Push It

Happy Friday!! Today was TTM. I switched the compound leg segment for the fitness tabatta. Ok, I just have to ask: Who the heck does pushups and mountain climbers in a tabatta???? Holy crap...I was like an old lady getting down to the groud, but I was able to pull them off. I also used the same step height as Cathe and crew. I have been wimping out since I got the workout and using one less riser than the crew. But I'm working on my mental toughness in my workouts, so I made sure to match Cathe today. It was actually pretty good. I dislike 180 degree turning squats  With the step or without!! Cathe kills me with those toward the end of the Plyo leg work out and they were no better in this workout!! I just slowed down the pace so that I could do them for the entire 30 seconds.

But I am proud to say that I got my six workouts in this week and my legs are not fried!! I should be fine to do Plyo legs again on Sunday.

Tasha
Please come back to report on the XTrain UB workouts!! I'm super excited that there is NO REPETITION!! I hope that holds true for SuperCuts. I'm really looking forward to that one. Surprisingly enough the Hardstrike clip didn't do much for me. I'm hoping actually doing the workoutwill be better.

Stacie
No Jazz doesn't do all that with me. She is doing three mini workouts a week at home. It's just suplimental conditioning for her. No more than 30 minutes. She also practices for 2.5 hours 2x a week. I want to make sure she gets enough rest and doesn't have wobbly legs when she's at practice!!

Have a good weekend everyone...rest day for me tomorrow!!

Good morning everyone! Last night's workout was Basic Step. I was a little bummed out that I didn't have more time because I wanted to do one of the Xtrain workouts as well. I did get everything downloaded except for Hard Strikes. I had to put in a support ticket for that one. The user guide is pretty nice for this since it has some nutrition tips and it displays the weights Cathe used in the workout. I did short previews of some of them and they look pretty awesome. I had thought the tabata work out was low impact for some reason. After previewing parts of it, I know that assumption was definitely wrong. It still looks great though. Oh, one more comment on the 100 reps bonus...on the couple I checked out it looks like one of the exercisers does the 100 reps while Cathe talks through it. I didn't expect that either for some reason.

Natasha
I was so bummed out to read that you were having issues with the download code. Did you get them figured out? My code worked fine but I discovered the ethernet card on my laptop doesn't work! That was a huge bummer! I also didn't realize you had a maximum of 6 downloads at a time. It was clicking on Hard Strikes too many times that caused me to be able not to download that one. Anyway, I hope you and Cathe support got everything figured out.

Toni
2.5 hours of practice twice a week! That is a ton of cheer leading! Do the girls go to competitions? I can understand the mini workouts too especially with that much activity already and based on her age.

Well ladies, today is the big day for the IUD. Wish me luck!

I'm so &%$#ing peeved right now . Stupid me, I deleted my Cathe email invoice which had the download code :mad::mad:. I never, and I mean NEVER delete my receipts. I have no idea what got over me that I felt the need to clean up my email like that . Oh well, vent over, and yes I'm acting like a 5yr old child who did not get what she wanted. I'm waiting for a code to be sent to me by support. I hope they don't take days. Please pray to the "support gods" for me!

My w/o yesterday was M2 W4 Back & Bi's + I fiddled around and did some cardio with my new high step for 20min :D. I'm in a nice DOMS state today, so at least there's that to make me happy :D.

Toni
WTG on killing it with TTM! I agree, some cardio moves require you to go to your "happy place" = 180 degree turns. That move sucks!

Stacie
I will admit this, I'm selfish with my workout time. I don't think I would ever spend weeks working out with my friend and having her take away my precious "advanced" exercise time. You are very kind, generous, and selfless. I respect what you are doing. I hope she appreciates what you are doing for her :).

I will report back when/if I try a new workout today.

Good evening everyone! This morning I cheated on my neighbor and did Supersets from Xtrain. It was a good workout with some new moves and I didn't have the dread factor I get with Afterburn. I would classify it as low impact too which is awesome! Last night was the kickboxing portion of Kickmax. My neighbor bailed on the leg drills. Tonight is Pure Strength Back and Biceps. I am planning to do a Xtrain rotation in January with just the strength DVDs. I don't think my neighbor would be able to handle the cardio workouts yet.

