Jogglers September

Hi Jogglers!

I did my 5K race this morning at the Rhythm and Ribs BBQ Festival. It was at the Georgia Museum and Historic Village. The race was both pavement and dirt plus gravel and over some railroad tracks. The dirt part was really nice through dead cornfields and around the historic village. There was the smell of BBQ in the air. The race started at 9am which was good since I got to sleep in but it also meant running in the sun and heat. I felt good at the beginning of the race but tanked a little at the end. The course was not certified so I think it was longer than a 5K.

I ended up taking 3rd in my age group (40-49) and got a nice medal with a pink pig wearing sunglasses and strumming a guitar. We met a couple of girls that I have seen at other races and chatted with them for a while. There were lots of nice folks there.

So I'm resting for the remainder of the day. Tomorrow is a long run.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Terrific race Jane! It's tough to keep a good pace when it's hot!

DH and I went to Newport's First Beach to do some surfing. Igor is creating some nice wave action up here for us! I got my first surfing lessons today! I did pretty well and only got whacked by the board once - on the side of my face. I have a lovely bruise on my cheekbone. Yes, it really was the board. No, DH didn't hit me! LOL! I can only imagine the questions at work on Monday if it doesn't clear up by then!

I was exhausted after that! So, that was my workout for today! There are pics on FB so you can check those out! Don't mind the thunder thighs! It's just my suit. I got it before I lost weight so it's really baggy now!

It was so much fun! DH says I've earned a boogie board! Woo-Hoo!

I was trying to look up calories burned during surfing and I think every website under estimates! It's hard work getting back in the water, fighting the waves and carrying the board. DH has a beautiful longboard we had custom made when he first started surfing and even though it's fiberglass, it is hard to manage!

I'm so proud of myself! You know how weak I am in the water and my fear of it. Slowly, but surely, I'm getting better!

Hope everyone else had a great Saturday!

I decided to take it easy today. I have serious doms from yesterday's run. I guess I can't go for two weeks without a run. I will do 3 miles with Leslie Sansone later tonight.

Way to go Jane!! Thats awesome!

Hi ladies,
I'm in Va. I drove a dog up here to drop him off with a rescue group that will find him a good home. I'm spending time with my mom at the National Sheepdog Finals and with my brother and his family in DC. I didn't workout yesterday but got 8,000 steps in on my pedometer. Not bad for a day in the car. Today I didn't workout but got in 18,000 steps including a short, fast tempo run with Nellie this morning and then another short, fast tempo run with my niece (she rode her bike) this afternoon. Tomorrow I will watch dogs run in the morning and then drive home in the afternoon.

Tricia - Way to go with the surfing!!

Jane - Way to go with your race!!

Alisha and Cindi - Hi!

Lisa

Lisa- 18,000 steps is great.

I am taking a rest day. I felt horrible last night and I think I just sweat out all my electrolytes on Friday and did not replace them very well. I had two home made muffins yesterday with a gluten enzyme and I think it just didn't work out very well. I have decided that the gluten is just really not my friend at all. ouchie. I plan to go for a joggle tomorrow and get some yoga in the evening.

Hi Tricia and Cindi and Jane!!!

Alisha

Hi Everyone!

Tricia ~ WTG on the surfing and conquering your fear of water!!! You are SUPERWOMAN!! I'm positive that surfing burns TONS of calories. Sounds like you guys had a great time!

Lisa ~ Great job on getting all those steps in! Hope you have a safe drive home.

Alisha ~ I hope you feel better!

Hi Cindi!

I ran 8.2 miles this morning. I wanted to do more but my IT band was talking to me at the end of the run. My body is not used to running 2 days in a row. The morning was gorgeous...a tad humid but temps were in the high 60's.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Alisha - Sorry you're not up to par today! Hope you're feeling better tomorrow!

Jane - Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting Lesson #2! Congrats on 8.2 miles! I have a tough time running two days in a row as well, especially if the first day was a longer run (more than 5 miles). Glad the weather was cooperative!

Hello Lisa and Cindi!

Tricia- I am reading your blog!!

I'm dressed and ready to go for my joggle/hike thingy.

Hi everybody!!! (done in the Mr. Burns style.)

Alisha

Hi everyone.

Weekend was fun! I'm flying to Denver this afternoon and in meetings all week with dinners in the evening. I'll be back on Friday.

Tricia - that picture of you on the surfboard smiling is beautiful! You look so happy! I have fears too (we all do) and it is fantastic that you faced yours - it shows in that picture. WELL DONE!

Jane - good job on the 5K!

Alisha - hope your joggle/hike thingy went well!

Lisa - HI! Did you get home ok?

Recovery week for me. Talk to you all on Friday!

Hi Jogglers!

I'm doing the following workout tonight - upper body and abs. My lower body is still a little sore in places.

5/5 1-Arm Sit ups
5/5 KB Rows
5/5 KB Floor Presses
5/5 KB Push Press
5 Triple Crush
5/5 Slashers

Tricia ~ I enjoyed reading your blog. Great job on pushing yourself out of your comfort zone! I love the pics of you on the surfboard as well. You look great!

Cindi ~ Have fun in Denver. We will miss you!

Alisha ~ I hope you had a nice joggle/hike!

Hi Lisa!

Hi ladies,
I got 7000 steps in yesterday which wasn't great but wasn't too bad for a car day either. I ate like crap all weekend. Getting back on track now. I did AOS Providence this morning. I'll catch up with you all later.
Lisa

Hi everyone!

Another unsuccessful morning. Sigh. I WILL get my butt back in gear! Things are just a little out of synch right now.

Thanks for all the kind words on the blog! I have to share it with you since you are my "family." I promise not to add home movies!

Funny, I just realized that I haven't let my other family know I'm even blogging! Guess I should share with them as well!

Alisha - I hope you had a great joggle today!

Cindi - Have fun in Denver! It's one of my favorite cities!

Jane - Excellent workout - as usual! I'm biting at the bit to sign up for a complementary KB consult at Punch Gym here, but am trying to wait until I actually have some to use at home!

Lisa - At least you got some walking in! It's tough to eat well on the road! Good for you getting AOS in and UBB today!

I have done nothing all this week yet! At least the number on the scale isn't moving!

Have a great afternoon!

Step Max

for later today. I walked 3 miles this morning with Leslie Sansone. I skipped the yoga last night, I did sleep max instead.

Catch ya later!

Alisha

Hey girls!

Guess what? I won a Shiva Rea 3-pack today! Woo-Hoo! Can't wait to get it! Maybe my luck is starting to change!
