Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for August 2018

No workout today or yesterday. I did my colonoscopy prep yesterday and did Coffey Fit Raw stretch. Today was the colonoscopy this morning. It went well and everything is fine. This one was easier than the one 10 years ago. I got a kit called Happy Colon and the drinks were spread out over the day along with small low residue food throughout. I wan't starving quite so much. Today was my birthday and my daughter went with me for the colonoscopy as my driver. Afterward she took me to Panera for breakfast and coffee, then to TJ Max shopping and bought me a cute Calvin Klein purple dress and a long sweater with a black t shirt. Then she took me to Chili's. When I got home the florist delivered me a bouquet of purple roses and flowers in a purple vase. I love purple :) It was a fun day even though I had the procedure this morning. I will be back to eating normal tomorrow ;)

Nice workouts!!

Jolie, I will be glad when my flavored protein powder is gone, because I am going back to unflavored. That way I can flavor it however I prefer.

Today I did Cardio Coach 5 and had a puke status workout. I did really well with this workout, it was fun. I bought a pair of running shorts from Saucony and I love them!! I got them yesterday so just in time for today's workout. really made a difference, believe it or not.

Workout was 54 minutes, ran 3.89 miles, burned 493 calories and went 7867 steps. HR was 147/185.

Diane Sue - LOL! I give you credit for scheduling a colonoscopy on your birthday! Only you can turn a day like that into a good day! :) Happy Birthday!! Sounds like you had a great day. Purple is my favorite color as well!!!

Jolie - Great job with your workout! That is funny that you did back off sets. That is a fun way to workout. I'm shocked I'm not sore today. I'm looking forward to triceps and legs tomorrow.

Roselyn - What do you mean? I went up in weight from last week, so yes. Are you doing all of STS or just Meso 2?

DOZ - Where are you girl? Hope you are having great workouts. Miss your checkins.

Have a great workout everyone!!!

This morning I did Coffey Fit Raw Fitness Test workout, 38 minutes, heart rate 111 average, 144 max, 201 calories, met 4.8, 1,215 steps. I then did Coffey Fit Raw Bands and Barre, 35 minutes, heart rate average 111 , max 147, met 4.0 154 calories, 1,163 steps. I used 3# ankle weights and for the upper I used the Cathe heavy tubing and sometimes the addition of 8# dumbbells with the tubing. Total time was 73 minutes, calories burned 355.
Coffey Fit Raw test (34 actual minutes, but I paused a couple of times to write down the first round)

bench press 15# dumbbells 32,33, 25, 32, reps
push up 19,23,28,22 reps

Debbie, it is funny how new workout clothes can make us enjoy our workouts so much more :) I love looking forward to using new workout things whether it is clothing, workouts, or equipment.
Nice work on the cardio coach today.

Today I did Biceps, Triceps and ABS. I did the same format as yesterday incorporating Back off sets. I had a great workout. Workout was 56 minutes and I burned 313 calories. My left shoulder is still aching and so is my arm. I wonder if I have a small tear? It has been 8 weeks but its not worse, maybe it is a little better. It almost feels like my upper arm is out of alignment. I have to get it checked out soon. Now it is almost my bicep that aches. weird...

Diane Sue- Hilarious that you had that colon procedure on your Birthday, Happy Birthday! Great job getting in a good workout today, was your energy level low since you didnt get to eat much the last couple of days? I am glad that you had a good day yesterday.

Debbie, wow on the puke status workout! I love getting new stuff for working out, it always makes the workout a little better! Great job on the calorie burn, they have gone up lately. I am getting really strong again, i am supplementing protein which i was way too low in each day and taking BCAA along with all my supplements and some Nitrx Oxide. I am getting good pumps and my stamina and strength have improved quite a bit. The way I am working out lately is the best way for me to see results. I am ready to put some major muscle gains on this winter!

Roselyn, nice job on STS Meso 2.

Have a wonderful day.

