Strength in Numbers

I thought I posted earlier! I did 30min on the treadmill while listening to a knitting podcast. I did get everything done and made a great veggie soup plus Red Lobsters Garlic cheese biscuits for dinner.

I cleaned then did 30min on the dreadmill. ZZZ!:p I'm enjoying the warm weather but wish it would make up its mind, this back and forth has my sinuses going nuts. Its supposed to rain this weekend so I better stop complaining about the nice weather.

My veggie soup was more like chili. I added cumin, nothern and black beans and barley as well as veggies. Hubby loved it! I'll have to do that again.

This weekend was pretty busy. Saturday morning I did the Kickbox/Bootcamp Challenge premix from Kick Max and then DH and I had errands to run and my niece’s 8th birthday party to go to. We also stopped by and visited DH’s grandparents who we haven’t seen in a few months. Sunday I did disc 19, chest, shoulders, and triceps. Then DH and I watched a few episodes of Pitbulls & Parolees before heading to his brother’s house for a baby shower. This morning was disc 20, legs. Anyone else feel like they missed out on that extra hour of sleep?

Penguin Great job on that treadmill work out two days in a row. I’m not a big fan of the dreadmill either. I have one but it really gets used as a storage rack more than as a workout tool. MMMM! That veggie soup/chili sounds delicious. I love soups/stews/chilis and Red Lobster biscuits are so yummy but I would have to have some serious will power to not eat the entire batch in one night. I thought of you today during my workout. Disc 20 is the workout that Cathe says your signature line, “That’s the only break you get, so I hope you enjoyed it.”

Janie Great job on 30/30! I think I start sweating with the warm up on that one. Funny how those warm ups in HiiT are almost as tough as the actual workout. No such luck on the DOMS from Friday’s heavy legs. Weird but I really only had mild DOMS not the loud ones I was expecting. I love the blue eyes in that Zentangle. They really pop out.

Have a great day!

Tonight was Butts & Guts. OMG! Truly a workout. Had to leave the weight alone though because of my elbow, but hey, still was a great sweat fest.

Great job on 30 min. of treadmill. Also 30 min. today on the treadmill. Your vegie soup sounds delicious.

Julie, Great job on sat. Kickbox/Bootcamp, Challenge prem from Kick Mac and errands. Wow, that's a lot. And on top of that visiting Dh grandparents. Great job on Sun. disc 19 chest, shoulders, and triceps. I like Pitbulls & Parolees, but sorry to say I haven't seen it for awhile. The last eposode was when she moved and there was a fire, but her place was miraculously saved. I don't know why I stopped. Also great job on this morning disc 20 legs.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Wow! I am two pages behind! We had a nice relaxing weekend, but its been chilly and raining. I forgot about turning the clocks back but Hubby remembered. We got up early {yuck} and voted today, which didn't take as long as I thought; I practically packed a lunch. :p And I was knitting while standing in line!

Julie, what I loved about Cathe's line was the break seemed so short, it just made me laugh. Break we had a break? I missed it! I was too busy gasping for breath

This morning after a very restless night’s sleep I did the plyo tabata from CrossFire and then Yoga Relax. Ozzie was not being a very good sleep mate last night. He kept jumping on and off the bed and walking around. I was very close to just staying in bed but then I figured he probably wouldn’t be any better so I might as well get up and do something.

Janie Great job on Butts & Guts! I’m sorry your elbow is hurting even when just holding weight for lower body work but as you said you can still get a great workout in. Pitbulls & Parolees moved from California to New Orleans at the end of last season. She was getting trouble from the neighbors about them not feeling safe with that many pitbulls on her property so she moved. It is a good show but I cry even when there are happy endings.

Penguin Good thing DH remembered the time change or else you guys would be running behind. That would be funny to see you knitting in line while waiting to vote. I guess it keeps you from getting bored though. That is so true about Cathe’s breaks, they are so short you wonder whether she really gave you one or not.

Have a wonderful day!

Rest day today. Will hit it hard tomorrow starting with cardio.

Penquin, Good thing you guys got up early, so you wouldn't be late for anything.

Julie, Great job on Plyo Tabata fro CF and yoga relax. So sorry you didn't get enough sleep. Hope you sleep well tonight. My goal is to start on the upper body portion in Jan. That should give it a while to heal. Hopefully. I sure hear bad things about tennis elbow. :(

Take care ladies,

Janie

This morning I did disc 21, back and biceps. Ozzie did much better staying put last night so I got some better sleep. He decided to make up for being good over night by being ornery this morning. I had all my stuff set out for my workout, gloves, weighted gloves, and wrist weights. He thought it would be funny to run off with my gloves and the little sandbags that go in my weighted gloves. Good thing he is cute!