Natasha
Thank you for the kind words about working out with me neighbor. I try to increase the intensity as much I can to make the cardio workouts more advanced. Some, like the Richard Simmons, are impossible to make harder. The weights I do the same as I would do here except sometimes shorter workouts. It's not that bad. It makes me happy that she is losing weight too. She is down 5lbs already! Hopefully, I can get my act together and start doing double workouts on cardio days at least.

It sounds like you got your download code. Hooray!

All my downloads are done :). I'm impressed with SNM's customer service, especially during this crazy time with the holiday's and Xtrain release.

I spent a good portion last night previewing the w/o's. Me likey a lot . What impressed me the most so far, was Cathe actually "guiding" during the 100 Rep Challenges instead of doing them herself. I really liked this. You can see how awesome she is as a personal trainer -- the way she observes the girls, touches the muscles, talks to them, encourages them. It's a side I've never seen. She exudes such beauty and grace. My DH came in the room to see a w/o I was previewing and commented on how amazing she looked. To think that all those people on Collage were ripping on her body is absolutely ridiculous! This super fit woman is almost 50 for heaven's sake! Her legs are absolutely flawless, her muscles have such nice definition, she is strong and admirable. Just awesome .

My w/o yesterday evening was M2 W4 Chest, Shoulder's & Tri's. Today's w/o will be All Out! Wish me luck .

On the downside, I think one of my fish may be sick with a disease called Ich (characterized by little white spots on the body) :(. I've been worried for a few days now, so much that my sleeping has been disturbed. I know they are just fish, but I get attached to any pet in my care. Today I am going to the pet store to see if I need to treat him as the infection could spread to the other fish. I don't want to lose all my buddies :(.

Stacie
WTG on doing Supercuts! I'm glad you liked it and there was no dread. It does resemble AT a little bit, you are right.
Congrats on your neighbor losing 5lbs too. That's a wonderful motivator to keep going.

BBL! Have a good day :)

Hello ladies!
Natasha i was wondering, i read u previewed the workouts. But did you, do one as well? I love hearing your reviews on a workout as well as others. I hope im not cutting in and offending anyone for commenting on your thread. I read you guys alot. Lol i love to hear all of your, comments on everything not just wo. Wow natasha, so they were saying bad things about Cathe body? How can anyone find something wrong with that? Id love to look like her. Even at 23 yrs old when i was 103 pounds and lifting medium weights i never came close to her. And really i wonder what, they are looking like? Im sure they shouldnt be throwing stones lol. People can be cruel and mean depending on there day i guess some people are not happy unless they are hurting others. I dont like it either if they say bad things about Cathe. Lol
Have a great day everyone! I still cant, wait for xtrain.

Hi ladies,
Can't believe it's been days since I checked in last but sure enough - time just got away from me.

Saturday morning I did PUB - am still very sore; it felt great at the time but my biceps and chest aren't feeling too great now;)

Saturday's mail brought me XTrain! I'm still trying to read through the guide... I want to know everything about the program.

My original plan was to do Hard Strikes as my first XTrain workout however I ended up doing All Out L.I. HiiT... It was great! It was a good workout and didn't have any dread factor to it at all. Certainly wasn't as hard as Cross Fire or anything extreme like that but it was a good, solid, low impact workout. I enjoyed it. The premixes are plentiful - looking forward to adding on:)

I may do RIDE tomorrow morning; I'm very curious about it.

I do plan to do the 1RM (although I just found out that it's actually more like a 10-rep max) but it will have to wait until I'm fully recovered from PUB. I'm not sure if I will do the program as directed or if I will make a model of it... I'm just thrilled to have new and fantastic workouts to choose from!

Tasha,
I am so sorry to hear about your fish being sick. I completely understand being upset about it! You are compassionate and they are living beings in your care and they depend on you. What did you find out? How are the other fish doing?

Tobogganing?! What a rush! So glad you had a great time.
Hahah! Too funny about your purses and men:D

Thanks for the review about the 100 rep challenge, too.
I agree about the Customer Service - I've contacted them a couple times and have always had immediate very nice responses. So glad you got your download codes!

