Jogglers September

Tricia ~ I did have my sister place it initially but when I switched from my toes to my knees, I did it myself. I got into a table top position and put it on that way. It wobbled a bit but then it was fine. This was a really fun workout. If I had more time I would have done another round. The driveway runs and walking lunges were killers.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

Alisha ~ The brownies sound really good!! The plate was 10 lbs. Come to think of it I could have used my weighted vest but using the plate was different though and I'm sure has some sort of stabilizing effect.

Here's my workout for the day.

4 Rounds
45 seconds work
30 seconds rest
KB clean + Front Squat + Press
Then
Three Sets
6x each of the following
Tricep Extension
Bicep Curls
Bent over rows
Upright Row
Push press
Then
10 Pull ups
20 Box Jumps
30 KB Swings
40 Ball Slams
50 Sit ups
Then
Run around the block (approximately 600m)

I tried to go heavy on the second section using 20lb dumbells. I had to go down to 15lbs on the the Push Presses and upright rows.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Hi ladies,
Last night I did PUB and this morning I did yoga and Bum Bum. Next up is Dog Walk Max. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself for three days in a row. Usually whenever I have a three day weekend I go somewhere but everywhere I want to go is 7-8 hours away so...

Everyone in Hatteras is fine just soggy and wet. There was some water damage but the wind doesn't seem to have been too bad. Thanks for the well-wishes!

Lisa

Alisha - I'm baking brownies today, too! I have been having a craving. Probably no workout for me today. I'm supposed to be on a rest week. The HA appears to be a non-issue today, but I still don't feel 100% It's been a weird week.

Jane - I'm not sure I have the flexibility to place a weight on my own back, but I do, now, have the weighted vest, so I can use that! I like your workout for today, too! I downloaded that free KB workout that was posted in OD forum. I do plan on getting some at some point, so it'll be nice to have a workout to start with!

Hi Lisa! Again, I'm glad Hatteras and everyone there fared so well!

I have got to get my food intake back under control! I have been so far off the charts lately. I don't know what's wrong with me besides letting my DH influence my eating habits a lot. I'm not putting this on him. It's my own weakness. I could say no thanks, let him have what he wants and grab something out of the fridge, but I haven't been. That has got to stop, especially since I'm not planning on workout out much this next week! Salad time!

Hi Cindi! I hope you are doing well!

Good Morning!

I ran 10.2 miles this morning!!! What a difference the weather makes. Last week I could barely get through that 10.5K race and this morning it was so much better. It was about 10 degrees cooler with the humidity about 15% less than last week. Let's be frank....I did some walking but for the most part I felt really strong. My sister who is usually lagging behind me at the 5 mile mark kept up with me the whole way. I wanted to stop at 9 miles but she said lets just keep going.

Lisa ~ Enjoy your 3 day rest. You'll find something to do.

Tricia ~ My biggest struggle is food too but for the most part I have it under control. The hard part is when I'm stressed or at mom's house. I give myself one cheat meal or snack a week and will factor in "free eating days" which are usually holidays or birthdays. Tomorrow is a "free eating" day!! Yay!!

Hi Alisha and Cindi!

Jane - Congratulations to you and your sister on the 10.2 mile run today! WTG! I'm glad the weather was more tolerable. That is always a strong factor in how well I run.

I've been getting too comfortable being at goal weight, I think that's got me splurging more often. I'm going to get myself back on track tomorrow! Promise! I made brownies last night, so I'm giving myself a little leeway today. I have had 3 rest days and am sleepy, napping and falling asleep at odd times. I don't think rest days and I get along very well! I feel like I should be doing something! I'm going to run tomorrow with DH. He needs to do a long run, so I'll go along with him for about 2.5 to 3 miles and loop back around and let him finish his 20 from there! I'll take 2 more rest days after that and do my interval run on Thursday. I'll get back into my regular workout schedule again next week. I just can't make myself do "nothing" for a full week. Yes, we're going rock wall climbing this afternoon, but it's not the same!

Anyway, we're enjoying some lovely fallish weather today. Breezy and cooler! Love it!

Hello Lisa, Cindi and Alisha!

Hi everybody!

I'm probably going to do a Kb/Hi Lo workout using CTX segments later today. We are going for lunch at Sizzler, I'm planning on getting Salmon and broccoli.

