Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for August 2018

Debbie, it takes awhile, but tastes can be changed. I am sorry you have been having internet issues. How relaxing can a stretch be when broken up with frustration. I use Google Chrome. I used to use Explorer, but it started not working well with a lot of things.
Kelly generally does not go heavy on impact and when added they are short bursts with lower stuff in between. Just step has very little impact. One section has some jump on and off the step. Sometimes if I feel it is too much OI just run up and step off. It is pretty low and makes a great cardio for me to go along with weights.

Today I went for a 6 mile walk, I had to get up a lot earlier for school starting today so it was cooler at this time of the morning and I went for it! Workout was 1 hour 54 minutes and I burned 829 calories. My feet are sore today, I think from the walking on the treadmill yesterday. Average heart rate was 142 and max was 187! I just about die going up the hills in the heat...

Debbie, I hope you get your issue with the internet sorted out before you have to go back to workouts next week. I hate having to fix an issue in the middle of my workout.

Diane Sue, DOZ and Roselyn, I hope you have nice workouts today. I will check back in later to read your posts.

Have a nice day.

This morning I did Cathe Live Mixed Impact and Bonus Abs, 42 minutes, 278 calories, met 6.9, 2,368 steps, heart rate average 130, max 168. I then did Cathe Live Power Step, 39 minutes, met 6.2, 267 calories, 3,357 steps, heart rate average 150, max 188. I really thought the calories should have been more based on the heart rate. Oh, Well! Total Steps so far this morning 6,466. Total calories 545, 81 minutes. The power moves on the power step were not knee friendly. I used a 6 inch step where they used 8 and it was not the height , it was the power push off moves that were starting to make my knee hurt. I started adjusting and modifying at the end.

Jolie, my feet get sore when I use the Tread Climber. I think it is the climbing and effort pushing the treadles. Nice work today.

back from getaway getting ready to do an insanity max 30

I was ready to go to work tomorrow but it is a holy day of obligation so church office closed i forgot so a nice surprise for me

Today I was able to do Kelly's RAW Run with Me workout without any problems. My DH and I worked on the issue last night and it seems to be fine now. I was happy the workout worked and it was a blast!! I loved it and I need to tell Kelly to do more of them. This is what I was asking of Cathe and to date, she has not done any treadmill workouts.

This workout is done tabata style (gotta love Kelly and her tabata!) and it was mostly sprints and she does 8 sets of 20 on/10 off. She would increase speed with each 8 intervals. Then she did some tabata hills and those were fun too. She also did squats and pushups but while she was doing that, I just did more sprinting. Very fun and sweaty workout. The tabata clock that she had was really cool and she had music working with it as well.

I followed that up with the Oxygen Ab workout I used to do back in the day. Love this workout and it makes me sore every time. I need to work on my abs more.

Run with Me was 40 minutes, I burned 352 calories, ran 2.68 miles and went 5459 steps. HR was 144/178.

Diane Sue - I tried Google Chrome and Mozilla and had the same results. My DH changed Flash Player to HMDI5 or something like that and that seems to have done the trick. I hope it keeps working. Is Just Step a DVD workout or RAW? Nice job on your workout, I hate when step workouts are so hard on the knees.

Jolie - Nice going with your walk - my feet hurt all the time. I have such bad issues with my feet it's a wonder I can walk. Hopefully my internet issues are fixed, but even if they aren't, the STS workouts are on DVD so I won't have a problem next week doing them.

Roselyn - Nice on the extra day off! That's always a great surprise!!

Have great workouts everyone!!!

No workout today, just a stressful day since the moment I woke up this morning. My son made it through his first day of school, stressed but he made it. Going to a new school is hard, making new friends ect. Today he was so stressed out he barely could get out the door. Then the text messages started, he was vomiting and sick to his stomach. After a ton of positive messages from me to him, I get a call from the school sending him home. I got on the phone an booked an appointment to have a doctor call me this afternoon to see if I can get him some anxiety meds to help him get through school this week. Not a great way to start off the school year! Needless to say, no workout for me, too many interruptions. This is so frustrating, I don't know why he just cant make it through school like other kids? I thought it was his learning disability causing this but I think it is anxiety. I struggle terribly with it lately, I end up in the ER thinking I am having a heart attack but in fact I am having an anxiety attack. I hope this gets better because there is no way I can home school him, we would kill each other! lol

Debbie, nice workout today, it sounds like fun!

I will check back later, my son just walked through the door.

