once it is done it is just a long process. Tango is very inquisitive it gets him into trouble :rolleyes:.

So today I took another run at my TRX workout, I just used a door that opened the opposite way and I was fine.

Julie I'm glad to hear that your stomach was feeling better yesterday, I hope that it continued to cooperate! Great job on GS chest and triceps, but ick ick ick on all of those push ups. I agree, I don't understand why some of those workouts have so many. We'll all have to keep our fingers crossed that XTrain isn't like that! Maybe she should start having fewer push up pre-mixes!

Penguin Great job on CRF cardio blast. I haven't done any of the pre-mixes except for the tabata only ones. Oh yum, the smell of cookies is awesome! My gf gave me one of those jars that has all of the ingredients for cookies and you just add milk and eggs or something like that. It's been sitting on my counter because I don't want to make it and then eat the cookies! I should have done it while all of the kids were here for Thanksgiving. Of course then we had pie and cheesecake :rolleyes: I LOVE LOVE LOVE that your and DH are watching movies 'together' while he is traveling. What a great idea and makes it feel like you aren't alone! I need to keep that in mind for when my DH travels, as long as we are in the same timezone. That is just such a great idea! Great job on finishing your vest too. My least favorite thing is sewing everything together, so no sleeves would be a big plus there!

Janie I'm so glad that your elbow is feeling a lot better, I know you must be relieved! I am SO happy that you are going to wait and givve your dad his gift in person. You really need to see his face when he sees it. I don't know if he's emotional or not, but you could both end up sobbing! :rolleyes:

Cheryl I'm glad to hear that you weren't badly hurt! Good for you for getting right back to the TRX after that, I'm glad to hear that this time it went well. Great job! Did you enjoy the workout?

This morning for me was plyo legs disc 26 and ab circuits no equipment abs. I have some nice DOMS going from yesterdays upper body workout. I am really enjoying this rotation, it seems to have a little of everything. It's got some STS workouts, TTM and CRF and my favorites from the LI series! I might have to do this one again! This morning I did GS Back, Shoulders, and Biceps with skipping the supermans. I did add 3 sets of lat pulldowns (various hand positions) with the heavy tubing anchored on my pull-up bar. I don’t quite feel the lat pulldowns like I do assisted pull-ups but I am a little nervous about trying to do an assisted pull-up with my cast.

Penguin Great job on the Circuit Blast portion of CF! I love that portion of CF. I think because it reminds me of Afterburn which I love. That is such a great way to keep in touch while DH is out of town. Mmmm! I love the smell of freshly baked goodies.

Janie That’s awesome that your elbow is feeling better. I am so proud of you for resting it and not jumping the gun with working out again until it is all healed. That sounds like a good plan to wait until you can see his reaction. It is a special gift and one that you will treasure giving to him.

Cheryl I’m glad you were able to get your TRX workout in and that falling the other day didn’t do damage. That is a good thing that it happened to you and not a client. I can’t imagine what I would do if that happened to me besides be embarrassed. I am not sure I could get back on it the next day like you did which is quite impressive.

Pam Great job on plyo legs plus NE abs! I think my stomach issue was from eating things I am not used to eating. I usually eat yogurt every day and I think the probiotics helps but I didn’t eat any yogurt over the entire Thanksgiving weekend and I think that hurt me. That’s a great idea to have a fewer pushups premix!

I used the bread hook feature on a small hand mixer to incorperate the flour into the starter today and the texture of my bread dough was so much better! I wish I had tried that a year ago! I have a stand mixer but the recipe says not to use a metal bowl when you let the dough rise, but I think I'll try the stand mixer next week and just transfer the dough to the regular ceramic bowl I usually use. One more thing to wash but better bread is worth it.

Its chilly here. My rotation says a circuit for today. I weighed today expecting some progress since I've been watching what I eat & exercising again. No change in 2 weeks. Very fruserated!

Julie, I tend to like all of Cathe's workouts that alternate cardio and weighted work, but I'm just not thrilled about using weights in cardio, forutnatly I can choose to not use them.

Pam, watching TV together was his great idea. What did we do before texting? I'd get one short call a day, so this is much better. I didn't like the Plyo Legs workouts when I first tried them but they have grown on me. They are rather fun!

