Getting Our Licks In!

A nice day for staying inside. We slept in this morning--isn't that what Saturday mornings are for? It felt so good to feel completely rested. Been doing a little cleaning, reading, exercising (Afterburn today), and walking Ripken. We just came in a little bit ago from a short walk--it's raining with maybe a little sleet mixed in. Sounded like something frozen was coming down with the rain. The ground temperature is in the low 40s, so there must be cold air aloft.

As sister noted, we are once again registered for the Glassboro Roadtrip. Just doing the registration process is a mix of agony and fun. Sister gets extremely worked up over the whole thing--she is very entertaining. DH and I also have reservations for a trip to Tortola next month--11 days at Long Bay. We have a direct flight from Dulles to St Thomas and then will take the ferry to Tortola. DH has been on the internet for the past 2 weeks, maybe 3, looking at places and checking availability. We finally settled on Long Bay in Tortola and made the reservations yesterday. We've been to Tortola before for day trips while staying on another British Virgin Island--this will be the first time that we actually stay on Tortola. I'm looking forward to it. Just have alot of work to get done beforehand.

Janie: you are almost through the first mesocycle. How exciting is that? What cardio are you doing with it? Glad you are having some sunny days out in the PNW. You guys sure have had a wet and snowy winter.

Laura: I'm glad that you and your family are safe and sound. Snow over the hood of the truck--EEK! I guess experiencing that much snow can be a mix of delight and dread. But it's good for the ski resorts, right? And I am so relieved to hear that you are feeling like you are getting back to normal. Did you ever find out how you landed up rolling your vehicle or is that just one of those things you will never know? Gentle exercise sounds good to me. I am going to do a yoga and stretch week next week before I start Cathe's February rotation. It is good timing because I will be on travel to Camp Lejeune for most of the week.

Loving my Kindle Fire, by the way. I have read more books in the last month because it is so easy to go the library online and get books. Love it! That's my next stop once I am done checking out the forums.

Yesterday I tried some very basic Pilates moves, and today my back felt it in a not great but not horrible way, so I didn't do anything today. I'm going to try every other day next week & walking. I did get to organize, label, name all my photos for 2011 though! :). Definitely more cognitively myself everyday.

Janey: it's so beautiful in the PNW when the sun comes out. I do miss my trips up there.

Michelle: last thing I remember is reaching for my purse which had fallen into the passenger foot well. The Dr said my memories might come back but so far they haven't. I aM not sure if that is something I want to remember!

Can't help it, but I did the Treadmill again. I guess because I'm not ready for lengthy steps yet and want to get stronger so I can use an 8" step instead of just the top. However, I could be doing the Wedding Video next. I think I just talked myself into that one. LOL:D I'll do it on Mon.

Michelle, Yep, I've got legs to do tomorrow and I'll be able to have an active week. Can't wait! Will start it out with the Wedding Video. When I was in the working force, I loved Saturday Mornings and Sunday mornings sleeping in. It was heavenly. Great job on AB and walking Ripken. Your poor sissy. One of my sisters is like that too. It's so cute, but I know it must be hard on them. OOOOO, Long Bay sounds like a wonderful place to vacation with a romantic ferry. Enjoy your Kindle Fire. It sounds wonderful. What books are you reading? I'm ready to dive in a good one. Any suggestions?

Laura, Glad you are listening to your body. Do be safe when it comes to the back. Sounds like a good plan trying every other day next week and walking. You will be yourself in no time at all. ((hugs)).

Take care,

Janie

Well the rain has stopped and the sun is shining, but there is a cool breeze out of the NW. Sun feels good, but the air is cold. I did Rhythmic Step today--as always it felt good to do an oldie but a goodie; however, I do feel like I need a "rest" week. I think I understand why Cathe put a rest week in the transformation rotation. My legs are feeling like a stretch, but I might try to get a couple more days of weight work and cardio in before I switch to yoga and stretches. We'll see how my body feels in the morning.

Laura: It is good to hear that you are steadily making progress; feeling more like yourself. Every other day with pilates/yoga sounds good to me. You don't want to do an rescrambling of your brain matter. Reaching for your purse might have been enough to make you go astray in your driving, but maybe something else happened. All that matters now is that you get better.

Janie: I know that the Wedding video is one of your favorites. And I think that as long as you get in some exercise everyday, you are headed to where you want to be. One more day and you get a week of active recovery--YEAH!

~michelle

Joey got home from working at the beach house and decided for me that I should go and enjoy the weather that is over there and of course to get some more painting done. He didn't get the Pergo in, but he did finish the bedroom sliding doors that I forgot to do. Will be leaving here shortly, and will come back on Wed. I did legs, the last disc and now I can do active recovery for a week. Beach Here I Come!

Michelle, If your body is telling you to get a rest week in, then do it. You deserve it with all you have been doing.