Its ttotm and I'm just so tired. I will be spending the week kitten sitting for a friend. They are blue eyed siamese. Luckily they are on canned food now so I don't have to bottle feed them anymore. I plan to take my study books with me and get plenty of brain work done. Of course, I will be coming home during the day and editing away.

I will catch personals tomorrow,

Alisha

Hi ladies!
I've kept myself busy by walking the dogs and ignoring what needs to be cleaned in my house :)

Today I did Supersets. I used to hate Supersets and I wasn't going to do it this morning but I haven't done it in forever. Anyway, I didn't hate it this morning and realized that I like the biceps work in it so I'm going to try to do it more often. I also did 15 minutes of BBL inspired bandwork (I let Coach Sean count - I played PUMP and just did band exercises instead of what he was doing). Then I walked the dogs. We went on a ramble up in the woods and then went to the orchard. There is so much going on at the orchard this time of year that I keep them onleash there so I wanted them to have a little off-leash ramble first.

Yesterday was kind of a rest day - I did Namaste yoga, Shimmy and a 2 mile doggle. I was moving but there wasn't a "real" workout in there.

Alisha - I hope you feel better soon. The kitties sound adorable.

Tricia - Eating right is so hard for me too. I was eating a LOT, compulsively last week. I'll get in the habit of doing that for a day or two and then its like I can't stop.

Yogi Tea makes an herbal tea that's called Healthy Fasting (it used to be called Dieter's Tea I think). I bought a box and last week I brewed some in the morning and drank a little cup each time I thought of eating (even though I wasn't hungry) and it really helped me break that cycle. It has stevia leaf in it so it is slightly sweet even though it is non-caloric. Saturday I didn't have any tea at all and wasn't hungry outside of meal times. I am very prone to emotional eating and breaking that habit can be so hard. If I can be good for a couple of days it will start to stick though.

Jane - The weather makes a huge difference! I melt when it's hot and humid. Nice job on your run.

Hi Cindi!

Lisa

Hi Ladies!

Alisha - Hope you get your energy back soon! That was my week last week! Enjoy kitty sitting! Siamese are such beautiful and intelligent cats!

Lisa - I'll have to try Supersets. Haven't done it yet, not sure why. The name is kind of intimidating, maybe! My eats will be better! I promise! Today was my last splurge day, although, it wasn't as bad as Saturday! It's catfish filets and sweet potato tonight!

Back to work tomorrow! It makes life easier (at least the eating part)!

Hello Jane and Cindi!

Hope everyone has enjoyed their Labor Day weekend!

Hi Ladies - I'm done splurging too! Last week was TTOM and for some reason - I just wanted some junk food. Sometimes I think I need to have the junk to get the cravings out of my system and now I can get back on track. I'm up to 156 and want to get to between 145-150. I can get to 152-151 pretty easily, but getting 150 and maintaining is hard. BUT I will say I think STS is helping because my clothes are loosening up even though my weight is up a bit. I'm very sure I'm retaining some water from the DOMS - I feel like a weight drop is coming. Just need to help it along now.

Friday was a rest day, Saturday was back and biceps, Sunday stationary bike, Monday Spin class, today - week 2, Meso 2 begins.

Jane - great job on the 10 miler - I love running in the cooler weather. I'm bummed I'm not out there myself. I can't imagine putting a plate on my back - I have used the weight vest before and it's HARD!!!

Alisha - Hope you are feeling rested. Those kittens sound so cute!

I have supersets too but I don't think I've done it either - I need to stop buying workouts - I have way too many.

Last night we had friends over - another couple and their two kids. I grilled salmon and some local made lamb brats with sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese. I also grilled lots of summer squash from the CSA box and made a salad with CSA arugula, greens, and some tomatoes and basil from my patio along with some mozzerala from the store. I just mixed some olive oil and balsamic and pepper for the dressing. SO good!

Here's my beef though - this family is so picky - they kids and husband barely touched the vegetables and salad and the mom brought her own chicken to grill because they wouldn't eat salmon. Who doesn't eat salmon?! (except vegetarians of course). It was fresh, wild salmon from whole foods, super yummy. The mom and I are good friends but this food thing always comes up when we get together, they are the most picky eaters ever. My kids will eat almost anything. (RANT OVER).