Stacie,
How did the big day go? I hope you're feeling great!
That is awesome news about your neighbor losing 5 lbs! You're a good motivator and trainer:)

Hi Renee, I've seen your posts and you have such a positive attitude:)

Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve, everyone!

Hello all!! Have not received my XTrain yet, so hoping for tomorrow!! I don't plan to start for a couple of weeks, but I really want it now :) Someone posted the first two weeks of the XTrain/LIS rotation and Slide-n-Glide plus Turbo Barre is in there. I'm incredibly intrigued by that. I haven't done Turbo Barre and I really want to find a way to fit it in somewhere. So I'm really excited that it's in there. Oh, and I"m headed off next to buy S&G...hehe!!

Today was STS Plyo Legs D3. So happy there were no 180 turn squats, but 1 legged squat thrusts....really??? I was a hot mess doing them. They are fairly late in the program and I must have been tired because keeping my balance enough to get down, out, up and jump was incredibly difficult. My legs didn't really even get a chance to feel it cause I could barely hold my balance to do the move!! Hoping next week will be better, assuming that move is in the next workout.

Tasha
Good luck with the XTrain workout. I can't wait to get mine!! Sorry to hear about the fish. That's awful!!

Jennifer
Thanks for the review of Low Impact HiiT. It's nice to have a workout with no dread that feels like we worked, but didn't kill us. I get through CF and TTM, but I'm dead afterwards...LOL!!

Stacie
Congrats to your neighbor!! You need to get certified as a Personal Trainer!!

HeartyMax
Hello and I hope your trip is going well!!

So I innocently went to buy to pick up Slide N Glide, but then I thought I can't just get ONE!! I also picked up:

STS Total Body
MMA - all three(Boxing, Kickboxing, Fusion)

So there goes $100 of my fitness budge for next year!! I'm so addicted to Cathe!!

Happy New Years Eve :)

My w/o yesterday was Xtrain All Out + 100 Rep Barbell Hip Thrusts

All Out - exceeded my expectations and some! No repetition, great moves, rockin' music, a lot of lactic acid in my legs, fun, sweaty. I swear Cathe must have read my mind as it truly resembled my fav Low Impact Hiit section from Intensity. The step section was FUN, and I was happy to see some moves from Low Max & SJP. The S&G section BURNED my legs & glutes! Only 1 set of mountain climber's which I didn't mind because it was only 1 set. No plank exercises, which REALLY made me want to kiss Cathe :D. Not as hard as Afterburn, but that's just fine and dandy by me :D. NO DREAD! Overall I give this w/o an A.

Barbell Hip Thrusts - Ha, ha, ha. HOLY MOTHER------. I started out with 30lbs thinking I was a star or something. My neck started to ache after the 30th rep, as you must keep you head up and in good alignment. I'll have to work on that. Midway through the reps I went down to 25lbs. By the 80th rep I just wanted to give up, my neck and butt were hurting so badly. I paused for a bit and continued. IT WAS KILLER! Be sure ladies to have a mirror and check your form with this one. I would also start off with a lighter #, then adjust accordingly for next time.

I will not be doing an official Xtrain rotation. TBH, some of the workout days require 80min, and that does not fit my schedule right now.

Toni
LOL on the new workouts :D. I like STS TB, but I will be honest and say that it is a bit lacking in the bi's & tri's department :(. You use no dumbbell's for tri's, just dips . I also find it to be overload in the dead-lift department. I remember Susan agreeing with me also. The MMA's are a great choice! Kickbox is on the easier side, but ok for a light day. S&G is awesome . The toning section left me sore, and no weights were used just a firewalker band! Your core is gonna fry too! Love it .
The 1 legged squat thrusts are KILLER HARD. Even if you did them at the beginning, they would still be challenging. It's one of those moves that only get's easier the more you do them.

Jennifer

PUB does it again!
I just read your post to respond and saw you did All Out too :D. For me, what made the difference of no dread was eliminating plank exercises and repetition. Glad we both had a great w/o! Have you previewed Tabatasize? Oh my, that one looks a bit dreadful . The first Tabata is exactly like the Crossfire one but with no firewalker band. I like how Cathe incorporates step to break it up though.
I think the fish is actually ok. I thought I saw tiny white spots, but now I don't . Perhaps it was food particles or dust since we just did a 20% water change so it disrupt the tank a bit. I will keep an eye out on the little guy. I was not prepared at how much time and effort it takes to keep multiple freshwater tropical fish healthy and happy.