:confused::(GOOD GRAVY:mad::confused::( Last night I was watching the Super Bowl with my girls at my mom's. I was sitting cross legged on the couch and I leaned forward to get my water for the coffee table and SNAP something popped in my ankle/foot and I was in excruciating pain!! It hurt so bad all night and this morning it wouldn't bear any weight at all! I was in tears driving the girls to school as it is my right foot and transferring my foot to gas and brake was pain, pain, pain! I came home called the Dr and had a referral to get an X-ray down here........and now the weirdst thing of all it is getting better all on it's own!!! What the HECK???? I can now bare weight on it, it is still stiff and tender but nothing like it was! So now what? Spend all this $$ and get it checked out? I think I will make an appointment for tomorrow and see how it feels by then and cancel it if I need to...

I have been so good about resting and not exercising and now this! UGH

Goodness this is crazy!

Well all I can say to both of you is if your body is asking for a rest take it!!

Day 3 of yoga/stretch week. It's a nice break--but somehow I don't find the YogaMax workout as relaxing as YogaRelax. Ergo the name differences for each workout dvd, I suppose.

Janie: enjoy the beach! And the active recovery.

Laura: I don't know what to say. Maybe the snap in your ankle/foot as nothing (a major muscle spasm???) maybe it is something. I'd get it checked. Better to be safe than sorry. The only other thought I have--and I feel this way often--is it's hell getting old sometimes. I know you are younger than I am, but don't you sometimes have those days where you just feel like your body is falling apart and there is nothing you can do about it? Lord knows I do. Of course, I'm usually overreacting and let's face it--you are very active and fit which means you are more in tune to your body and what is going on. I vote to get the ankle/foot checked. Let us know what is going on.

Okay--I'm in NC at Camp Lejeune. Time to join the troops and head out to spend the day with the Marines.

I called the Dr this morning and he thinks it might be ligamental so he wants t see me first before having an X-ray now but I won't be able to get in until Friday afternoon. I had thought of starting the STS 3 1/2 month program today (Upper Body) but my friend convinced me to take another week off and start after I see the Dr.:confused::p It is probably a good idea it was one heck of a doozy of an accident (still Don't remember) but from all accounts I am lucky to be alive and walking and talking so it might be good to rest up another week......

Michelle: glad your enjoying your rest week! Have fun with the Marines! And yes 40 hasn't been so kind to me!;):( I definitely feel more aches and pains and also noticing huge changes in my skin & hair. I also am noticing some hormonal changes as well....And 2012 has already been one heck of a year already!

The bathroom is now painted! Yea! Got home yesterday evening late, so I just slipped in the tub and relaxed for awhile and then opted to watch TV the rest of the evening. Rolly and I walked on the beach about an hour each time or so for two days, the third day was rainy and it was time to come back home. (no walking that day) Only lost 1/4 pound. It must have been the plantain I ate. Didn't know if that was on the Paleo Diet, I guess not. At least I didn't gain. Will be doing a cardio today and will post that with an update. UPDATE: Did the Wedding Video today and used a riser under the step up. Yea! I couldn't do the last segment with the riser so took it off for the last segment. Still OK.

Michelle, Great job on yoga/stretch week. Enjoy Camp Lejeune and a day with the Marines.:)

Laura, I hope your foot will get even better still. I think your friend is right to tell you to wait doing exercises until you see the doc. Laura, I'm so grateful you are alive. My goodness what an awful thing to have to go through.

Take care,

Janie

Back home and stretch/yoga week is over. Started the February rotation today: BodyMax2--the whole dang thing. That is one long workout. Felt good. I think tomorrow is HIIT 40/20.

Laura: 2012 has been a rough year for you. Waiting another week to start STS doesn't sound like a bad idea. Let us know what you find out about your ankle.

Janie: Sounds like you had a productive week. How much weight have you lost so far since you started the Paleo diet? You seem to have a new glow about you since you've been following this diet. Amazing I can see that glow all the way from the east coast, isn't it.;)

Cold as the dickens here. Wind is blowing big time, but it is not supposed to last long. So far, this has been my kind of winter.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
Michelle

Cold, cold, cold: that is the weather here. If the wind would lay down, it would be almost bearable. HA! Short walks for me and Ripken until this weather moderates a little. Step Max today--I thought it was HIIT 40/20, but it was Step Max. I think if I have done this one once before that is alot. It's a fun workout--Cathe looks so young--not that she looks old now, but the outfits are definitely a blast from the 90s. Tomorrow is HIIT 40/20. Should be fun.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
~michelle

Still cold, cold, cold. Ripken and I did a medium length walk this morning and then I did HIIT 40/20. I think they must have turned down the heat in our building at work this weekend, because it has been cold in my office and throughout the building all day (colder than normal). Hoping that the building warms up by tomorrow. Geesch!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday.
Michelle

Today was the Wedding video. I used the risers making the step up 8". It was truly a sweat fest for me. Loved it!

