Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for October 2019

I am going to go do a workout of some sort. My physical therapist released me from physical therapy today so I don't have to go Friday. She had me do a few moves for strength and gave me suggestions to add to my list of PT exercises at home. She also talked to me about what I am doing for workouts and suggested as I can, I work on upper back strength. So, I can gradually get back into things. I did not feel any pain this morning :)

Debbie, one thing about it, now they have Tamiflu so if you do get the flu and go in early enough they can give you that and it expedites recovery. I think some of the flu viruses are worse than others. Although every time my husband would get it he would be shivering like crazy from the fevers. I always wonder about those who say they have the flu and they are still up and around. In my experience the actual flu knocks you for a loop for several weeks, even after the fevers are gone. But, if I thought I dared, I would skip the vaccine. If you have never had it then maybe you have a better immunity to it. There was a time when everyone else would get the viruses and I didn't or just had a mild cold here and there and I did not get the flu shots.
Nice work on toasted trisets today.

Belinda, my doctors office did not have the shingles vaccine in and I tried Walgreens and they were holding onto theirs for those that needed their second vaccine. So, I went to a small pharmacy that one of the Walgreens people told me about. I didn't even know it was there since it was off the main street. I love it. It is small, I went there for the shingles vaccine which they did have and my flu shot later. I will continue using them. They were on my Medicare Part D list with silverscript so I am pleased. Not that I get prescriptions often. Just my one arthritis one that I have cut the dosage in half on. I don't like the stuff. You might look for a pharmacy that is not the major ones or call and check before you go in. Although I called Walgreens and they said they had the Shingrix vaccine and then when I got there and waited forever they told me they couldn't give it to me as it had to be my second vaccine. I know what you mean about going stir crazy. I have missed my usual workouts the last couple of months.

Good morning! Today i am sore from yesterdays workout but feel great. I did Cathe Live, Cardio Boxing with Metabolic Conditioning and it kicked my butt! I used 1# gloves and 8# DBs in this workout, Cathe used 10's but i am too sore to use that weight so i went lighter. Workout was an hour and i burned 482 calories. I had to pause a few times during the cardio drills to catch my breath and i did have to modify or change a few exercises completely so i wouldn't hurt my back. It turned out to be a great workout. Average Heart Rate was 131 and max was 166. It is hard to get a high heart rate when you are tired, don't you think?

Debbie, nice job on the Toasted Trisets today, i like that workout as well. I agree with the flu shot, my dad you is very knowledgeable about nutrition and how the structure and the function of the human body works, say he would never put a live or dead virus into his body. Now, with that being said, i was going to do it for the first time ever this year because i got so sick last year. But, my dad says it doesn't allow your bodies immune system to work as hard as it needs to, thus making it harder every year to build up immunity to such viruses. I am not getting it, i will take a ton of vitamins and get good sleep. I do have to travel to Reno at Thanksgiving to spend the weekend with my son, and i am going on a plane, that scares me but it is only an hour flight. I was thinking about getting an infrared light to sit under this year to burn out any virus or bacteria. My son and i our going to get vitamin drips this year too, those really work! I am looking for a good used TM, i would love to get the one with the max trainer but the guy never emailed me back. Maybe it is gone already.

Doreen, sounds like fun riding bikes with your son yesterday. I love low max but could never get the hang of that workout. I wish i could because that looks like a real burner. I might try that step workout you posted last week but using 3 risers on each side to make it harder :)

Diane Sue, I am getting the Shingles vaccination when i get older, that is the worst thing ever. I had the chicken pox so bad when i was a child, the doctor said i am susceptible to shingles.

Roselyn, did you move over the weekend?

Belinda, way to go with the workout today! i am glad you could do something even though it was super lite. Baby steps.

BBL to read other posts. it is 90 degrees here today, i am dripping right now!

So, this afternoon I did Cathe Lite Body weight and Bands skipping the shoulder segments. Seriously, I don't think my bands or tubing would stretch far enough for overhead stuff anyway. I want to concentrate on the areas that are lacking more. That was 40 minutes, 192 calories, met 5.4 I also did Jane Adams 7 yoga practices for your day core flexibility, 34 minutes, 52 calories. Total time was 74 minutes, 244 calories. I also did a few extra moves from my PT exercises.

Today I did two fun workouts!!! First I did RAW Boxing & Drills. Love this one, I know it now so I can really work it. I wore my 2# gloves and really worked up a good sweat. Felt this one all over. Great workout. Then I did part of RAW Kickbox & Kettlebells and I really like this one too, I may do the whole thing on Thursday. The ab work is good so I really want to get an ab workout in. However, both of these workouts worked my waist really good. I was feeling it afterwards.

Boxing & Drills was 31 minutes, burned 233 calories, did 2691 steps and HR was 139/164. My HR felt much higher than that at times

KB & Kettlebells was 23 minutes, burned 150 calories, did 1532 steps and HR was 128/177.

Everytime I looked at my Fitbit during the workouts it wasn't showing my HR. I was getting pissed. It's been doing that a lot lately. I'm wondering if I need to clean the contacts that are on my wrist?

