Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for October 2019

Today I just walked on my treadmill. I keep forgetting to tell you all that when I did one of the Raw workouts last week (can't remember which one it was, I think it was Step Drills & Compound Moves), but she does something where you are doing a plank off the step and you go up and down from elbows to hands. Well, it pulled something in my traps and ever since I have been in some pain. I felt better yesterday so I did that Cathe Live workout and then at work I could hardly move my head. I'm better today but just walked so I don't irritate it anymore. WTH? Why all these muscle issues? It's getting old.

I walked on a 2% incline for 50 minutes, burned 318 calories, went 2.51 miles and did 6181 steps. HR was 118/135. So not bad.

If this goes to page 9, I did personals last night that is on page 8. Nothing much, but just so you know.

Jolie - I watched the news last night. The fire is horrible. I hope they get it under control soon. Lebron doesn't ring a bell at the moment. If he is a jerk, it's probably why. I agree no one deserves to live through this. I hope everyone is safe. I am so sorry what you are going through with your son. I really hope he wakes up on day and realize how mean he is too you (((HUGS))) hang in there, my friend!

I forgot to post yesterday. I did a Heather Robinson workout from YT - full body hiit but it wasn't hiit it was just metabolic in timed circuits.

This morning I did a 35 minute virtual active ride through North New Zeland (on Bitgym app) and then did a Heather Robinson kettlebell circuit for 10 minutes at the end.

Snowing here and we are supposed to get more snow tonight.

No workout today, my legs are so sore i can barely walk LOL! That workout yesterday kicked my butt. Also, my right knee is hurting from kickboxing i think, when i do front kicks it is sore afterwards. I did take my dog for a long walk this morning so at least i did that today. Some of these workouts are really hard on the body so i sometimes have to take a day off afterwards.

Belinda, my son is so immature for 18. He thinks he has it all figured out! He is clueless and doesn't even know it. Teens today! Nice job on Muscle Max, i haven't done that one in years! Cathe looks so good in those dvds, just WOW!

Debbie, nice walk on the TM. I think i found a good Nordic Track online used, it has a smaller engine and deck length then what i wanted but it is only $250 and it is a couple of years old and looks like it has really been taken care of. Hopefully the seller gets back to me so i can go and check it out.

The winds are up today so that is bad for the fire, but it is much cooler so that is a good thing. This is amazing how many fires we are having the last few years and in the exact same places?! I agree, i really feel for these people, i had to go through that a few years back and it was tuff.
 
This morning I did Walk Strong and Have Fun: Have a Ball, 33 minutes, 197 calories, heart rate average 135, max 158, met 7.6, 2,654 steps. I then did JS Walk Strong Build Balance + Inner Strength, session #1 core control 32 minutes, 163 calories, heart rate average 129, max 175, 1,479 steps, met 6.2. Total time was 65 minutes, 360 calories, 4,133 steps. I am going to do some foam roller and add more to my PT stretches. I did not include them this morning. No strength ones today as some of the moves in the Build Balance workout hits upper back and is similar. I don't want to over do it.

Debbie, I am happy that I can do more with workouts. I am mostly pain free. I keep having issues with the opposite side I was having therapy on. It is the side that has bothered me the most over the years and where the severe problem is with my neck. Also the same side they hit a nerve on with the biopsy I had several years ago. Mostly hurts in the neck and trap area. I am sorry you are having those issues. My trap area has been a big problem area for several years. The tightness and spasms irritate my neck problems and I get tight in my upper back. Trying to work on the inner muscles that support the others is difficult for me, but I am working on it. I hope that you can get past that. My other off and on issue is my left hip and low back area.

Jolie, I saw the fires on the news. Although they mainly talk about the stars homes. The smoke would be terrible and the fires frightening. It sounds like you need a rest day. I know how you feel about Lebron James. I am terribly sorry that your son is behaving like that. Obviously he is not liking his punishment. Maybe more punishment is needed for the disrespect so maybe he can learn some! This is a time when you are riding together that you should be able to talk. That is awful.

Doreen, nice work today. It is freezing here. Part of the state is getting snow. We are just going to get rain so far. I hope it clears. My husband and I have a road trip we plan on going on and spending the night on Friday night. I am hoping for beautiful days so I can get some pictures.

