Getting Our Licks In!

Beautiful Sunday. The weather is great right now, particularly for walking my sweet pup. Today was STS disc 20, legs. Felt pretty good. Of course, we'll see how my legs feel when I wake up in the morning.

Janie: Oh, I was hoping that you'd still be in Vegas on the 11th. I'm travelling with a colleague and when we get in to Vegas on the 9th, we'll be hopping in the rental car and driving to Barstow, CA. Work will have me at Ft Irwin on the 10th and then we drive back to Vegas early the morning of the 11th. Are ya'll driving back to Washginton state or flying? Might not work to meet, but you never know....

ReneeP: Did you like cardio-supersets? Doing STS, alot of the Low Impact Series workouts just don't mix in that well for the cardio days. Interesting that you don't get DOMs as much from the weightlifting. What do you think made the difference this time around?

Laura: haven't heard from you which probably means you are busy with your girls. Hope you are doing well.

ReneeP, Great job yesterday and on doing power step from cardio hits, a job on today's cardio supersets and yoga relax. Wow and you also did GS bicep, shoulders and back. Full of energy aren't you.

You are good in taking advantage of it. I don't know how you could have cleaned your house too. Awesome! What book are you reading?

Michelle, Need to talk to my Joey and see if we can stay an extra day so we can meet with you. He's sleeping right now. I'll let you know more tomorrow. I just can't let this opportunity pass.:)

Do have fun and enjoy Barstow while you are there, if you can. I hear it's an amazing place. We are traveling by car and going on to Utah to visit our favorite places where fossilized dinosaur bones, petrified wood and agates are to be found.

Hello all.. Jane yes that energy doesn't always happen. To I had to make up for Fri I felt. I hate unplanned reast days it really throughs me off. I hope u guess do get to meet up with Michelle! How awesome is that? Lol.
Well I think today is a rest day for me. Not sure what's planned for tomorrow yet. Maybe tbt huum. Ill see. I'm at work and a little sleepy for some reason. I actually sleep all night that is rare! I'm more tired getting sleep then if I don't get any ...
Michelle I'm not real aurs y I finally got sore. I think it is because I can do the straight forward lifting and two count with better control. And if I'm doing endless reps that I hate ..it cause stress on the joints. I think less reps and heavey is a way to go. If I do high reps I think it should b In a circuit ...like low impact circuit. I think a weight workout with med weight a reps like crazy is hard on joints. That's only think I can think.

Great walkabout with Ripken this morning. The weather is just perfect for pup-walking these days which makes us both happy.:) Did MMA Fusion this morning. I cannot remember the last time I did this workout. It has to be well over a year ago which means I might as well have been doing it for the first time. At least it felt that way. Also not an easy workout after an STS legs workout. But then, I don't think after an STS legs workout that there is any cardio that doesn't challenge those sore muscles.

ReneeP: I agree with you, slow and heavy does tend to create more muscle soreness; but those endurance weight workouts are nothing to sneeze at either.

Janie: I don't want you to deviate from you plans if it too much hassle. My window of opportunity for us to meet is pretty narrow. If I remember correctly, it takes about 2 and a half hours to drive from Barstow to Las Vegas. Last time we did this trip, I think we left Barstow about 5:30 in the morning and got to the airport in Vegas by 8 am. My flight is at 10am, so again, our window is very small here and basically we would have to meet at the airport which could be a real pain for you guys. So--PLEASE don't make Joey too nuts over this. I probably should not have even brought it up except I couldn't help myself. :eek:

Well that was an intense 5 days of Yoga!! The immersion was amazing! It's amazing the positions my body could be gentle coaxed into after a well planned sequence and excellent teaching! This series, Ashtanga, makes a full back bend look like child's play! We did up to 4 hours a yoga a day plus meditation and spiritual teachings & chanting so the full spectrum of yoga!

I am thinking of some light cardio today! Haven't done any cardio in weeks it feels like! I can pick up STS later in the week...

It's my girls B-day today! The little sweethearts are 12!!! I can't believe it! We are going out to a nice dinner with my mom and the girls Godmother who is In Town. They Are getting their ears pierced as their big present!!

Wow sounds like great yoga practices! Id love to be able to do that. Lol I have a few yoga tapes but nothing with anything close to what ur talking about. I find doing a relaxing yoga really helps my head aches.
Ooh I have a question ... why on some yoga dvd it says don't do during ttom... not those words but that's what they say. It seems to help me with cramps an d headaches so I don't listen to it. Lol I hope there isn't a health risk I don't know about.
Today is a rest day. I did css yesterday and yoga relax and I loved it! Had a quick fast workout then a nice long stretch!

ReneeP, Enjoy your rest day. Dong that much exercise in a day will make you sleepy the next day. It does for me anyway. Or after such a workout will go to bed a lot earlier.