I'll be back later for personals. Have great workouts everyone!!!

I am going to play games with my friends today. Later I will do PT exercises. May be a rest day otherwise.

Debbie, have you tried shutting it completely down or rebooting it. I recently had to do a complete reset because it was acting up and then it wouldn't even turn back on. That took care of my problems. I always love doing boxing and drills. I am hoping it won't be too long and I can do her newest dvds that I bought. There is a kickboxing workout on one. The only thing I have tried is the Strong and Lean DVD premix of just lower body.

Belinda, I like using the weighted vest to up things a bit. Nice work.

Roselyn, nice work. Good Luck with the move.

Diane - I hardly use my weighted vest. I should use it more often. I did come in handy this morning. Have fun today.

Debbie - how long did you have the fitbit? Have you called fitbit? They are usually pretty helpful to solve the problem. When I still had my fitbit we had to call the customer service a few times. If you google it you probably find the answer online. My husbands Apple watch screen is completely dead. He only had it since christmas. He as an appointment with a Apple store on Saturday, they will run a diagnostic test. I am pretty sure they have to replace it.

quick check in, no workout today, it is my rest day. I have to take my car to get serviced and it needs to get in early so i can get it back today.

BBL to read your posts.

Back for some personals.

Belinda - Did you see your doctor about your finger yet? I looked back a the last few of your posts and I don't see you mention anything on it. If you did, what did he say? Glad you are able to get some workouts in, even if you can't lift heavy. Hope your finger is getting better.

Doreen - I love Low Max, I should get that one out again. Maybe I will. I miss doing step workouts like Imax and Step Blast, I just can't do all the intensity anymore.

Diane - So happy to hear you were released from PT. I hope that's good news and I hope you are feeling better. I see you are doing workouts again, so I hope it's getting better and better!! As for the flu shot, I think I'll just take extra D3. That seems to help me fight things most of the time. Plus I'm not at the preschool anymore like I was for the past 6 years. And other than sinus infections and bronchitis, I never got the flu and believe me, it went around every year. As for my FB yes, I turn it totally off a lot. I like to restart it here and there. Hasn't helped with this problem, though.

Jolie - Is the Cardio Boxing workout you did yesterday a newer workout from Cathe? What is the # on it. I might try it or at least view it. Sounds good, Hope you enjoyed your rest day! Your dad sounds cool! :)

Roselyn - Have fun moving. I don't envy you! LOL!

Well, I am tired so I'm going to go take my shower and get to bed. See you all tomorrow!!

Belinda, having to make an appointment with the Apple store would be a good reason for me not to buy one. We only have one in our city and it is a pain. I have 3 weight vests now. The Cathe one that weights 20# and has removable weights to take it down to 12#. I recently purchased a 4 and 8# that are much more comfortable for cardio. One has a pocket on it for your phone if you are wearing it walking.

Debbie, I have had to look on the Fitbit forums to find help for some problems that I have had with my watch. Maybe like Belinda says, you might find something there.

Doreen, nice work with putting those together.

Jolie, I hope your rest day went well and your car was finished in time.

Debbie - I saw the doctor last Friday. The antibiotics didn't work, she took me off and gave me a very strong antibiotics cream for my finger. I couldn't see my doctor that day I saw another doctor, she was very nice. Got a call my doc a few day's ago, he wants to see me on Friday. Can't wait to hear what he thinks. My finger is still not completely healed. The swelling went down. My finger is still blue, still a little infected, skin came off. Compared what my finger looked like a few weeks ago, I think it looks better, lol. I can show you a pic, it doesn't look pretty

Diane - the Apple watch is under 1 manufacture warranty. They did gave us an option to sent the watch in, .Than you have to wait until they sent it back. The apple store can run the test. If the watch is broken (which we think) they have to replace it. DH got the watch last Christmas. We don't even have a Apple store near by, the nearest one is 45 min away. Since we going this way I will stop in Lidl and get my German bread. I only have Cathe's weighted vest. I hardly every use it, it comes in handy.

Have great workouts everyone!

Good morning,

I totally forgot to post my workout for today. I did Yvette Bachman 45 Min step workout. Fun workout.

Debbie - lol, I didn't think you wanted to see a pic :) Whatever this is bad. For the life of me, I can't figure out what got into my finger with all the disinfecting, cleaning my hands. I can't wait what my doctor thinks. I bought a few Vertical loading downloads. Which # is the one you did today? I love the looks of this one. Amazing workout and weights this morning.

I will be back later.

I'm at a conference in Chicago the rest of this week. This morning I did get up to workout. There are two separate rooms for the cardio machines and the free weights. When I first got to the fitness center the weight room was packed so I walked on the treadmill for a half hour until the weight room cleared out and then I did a Sydney Cummings hit strength for a half hour.