Jolie, I ate plenty yesterday :D It made up for the two previous days. Saturday was low residue diet. Sunday was the prep which was way better with the Happy Colon prep kit as I got to space out the drinks, take senna tablets and there was some foods to be spaced out at particular times small servings like instant oatmeal breakfast, snack time two oreos, lunch an alfredo pasta, snack popped bbq ship bag, dinner broth, final snack two chips ahoy cookies, then final dose at 2:30 am of liquid. I didn't sleep much. They had a hard time getting me to wake up after they did the procedure LOL I was sound asleep. Then I was wound up last night. Probably the coffee yesterday at Panera along with kombucha tea. I started throwing in probiotics right away and I used electrolyte water to mix the powder in. I didn't use the sweet flavorings. I felt pretty energetic this morning despite lack of sleep last night. I guess the solid sleep at the medical facility did me good :) This was way better than the time I had 10 years ago with hours of no liquid or food at all. I went through prep a whole day and absolutely nothing till three in the afternoon the next day. I would never make that mistake again.
I had plenty of energy and contemplated more weight work, but since I am not sore anywhere right now and have plans for Cathe's 200 workout which I believe is 5 sets of 10 reps for each exercise or something like that on Wednesday, I thought I would not push much more than I did doing the test, which got hard by the time I got to the 4th round which at the start was unexpected.
I am glad the workouts and supplements are working well for you. I started some Cat's Claw today. Hoping to get some RA help with it and found it also helps digestive problems, and immune system. I read it is okay with the med I am taking from the arthritis center.

Today I did STS Meso 2, week 2 but just did Triceps. I decided to skip legs this week since my knees are giving me issues. I'd rather be able to run than squat heavy so I decided to hopefully give my knees a break and see if I can do next weeks leg workout.

1 minute between each set:
TRICEPS
Dips: 3 sets/12 reps - warmup
Barbell Triceps Extension: 30# - 12/10/8 reps
Barbell Triceps Extension Back off set: 20# - 20 reps

Side Leaning One-Arm Extension: 12# - 12/10/8 reps
Double Arm Overhead Extension Back off set: 8's - 16 reps

One-Arm Kickbacks: 11# - 12/10/8 reps
Double Arm Kickbacks Back off set: 8's - 16 reps

Had a good workout. It was a total of 30 minutes, burned 210 calories and HR was 131/157.

Hopped on my treadmill and walked up a 4% incline for 22 minutes, burned 127 calories, went 1.09 miles and did 2666 steps. HR was 97/123.

I see Kelly has a fitness test out on RAW. I want to do it!!!

Roselyn - No, I kept with the same weight until the drop off set. You're not supposed to change weights between each set with STS unless you feel like you can go heavier.

Diane Sue - Thanks for typing out the fitness test. I want to do this but not sure when since I'm doing STS. Maybe on the next rest week. Was it hard? Nice job with your workout!

Jolie - Nice workout yesterday!!! I know, I don't know what is up with my calorie burns lately. I went into Fitbit and adjusted my weight a bit, but I can't imagine it made that much difference, it was only a 2# difference. I'm liking it, though, I feel like I'm actually doing something!! How are your hot flashes lately? Mine are back in full swing again. I was good all summer and now it's back and they hit me every 20 minutes. Ridiculous, I'm so sick of it! And nothing seems to help anymore. :(

DOZ - Hope you are feeling better. I'm sorry to hear you are sick.

Have a great workout everyone!!!

Today I went for a 5 mile walk outside, 1 hour 35 minutes and I burned 748 calories. I am sore and tired so I decided not to touch any weights today. My legs are looking so much better from all of the leg work I do everyday!!!!! I haven't dropped any weight really but I look more ripped and lean. I will take it! I love my new protein drink I make every morning with my unflavored whey protein powder. I mix espresso with vanilla almond milk and protein powder and it is delicious! Sometimes I put a little caramel flavoring in it just because we are coming into fall and it tastes so good!

Debbie, I think it is a good idea to skip legs and run instead. It seems you are very happy when you get your cardio in so I wouldn't jeopardize those workouts with a leg workout. I am NOT having hot flashes at the moment!!!!!!!!!!!! They do come and go and I hate it. I just use my supplements and then they tend to go away after a few weeks. Last year was the worst for me.

Diane Sue, I want to check out the Cathe Live 200 workout! That sounds like a good one based on the rep range. I love those workouts, I am trying to cut down on my spending right now with a possible move in front of us. It is very expensive to move and we are really strapped right now with all of the car issues we have been having lately. I will probably sign back up later in the Fall and I look forward to all of the new exercises.