David won first place in his group at a local Table Tennis tournament Saturday. That was very cool!

OH! And we bought a new car yesterday. Honda was having a great deal on 2010's. We have a new minivan (not the most exciting thing, I know). Here's a strange thing about my DH and me. I refuse to participate in the car buying process. I hate shopping for cars - yet the new car is my car. DH wanted to get one so I just sent him to the dealer and let him pick out whatever he thought was right for us. So I'm picking up my new car Wednesday and I've never seen it. :) My friend (the one mentioned above) thinks it unimaginable that I would hand over car buying 100% to my DH. She and her DH buy their own cars without consulting each other - which I think is kind of the other extreme.

But I trust my DH 100% when it comes to cars - he's very interested in cars and knowledgeable, and I just don't care what I drive, so why not let him handle it?

This morning I did CC V4. Tonight is puppy class.

Tricia and Cindi - That's so funny. I don't have a single workout that I haven't done. I have some that I've only done once or twice but I don't think I could stand to have one and not do it at least once.

Lisa

Tricia- I can't blame you, I hate car shopping too. I have put off buying a new car for 10 years. I know its time, but bleh! I have settled on a new Rav 4. Of course, what I really want is an old muscle car to fix up but I don't have the money. I was thinking purple flames for a long time but now I'm leaning towards a gold flecked paint for the exterior and a shimmering pink interior. Ever watch "Pimp my ride"? Thats what I wanna do. and of course more horses than you can shake your reigns at:D

I did that CTX kb last night. Today will be the CTX step segments including the 10 min. from 10-10-10, All Step and Step/Intervals.

Hi everybody!!!

Hi Ladies,

I am taking a rest day.

Alisha ~ I love Siamese cats. We had one that would roam the neighborhood and eventually would just hang around our house. He would sit on the back step and meow until we came outside. Once my sister let him inside and from then on, he would wait until we got home and then sit on the front step until we let him inside. He would only go to the room where my sister first took him. They are so beautiful and vocal. I miss that cat so much and he wasn't even mine.

Cindi ~ I wish I lived closer to you, then your DH could pick out a car for me. I'm not picky about cars. As long as they are reliable and get me from point A to point B then I don't care what they look like.

Lisa ~ Have fun in puppy class.

Hi Tricia!

Hi everyone!

Cindi - I made my best progress with STS and can't wait to get back on it! Congrats to David on his win! You know, I was always a picky eater as a child, but I was never allowed to bring my own food nor would I ever consider doing that as an adult, even if it's family. It's rude. Just the way I was brought up, I guess. I would eat what I liked and just not serve myself any of what I didn't. Ooh, new car! Nice! Enjoy! I would trust my DH to pick out our new care too, but we always do all of the big things together.

Lisa - Vol 4! Cool! Enjoy puppy class! There are just a few I have that I haven't worked out with yet! Remember, I got all of Cathe's digital downloads at the same time, so it is taking me this long to get through them all! LOL!

Alisha - Enjoy CTX!

Jane - I hope you had a good rest day!

I'm off of rest days, but couldn't get my butt up this morning. Sometimes, I'm more tired when I take a break! I'm pulling out Supersets tomorrow to give it a go!

DH started classes again this week full force! He started his Linear Algebra class at Harvard last Thursday, but this week he also starts all his BC classes. 4 nights a week again! Tuesday and Thursday he leaves around noon because his Harvard class is from 2-4:30. Sigh, all alone again with no one but puppies and a kitty to talk to. If I start woofing and meowing online, just throw something at me!

Have a great night everyone!

Good morning ladies,
I'm going to workout this evening. I'm going to do something full-body. I'm thinking a kb workout or Supersets again.

Tricia - I wasn't thinking about how many workouts you got all at once and you started out with STS too. There are a bunch of people on the VF board that have loads of workouts they haven't done. I guess since I only pick up one or two workouts at a time, that's never happened to me. But I only have about a dozen workouts altogether anyway.

Jane - Enjoy your rest day.

You ladies are all way more laid back than I am. I like to pick out and haggle for my own car. I hate it when I take a guy with me and the salesman spends all his time talking to a guy who isn't actually the person who is buying the car.

Lisa

Attack Cats from Outta' Space

Training kittens not to shred your legs is a workout. At 2 am. And 5:30 am. It just takes a water spray bottle, they hate it and it doesn't hurt them at all. I love non-destructive constructive criticism.