Janie Hope you got all rested up and ready to hit that cardio hard! Was it a sweat fest? I think you have a good plan to wait that long to hopefully get your elbow healed up.

Have a wonderful day!

Okay Tuesday I baked cookies and moved a bunch of boxes of fabric from Hubby's office to my sewing room. These are 'paper sized' boxes that stack neatly in a corner behind the always open closet door, so we tend to forget they are there. The combo of the boxes and cookies made my back hurt, but I'm not sure why. Wed after Bible study I made a proto-type of a 'project bag', this is a sewn drawstring bag designed to put into another bag {such as a big purse} without getting your yarn tangled or damaged. I'd never seen one before until a Knitting Buddy showed me one that she had won in an online contest. My version turned out OK but not great, I could do better. Today I spent a couple hours making another version which is better {its lined and is bigger} but still not great. I forgt to leave the openings for the drawstrings so had to cut them open, which will fray, among other issues. Knit Night is tonight so at least I get to show them off. I left the empty boxes stacked in the middle of Hubby's office, hoping that I can reduce some house clutter by storing some seasonal or little used things that I don't want to end up in the attic or garage. And there's still 3 boxes of fabric and unfinished projects in my sewing room which I'm not sure what to do with. They may get stuck back in Hubby's office.

This morning I did 30/30. Well, sort of. Everything was going great until the fast feet shuffle when you shuffle your feet on the step and move around it in a circle. I thought I had plenty of room to move around the step but I miscalculated and when I turned to the back of the step my left foot came down hard on my barbell that was put together ready for legs tomorrow. I tried to shake it off and foolishly continued the workout in pain and not doing very well. After my shower, I called DH and told him what happened and long story short I ended up at the Prompt Care getting x-rays showing my fifth metatarsal is broken in two places.:( I got sent home in a splint and with crutches and will see an orthopedic doctor tomorrow who determine my next step. I wish there was a crying smiley (oxymoron) to insert here.

Penguin Sounds like you had a very productive couple of days. I hope your back is feeling better. The project bag sounds neat. I bet your knitting club will be excited to see it.

Have a good night.

Did 30 min. on the spin bike with a few breaks. Sure not use to it, but I'll get there.

Julie, Great job on disc 21, back and biceps. Oh what our furry animals can get away with for being cute. My elbow really hurts, so I may go see a doctor soon. :(

Penquin, Sounds like you were very busy with the sewing project. Does your hubby mind having sewing things in his office? So cute.

Julie, Great job on 30/30. I have to shuffle on the floor. Can't make it to the step. OMG! You broke your foot in two places. Wow! In my minds eye, I see your crying smiley oxymoron. You poor thing! Heal as fast as you can and take care of yourself in the mean time. Don't feel guilty.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Wow, I missed a lot being gone all week, I'll try to get caught up!

Julie Great job on your heavy leg work last Friday, I haven't read ahead yet to see if you got your hoped for DOMS, but hopefully you did! Thanks for pointing me to the mini mat, I think I will need to get that! I do get some cardio effect from the Horizontal conditioning. It's not intended to be cardio, but your are working so hard that your heart does get pumping! I almost did the double trouble AB pre-mix this morning, but was worried about the glute DOMS I usually get after doing that one, so I'll save it for another time!

Penguin I hate those days when you are looking forward to sleeping late and can't, that just isn't right!

Janei Great job on your 30/30 sweatfest, whatever day that way! Your new zentangle of your niece is just beautiful, I love the eyes! :p I understand what you mean about not making it so obvious to Joey with ordering all of the DVDs at once! Too funny! I have Cathe's mini-mat in my shopping cart on Cathe.com, just haven't pulled the trigger on actually ordering it yet! I still have a big scab on my elbow from the HC3 workout last Friday!

Penguin Great job on your treadmill workout while listening to the knitting podcast, it sounds like that would make the treadmill a little more bearable (but only a little!!) Your vegetable soup sounds wonderful and so do those biscuits! Soup is my DHs favorite food, I think he could live on it!
Oh boy, another 30 minutes on the dreadmill, good for you!

Julie Great job on the Kickbox/Bootcamp Challenge premix. That was nice that you got to stop in and visit with DHs grandparents too. Great job on disc 19 on Sunday and disc 20 on Monday. We were in Arizona when the time changed here, but Arizona doesn't do DST, so no time change for us. The only difference was that when we left there was a 3 hour time difference, and coming home it was only 2 hours. I feel like I got cheated out of that extra hour!