DOZ, I hope you are feeling better.

Roselyn, great job on the plyo leg workout.

Happy Wednesday!

This morning I did Cathe Live Triple Fit, warm up and step cardio only, 17 minutes, met 7.0 131 calories, heart rate average 137, max 164, 1,633 steps. I then did Cathe Live Get Steppin , 51 minutes, average heart rate 145, max 171, met 6.5, 366 calories, 4,764 steps. I finished off with Coffey Fit Raw stretch 28 minutes, 62 calories. Total time was 96 minutes, 530 calories. We have a lizard running around in our house and cannot catch it. Last night my husband saw it go into the vent on the front of the fireplace. Then it came out and started up the chimney, My husband couldn't catch it. Then it got on top of the shelving and went around the ceiling line. I wanted it out before bed as Gertie was going crazy over it. My husband sprayed it with flying bug spray. We thought it was left up there to die. Just before I went to bed, Gertie jumped up and went flying across the room and there was the lizard. I screamed and Gertie because I was afraid she would eat it after it had been sprayed. I put Gertie out and I never could find it again. It went under the coffee table and when I moved it it was gone. It blends with our wood floor. I wore shoes to walk to the bedroom. SO, it is still in here somewhere.

Debbie, I think you are wise to be careful with the knees for a bit. It will help since you will have the moves written down for the fitness test. My first round took me a bit longer as I quickly jotted the moves down. Also she starts out telling you there are 3 rounds and then during the 3rd round she says she is going to add another :) I told her I was starting to rethink the weight I chose when I got to that fourth round, but I made it through. She said that is the way it should be. I should do better next time :) I liked it. I don't know if I have adjusted my weight on Fit Bit or not. It has been long enough that I do not remember. I bet if I lower the weight I will get even less calories burned. I still get pretty lousy readings a lot. It can be weird though. Like today's where I felt the first step Hiit type workout with all of the impact was way harder and my heart rate was lower and calories than on the second workout. I guess I was well warmed up for the second one. Maybe your VO2 max has went up? That might make a difference. It does feel nice to do all of that work and have some sort of reward for it that you can see.

Jolie, I want to try and write down the exercises I will be doing tomorrow with the 200 workout. That saves me some time when doing a new workout. I detest the work of moving. We accumulate so much stuff and it is exhausting. I often mix some decaf instant coffee into my protein powder with coconut milk. I love it that way. The unflavored gives it sort of a creaminess. I do not like sweet drinks that much. a bit of fruit like a peach or half a banana once in awhile if I am in the mood, but that is it.

Roselyn, nice workout yesterday. I have not done that Plyo Hiit workout in a long time. I sort of have a dread of it. My knee usually hurts when I am done if I don't modify some.

Today I did a Cardio Coach mix using both of Candace's workouts. Wow, had a great puke status workout again. It was brutal but I did well with it. I am already at 10,000 steps for the day!!!

Workout was 57 minutes, ran 4.05 miles, burned 527 calories (holy crap!) and went 8186 steps. HR was 149/184.

Not sure why I'm burning so many calories lately. I'm liking it!!

So I'm looking into making my own recovery drinks and protein drinks without the powders I usually use. There is so much in this new cookbook I bought and they have all kinds of recipes for this sort of thing. Bad thing is the calories that go along with them. The recovery drink I just figured out in MFP is 274 calories!! And that is just the recovery drink instead of the Nuun tablets. I have yet to figure up their protein shakes. However, if I stay full longer, it is worth it. I'll keep you all updated. I highly recommend this cookbook. https://read.barnesandnoble.com/boo...recipes-for-hangry-athletes-signed-book/cover

I see they have an older one out there as well, I may get it too.

Diane Sue - OMG on the lizard. Did you finally catch it? That would make me crazy, as I'm sure it did you!! The worst thing we've ever had in our house are moles and we even had them in our ceiling not too long ago. Yuck!!! Hope you got it out of your house. LOL on using 15's for Kelly's fit test. That is heavy for what she is doing, nice job on that!! Funny how she snuck another set in there, she is sneaky that way. Love her workouts!!