Belinda, I have not done Muscle Max in years. Nice work.

Jolie - I hear you on touch workouts. I do have to take breaks from high impact workouts from time to time. Nothing wrong with that. I hope you get the TM. Sounds like a nice one. Wished I had room for one. Maybe it's better I don't have room. I probably would start running again, lol. My knees can't handle the impact anymore. Kids are defiantly something these day's. Your son will figure it out eventually. Hopefully soon. Hang in there! You are not alone!

Diane - did you end up buying the JS Balance workout? What do you think? I would recommend her WS3 Walk Strong. The set is very expensive. She hasn't run a sale in years either. Great job!

Doreen - great job with Heather Robinson. I like her workouts. Haven't done her workouts in month.

Roxie - how are you liking the new BB workouts?

Belinda - Great job with Muscle Max. I used to love that workout and did it a lot. It's a tough one!

Doreen - Nice job on your workouts yesterday and today!! You always find some really interesting workouts to do.

Jolie - I hope you can get that treadmill. Good luck, hopefully you will get (or you already did) a call to go look at it.

Diane - I'm so glad you are feeling better, that is great news!! I don't usually have issues with my traps, this is just weird. But I know that when I did that elbow/hands plank exercise that my upper body did not like it. I should have just quit after the first rep but I kept on trying. Stupid. Oh well, it is feeling better but I'm not sure what I will do tomorrow. I don't want to lift weights just yet.

Roxie - Where are you girl? You usually post every other day but you haven't been on here in a while. Hope you are ok.

Roselyn - Do you like your new house? Hope your unpacking is going well.

DOZ - I thought you were going to start working out again. Where'd you go girl?

Glad that I ran to the store earlier. It is raining and so cold outside. Not sure how it will be tomorrow.

Belinda, I did buy the three workouts in this Walk Strong set. I would like to get Walk Strong 3, but it is way more than I want to pay right now.

Debbie, I have never had a problem with that move. I have done it on the step and other workouts where it was done on the floor. You really have to keep your shoulders down and back and watch hand placement though. If something feels too uncomfortable it is always best to just stop. I have learned that lesson too many times when I keep pushing on trying to get the move.

Roselyn, it sounds like you are well on your way with having things set up. I am sure it does feel strange.

Today was a bike workout scheduled on the rotation. I don't have one, ended up doing Cathe Cardio Fustion All Step Cardio Premix. Fun workout.

Debbie - I love MM too. I agree it's a tough workout. The ab workout in that one is no joke. great job yesterday.

Diane - I have all Jessica's Smith DVD's. You probably find something similar to her YT workouts, IMO! I prefer her YT workouts. I should run through them soon.

NO workout today, we lost power all night, such high winds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The fires are out of control, not by me, but the smoke is being blown my way due to the winds. We have power now but i am really out of sorts. I just saw on the news that the fire is surrounding the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley. I see that they have helicopters everywhere dropping water. I hope it doesn't burn down, it is such a beautiful place. My allergies are so bad right now breathing is difficult because of the dry air.

Roselyn, i know that moving to a new place feels so weird after living in a certain house for so long. I feel the same way, i just dont feel like i am home in this other house, probably because i am leasing and i know i will have to move again.

Today I wanted to lift weights but not upper body just yet. I decided to do RAW Lower Body (Pyramids) and had a pretty good workout. I went light because my traps are still sore and by the end of the workout they were feeling it.

This workout has 3 sets of each exercise in pyramid format but I only did 2 sets with each. 30 seconds each time:

Squats - 10's/12's/15's

Alternate Front Lunges - 8's/10's/12's

Deadlifts - 8's/10's/12's

Sumo Squats - 8#/10#/12#

Alternate Rear Lunges - 8's/10's/12's

Fun, quick workout. Next time I will do all three sets.
Workout was 35 minutes, burned 243 calories and HR was 136/178.

Then I walked on my treadmill for 20 minutes, burned 143 calories, went 1 mile and did 2400 steps. HR was132/180 but it never got up to 180. I think that was due to getting on right after my leg workout although I did stretch a bit before I did my walk. Weird.

