Getting Our Licks In!

Good morning. Another beautiful springlike day--can't believe the weatherman is forecasting snow for tomorrow. It just doesn't seem possible. The temperature was about 60 yesterday and is supposed to be the same today. However, just in case it does snow (and here in Virginia whether it does or not is always a bit of a question), I've already spoken to my neighbor kids about shoveling. But today it is nice and we are going to enjoy it by doing taxes. Ick. And working on a paper for work. Oh well. Need to do a little house cleaning first and then I have an STS plyo legs (my choice) and STS ab circuits no equipment to do. This February rotation really does hit the lower body. My left butt muscle was cramping up on me last night and yesterday was a YogaRelax day.

Janie: Sister just finished meso 2. Seemed like it went by so fast although she wasn't so sure about that.

Did I ever mention that Renee and I are registered for the Glassboro roadtrip? Well, we are, just in case I forgot about that. My third, her second. Two of my colleagues went up to Philly this weekend to visit family. I was like: hey--you will be only 30 miles from Cathe's gym--great opportunity to exercise with Cathe. They think I'm a little nuts. How can anyone drive to Philly and not make a side trip to Glassboro to exercise with Cathe? Doesn't seem right.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Overachiever with my check-ins today. Did STS plyo legs disc 32 and STS ab circuits no equipment. Ripken "joined" me for exercise today which means he sat and watched and got his licks in. Not sure I would have made it through the ab circuits without my sweet pup huffing and puffing in my face. Talk about inspiration. What a goofy dog. Got to love it.

Where is everybody? I can almost hear an echo when I post. I'm on the phone with sister--she is getting snow where she lives and I am not getting snow--Yeah! Just finished Kick, Punch, and Crunch a little bit ago. Now time to get cleaned up and work on taxes.

Happy Presidents' Day! Very little snow here--just a tad bit over a dusting. When Ripken and I walked this morning, the sidewalks and roads were just about dry. Been catching up on my work-work today. Nice to be able to think without office interruptions.

Took a break at mid-day and did Leaner Legs: a classic Cathe lower body workout, plus ab work. I always think that Leaner Legs is like Legs & Glutes, where you get the weight work and then the floor work. But leaner legs "just" has standing leg work using weights and then ab work. That last set of static lunges with the 35 pound barbell is a killer. Therefore, I am pleasantly surprised when Cathe says "get ready for ab work." I'm like: yeah, ab work! She is working in quite a bit of ab/core work on the February rotation. Very nice.

I'm starting to feel kind of lonely here--I know folks are busy but I hope someone checks in soon. I'm really starting to feel like I'm talking to myself.

Michelle,

Please forgive me for being MIA. I'm so sorry. Will be working out later and then will post my results. You aren't alone!

Janie

Sunday did disc 15, rested yesterday and today did AB for 30 min. with no weight. I modified AB most of the way. Jeesh!

Michelle, Your weather just doesn't know what it wants to do does it? You are smart to get your taxes done with. Now you can relax. I bet the Yoga Relax helped your butt muscles cramps. You poor thing! Tell Renee hi for me and so glad she finished meso 2. Tell her I'm beginning it. As usual, I'm sure you'll enjoy the road trip with Cathe. Don't understand anyone that is so close to Glassboro wouldn't want to exercise with Cathe.

Michelle, Great job on plyo legs disc 32 and ab circuits no equipment. Ripken is such a good boy for supporting his Mama.

Michelle, I feel the same way when I'm on the forum and no one reply's. I'm really sorry and will make sure (unless I'm at the beach house) to join in all the time. I guess I messed up.:(:( So wonderful to hear you are not getting the snow. But not so good for your sis. Great job on KP&C. You must be almost done with taxes?

Laura, Hope everything is good with you.

Seems we need to liven our little group up. Any suggestions? Perhaps inviting others to join? Have a contest of sorts?

I continue to be motivated through you and am afraid that I messed up and lost you both. I sure hope not.

I'm thinking of doing a series of Cathe Step DVD's on the days I don't do weight lifting. Would you like to join in? We can start off with her oldest one until we make it through to her latest one. Or if you don't have all of them, we can do what we have and then do something else together. If you don't like or want to do that, then suggest something and I would love to do it with you. Let's do something together and get closer as a group. We could do Hiits, or the IMAX's, core work...anything?

Take care,

Janie

So far I'm thinking that today will be my rest day. But in the back of my mind I just might do a step workout later tonight. We'll see.

Michelle, How are your taxes doing? They must be done by now. Say hi to Renee for me. Did you and Ripken have a nice walk in the sunny weather?

Laura, How is your ankle doing? How is your teaching doing? Your girls?

Take care ladies,

Janie

Gosh--what day is it? I think I missed checking in yesterday; exercise yesterday was Slide and Glide. Exercise today: LIS LIC. Today, I am really feeling my abs. It has been interesting to see how the DOMs migrate from the legs to the abs on the Feb rotation. Cathe always seems to know what she is doing when she creates these things.

Janie: don't feel bad about not checking in. Sometimes we get busy, that is life. STS Disc 16--you are moving right along. Our little group does seem to have shrunk considerably. I'm trying to get sister to check in every once in a while. Right now, she seems to be content with lurking. I am hoping as she continues to get back in shape that eventually she will be motivated to rejoin the group. Not sure what is going on with Laura. I hope she is doing okay. It seems like here check-ins have become much more sparse since her accident. That makes me worry a bit.

