Skinny Celebrities

Wow, I'm really surprised at some of the comments here. Not everyone is "big". I don’t even weigh 100 pounds and I eat 1500-2400 calories a day. I enjoy ALL foods. Yes, I workout with Cathe, but sit for 9 hours straight afterward at my job. Maybe people’s metabolism is different, but if someone is small doesn’t necessarily mean they are lying when they say that's just how they are made. I'd love to be bigger (at wear juniors clothes).

Yes, I always thought her face looked puffy (Ritchie) and a little round. I haven't seen her lately. Her stats sound underweight to me but I am not up on that height range that she is...I am 5 7.

I remember Lara Flynn Boyle circa Twin Peaks ages ago(80's) and she was not that skinny! I also remember Sarah Jessica Parker and I think she's natural thin because she was already thin during her Square Pegs days (this was also in the 80's I think). Nicole Richie looked chubby compared to Paris Hilton in the early episodes of their reality TV show but I just saw some pics lately and she did lose a lot of weight.
I'm Asian so I get irked when people expect me to be skinny. I'm 5'4 and 115 lbs and they think I'm fat (they - meaning relatives, some friends). They think I should 100-105 lbs. I already avoid them because I cannot stand their nagging. It's so irritating.

WOW! so if i posted an article about fat celebrities.. would you all trash them and talk about how they work at getting that way too? (by stuffing their faces with junk food?)

i'm so sick of this double standard.. trash the skinnies but gawd forbid if you say someone is fat....

stop the double standard!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and YES i said FAT cuz the title says SKINNY and to me that is the equal derogatory word for large or small people...

>I know it's a common thought that it is these such celebrities
>that cause our obsession with being thin,

and that video game made me kill someone.... and that gun made me pull the trigger..... we are each responsible for our OWN actions....

>But, ewwwwww. Can you imagine hugging Lara Flynn Boyle or
>Mary Kate Olsen? If I were a guy, I'd pick Queen Latifa over
>them any day.

>

and if i said ewwwwww about queen latifa.. you'd all jump all over me... why? cuz she's a larger woman and it's not PC to point it out....

i hate the double standard at fitness boards

>I do think some people are just naturally thin. My
>office-mate is 5'6" and 95 pounds. Just good genes.

How can being so tall and so skinny be "good" genes? As much as I wish upon a star to be thin, I certainly wouldn't want to be so tall and so thin. It doesn't sound like anything good to me. Sounds her her genes are as bad as mine - only in the other direction.

But the fact remains, as I posted in a thread a long time ago, being overweight is perceived as being a character flaw rather than just a physical characteristic. Being thin never has been and never will be perceived that way.

that doesn't make it right! i swear i've threatened to call someone FAT the next time they call me skinny! (too bad i won't have the guts to do it when the opportunity arises!)

if anyone knows better than to talk trash about thin people.. it should be folks at fitness boards!

IF IT'S NOT OK TO TRASH SOMEONE WHO IS LARGE IT IS NOT OK TO TRASH SOMEONE WHO IS THIN!

and why does the person who stuffs their face have a character flaw (so it's ok) but the person with the discipline to not eat a lot is a freak? why isn't that simply a character flaw?

nuf said! danged double standards!

ya... funny how this thread has popped up... i just got my azz handed to me on another board for having the audacity of saying someone was large (large.. not fat mind you... not the same equivalent that the word skinny is) yet here everyone thinks it's just fine to trash the thin gals...

this IRKS me to no end! you either trash BOTH or trash NEITHER! (or use decent wording and proper/politically correct words!

skinny is as bad as saying fat!

>Ewwwww. Lara Flynn Boyle. Calista Flockhart. Courtney
>Cox. I have this fantasy that they arrive at the red carpet
>by ambulance, and are immediately taken back to the hospital
>right after their appearances because they don't have the
>strength to walk. They and many others are just so gross.

Or it's a windy day, and they just blow away!!
I hate it when I see someone who looks "not the regular celebrity skinny minny" like Jessica Simpson or the woman in Brigitte Jone's Diary after she made the movie, who seem to get pressure for being "too heavy" when they look just fine, then later they show up looking "too skinny." VH1 has a show on red carpet moments. And one of the celebrities they features was the Brigitte Jones actrice (why can't I think of her name?) When she was more than a size 2, it seems, they refered to her as portly, chubby, fat, plussized (I'm sure even then, she wore a size 6 or 8, hardly a plus size). What a warped body image.

>This is a huge gripe of mine. Not only how unhealthy it is,
>but that it's only women.

Yes! And on American Idol, Simon always mentions when the women seem too 'fat" to him. He doesn't say a thing about the men (Reuben!).

ditto! but let it be a fat bashing thread and all hell would break loose!

i have to agree with you there, kathryn... it's WRONG of simon (or anyone) to do that... but that doesn't mean those of us who know better have free reign to do it just cuz everyone else does!

didn't your mother's ever ask you "if janie jumped off the bridge, would you jump too?"

works here too

>even then, she wore a size 6 or 8, hardly a plus size

i agree that size 6 or 8 is far from plus sized.. but remember.. today's 6 or 8 is really what used to be a 10 to 12 or larger! vanity sizing SUCKS! (and makes it really hard to shop for clothes!

i should be wearing a 4 in "real" old fashioned clothes size.. not a freaking 0!

Nicole Richie is a shorty (5'1 or 5'2"). Paris Hilton is the Amazon. I think Paris' torso is probably bigger than my whole me from toes to scalp! She may not have been overweight before, just soft (Nicole, not Paris. Paris is a rock)

I wondered why all of a sudden I'm wearing a 2! Sizing used to be odd too, didn't it? Like, I was always a 3. But then I was a 4. I have some jeans that are 5 (which are now too big, thank you very much). But now I'm buying 2's! Even when I was only 94 lbs., I was still a 3. (the 94lbs. was when I did cardio only with no weights).

No wonder Americans are getting so overweight. Even the clothing industry is making them feel like they're smaller than they really are. Perhaps it's a plot between fast-food restaraunts and The Gap?????? Anyone....anyone...?????

I agree with you scm. I run with a lady who is 5'6" and only weighs 108.Everyone in this town thinks she has a problem b/c she is so small and runs. They don't understand why she runs and then there are other people who think she doesn't eat. Well,I have known her for a couple of years now and this girl is not afraid to eat.She just turns after her dads side of the family.
I think the whole point of this thread was to point out people who weren't small to begin with and now they claim that they have always been small. And of course they are celebrites and feel the presurre to be thin. But you know what? What about if they weren't celebrities? They may still have had these issues. Is it just that we see them and we see what they are doing? What about all the people in "the real world".Anyone can not eat enough.
I think we all know that people can be overweight or naturally thin. The friend I was talking about was never this small, and I know all to well she as eating issues.