Cheryl, most of our house has popcorn ceilings but we have a few rooms with smooth ceilings. ??? makes no sense to me.
 
I did KCM's NYC {acromyns, much?} I started with the full workout, but didn't want to repeat sets so I skipped the repeats, there's a premix for that which I'll do next time! I thought the pace of this one was very fast for a weight workout.

Julie Good job on GS back, shoulders and biceps. It would be hard to do the supermans with a cast so I can see why you would skip them. You were smart to wait to to the assisted pull ups while you are still in a cast. You don't want to do any more damage to your foot. It wasn't sore the next day so I didn't have a hard time getting back to the TRX.

Penguin Hang in there with the weight loss. Sometimes there are reasons why you are not losing weight such as that time of the month, some water retention.I always try to look at the positive, even though you haven't lost weight you haven't gain any either :D. I don't understand why they do the popcorn on the ceilings. You would think it would be cheaper and easier just to paint them. Good job on KCMs NYC.

Today it was the cardio on premix of Higher Impact Step from 4DS. It was a short workout but I am trying to get it done in the mornings so I am not trying to do a full workout hoping to ease into mornings again.

Penguin One of these days I will brave making bread. i've made my own rolls and few times and I make pizza dough, but haven't really gotten into the bread making. I love fresh bread so much that I'd be afraid I'd eat the whole loaf! It was chilly here this morning too, we had frost on the ground. Yuck. Isn't that frustrating when you are being good and you don't see any progress with the weight?! I've been like that the last couple of weeks too. It's been staying right about the same or going up and it is making me really mad! :mad: I want to get my weight down with all of the holiday parties and things coming up but it is just not cooperating. I'm thinking about doing another 3 day cleanse/detox but not sure yet....I was really afraid of the plyo leg workouts before I tried them but I love them. They are some of my favorites. I did notice it when I sat in my chair at work today......:rolleyes: Great job on KCM NYC! It's just like at work with all of the acronyms!

Cheryl I'm glad you enjoyed the TRX workout. The rotation that I'm doing is Cathe's August 2012, it's a good one! Great job on the HIS premix. That sounds that a great idea to do shorter workouts to help get back into the morning groove! I am finding it harder and harder to get up in the mornings :confused:

This morning for me was Imax 3. I hardly ever do this one on it's own because I usually do the compilation that includes most of it. It was good to get all sweaty though! Friday is almost here, hooray! Have a great day!

This morning was a rest day and I needed it after DH woke me up at 1:30 to clean Ozzie’s ear out. :confused: Yes, you read that right. DH woke me up because he said Ozzie was scratching at his ear and we needed to clean it out. I was not happy with him—DH that is, I still love Ozzie! :p

Penguin Great job on KCM’s NYC (New You Coming?)! I don’t like weight work that moves too fast. I am really liking Gym Styles right now because she goes at a slower pace. Not much rest between sets but at least I don’t feel rushed when I am performing the actual move. Having another dish to wash isn’t fun but like you said if it makes the bread better, it is worth it. I’m sorry about the lack of weight loss. I was trying to lose in September and over the entire month I lost 0.4 pounds. But as Cheryl said, at least I didn’t gain.

Cheryl Great job on 4DS Higher Impact Step cardio only! That is a great thing to do for easing into morning workouts. I hope you have an easier time with it this time around. I’ve been trying to be extra careful with my cast on. The dr told me I could do lying leg work but I am a little leery of stressing my foot/leg any which may cause me to wear the cast longer. Once I get in a boot I might start doing the lying leg work.

Pam Great job on Imax 3! I don’t know why but I really love the interval (3 maybe) with the Michael Jackson song Human Nature. I am at 8 days now!! Of course, that is still 8 days until I get re-x-rayed to determine if I need to keep the cast or am lucky enough to get a boot. My DH keeps telling me that I shouldn’t get my hopes up because I will be really disappointed if I have to stay on crutches for another week or two.

Yoga was good yesterday. My elbow hurts some days and other days it's OK. Doesn't have anything to do with exercise if I'm very careful. Weirdest thing. I need patients.

Today is a rest day exercise-wise. I just got home from Bible study, lunch and shopping, then I’m getting picked up for Knit Night in a few hours. yay!

