Jogglers September

Hi Jogglers,

I forgot to check-in yesterday. On Monday I decided to stay overnight with mom because she wasn't feeling well. She is better now. So yesterday I did the workout I had planned for Monday.

Here is today's workout:
2 rounds of:
50 Ball slams
50 Swings
50 High Box Step ups w/weight
50 Jump Squats
4 Driveway Runs
50 Jump Squats
50 High Box Step ups w/weight
50 Swings
50 Ball Slams

Tricia ~ I forgot that you live close to a Punch Gym. You will get great instruction from them. Congrats on winning the Shiva Rea 3-pack! Maybe you should play the lottery!!

Hi Alisha and Lisa.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi ladies,
Yesterday I racked up almost 13,000 steps on top of my workout. This morning I did Bum Bum Rapido and High and Tight. Agility Class Max (aka Keeping up with the Blue Bullet) tonight.

Jane - Hope your mom feels better soon.

Cindi - Enjoy Denver.

Alisha - I'm confused as to how the Leslie Sansone walking workouts work. Can you enlighten me? Do you walk in place or what?

Tricia - Woo hoo! Winning things is so much fun.
Lisa

Lisa- yes, the Leslie Sansone is walking in place, side to side, kicks, some upper body movement, forward 4 and back 4 counts.

I went for a joggle this morning. Tonight I have a photography seminar down town. Tomorrow the dishwasher gets fixed.

Tricia- Congrats on the Shiva Rae win! She is awesome!

Jane- I hope your Mom feels better soon.

Cindi- I hope you have fun in Denver, that seems like such a neat place, I have only ever been to the air port on a lay over. They had a really cool jewelry shop with Native pieces for sale.

Jane - Great workout! I'm glad your mom is feeling better! Playing the lotto has crossed my mind . . .

Lisa - 13,000 steps! Awesome! You'll get a lot more in at agility training!

Alisha - Hope you had a good joggle! Ugh. Dishwashers. Mine's been out of commission for over a year now. Need a new one, but all the expensive stuff is on hold.

I got me some bad news today. Sunday my back started hurting really badly. I have this knot under the right shoulder blade that acts up now and then. It was so bad today, I called my MD. Muscle spasms! Rx for Ibuprofen (of course), muscle relaxers, PT, I have to ice it and, worst of all - NO EXERCISE FOR 2 WEEKS! What in the world am I going to do? She even said I shouldn't run, but I can't see that being a problem.

Thoughts, ladies?

Ok...just to set the record straight....that "BEAST" workout was insane. I only did 1 round. I was dying. How could anyone do 2 rounds!

Tricia ~ No workouts for 2 weeks. Yikes!! I've never had back spasms before but I could see where running might be bothersome to it. A couple of years ago I had a knot or something in the upper blade of my back. I still worked out but it did hurt when I ran. I would take a week off and see how you're doing. If it feels better then start walking and see what happens.

Alisha ~ Good job on the joggle. Mom is better although now she is having back spasms. Must be something in the air on the East Coast. She has them from time to time.

Lisa ~ 13,000 steps!! You rock!!

Hi Cindi ~ Hope you're not working too hard.

Thanks for your thoughts Jane! Yes, there must be something going on over here! I hope your mom's muscle spasms clear up quickly! I've been dealing with mine since Sunday, but most often they ease off on their own! This time, it just kept getting worse! I will give it a week! Sigh, and tomorrow morning I was going to try out that cool heal lamp Cindi sent me! Bummer.

Tricia I hope you are feeling better. Why can't you run? Maybe you aren't supposed to run with your medication?

I don't think I would follow that advice, I mean, two whole weeks? No running? I might go nuts.

I may take today as a rest day. The dishwasher guy is supposed to come over this afternoon. I have a audio club mtg. tonight.

Jane- I hope your Mom feels better. I wonder if an epsom salt bath would help her.

Hi Cindi and Lisa!

Alisha - I know, right? I'm going to try to stay off of everything until Monday and see how I feel. I may start running again next week. I have to see and I want to ask the PT about it as well. The doc said that I would still be using my back muscles when moving my arms during running. I don't think regular docs know what they're talking about when it comes to athletic people. I'm seriously considering getting myself a sports medicine MD!

Hope they fix your dishwasher today! I spent 4 hours sleeping on the couch today and completely missed lunch! I'm so stinking out of it! It's a good thing I didn't go to work! I think I would have crashed the car!

Hi Everyone,

Here is my workout for today. This was an interesting little experiment but I liked it. Short and sweet but hit every muscle in the body.

Complete as many reps/rounds as possible in each of the 6 rounds
One minute rest between rounds
6 minutes of 2 driveway runs/10 Squat Thrusts/15 H2H Swings
5 minutes of 6 bicep curls/6 back rows/6 upright rows/6 Squat to a Push Press
4 minutes of 10 Squats/6 Push ups/6 Renegade rows
3 minutes of Jump Rope
2 minutes of Walking Lunges
1 minute of weighted sit ups

Alisha ~ Mom is doing much better today. Last night she took a pain killer and the spasms were gone within 2 hours. She spent most of the day napping but no back pain. Yay!!

Tricia ~ I would just use what the doctor said as a guide. You know your body best. Are you feeling any better or just out of it from the meds?

Hi Lisa and Cindi!