Hi Natasha,

My husband owns a pet shop. He said ick is usually caused by rapid changes in water temperature, like for instance if you brought a new fish home, and the temp was different then where he came from. Or from a water change. There is stuff you can buy that contains copper sulfate and that should help. He said go to a local pet store, preferably not a large chain as the emp tend to not know fish care too well. They will tell you what to do.

Good luck,

Elizabeth

Good morning everyone! My neighbor and I started to do The Firm's Cardio Party last night but honestly, the moves just looked awkward. We didn't even make it through the warm-up. It became more of an off night. Saturday night we did Pure Strength Back and Biceps in the evening. My neighbor is getting more confident and stronger with the weights. She upped her values on her own and was pretty happy with the results. She said for the first time in her life she could feel her biceps. She even showed her guns to her sons the next day! I am not sure if it was her idea or theirs but she asked if they could watch us one day. That will definitely be interesting. She also said that they also want us to go to the gym with them and workout with them. Another interesting idea...I am not sure what to make of either of those suggestions!

So, does anyone have any plans for New Years Eve? I will just be hanging out with my son and then working out. Of course, I had to work today as well. At least tomorrow is a "day off" although I will be working from home to make up for hours lost last week.

Natasha
Awesome info one the All Out Hiit. I really want to try that one out. Maybe tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the tips about the barbell thrusts too.

That's wonderful news that the fish are doing better! Hopefully, emigliori's tips will help you out too!

I am planning on building my own rotation with Xtrain. I would like to do each on of the weight workouts this week to see if my neighbor can handle them and to see what the best rotation schedule would be. I would love to do the 30 day one but there is no way my neighbor could handle the cardio right now. She is still in the beginner phase in that realm.

Jennifer
Thanks for you review of the new Hiit as well! I am sooo dying to do that one! You are lucky too that you received your DVDs already. The mail so slow here in Denver.

The big day went well. It wasn't bad at all and honestly, it feels wonderful to not be on the pill any more. I don't have to remember to take anything or refill prescriptions. I haven't had any side effects either. In fact, I feel less headachy. We'll see if it stays that way!

Toni
That was too funny about the DVD purchases. That sounds EXACTLY like something I would do! It is like an addiction isn't it?

I can email you the full rotation if you would like. She put them all in the user's guide. I think you can import them into your workout manager too.

HeartyMax
Happy New Year and come back soon! We miss you!

Renee & emigliori
Thanks for your posts! Feel free to drop in whenever you feel like it or become regulars ;)!

Have a wonderful New Year's Eve everyone!

Hi Ladies---I'm back. After being away for 8 days and no workouts...I am pleased to report I was up early to get in some cardio on the elliptical. It felt really good to workout this morning. I ate a lot of GOOD FOOD (but bad for you) while I was away. Gotta keep my system clear of all junk this week. I had a really nice time visiting with my family. People often made comments such as I always look good and keep my weight down. One of my husband's nieces asked me if I was a personal trainer because she knows that I workout all the time. I just explain to everyone that exercise is something that I enjoy. It keeps my stress at a minimum and I happen to enjoy the weight benefits and the health benefits.

Tasha and Jennifer-
--thanks for the reviews of the new workouts. Good to know that I can find a few with no dread factor.

Toni
----I'm like you---I just want my workouts. I don't know if plan to start a rotation but I do plan to check some of them out this week. My mail was on hold while I was away so I am hoping they will be in the stack of mail that I am waiting to be delivered today.

Stacie
--how exciting to hear that your neighbor has loss weight and seeing muscle gain. I am sure her boys are proud of her. You are a good friend to encourage her to workout and give her the support that she needs.

DH and I are celebrating 18 years of marriage today. We have dinner plans this evening so I am looking forward to that.

Happy New Year!!!

DH and I are celebrating 18 years of marriage today. We have dinner plans this evening so I am looking forward to that.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy anniversary! How wonderful :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL LADIES!.
I look forward to "checking-in" with you all in 2013 .

DH and I had a nice anniversary dinner. Lamb chops were delicious. Had a glass wine to celebrate.