Hey ladies! I am so sore everywhere! :). It's good to have DOMS again, although painful! I taught all week and I did my first STS workout yesterday. It is going to be a long while before I am fully back in my game. It's hard to get going again in some ways..... My ankle isn't bothering me at all but both my wrist are messed up and bothering me good deal. :-(

Tonight I teach Total Tone! I need to find some cardio I can do.... But at least I'm moving in some capacity again.

Did disc 16, chest, shoulders and triceps. Feels so good to use heavy weight to failure.

Michelle, Great job on s&G yesterday and today's LIS LIC. You are doing so well.

Laura, Great job on teaching on the STS workout yesterday. Hope your wrist will be better very soon. So glad you are OK, was worried about you too. Enjoy tonight's TT and perhaps some cardio as well. It's nice to hear you are moving to your capacity. Yea!

Hello,

thought I would post today...don't ask me why, just a whim!

Today is my rest day after my active recovery week from STS. Tomorrow I start mesocycle 3! Back and Chest, is the first thing. Looking forward to lifting HEAVY! I will be doing the squat rack instead of plyo legs. Don't think my knee can handle super high intensity yet, but I'm getting there. I no longer use the brace for cardio, just my ace bandage. Though I think on things like the "imax's" it is in my best interest to use the brace. But it feels good to do step nearly knee "naked". LOL

I still peek in every few days. Glad everyone is doing okay.

I'm very busy at school, but that's the way I like it.

Take care....
~Renee

Rolly and I drove to Huff & Puff trail and speed walked for 40 min.

Renee, Enjoy your rest day today, you deserve it. Wow, mesocycle 3 already. You are doing so well, especially with all you had to go through. Very proud of you. I love lifting heavy too! I'm in the second week of mesocycle 2 and love lifting to failure. Can't wait to get into mesocycle 3. When I get there I'll be using the squat rack too. Just can't beat that. Congratulations for no longer using the brace for cardio. Yea!

Take care,

Janie

Did HIIT-P. Wow, I do like that one very much. Had to modify of course, but that's OK. Got through the whole thing.

Take care,

Janie

Sorry I been MIA a couple of days. Did yoga relax on Thursday because 1) I didn't sleep too well Wed night and 2) there was no way my poor tired legs were doing IMAX2 on a poor night's rest. Did IMAX2 intervals only on Friday because it was late in the day and it was that or nothing. I didn't want to be a total sloth, so I just did the intervals. Today--it has been a busy day. Regular day of housecleaning, walking Ripken, more housecleaning, and buying Kindle books for upcoming vacation trip. Did HIIT 30/30 and pyramid upper body, pyramid up premix. Felt like I needed a little upper body work given the emphasis of the Feb rotation is lower body. I did good with all my weights until biceps at the end. I'm trying to increase my highest weight amount on biceps to 15 pound dumb bells. All I could eek out was 4 reps on hammer curls and 5 reps in regular bicep curls using the 15 pounders. But, I have to start somewhere, right?

Sister: nice to have you drop by.

Janie: good job on meso 2. Lifting to failure is fun.

Laura: glad to have you back with us. We sure did miss you. Also very happy to hear that you are getting back into the swing of things with your exercise classes and personal exercise.

Michelle

So I got through my class on Wednesday night, took thursday off because of DOMS :D, and did STS Meso Cycle 1 Week 1 Legs! Man that was tough!
But surprisingly not sore today. I am taking today off though. Easing back into things slowly. I have decided to do the 6 month STS program and hope to start getting some cardio in next week

I am down at my mom's for the weekend with the girls, who are now in the Alice in Wonderland Ballet production and have rehearsal both days. My mom is out of town so it is just us.

Currently on a recumbent bike at the North Boulder Rec Center doing my first cardio in what feels like forever! The girls are at Ballet Rehearsing. I might get STS Chest & Triceps in as well but I am with a friend and we might sauna instead. Do you ever feel weird exercising in front of others?

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!

A nice Sunday--trying to put the finishing touches on taxes. Then we will try to e-file. I haven't had much success with that option the past couple of years, but I'm hoping this year will be a charmed experience and we won't have to go the mail-it-in route. Today was Butts and Guts--all 70 minutes. Haven't down that one since boat season last fall. Sure was fun.

Laura: I don't work out in front of people very often since I work out at home, but I will let you know if it feels weird to do so while we are on vacation in a week. It's so great to have you back with us--I'm just smiling all over. Sister just started the first week of STS meso 3 this week and I think Janie is on the second week of meso 2. I think it will be a while before I try doing STS again--just doesn't mesh with my work/travel schedule right now.

Hi to Janie and to my lurking Sister.
Michelle

Did disc 18, back and biceps. Love the back off sets! For biceps used 15# dumbells in ea. hand and for back (30#'s) the same dumbells (didn't use the barbell). Except the one arm where you have your elbow on the knee for a base, I used 12#'s. There was no way I could do more. I used this weight (15# in ea. hand) for back also. Just happen to be that way. I can use my gloves next time to increase the weight when I feel ready.

Michelle
, Great job on Thursday's yoga, Friday's IMAX2 intervals only and today's walking Ripken, house cleaning, HIIT 30/30 and pyramid UB, Pyramid up premix. Good job, I don't care what you think. LOL

Also great job on taxes, B&G, the whole 70 min. today.

Laura, Great job on classes Wedn. and legs. Yep, they are tough, I have to agree. OOOOOO, great decision on doing the STS for 6 months. That should work very well for you. Enjoy those Alice in Wonderland Ballet production rehearsals. Sounds awesome.

Great job on the recumbent bike. I do feel weird exercising in front of others.

Hi to Lurking Renee.

Take care ladies,

Janie