Michelle, Thank you for keeping up our forum. Glad you are back home. How is the Feb. rotation going? Body Max 2 is not an easy workout for sure. Very proud of you. I've lost 14 pounds so far. Weight will start to go slower and on the Paleo diet. My body will stop eventually losing weight when it has reached where it is suppose to be in weight.

Michelle, Cant' blame you for short walks with weather that cold. Great job on SM. I love her older DVD's, maybe because I'm so more familiar with them. The technology for the newer ones are amazing though.

Michelle, Great job on your med walk with Ripken and Hiit 40/20. Hope your building gets warmer for you.

Laura, How ya doing?

Take care special ladies,

Janie

Happy Valentine's Day!

I made a huge mistake! I did the WV with 6" instead of 8". Wish I could do that! LOL Today was the treadmill again, for 40 min. at 3.6 with an incline. Tomorrow is STS mesocycle 2 hypertrophy. Yea! I spent one or two more days longer for the active recovery to get the week started where I wanted it to be. Now I'm in sync.

Take care,

Janie

Happy Valentines Day!

So my ankle is sprained but no breaks.... It isn't rally even bothering me anymore actually but I'm going to stay off it anyway... Just seems
like that is the message I'm getting and I don't want to push it! I have started back to teaching although I am definitely instructing more than doing, but none the less I do have some DOMS which feel GREAT but considering how little I did and how sore I am I an tell it's going to be awhile before I am back to par....

Bo and I celebrated Valentines ay together last night since I am at my mom's tonight with the girls ! Hope y'all lades had a nice day.

Hi everyone--where is the week going? I totally messed up on my workout this morning. I think I was looking at the wrong week of the Feb. rotation and I ended up taking it easy anyway because my legs just weren't going to do another intense lower body workout. So I did the LIS Total Body Trisets Upper Body premix--which is short and sweet but I got something in. I'll have to try to sneak in CardioCore Circuits later in the week which was supposed to be the workout today. Guess I'm losing it.

Laura: a sprained ankle doesn't sound too horrible--could be worse, right? And taking it slow with the exercising/instructing is probably a good thing. You can ease back into the exercise. DH and I also did Valentine's dinner last night. He made lobster--very yummy. Definitely not something we eat everyday--more like once or twice a year.

Janie: I don't even attempt doing step on more than one riser--for some workouts, I will use more than one riser--like athletic training (I think that is one), but not for a full fledged step workout. I think I would just collapse.
Do you start meso2 this weekend?

Michelle

Today was STS disc 13, chest shoulders and tris. Wow! This is so much better than the last 12 discs. I just feel like now I'm getting there. Don't get me wrong, these are harder because you do go into failure. I love that! Also 20 min on the treadmill right after the workout.

Laura, Joey and I celebrated Valentines day Mon. since he went to the Beach House to get some more stuff done. I'm so glad that your ankle is not broken. Whew! Your plan to stay off it sounds like a good one. Good to hear you are back teaching/instructing. You'll get up to par very soon, don't worry.:)

Michelle, The week is going very fast for me too. You did good taking it easy, it's serendipity speaking to you.;) Great job on LIS Tota Body Trisets Upper Body pre. It's a very good workout.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Feels like spring--but we are not quite there yet. Plus I haven't seen any robins yet so I'm cautious about my optimism with this mild winter that we have been having. Little Rippy and I did a long walk this morning--that's two days in a row for my pup. I'm not discouraging him on the long walks unless it is really cold or pouring rain. This morning it was not raining and not super cold, so my legs appreciated the longer walk. Helps keep me and the pup young. Did Muscle Endurance after the walkabout. Hello leg presses--3 rounds of those lovely exercises, 2 sets per leg each round. Just love them. Love the ab/core work on ME--got all my exercise balls out--my 5 pound squishy ball, my smaller 8 pound ball, and my 8 pound medicine ball. Nice change of pace.

Janie: I think I like meso 2 and 3 better than meso 1. I'm pretty sure it's the longer rest periods that make the difference even though the weight amounts are increasing. Good stuff--feels good to be "back in the groove," doesn't it?

~michelle

Did the treadmill for 30 min. today. Didn't want to do any other cardio because tomorrow are legs. I know it's going to be hard. I'm ready though.

Michelle, Great job on your walk with Ripken. We too are having some nice weather. It won't last but it's nice while we have it. Great job on ME after walking. Good job! It does feel good being back int the groove!

Laura, How ya doing?

Take care ladies,

Janie

OMG! Did disc 14 legs and abs today. I walked them off on the treadmill for 30 min. It felt sooooooo good to do that and get the stiffness out of them.

Take care,

Janie