Today's workout was All Out. I agree with Tasha and Jennifer----no dread factor at all. It really works the legs but you are not gasping for air like in After Burn. It is definitely low impact. I checked at the 100 rep challenge scarecrows but only did about 30 just to check them out. I also had the wrong weight. I see Jai was using a 3 and I had a 5 which was too heavy. I have a lighter weight but I can't remember if is a 1 pound of 3 pound. I like the core bonus segment.

I counted my Cathe workouts this morning. I have 104 different workouts. SHHHH don't tell DH. :D I haven't set any fitness goals yet but I really would like to consider adding some running to my workouts this year. DH would like that so I will see if I can consider that by spring time.

Happy New Year ladies and enjoy it. It is back to work for me tomorrow.

It came, it came!! Our mail usually doesn't run until 3pm, but it ran early yesterday. I was actually working out when DH brought it in. I really have to concentrate so I didn't abandon my workout and rip open the package..hehe.

Yesterday was MM UB premix. I was going to do All Out today, but I've done something to my lower hip and it hurts. I'm skipping today and may have to just do elliptical the rest of the week. Lifting my leg laterally hurts and stepping up hurts. I want it to be at least 90% before I get back on a step.

I'm still reviewing everything and putting together a rotation for myself. I'm thinking I need at least two weeks of low impact to make sure this hip is all the way right again. But then I must do Tabatacise!!

Tasha
I saw your rotation on the other forum and it looks really nice. I think I'm going to follow Cathe's UB rotation and do my own thing in terms of lower body and cardio.

HeartyMax
Happy anniversary :) Scarecrows with a 5lb weight?? I can feel the burning now. If Jai is using 3s that probably means I need 1s or 2s.

Stacie
We went to a friends house for New Years Eve where I drank heavily :)

Hope everyone had a good evening! I'm a boring mom, I went to bed early . My sleep is more important than celebrating these days.

I walked to my mom's for a New Year's Day lunch today. She lives about 20min away walking distance, but Bella stopped along the way to play and jump in snow, so it took 30min. It was cold, but we bundled up nicely and had a lovely walk. The sun was out with clear blue skies. The snow looked sparkly and beautiful.

No workout for me today, which is a good thing because I'm sore as heck! I did Hard Strikes yesterday and really enjoyed it! Very simple, basic, straightforward Boxing moves (jump rope, jacks, punching, hooks, jabs, upper-cuts) yet very effective. I felt as though I was in a real Boxing session, except with kick-butt music. Those looking for "more" might be let down. The UB/Core toning section fried my abs! This section is also very basic, including plain ol' sit-ups & push-ups, but man did it work me! I felt as though I was in Rocky . Good stuff :D.

Toni
Happy you got Xtrain but sorry to hear about your hip :(. I hope you recover quickly :).
As for the rotation, I think your idea to follow Cathe's UB and do your own LB and cardio is a good one.

Heartymax
I love lamb chops & red wine :p.
Glad you liked All Out too :).
How awesome that you want to start running with DH. I actually forced mine to go back to the gym after a 2 year hiatus, and I'm so glad I did! He is much happier (and healthier!) lifting weights.
How great of everyone to give you compliments. My grandmother told me I looked "too skinny" today . I flexed my bicep muscles and had her feel them, and told her "no, I'm not skinny. I'm STRONG!". She was impressed :D.

Stacie
I think you should def go to the gym with her son's!!! Show them what you got fit lady .
I'm SO happy to hear about your neighbor progress! You are truly amazing for helping her out :).

Jennifer
I hope you and Craig had a wonderful New Year's eve!

Toni---hope that hip starts to feel better so you can jump in and try those new workouts:D

Tasha---I did a quick preview of Hard Strikes this morning. I have never been a fan of any of the kickboxing workouts. However, from what I saw, this one really didn't have a lot. I was using the forward button so maybe i skipped over it. There was some weighted work and seems to be some good core work also but I just didn't see much boxing as I expected. Anyway, I have to actually just do the whole workout I guess. Trust me, I am not complaining as I think I am going to like it more if it doesn't focus so much on the boxing.

