husband appreciation thread

Kate,

It's so refreshing to see this thread.

My husband and I got married over 17 years ago. His late wife died of breast cancer. He put my daughter through college. Even when there was a little inheritance that came from his mother, he divided it up to include my daughter. That to me was the most awesome thing anyone has ever done for me. An opportunity for my daughter to have knowledge, therefore a better job, therefore a better life. You can't get better than that.

I love reading these! There are truly some great guys out there. How lucky are we to have snagged them...;)

So I was about to post my list of things that DH does that I appreciate when my phone rang (it was DH) and I realized there is one thing that he does for me that I appreciate the most: after being together for 20+ years, he still gives me butterflies in my stomach on a daily basis.

When I see his phone number on my phone display or I hear his truck coming down the street I feel like a giddy 17 year-old again!

melissa, i LOVE it when mike calls me in the middle of the day!:D:D:D
he's super busy & his phone *never* stops ringing....so when he takes a few minutes to call and say hello it means so much!

I love that my DH would rather be w/ us (me & our 2 kids) than anybody else. He calls me every night & tell me he's on his way home or that he's working late. He never complains when dinner is leftovers. He never, ever says anything negative about my body, my looks, my weight. He laughs at my jokes (which means he has a great sense of humor :D). He recently learned how to do car repairs because our DS (who has Aspergers) loves cars and this was something they could do together (even though he'd much rather take DS skiing, golfing, play tennis or go to a ball game but DS has zero interest in sports). He doesn't complain that I bought ANOTHER workout dvd when I already have more than I can use. He'll do dishes on the weekends w/o being asked and loves to cook. He makes me realize that I'm the luckiest woman on the planet to have married him 22 years ago. :)

My wonderful dh gets up on Saturday morning when one of our boys has a track meet & has to be at the school way to early to take them. Allowing me to get my wo in before we have to getout the door ourselves to be there & cheer him on. I do love that man! :D

Sounds like we all have great hubbies!

just wow

Ladies,

you do not know how timely this thread is for me.

It seems ironic.

I have just started divorce proceedings after being marreid 10 years, most of them unhappy. Reading this thread inspires me and confirms that without a doubt, I am making the right decision, and that there is hope and happiness out there. What I am reading here is what a partnership should be.

I truly thank all of you for your hearfelt responses about your husbands.......

For 21 years my Dh has told me I am the most beautiful, sexiest woman on the planet, even with 40 pound weight swings over that time.
He asks me everyday if I know how much he loves me...after 21 years...I'm finally getting it and it is truly humbling to be loved so unconditionally.....
and on a *my hero* note...he left work yesterday (40 minute roundtrip drive)to come home and rescue me from a trapped bird in the house...without me even asking!

Becky

This is a great thread.

MY DH and I have been together for 25 years. We lived together for 9 years and will be married for 16 years this summer. He is my best friend and biggest fan and supporter. He put up with me working 14 hours a day for 15 months when I was finishing my Ph.D. He does the grocery shopping, plans and cooks the best meals in the world, packs my lunch with fresh fruit and vegetables everyday, takes care of me when I am sick, and just generally spoils me. I can't imagine my life without him.

He tells me that he loves me every day. Our relationship is built on respect, love, and honesty, always.

i hope you find your prince charming

He's not my DH, but my boyfriend is pretty special. He cleaned my gutters for me, pulled out a dead bush from my back yard, installed a new mailbox and I didn't ask him to do any of this. When we go shopping, he picks out stuff for me to try on which is great because I hate picking out clothes. When I was trying to decide between two coach purses, he told me to get both and he bought one of them for me. He puts up with my moods, he loves my cooking, thinks I'm beautiful and he works out with me. What more could I ask for (except maybe a ring)? ;)

Edited to add: Oh and he always does the dishes after we eat - tells me to go relax while he cleans since I cooked. I love that man.

My DH is the best! I was diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer in February. He was a wonderful husband before, but since my diagnosis I call him My Protector. He wants to be a part of every doctor visit, asking questions and taking notes He sits by my side at the 8 hour long chemo treatments. Will do laundry, dishes, grocery shopping and more. I couldn't go through this without him. He says he even loves bald-headed and all!:D

Agreed! (((hugs)))

I have to say, I am a huge sap, because this entire thread brings tears to my eyes every time I read it. :)

Another one for DH...last night I was on IM with my best friend who is depressed over her man situation, and DH got on with her and chatted with her and gave her his boy point of view and tried to cheer her up. I was so proud, he has such a good heart.

Boo-hooing,

Sparrow