I did indulge in some chocolate covered almonds. They were good. I have decided not to have anymore. Also, I did real well last night at the grocery store. I looked at the ice cream and decided to skip it. Phooey. Don't need it. I did make a batch of home made chili with black beans, a few golden raisins, and garbanzo beans. It was really good. Also, since I'm staying over there at night I bought some tilapia and shrimp because I will be eating with the kitties, I'm sure that will make me real popular.:p I see kitty kisses in my future.

I did that CTX step workout yesterday. It was a good 550 cal. burn. A real sweat fest. I will take today as a rest day. I could be doing some video editing but I was just too tired. I do plan on doing dishes before heading over to feed the kitties. I hope its less smack down tonight. It looks like thunder storms today. It feels like fall.

Lisa- I hate when the salesmen sells to my brother, but at least my brother is real cool about it and says, "well you should ask her cause its her car." That said, I do have one brother who gives his blessing because he is an electrical mechanic at Serramonte Ford. I have seen him sit down in a car without cranking it and give a diagnosis, its like he is the car whisperer or something.

Tricia- have fun with SS.

Jane- The siamese are an interesting breed. The one's I'm babysitting have blue eyes, two are seal points and one is chocolate colored (not covered, do not take a bite.) The chocolate one is older and I think he is depressed because his companion died last year. I try to give him as much attention as he wants.

Hi Cindi!

Hi Jogglers,

I am going for a 3-4 mile joggle this evening.

Alisha ~ Good job on skipping the ice cream! Who needs it is right! Give those sweet little kitties a kiss from me. Enjoy your rest day.

Lisa ~ Have fun with whatever workout you decide to do.

Tricia ~ Sorry you will be alone but at least you have all your furry friends to keep you company.

Hi Cindi!

Hope everyone is having a super duper day!

Howdy Fellow Jogglers!

I feel so much better, tired and sleepy from about 2 this afternoon on, but it was great to work out today! I loved Supersets!

Lisa - Enjoy your workout! I consider myself well-rounded that I've done most of Cathe's workouts in just under a year! LOL!

Alisha - Great burn! Congrats on passing up the ice cream! Yes, there shall be much kitty love in your future with that menu!

Jane - I hope you had a good run this evening! In the best words of Gloria Gaynor - "I Will Survive!" Woof! LOL!

Well, tomorrow is a run for me. I'm going to try to eek out 5 miles, but will be happy if break 4. It's staying dark longer in the a.m. and just don't know if I can find a way around to squeeze out 5. We'll see.

Oooh! My sweet potato fries are ready! Dinner time!

Hi Ladies!

Guess what I did...JOGGLED!!! Last night I decided to try out the heel, I alternated walk/jogs for about 30 minutes at the indoor track before spin class. No pain, no problem. I think there is hope for me! The indoor track is very soft so that helps I'm sure. I will try again next week before spin and see how it feels. I had no stiffness this morning when I got up. I'm not ready to try regular running, but I'm hopeful I can get back up to some mileage over the winter.

Lisa - and the worst thing is that I have more workouts coming! (Amy Bento's and Cathe's) I need to get myself better organized. Maybe after STS I'll just spend a month doing workouts I haven't done or can't remember doing.

The salesmen always spend all their time talking to the guy - which is why I'd rather not be there at all - what's the point. Pete's a salesman so he really enjoys the process - it's like a game or sport.

Alisha - Several years ago I had to travel to Finland monthly for work and for some reason - the only show on at night (when I couldn't sleep) was Pimp My Ride. So I watched a lot of episodes! When I was a teen, my older sister had a boyfriend who had his Cobra painted black with flames and a chain steering wheel - it was cool. Converse has flame shoes at Target - maybe you could get those. :) You are so sweet with the kitties - we used spray bottles of water too, good technique.

Jane - glad I'm not alone in the car buying avoidance. I feel exactly the same way - just get me where I need to go.

Tricia - Usually we work together on big decisions but the car thing I just don't want to be part of. When we bought our house, Pete was out of town so I looked at it, called him, and made the offer without him having seen it. Kind of strange but we are very aligned on most things. Hmm...Liner Algebra at Harvard sounds just HARD!