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Athletic cardio and barbell, 32 minutes, 199 calories, heart rate average 119, max 156, 1,820 steps. I believe she is using around a 25# barbell. I used 30# throughout. I then did Cathe Booty Max Live, 54 minutes, 255 calories, heart rate average 109, max 140, 1,580 steps. I didn't care for this, not the most knee friendly workout. I keep looking for a lower body workout on live that is not high rep, pulses or cardio blasts mixed in. It stopped right on the last round of exercises. I tried to get it back and ended up finishing on my own. So, I did Coffey Fit Raw stretch, 29 minutes, 54 calories. Total time was 1 hr 54 minutes, 508 calories. Map My Fitness had Booty Max at 319 calories.
Coffey Fit Raw Athletic cardio is cardio alternated with barbell 40 on 20 off timed. I liked it. It does some olympic lifting style as well as things like bench press.
Booty Max uses a high step with 3 risers, barbell at 25# and later 45# and mostly 8, 12, and 15# dumbbells
There are 4 rounds 3 exercises repeated twice
rnd 1
barbell squat - Cathe 25# I used 35# high reps singles and low end pulses
static lunge 15# dbs 16 reps
side to side lunges 10# Cathe 12# dbs me
repeat
rnd 2 step ups on high step 3 risers 12# dbs 16 reps
plie barbell squats 25# Cathe 35# me first round 30# second singles and low ends high reps
leg and abbduction front swing 8# db high step 3 risers 16 reps
repeat
rnd 3(increase barbell to 40 or 45#)
high step 1 riser 12# dbs push dip 16 reps then 2 sets of 7 pulses
diagonal front lunges 12# dbs 16 reps
barbell deadlifts 45# barbell count changes but I think it is 14 or 16 reps
repeat
rnd 4
drop squats with high step and 3 risers 16 reps
barbell deadlift wide stance 45# again I think 14 and maybe 15 reps
crossback lunges 16 reps the 2 sets of 7 pulses
I missed most of the second round so did it on my own as it stopped during the last set of deadlifts. I noticed that when I tried to start again and it stopped there was some alternating crossback lunges on the second set that I missed.

Coffey Fit Raw is simple step moves and floor moves for cardio timed 40 on 20 off
strength moves are as follows barbell used I used 30#
shoulder press
lunge on step no weight
front squat
barbell curls
hang upright rows
clean and curl
push press
hang clean and press
bench press
remove step
squat thrust with barbell
barbell roll outs on knees
sit up side switches
crunches
feet on barbell hip lifts
push ups

Debbie, that is great that you got to do the Raw treadmill workout and loved it :) The Just Step is one of Kelly's Raw workouts. I like Kelly's Tabata style she does with her workouts.

Jolie, I am so sorry with the anxiety stuff going on . I have never seen a child that sick over going to a new school before. I always get headaches and shortness of breath when I am having anxiety over something. Just have to learn to relax and know that things always work out in the end and you wonder what you went through all of that worry for. Sending prayers your way. Get some relax time in if you can.

I had to go to work early this morning and I'm just now getting time to post my workout.

I walked on my treadmill for 20 minutes, burned 117 calories and went 2786 steps. Then I did Kelly's RAW Stretch workout and was able to do it all. I can't believe how tight my body is again. I need to keep this up, just wish I had more time in a day. Loved this stretch workout, she did great putting it together. I love her personality too, she is fun.

Diane Sue - I may do Just Step tomorrow, I have to find it first!! Great job on your workout yesterday! Looked pretty intense.

Jolie - Wow on your son, I hope he is better today. I wonder why he's having such anxiety over school? I hope things get better for him and for you, I know you are stressed out about this to no end!!!

Roselyn - Great job on your workout!

DOZ - Hope you are doing well!! Update us!

Today I had a great workout! I did Chest, Legs and some ABS. Same format for the week, 4 sets and the last set TF. Reps x 12, x 10, x 8, x TF Workout was 48 minutes and I burned 301 calories. It is so hot and humid today I just couldn't motivate myself to do my cardio for the day.