Good morning my friends! Do you sometimes just wake up, and even though you might be going through a lot of crap and stress, you just feel happy to be alive?! That's me today, i am feeling good, my body is feeling good and even though my son is a pain in the butt, we are all healthy! So it is a great day :)

Today i was supposed to do Cathe's PHA workout, i just couldn't because my legs are so sore from my last workout. I did a lot of inner thigh work and they are feeling it today. So i choose Upper Body Core Crush # 245 and had an awesome workout. This really does crush your core and upper body :) Workout was 1 hour and i burned 405 calories. The core and ab section is really hard and long, i will be feeling it tomorrow. I did not do the pushups or dips, instead i did chest press and kickbacks. I went heavy and i suggest this workout to anyone who has not tried it yet. I like her pace, she goes a bit slower which i like. 2 rounds of each Giant set.

Chest Press- 20's x 20, x 20
Close Grip Chest Press- 15's x 16, x 16
1.5 Lying Triceps ext.- 10's x 10, x 10
1.5 Chest Flies- 15's x 10, x 10
Kickbacks- 10's x 16, x 16

Upright Rows- 12's x 20, x 20
1.5 Shoulder Press Seated- 15's x 10, x 10
Rear Flies Seated- 10's x 16, x 14
Lateral Raises- 8's x 16, x 16
Hip Huggers- 15's x 16, x 16

1.5's Pullovers- 12's x 10, x 10
1 Arm Rows- 20's x 16, x 16
1 Arm Hortz. Rows- 20's x 12, x 12
Biceps Curls no band- 15's x 16, x 16
8 Point Curls- 12's x 2 sets
Hammer Curls- 15's x 16, x 16
I added on BB Curls- 25# x 16, x 16

Core and ABS

Debbie, great job on Vertical Loading, i love that workout as well. The Cardio Boxing and Metabolic Conditioning is workout #125. Its hard to find because she doesn't put Met Conditioning in the name on the screen, only to when you click on it. I like this one because it is a lot of cardio and i burn a ton of calories. I do substitute out quite a few exercises, like squat presses, Kettlebell swings, i use my step with 3 risers and do a lot of leg exercises like Yvette uses in her workouts. Even if i do squats, narrow stance squats, plie squats to an upright row, side to side lunges and things like that you will get a killer workout. Since i have been getting bored lately, i just spruce up workouts i have been doing with different exercises and it makes it new and fresh again. I hopefully will be getting a treadmill this weekend. I found a Sole on Craigslist and if it isn't sold i will get it. It is listed for $500 and is a year old. They purchased it for $1,200 a year ago. I am going to offer $400 and see if i can get it. I like it, it has a powerful motor and it has a longer running deck for taller people.

Belinda, great job on the Yvette workout today, i haven't tried that one yet. I have only tired the step with weight workouts not step by itself. What was your calorie burn?

Roselyn, good luck on the move and i hope you love your new house. Way to go in getting the workouts in. When did you start school, i bet you are close to finishing your hours.

Diane Sue, i am glad you were released from PT. I hope you are feeling better, i see you are working out more, are you feeling ok afterwards? I have an Apple phone and have had no problems but i know for a fact that Apple is a pain to work with on issues. i only have it so i can facetime my son in school since he has an apple too. I guess you have the watch? Everyone around here uses them.

Doreen, Have a good time in Chicago! At least you got to get on the TM, i know hotel gyms can get really busy.

BBL to read posts.

Today I did Jessica Smith Walk Strong and Have Fun: Steady Ready Go, 31 minutes, heart rate 143 average, 167 max, 3,192 steps, 208 calories. I then did Walk Strong Build Balance Inner Strength, 31 minutes, heart rate average 123, max 157, 152 calories, 1,531 steps. I finished off with 50 minutes of PT strength exercises, Yoga Tune Up upper body upper back segment, Jessica Smith YouTube stretch for stress, 101 calories, 233 steps.
Total time was 1 hour 54 minutes, 461 calories, 4,956 steps.

Belinda, at least you have something else to do while you get the watch fixed. I used to have a Polar watch that I had to mail to Texas to get the battery changed. That was annoying. Mailing and waiting on it to come back. Nice work on the Yvette step today.

Debbie, that looks like a good workout. I don't know if I have done that one or not. It has been awhile.

Doreen, that is great that you got your workout in while at conferences.

Jolie, I am doing pretty well with the workouts. I am still a little afraid of all out weight work yet. I kind of would like to get one of Jessica Smith light weight balance ones. She has one for posture. As it is I am using bands for what they have me doing for PT exercises. I am trying to form a tentative plan.

Jolie - I burned 393 cal. Not bad since I modified a lot of the moves. I liked the workout and the music was great.Great job on your upper body workout. I still haven't played with all the Cathe Live downloads I got the other day. Need to remember to use them. Maybe once I am done with the October rotation.

Diane - it's my husbands Apple watch. Mine works fine.Glad you enjoy Jessica Smith workouts as much as I do. Great job! I have JS Balance workout, hardly reach for that one. That's the one from Walk Strong 2? This one is more like a cardio flow. If that makes sense. More dance like. I think what you are looking for is her Rehap dvd from Walk Strong 3.

Doreen - great job getting your workout in.

Waving Hi to Roselyn, Doz and Roxie.