Janie Great job on B&G, that really is great workout, even if you can't do the upper body part!

Penguin We voted in early voting before we left last week and had no wait at all. That was so much nicer than standing in line forever. I'm glad youi didn't have to wait long on Tuesday! That's funny that you were knitting while standing in line!

Julie Great job on plyo tabata and YR after your restless night. I don't know abut the tabata, but at least YR seems like a good one after that!

Julie Great job on disc 21 and glad to hear that Ozzie was a little more cooperative. I'm sorry he ran off with your gloves and sandbags the next morning though, the little bugger!

Penguin Hmm, sorry to hear that your back was hurting after all of your work on Tuesday, I hope it is doing better now. Oh, I can relate to the bags/boxes of yarn and unfinished projects. I usually am really focused on finishing projects, but when I get into one and start thinking I'm not liking it, I tend to lose interest and move on!

Julie Oh was going to say great job on 30/30 but OH NO!!!!! So sorry to hear about your foot, that does not sound good at all! Please let us know what the orthopedic Doctor says :(

Janie Great job on the 30 minutes of spinning. I think that gets your heart rate up like nothing else!

So just a quick catch up on my week. Saturday morning I did Intensity, I wanted a nice toughie before leaving on vacation. Saturday afternoon we left for Sedona, AZ. What a fun week we had. It is just the most beautiful place, breathtaking scenery everywhere you look! We rented a jeep and did a combination of 4 wheeling and hiking all week. We had at least one big hike every day (and usually more than one) and figured out that we hiked about 25-30 miles in all. Some of them were fairly easy hikes and then a few were more strenuous (up the side of a mountain and back down). It was really really fun. After the third day though my feet were really sore and swollen from all of the hiking, but they must've gotten used to it because the last day wasn't too bad. I got home last night and DH is now in Phoenix playing golf until Monday. Our oldest (Eric) is running a marathon in Richmond Va tomorrow, so I am toying with the idea of going up to see it. The youngest (Carl) really wants to go and try to run along with him, I'm just not excited about the 3 hour drive after just getting home. We'll see. This morning I wanted a little easier workout so I did Circuit Blast. I have only done that one a few times, but it was perfect for me this morning. Only 45 minutes but it still gets your heart pumping and you get a little weight work in as well. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Janie Great job on the 30 minutes of spinning! You are working your way up on that bike.

Pam Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation. All that hiking was probably a nice change of pace especially with all the beautiful scenery.

So I went to the orthopedic doctor this morning. He showed me my x-ray and told me I had what they call a dancer's break because many dancer's get these types of breaks from all the jumping and landing. Bet I was the first one he has seen that got it from landing on a barbell! Anyway, check out my new "shoe". I love blue so that is what I had them use for my cast. I have to be in the cast for at least 4 weeks. At 4 weeks, if I am healing on schedule, I will get a walking boot. In the meantime, he did clear me to do any non-standing weight or bodyweight work. So I could do pushups from my knees but not my toes. I can do side lying leg lifts but no standing leg work or cardio. Guess I will have at least 4 weeks to really work, work my upper body into shape.

Have a good day!

Starting Sun. will do a cardio. Sat. I'm just going to do artwork. LOL Hope I get something done. I am doing better on the spinning bike. Not as many breathers, but still hard work for me. My legs need more of it so thinking about doing Cathe's spinning workout.

Pam, Great job on Sat. Intensity. You guys really had a great time. Sounds like I should one day visit Sedona. Wow hiking every day and doing about 25-30 miles in all. Your whole family is in such great shape. Very impressive. Did you take your youngest to run along with Eric on his marathon? Great job on CB this morning.

Julie, Sounds like, even though you have broken foot, that it's not going to stop you from doing your exercises. Good For You! I'm so proud of you.

Take care ladies,

Janie

I did something to my neck/shoulder again. I think I"m sleeping on it wrong. At any rate I did laundry, gave someone her Spa Day, finished a hat and knitted some green fingerless gloves, which were supposed to be for me but they came out big enough for Hubby. Good thing they aren't pink. I'm going to try again in a smaller size. Ravelry: patchworkpenguin's Green Mitts for Hubby

Julie, sorry to hear about your foot. I'm sure the dr hadn't heard "i stepped on my barbell' before, dropped maybe!

Pam, we usually early vote but just didn't get it together this year. I try not to have to many projects going at once, just so I will finish them. I do have some that are 'hibernating' because I've lost interest.

Janie, the boxes are normally hidden behind an always open door so I'm not sure he even remembers they are there. We don't actually use the office much except the computer is in here.