STS Warm Up Meso 2
Chest Press- 25's x 12, x 10, x 8, x 13 TF
Chest Flies- 20's x 12, x 10, x 8, x 14 TF
Incline Chest Press- 25's x 12, x 10, x 8, x 12 TF
Close Grip Chest Press- 17's x 12, x 10, x 8 x 14 TF ( this bothers my shoulder )
Leg Ext.- 50# x 18, x 16, x 14, x 13 TF
Stiff Leg Deadlifts- 40# BB x 12, x 10, x 8, x 13 TF

Today my son was so stressed again, it has nothing to do with school so much as anxiety in general. I think we have uncovered what the issue is with everything we have been dealing with over the past 10 months. Nick took 2 online summer classes for English and got an A and a B in the classes, that is awesome for him! I have decided to let him go to school on line this year instead of going to a school where he doesnt fit in. He wants to get a job as well so this will allow him to do so. This school is NCAA accredited so he can go to any 4 year college from here, they have a kid that just went to Harvard and one to The Navel Acadamy and so much more. He also finally admitted he has a problem and wants to go to therapy !!!!!!!!!! WE are meeting with an anxiety specialist tomorrow and that is the first step. I couldnt be more happy today! It has been so hard lately and I now see light at the end of the tunnel. The great thing is, the doctor said this will be something he can overcome and live a normal life! His confidence has gone down due to this and that is another part of the problem. He also found out that one of his best friends from childhood is going to the school as well. He only has to go meet with teachers once a week, go in to take tests and finals and do his science labs. It is 5 minutes from the house and it will be very convient.

Debbie, nice stretch!!!! I love when I take the time to stretch, it feels so good. I just need to do it, while watching tv at night is a good time i have found. My mother always says to me, "this too shall pass" and I honestly believe it. I am a person that never gives up and I will always find a way. My husband on the other hand is nothing like me and that is half of the problem.

Roselyn, great job on the workout!

Diane Sue, Nice workout yesterday. I will check back in to read your post later. Thanks for all the info on the Kelly RAW workouts. I have watched a lot of them on Youtube and they look like really good workouts.

DOZ, I hope you have a good workout today.

Have a nice day.

This morning I took my grandson to his first day back to school and came back to do a quick workout. I did Crush It Low Impact Live , 36 minutes, 200 calories, Fit Bit, 233 Map My Fitness, heart rate average 133, max 173, 2,681 steps. I will come back and read your posts in awhile. I ran to the bank and then the day just got very busy. My daughter was asked to come back to teaching. This was spur of the moment as school starts tomorrow. Her children have been home schooled the last 5 years. So, her husband got them registered for public school and she had to run to the school. I took care of the children. Took them with me when they picked me up to get my husbands range rover out of the shop. Then I took my granddaughter 10 to her intermediate school for meet the teacher day at 5. My other daughter watched the 4 year old at my house and made us all dinner. It was a very busy day. I will have to go shopping and do the other errands tomorrow.

Debbie, Just Step is easy to find on the Raw workouts. I always feel so much better after that stretch workout. That is why I keep using it. I grin when she makes the creaky noise when pulling her legs back in after all of the straddle stretching. Boy does things feel better after that and then you get more :)

Jolie, I am glad that you may be finding the problem that your son is having. If he is capable of making decent grades from home then he obviously does not have a learning problem. New environments are sometimes a source of extreme anxiety for some people. Dealing with things in more of a performance manner in front of others can be daunting. Hopefully this will help him and the therapy along with it. Has he worked a job before? Nice workout today.

Roselyn, nice work on RWH Lower circuit.

Today I did Kelly's RAW Just Step workout and liked it pretty well. It's been a long time since I've done a step workout and was worried about my knees but this workout wasn't to high in impact and my knees did well. It was fun, I liked the 3 different combos she did other than she truly starts on her right, which when I'm watching her is my left. That confuses me. I'm used to Cathe starting on her left so we start on our right side. Kelly is just cool, though, I really like her.

Workout was 30 minutes (I cooled down a bit longer than she did, workout was only like 24 minutes), burned 213 calories and went 2725 steps. HR was 130/181. Was surprised to see the 181 because every time I looked at my watch it showed around 108.

I also did Karen Voight's Yoga Stretch and my body is really feeling better after my short workouts this week and stretching. It makes such a huge difference and I get so mad that I just don't have time to do this every day. My body needs it and I really need to somehow make time for it. I feel great.

I bought a recipe book that looks awesome so far as I flip through it. It's called "Run Fast, Cook Fast, Eat Slow" and is recommended eating for runners. Not that I'm a huge runner or anything, but the recipes look so good. Only thing is they didn't include nutritional information. I wonder why? I hate recipes that don't show you that information. I can figure it out myself, but it takes time. Oh well, I think I'm going to like trying some of these recipes.