Jane - I tried to go without the muscle relaxer late yesterday and was in some significant pain, so I took one before bed. I"m staying home again today hoping that not leaning over my desk all day for 2 days will help it ease off. I must schedule a PT appt today for next week! I'll probably sleep half the day away again, but I guess that's good for me.

Do a little workout for me today!

Hi everyone!

Hi ladies! I'm back from Denver. We had really good meetings all week - very productive when you get to be with your teammates in person rather than over the phone all the time. We were out in Highlands Ranch which is outside the city and the view of the mountains was incredible. Coming from the prairie - it seems surreal.

Tricia - oh boy am I sorry to hear about your back pain. I have recurring back pain myself. Right along my right side, middle back, bad knots. I refuse to go to the doc for meds but here's what I do...

- I find exercise helps relax the muscle so I do run (when my heal is ok) and don't have any pain during my run. Also cardio that uses a lot of arm movements helps me with range of motion through my back and feels good. You might want to experiment a little bit and see what feels good to you.
- I avoid back work with weights - DOMS can make it worse. I also avoid strenuous yoga or pilates and ab work.
- One stretch I do which was recommended by a chiro is to lay on your back, bend one knee and let if fall over the other leg so you have that spinal twist (look up or to the opposite hand) and stay there for up to 20 minutes. I was doing a lot of stretching for my back and my doctor said sometimes it can cause the muscle to spring back tighter, but just laying in this position for a long time gave the muscle time to really relax.
- Rubberband ball! I put a rubberband ball behind my back in a firm chair and roll it against the knot. Tennis balls are a little to soft - the rubberband ball is very firm and the texture keeps it in place. It is my best friend on long car rides. :)
- Finally - have you tried the Miracle Ball method? love it!

I hope you feel better soon!

Hi to everyone else, have a great Friday!

Thanks for the tips Cindi! I'll try that! Anything to get myself back out there running! I'm so brain-mushy right now! I should be sleeping.

TGIF!

I am taking a rest day today. Tomorrow I'm running in a 5K race that is being held in a Plantation. I did this one last year and they messed up the course and it ended up being closer to 4 miles. So hopefully they got it right this year.

Tricia ~ {{{HUGS}}} I'm thinking of you and sending you lots of healing vibes. Hope your back gets better soon.

Cindi ~ Welcome back! I'm glad your meetings went well this week.

Hi to Lisa and Alisha.

Hi ladies,
I'm crazy busy. I didn't workout yesterday but am walking tonight and will workout when I get home. I had to travel for work yesterday and today and teach a morning class tomorrow. I have one of my old foster dogs staying with me for the weekend. I am also pulling a dog tomorrow that will transport to the NE next weekend.

Tricia - I'm sorry your back it still hurting. I hope it feels better soon.

Cindi - Glad you had a good trip!

Jane - Good luck on your race tomorrow!

Hi Alisha!

Lisa

Hi everyone!

Jane - Have fun on your 5K tomorrow! It sounds like it'll be a beautiful run! Hope the weather is nice - not too hot or humid!

Lisa - You sound very busy! That's a good thing, right?

Thank you all for the healing energy/wishes! I have a PT appt. Monday on my lunch break. I hope I can talk them into the electro-pulse treatment. This is so deep, I really don't think traditional therapy will help much.

I received my package with the Shiva Rea DVDs. I got Beginner Flow Yoga, Radiant Heart Yoga, and Yoga Trance Dance. I can't wait to try them! I wonder if it would be okay to do some of it over the weekend? I mean how bad could it be?

Jane- Have fun at your 5k!

Tricia- I hope your back feels better soon.

Lisa- I hope that your busy day has been a good one.

Cindi- What a great location for meetings. You know when I was a kid the girls used to play MASH at the lunch and I always put Denver as one of my fantasy cities.

I did Athletic Step today. It was more rigorous than I remembered from the preview. Talk about sweat o matic!

Yesterday I went for a jog/hike thingy. Today is a rest day. Since I did the personals later, I will catch you gals tomorrow.

Have a great Sunday sunday sunday!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did my 5K run. It was a good run. It was a little humid but not overly hot. The course was mainly dirt and shady which was good. I ran this race last year but they ran us the wrong way and we ended up running more than a 5K. This year they got it right. It was a pretty run. There were even a couple of horses (Lisa, I thought of you).

I took a rest day today. It felt weird but really nice to sleep in on a Sunday for a change. Next week it's back to my long runs.

Tricia ~ Hope your back is feeling better.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Alisha - Glad you had a good joggle-hike-thingy!

Jane - Glad your 5K went well!

I did the first 3 of 5 segments of the Shiva Rea Yoga Flow for Beginners today! It went well. I was able to do all the poses to some degree without any struggle. I stopped after the flexibility one. I had done 46 minutes. No increase in pain in my back and neck, but it still hurts. I have to go back to work tomorrow, but at least I start my PT! If that doesn't help, I'm breaking down and paying for a deep tissue massage!

Hope everyone's weekend was nice! We got hot yesterday, but it has cooled off a bit again!

I'm going to try to do floorwork and abs from B&G tomorrow morning.

Hi guys -

Workouts are on track, but my dad's having some serious problems in the hospital. He's bipolar and was having trouble with his medication so he checked into the hospital a week ago Saturday and seemed to be improving. But this Saturday - early in the morning - he had two full seizures and has been comatose since then, on a ventilator. Mom's meeting with the neuroligist today - not sure what he will say. :(