Jolie - Nice walk yesterday! Do you go by yourself? I hope you are with a buddy, I don't know about where you live but here it is very dangerous to walk in our parks alone. If I ever did it by myself I'd have my 380 with me. Stay safe when you do that, you never know what kind of wack jobs are out there!!!

DOZ - Hope you are feeling better.

Roselyn - Hope you are doing well!!

Today is my scheduled rest day. I am going to get my hair done and take my son to the dentist.

Debbie, great cardio workout again today! I walk by myself but there are tons of people around and I walk on a side walk most of the time. I live in a very safe area so I am not concerned. I do walk with pepper spray just in case and a high pitch alarm.

Have a great day.

Today I did not do the Cathe Live 200. Maybe tomorrow. It is a cardio workout, after I looked at it. It has a weight movement or two for each round put in using 8 or 10# dumbbells along with things like push ups, burpees, plyo jacks, some abs etc.. I thought it was a total body strength workout, which is basically, but not a normal weight workout.
Today, I did Cathe Live Fit legs from her streaming last week, 46 minutes(42 actual) 1,596 steps, 249 calories, met 4.9, heart rate 114 average, 144 max. I then did Coffey Fit Raw Core Moves, 25 minutes, heart rate average 100, max 133, 83 calories, met 3.0. I still love this one and she puts some bridges and hamstring roll ins into it. Everything is done with the stability ball. I used my Bosu Ballast ball that has sand in it today.

Debbie, nice cardio work today. I will check that book out. I have several athlete nutrition and recipe books. I have used egg whites in the carton for my protein in smoothies before. That lowers some of the fat and calories. But, then I usually throw in some collagen or bone broth collagen with it. Sometimes some avocado and cacao powder and maca. It works. I think there is a couple of recipes in Performance Paleo. I came back from Sprouts and thought I would lay on the couch to read for a bit, checked under the cushions and pillows first just in case a lizard was hiding there. My grandson came to the door while I was doing this and when I went to answer I discovered Gertie(my dog) had found the lizard. She left it in two pieces on the rug in front of the door. That discovery was not pleasant. At least after that I felt it was safe to take off my shoes and go barefoot again lol. I was afraid I would step on the lizard with bare feet.

Jolie, enjoy your rest day. Mine are almost always on Sundays :)

Jolie - Hope you enjoyed your rest day!

Roselyn - Are you doing STS?? Nice job with the cardio yesterday!

Have a great workout today and a great Labor Day weekend!!! Wish it was Memorial Day! Labor day means the summer is over. :(

New #40
Today's workout was Cathe Live Ready Set Step that she did Thursday, 42 minutes, heart rate average 138, max 165, 3,877 steps, met 6.0, 278 calories. This was so much fun. Debbie, it is hard to believe that fall is just around the corner. I am not ready for winter weather. I never am really. I want to stay huddled in the house throughout. It looks like you are half way through STS now :) Nice work. I have had my dogs catch squirrels and birds and bring them to me in the past. They usually were dead, but not eaten. They were always ready to show off there catch and I hated scooping it up to get rid of it. I think when they grabbed them and the struggle just killed them. I did have to pick up a half dead blue jay once and felt bad for it. They used to torment my last dog and swoop down at her. I had a cat that would tear birds up on the door step when my parents would put her outside. They never appreciated it and I had to clean it up.

Today I did BACK and I walked a mile on the TM. I burned 346 calories. I had the worst nights sleep and I wasn't even going to workout, but I made myself do it and I am glad I did. I did the same format as my other workouts this week, 3 set x 10 reps and a forth set as a BOS.

Today is the beginning of College football and my sons team is playing Portland State at home. I was going to go to the game but I changed my mind because he probably wouldnt play because he is a red shirt freshman. Now they are saying he might play so i am bummed. I will be watching it tonight on TV! I am so excited for him!

Debbie, Nice Back and Bicep workout today. I dont do concentration curls much anymore because they hurt my elbow.

Diane Sue, Great workout today! I am going to print up your post and do that one soon! THanks for listing all of the exercises!!!!

Roselyn, good job on the workout yesterday!

Happy Labor Day Weekend! I have no plans because my husband is working Saturday and Monday.