Jolie - sorry you had no power all night long :( We are lucky if our power goes out it's never that long. I been thinking about you and my DH's cousin. She is in Lodi. Please be safe. I hope they get that fire under control soon. Did I read right? You may have to move again? I hope not.

Debbie - nice job on your lower body workout today. It looks great!

This morning I did Kelly Coffey Cardio Sculpt Overload premix Low Impact and Lower (this is all I have done of this since I got the dvd right when I was having so much pain) 28 minutes, heart rate average 141, max 174, 179 calories, met 8.6, 2,348 steps. I watched the compound and boxing portions when I was done. No way can I do some of those moves since there were some snatches and overhead presses. That will have to wait. She does boxing with light dumbbells. I then did Fit Split Low Impact Cardio timesaver, 28 minutes, heart rate average 134, max 182, 1,924 steps, met 8.0, 167 calories. This was 56 minutes, 4,272 steps, 346 calories. I also did some pt exercises and rolling with foam roller and therapy balls for 24 minutes, 33 calories. I forgot about the mountain climbers and plank walk in and walk outs to standing. I ended up modifying and doing something else part of the time.

Jolie, I am so sorry the air is so bad and you had no power. It sure seems like people would be so careful about things that would set off the fires to begin with since it happens so often. It is hard to think of a house as home unless you own it or have lived there for some years.

Belinda, I started out with some Jessica Smith on You Tube which is what prompted me to buy some of the workouts. I wanted something longer that did not have weight work on it to begin with. I still am awful careful with the weight work, but her pace is better than some instructors where you feel like you are in such a hurry with those weights and it is hard to keep proper form. I love that premix on the Fusion workout.

Debbie, isn't it amazing how the shoulders and traps start taking over even when you are doing lower body work? I have started noticing it more since all of this pt stuff. I like the Raw pyramid lower body. I watched the Raw 5 Day Strength day 1 back and biceps and wrote down the exercises, but decided I was not ready for that yet. Maybe soon I will be able to, but not as heavy at first.
 
Diane - are you looking for longer cardio like step or walking workouts? I been doing Jessica Smith workouts since she started on YT. Long time ago. I buy her dvd's to support her. Her workouts are free on YT. She had a baby last year. She still posting free workouts. She is amazing. I agree, her pace is slower than other instructors. If you like walking workouts maybe give Leslie Swanson YT workouts a try.

I did ICE Lower body blast plus about 6 minutes of the blizzard blast this morning. I use heavier weights than Cathe but love the lower intensity cardio blasts in this one. I need to pull out more of these workouts I haven't done in a long time.

I just finished my workout before I am heading to DC to celebrate my DD's birthday. Today's workout was Intensity Pyramid Lower Body. Great workout. Should pull that one out more often.

Doreen - I hear you on needing to pull out those dvd's more often. I am glad I am running through my Cathe workouts. Having lots of fun. ICE is on the schedule I believe next week.

Really sick of not being able to lift. Why won't this heal already? So frustrating. I don't get why it takes so long for my stupid muscles to heal. Is there something wrong with me? What am I lacking? I do everything I'm supposed to do yet it seems like I always have a pain somewhere. I've been using my therapy ball and foam roller for weeks now ever since my upper back had that knot in it. I still feel the knot and now my traps are tight. Not happy. Diane - I can only imagine how you felt when you went through your PT and all that. This is driving me crazy.

Sorry, just had to vent.

I walked on my treadmill again (boring). Did 50 minutes, burned 311 calories, went 2.5 miles and did 6084 steps. HR was 112/145.

Debbie - hang in there, my friend! It will heal eventually. I noticed the older I get the longer I heal from injuries. You are doing great with your workouts. Maybe your muscles extra time to heal. We workout through pain/ injuries you name it, a lot of time I think we just ignore our bodies when we workout, then it takes longer to heal instead taking the time/back off in the first place. Have you seen a doctor/PT? Maybe they can help! I know when i injured my back/PF/knee it took forever to heal. Hope you feel better soon.

Debbie - I agree with Belinda - healing just takes longer than we want!! Hang in there and keep moving as much as you are able.

This morning was Party Rocking Step #2 combos 1-4 and then Lite Cardio Part step bonus for 15 minutes. I made all the blast into low impact.