Today's workout was Chest, Shoulders and Back. I like the fact that the book tells you how much weight Cathe is lifted. That gives me a pretty good idea of what I should be doing since I never did my 1RM. There were a few that I knew I needed to go lighter. Chest Flys bother my shoulder if I go to heavy so I like to stick with 15's for those. This workout moves really fast without the rest breaks.

It's back to work today. Have a good one everyone.

I am posting my official Xtrain rotation:

D1 - Cardio
D2 - Xtrain Legs* (standing only) + rear delts
D3 - Xtrain Bi's & Tri's + 100RC tri's or bi's*
D4 - Cardio
D5 - Xtrain legs (floor only) + barre + 100RC hip thrusts.
D6 - Xtrain Chest, Back, Shoulder's + 100RC lateral raises or scarecrows*
D7 - YOGA + Xtrain core 1 or 2

every week I will alternate:
* Legs & Cardio Leg Blast
*100RC Bi's & Tri's
*100RC Lateral Raises & Scarecrows

My goal is to keep workouts under 1hr.

Happy New Year - may this be an excellent year for everyone:)
Warning - this will be a long post since I'm touching base with everyone.

Nothing for me today until Ripped class tonight.

My last couple workouts have been Ride and chapter 1 of Hard Strikes; both were great as you all already know from the reviews... and because it's Cathe;)

I'm thinking Supersets will be my next workout.

I STILL do not know what Scarecrows are! I'm going to look it up on the Net.

Tasha,
Hope the fish is still spot-free! I agree, fish are not maintenance-free that's for sure! My turtle tank required weekly cleaning - entire cleaning, I might add. He was so adorable but after a few years I was glad to give him to a place where he could hang out with other turtles and which also freed me from the chore.

It's great that you have a w/o plan in place:cool:
Doing standing work and barre work in addition to other leg work - I imagine you will be hurtin' for cert'n:D
I didn't realize the official rotation requires 80 minutes on some days.
Good to know! The premixes will come in handy if I want to try to do at least some of the rotations.

I haven't checked out Tabatasize yet but the reviews sound great.
As for the Hip Thrusts - wow! WAY TO GO on not giving up! I can imagine how freaking' HARD that must have been! 30# is a good weight for me if I'm doing a FEW sets until Fatigue; Geesh! So actually, do you think starting with 30 and then lowering to 25 was good, or do you think you'll start with a lower weight next time and just keep going?

What a nice NYD you had, and I think it's so cute that Bella wanted to stop and play in the snow:D
As for your NYE, I'm not even a mom and I've enjoyed plenty of those sleeping-party nights!

Craig and I had a great NYE; we didn't try getting together with anyone - StL had a Wintery Mix going on and we felt mostly like just staying in... we to a small and cheap Mexican restaurant that's down the street from our house and had an early dinner, we played some dice, watched some movies and a comedian (Bill Burr - hilarious!), had some adult beverages, and were actually still awake to toast at Midnight:D

Heartymax,
So glad you really enjoyed yourself over the holiday:)

Explaining your reasons for working out to your family will hopefully give them something to think about if they don't workout already and are contemplating an exercise routine of their own, and they know that they can always go to you if they have questions:)

Happy belated Anniversary! Your dinner sounded fabulous! 18 years on 12/31 - I think that's a great day for a wedding!

As for Hard Strikes, let us know how you like it. It is a fun, steady-state cardio that is very easily modified for low impact if you want to go low that day or every day. And as Tasha said, it's about a half hour for that first chapter. By the way, I used 1lb wrist weights but feel I could go up another half-pound or so... I have some old Beach Body gloves that are under a pound so I will wear those as well next time.

Toni,
Very sorry to hear about your hip; injuries are such a drag:(

Way to stock up on Cathe DVDs! I agree, they are addicting! BTW, I need to foam roll my hips especially well after S&G; if I don't then I always feel it.

Is your daughter still enjoying her workouts?

Stacie,
That's great news about your neighbor! You have given her such a positive experience with her first real workout buddy who also happens uses heavy weights:)

I agree with Tash - you should go to the gym with her sons - they might motivate you and they, no doubt, will be thinking how cool it is that you are strong and that will also motivate their mom. Not to mention that I think it would just be FUN to go to a gym with a group of people:)

Have an awesome day!