Julie, correct, New You Coming. I feel like if I'm moving too fast I'm not doing a good job, then compound moves confuse me also, I'm not good at physically doing two things at once. I plopped a 35# kbell on the scale to test it but its weighing right. sigh. Hubby couldn't have just cleaned the ear out himself??? Why are guys like that? I end up doing all the doggie maintainence on April, also.


Pam, I haven't had much success with rolls, so you are ahead of me. My bread uses a liquid starter which I keep in the fridge all week, so I don't have to fuss with yeast each time. I'm more of a sweets person so I don't eat a lot of the bread and usually try to make it as healthy as possible, which is why I make it. No HFCS

Cheryl, I think they blow the popcorn because its a lot easier than trying to get ceilings smooth. Good for the construction guys but its ugly for us.
 
Julie Oh my, what was your DH thinking waking you up at 1:30 to clean out Ozzie's ear?! I hope you got a better sleep last night! Hmm...I can't think of which interval interval 3 is in IMAX3. The only ones I ever remember in that one are 4 and 5 because they are so hard (the jumping the length of the step then across and tuck interval followed by the interval with 56 plie jacks:confused:) Keeping my fingers crossed that when you go back next week you'll get to get a boot! I bet that will feel heavenly after that big heavy cast!

Janie Was it something I said? ;) I think you have shown quite a bit of patience with your arm so far. I can't imagine being patient for that long!

Penguin I hope you enjoyed your rest day. It sounds like you had a really nice day with Bible study, lunch, shopping and knit night! Is your hubby home yet? The rolls I made tasted good, but they weren't very pretty, so I have some work to do there! It's funny, I used to be a huge sweets person but now I hardly ever eat them. Well, except I have to have something chocolate every day :rolleyes: I keep the dark chocolate doves around because II can eat one of two of those and it satisfies my chocolate fix. OK you got me, what is HFCS???

This morning was disc 15 back and biceps and then I did the core bonus from Crossfire. Doing these STS workouts this week is really making me feel like doing more heavy weights. Maybe I'll do some kind of mini STS rotation while I wait for XTrain. I haven't looked lately, does anyone know if there has been any news on XTrain? Happy Friday everyone! It's the last Friday I am working this year :D

This morning I could have totally slept in and been happy with that but I got up anyway (helps when DH gets up at the same time). I did Pyramid Upper Body including the abs minus the planks/pikes at the end. By the end, I was happy with the decision not to sleep in.

Janie Great job on yoga! Do you think yoga bothers your elbow? Sometimes down dog bothers my elbow and shoulders. DH ended up apologizing to me about waking me up. Guess he felt my dagger eyes piercing him.

Penguin Hope you enjoyed your rest day, looks like it was jam packed! That’s how I feel too about weight work that moves too fast. I just feel like I am using momentum and not muscle and I have to use less weight. Cleaning Ozzie’s ears is a two person job. In fact, clipping his nails is a two person job too. Ozzie squirms and fights way too much for one person to do it in an efficient manner.

Pam Great job on disc 15! I haven’t seen anything since before Thanksgiving on XTrain I am hoping they give an update today. I think XTrain is supposed to be more heavy lifting so that could be your fix if we get it when you are done with the rotation. If not, you could just do Meso 2 while you wait and quit early when XTrain comes. I think the problem was DH was not thinking at all when he woke me up. To his credit though, I had just been up about 20 minutes earlier to go to the bathroom so maybe he thought I wasn’t asleep but still???

Hubby comes home today!!!!!

April gets her Spa Day, I'm doing laundry{sheets and towels}, I need to get out in the yard and do some work since today is supposed to be faily nice. Maybe I should check next week and see if the weather will be nicer? anything to procrastinate! Cardio for later.

I weighed myself and the scale was UP 2lbs, that will teach me to complain about not losing any weight in 2 weeks!

Do you guys realize that tomorrow is Dec!?

Julie, April puts up with my cleaning her ears, clipping nails and brushing teeth but a second person would help, especially with the teeth brushing part!