My neck is better but still hurts. I'm cleaning house today. Nothing too exciting there. Called my Mom to sing her Happy Birthday today, but will see her tomorrow when we all meet for lunch at Firebirds. Hubby and I are attending a concert at our church tonight. If the smaller size gloves are too small I can give them to my Mom tomorrow.

I did a picture of "My Joey". He asks "How did you do that?" So worth the effort.

Penquin, Glad your neck is getting better, must be so frustrating for you. Great job on cleaning the house even with your sore neck. Enjoy the concert at your church.

Julie oh my goodness, i can't believe you are in that huge cast for at least 4 weeks. you poor thing. it's nice htat you can at least still do upper body work though. so you are going to have an awesome upper body and Janie is going to have an awesome lower body!

Janie OMG you sure did gt some artwork done, that drawing of Joey is absolutely amazing! I sure hope you are framing that one! Your drawings just seem to keep getting better! You really should go to Sedona sometime, you would love it. It is beautiful. We were going to go to the Grand Canyon for a day but we were enjoying Sedona so much we didn't go, we decided we will just have to go back another time. Carl and I did not end up going to the marathon. When it came down to getting in the car for the three hour drive he decided he would rather stay here and hang out with his friends  Eric said that's ok, he just won't go to Carl's first marathon :D

Penguin oh no, sorry to hear that you messed up your neck and shoulder. Mine took a week to feel better, I hope yours isn't as stubborn! You had quite the active day though with Aprils's spa day, laundry and finishing your project I have that issue a lot with things that I knit ending up the wrong size, even though I am good about checking gauge  it's one of the reasons I don't knit so much anymore. It's also why I like scarves! :p
Enjoy the concert, and your mom's birthday lunch tomorrow!

Yesterday morning I did horizontal conditioning bootcamp and all I can say is OMG, it was sooooo hard. I don't think I made it all the way through any of the core moves  the format is a minute of core then a minute of plyo metrics. The core moves are all pretty much done on one side and then the other, so a 'round' ends up being about 4 minutes. Not sure how many rounds there were, but the workout is 67 minutes. It killed me. Surprisingly though, no DOMS today  that is really disappointing after how hard it was! I'm thinking I should do it about once a month to see if I improve at all. We'll see. This morning I did the double trouble premix of AB thanks to Julie's recommendation. It is shorter, only because she cuts out all of the breaks! I did like doing it that way better though. I was able to do all of the burpee/straddle push-ups and all of the zombie drags doing it this way. Now I'm off to blow leaves, the fun never ends! Happy Sunday! Hi to Cheryl, I hope we haven't lost you!

The good news is I figured out what I did to my neck, the bad news is I figured it out by doing it again. We have a high bed; I'm pretty tall and if I'm sitting on it my feet dangle by 3-4 inches. So when I want to sit on the bed I kinda hop up and when I did it today my neck went crunch. So I'm back where I started.

The concert was good; I really liked the opening act, too. It was nice to go on a date with my Hubby. We don't do that enough.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to order a turkey from the meat market for Tday, Hubby is attending a Veteran's Lunch with his boss. And we hope to have some fun later in the day. but its supposed to rain.

Pam, I'm terrible about gauge and have the same problem with things not fitting. I joke that if I make something for someone else it fits great, but if I 'selfishly' make something for myself its going to be the wrong size. I think in a lot of cases I'm so afraid something will be too small I make it too big.

Janie, great job on 'Joey"!

Penguin Oh no, I can't believe you messed your neck up again  Hopefully it doesn't last too long and you remember not to hop up like that next time....! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the concert and your date, it is nice to have little dates every so often, isn't it? We sometimes get so caught up in all of the day to day stuff that we don't remember to just enjoy each others company!
Oh boy, Thanksgiving is next week, isn't it? I guess we have to figure out what we are doing. We usually get together with my SIL and her family, but I'm not sure if that will be the plan this year or not as her in-laws are coming and my MIL who usually comes isn't. I hope you and hubby get to have some fun this afternoon, even if it does rain!

My plan was to start Cathe's August rotation this morning and figure out how/where to fit some of the HC workouts in. I had such a terrible sleep last night though that when the alarm went off I added an hour and went back to sleep. I'm still exhausted errrrrr. Carl didn't have school today so he had some friends over last night for a bonfire. They weren't loud, but every so often someone would come into the kitchen to get some water and then would wake me up. Then in between those times the cats decided to use me as a jungle gym. Hopefully tonight will be better. Happy Monday everyone!

Pam