Diane Sue - Wow, you sure are busy with your grandkids, I don't know how you do it. Do they live with you? And how can your daughter be prepared to go back to teaching with one day notice? That is crazy!! Poor girl. Hope all works out for her. Great job with your quick workout!

Jolie - I think I'm going to try and do what you suggest, do some yoga/stretching before I go to bed. I have about 20 minutes while my DH takes his shower that I could do something. It's just getting off the couch when I'm half asleep that is the problem!! LOL! I hope things with your son settle down. Glad he is going to see a therapist.

Roselyn - Great job!

DOZ - Where you be?

Debbie, no none of my family live with me. In fact two of my children and their families live in other cities surrounding Oklahoma City. Nice workouts. I have done the step workout enough times now that the switch on sides is no longer a bit off to me. At the start I just kept moving and when I could get it down switched sides. Once I get the lead leg right I am good. The moves are not difficult. I have been so surprised at heart rates and steps with the workouts that feel lighter to me. Makes me happy though :) I know what you mean about the cookbooks not having the nutrition information in them. I have a large collection of Cookbooks in my Kindle App. Most are Keto and Paleo, Instant Pot Paleo and Keto, and a Couple of Athlete ones. Paleo seems to think for the most part that you don't count calories and so macros are often not listed. Particularly Whole 30 which I have 3 cookbooks from. It is much easier when I don't have to build the recipe in my fitness pal myself. Keto has a tendency to harp on protein and lack of carbs and net carbs I think some of them like that and Paleo are afraid they will scare people with the fat content.

Today I did Back, Legs and Biceps. I already did Biceps this week but they are lacking lately so I thought I would work them out twice this week. Workout was 46 minutes, burned 318 calories. I am so sore from yesterdays workout I had a hard time lifting today.

Underhand BB Rows- 55# x 12, x 10, x 8, x 13 TF
Wide Grip Pulldowns- 50# x 12, x 10, x 10, x 20 TF ( need to go heavier next time )
1 Arm Rows- 25# x 12, x 10, x 8, x 16 TF
Leg Curls- 22.5# x 12, x 10, x 8, x 10 TF
Front Squats- 15,s x 16, x 14, x 12, x 20 TF

Pyramid Upper Body Biceps- Hammer Curl superset to Traditional Curls
10# x 12
12# x 10
15# x 8
12# x 10
15# x 12

Debbie, nice job on doing a step workout. I could never get the hang of them, it always made me too dizzy. The cookbook you got sounds like fun. I love new ways of cooking food, i get in a rut and eat the same thing all of the time. Boring.

Diane Sue, nice upper body workout today. That looks like a long workout. You definatly hit all of the muscles.

Roselyn and DOZ, i hope you both have great workouts today.

My son Nick and i are going to the first football game of the season where he and his brother attended and played. A lot of his friends are playing so we thought we would go root them on!

Have a wonderful day.

Jolie, nice work on adding the extra biceps work to all of what you already done.

today was lift it legs looking at an yvette bachman for tomorrow, my daughter and future son-in-law have their bachelor and bachelorette parties, the girls went to the lake of the ozarks and the guys going to a Cardinals baseball game tomorrow, oct 12 will be here soon!!

This morning I did Cathe Live For the Love of Cardio, 44 minutes, 3,247 steps, 291 calories, met 6.0, heart rate 135 average, 159 max. I did this one the last time I signed up for Cathe Live and found I liked it. I followed this with Coffey Fit Raw Core Moves with the stability ball, 25 minutes, 83 calories, heart rate average 94, max 123, 215 steps. Total time was 69 minutes, 374 calories. We are having a triple family birthday here tomorrow after church :) I need to get some things done. I am not doing the food though as I am one of the upcoming and a few days ago birthday recipients.

Roselyn, yes, the wedding is right around the corner. It is hard to believe we are headed toward fall soon. I eye Yvette Bachman's workouts thinking I may like to try more. Those that use the step are pretty rough on the knees. I would like to do more kettle bell workouts. Kelly incorporates them in some of hers. She sticks with safer moves on hers.

Happy Sunday. Today I am tired but I got in the gym and ended up having a pretty good workout. I did Shoulders, one leg exercise and ABS. I went up in weight for this week and lowered the reps to 10. I did 3 sets with a 1 minute rest between sets. Workout was 41 minutes and I burned 229 calories. I was supposed to walk on the TM but my right knee is sore so I thought I better not and give it a rest.

STS Warm up

DOZ, i hope you are getting in some good workouts and enjoying your weekend.