Pam, High Frutose corn syrup! I tried to make hot dog buns with my bread dough once and I got cruton like breadsticks. Congrats on the last Friday! I tend to stick to the checkin subforum so I don't get tempted with something else I need to have. I cut down on chocolate intake and now I crave crunchy foods like chips, maybe I should go back to choc!?
 
Pam I don't think I did Cathe's August rotation. I should take another look at it. I have found it harder to get up in the mornings now for a few years. It used to be so easy now it can be a struggle. Good job on Imax 3 that is a toughie.

Julie What is it with men!!!! I am sure Ozzie's ear could have waited until morning. Too funny that you are not happy with DH but still love Ozzie :D. You don't want to do anything that will make you wear the cast any longer than you have to. It isn't too much longer until you go back to the dr. is it? Positive thoughts going your way that you will get the boot soon.

Janie Good job on yoga. Depending on the pose it could bother your shoulder. I like the TRX it is a good total body workout.

Penguin I can't believe that tomorrow is December 1st either. This year has just flown by. Four more weeks and it will be 2013.

This morning was Hiit Pyramid. I like that one and for me it seems easier than 30/30. Yesterday I didn't work out as the night before I took some Nyquil because my throat felt funny. Wow it took most of the morning for that to wear off.

Yesterday I went up in the dreaded attic and got the Christmas wreath, the table top tree and some outside lights. I got the tree set up on the dining room table and hung the wreath on the front door to brighten things up a bit for Hubby's homecoming. While I was up there I got the rest of my winter clothes that had been mistakenly put back in the attic before I unpacked them.

Cleaning house planned for today, as well as a LB workout and if I have the energy left I'll add in some cardio that I skipped yesterday. I was thinking a STS Plyo Legs workout.

Cheryl, Yes, everything seems to happen on Thursday around here.
 
Julie Great job getting up and doing a workout when you really didn't want to. PUB is a toughie too, great job! I don't think I have ever regretted making myself workout when I didn't want to, it seems to give me even more satisfaction on those days. I like your idea of doing meso 2 until XTrain comes, I may just have to take that suggestion.

Penguin How nice that you got the place looking festive before DH came home, I hope he had a good trip. I need to start doing some Xmas decorating, but I'm having trouble getting in the mood for it :confused: Hahah, I love your thinking on procrastinating on the yard work. :D Sorry that blasted scale was up, sometimes I just hate that thing! Ahhhhh HFCS of course! Too funny that your hot dog buns were more like breadsticks! I like breadsticks too though ;)

Cheryl you should take another look at the August rotation, it is really good. I know what you mean about mornings. I have been wondering how I ever did it at 4:30 am for a couple of years. Now i set the alarm for 5:30 and don't usually get up until almost 6:00 and then I am dragging mysefl. :rolleyes:
Great job on Hiit pyramid. Wow, that is definitely harder for me than 30/30. I think it is all of those 1/2 turn jumps.

Yesterday was TTM. I love that workout even though it kicks my butt! This morning I braved the dreaded volume 4 of horizontal conditioning. Those workouts are somewhat discouraging because I have to modify or quit early on almost every exercise :( It doesn't make me excited to pull them out, but I know it means I should be doing them more often. I stuck it out until the end even though there were a few times I thought about quitting. I just did major modifications. She does some crazy stuff! Have a great Sunday everyone!

I have Horizontal Conditioning "Get Rolling" and Vol.4 and just ordered Vol. 1. That will be enough for me. Today was yoga again and 30 min. on the spin bike. Sure needed both of them. My arm is still very sore, but like I said everyday I feel it getting better and better. So pleased. I think though that my dream of having a body builders body is gone.:( What was I thinking? Now my dream is just to be strong and healthy and be grateful for what I have. Haven't given up on being the best I can be, thanks to all your encouragements.

Penquin, Oh yes, getting ready for the holidays. That is always so much fun. Enjoy your planned workouts.

Pam, Great job on TTM yesterday and today's Vol. 4 (can't wait to do that one). Remember, these are really great for you because they challenge you and can be modified. You don't want a DVD that you can get through all the way. What's the challenge there? It certainly won't change your body. Very very proud of you for doing it the best you can. I know I don't know what I'm talking about yet, but I'll get around to it very soon then I'll probably realize my foot in my mouth. LOL;) Keep up the good work and be safe.