Michelle, Great job on the walkabout with Ripken. Love the New Fall weather! Also great job on MMA fusion. Very tough wrokout, especailly ater a STS leg workout. Everytime (which isn't many) I do it, it's hard. LOL

Maybe someday our paths will meet again and will be able to meet. You never know. I'm glad you brought it up. I wouldn't have been able to resist it either. LOL:D Stay safe when you go.

Laura, Sounds like yoga was on your side. I need to do more of it myself. It sounds very intense with immersion yoga. Will need to look that up. You must be very limbered up. O my, twins 12th birthday and ear piercing. They must be very exciting. Fun, fun, fun. Enjoy them, they won't stay that way forever. Also enjoy the dinner with your mom and the girls Godmother.

STS disc 21, back and biceps this morning. Third week of STS is almost over, just a cardio workout tomorrow and then my rest day--Yeah!

Laura: you are definitely this groups yoga guru. When I was a teenager, I could do backbends with no problem but those days are long gone. All I can say is more power to you sister for keeping your body so flexible during your adult years.

ReneeP: I've never seen that kind of warning on a yoga workout. IMHO, it seems old-fashioned/outdated to me. Just makes me go: Hmmmm.

Janie: I think one day our paths will cross for sure--other than just here in cyberspace. It is only a matter of time.:)

Michelle nice job on sts again! You know what? Come to think of it... itf was an older workout! That explains it. Lol oh well good to know.
 
Not sure what ill do for work out today. Janie I can't imagine not doing cardio that long. I'm am a cardio junky or use to be. Lol

Did back, shoulders, biceps and abs tonight. Used free weight and machines.

Michelle, Great job on disc 21 back and biceps this morning. So close for 3rd week to be done. That is awesome. You are doing so well. What cardio will you do tomorrow? I think too that our paths will cross again. I'm looking forward to it.

ReneeP, Pretty sure Laura is the one that hasn't done cardio in a long time. I too am a cardio junky, if it isn't walks, then it's something like speed walk, jogging, or machines. But, I have to do something for sure. ;)

Laura, It was so nice to hear from you. How are the newly 12 year olds doing?

Quick update ...I did to the max low impact premix. After work, at only 39 minutes! I burn over 300 calories! Fast, low impact, and burned a good bit for that short of time! Yes I think it is the perfect workout for after a work day.
 
Hey Ladies! Yesterday I taught Beginner Pilates in the Morning and my new Fusion class in the evening! We pierced the girls ears after school and they did great! It does make them look older!! I hope they don't get infected!!

I taught yoga this morning, I have a private client in a sec. And sub a yoga class tonight and then my Total Tone afterward

It's a very hectic time for me! I hope to be able to check in regularly! I have decided to continue to study Astanga and Aunarsa yoga with Jeanie so that's going to add to my plate for sure ... Plus I got offered a Pilates teaching position at the YMCA in Boulder.....

Renee so really the only poses u should avoid during your time of the month are inversions... Shoulder Stands
Head Stands
Plows

And mor strenuous back bends the reason behind the inversions is that is counterproductive. To the 'flow'. And some women will experience it as uncomfortable and maybe even interrupting their cycles. As far as the deep back bending its because the pelvis - sacrum is actually less stable do to hormones that relax that area during that time and thus making the female more prone to low back injury ...

If your DVDs includes these more advanced and demanding poses and you still feel like practicing u could just substitute any other asana u like during that segment like a child's pose

I did step fit today, older cathe it was nice great sweat long cardio and steps were not hard to learn at all. 73minutes total I think.
Well got to do cloths again and I have to cook today. I make a big dinner o.n my day off like.big pot of chilli or homemade potato soup so tomorrow when I get home I can come home stick it on top stove for low heat, and exercise by time I'm done the food is nicly warm, for family meal of left overs lol. They seem to like that they don't complain plus it saces money and time.

Worked on a zentanglel today and did a Rolly walk, Joey and I went with him. LOL Getting ready to go to Mexico tomorrow, so will post either tomorrow night or the next day. Want to purchase some the their beautiful ware, blankets, a few drugs, glass, leather, and seeing friends we made along the way from previous years.

ReneeP, Great job on Max Low Impact prem. And did you say Fast Low Impact as well? Fantastic calorie burn. Good for you!

Yesterday was STS cardio Kickbox; today is a rest day. It is nice to have everyone checking in, even though everyone is busy, busy, busy. Got our yard aerated, seeded, and fertilized yesterday. Now, I hope it rains so we don't have to run the sprinkler system the next few weeks. Not much else going on, just work and taking care of the family.

Today I wasn't so motivated so I did about 45 minutes of Kenpo X from P90X with the weighted gloves. My dvd kept messing up so it was very frustrating and interrupted and then I ran out of time....picked up the girls and went to a friend of mine's house who had baked a birthday cake for the giros and gave them some painting supplies so then we all painted for a little bit before it was time to come home for the whole homework dinner bed routine! Goodness its a lot to get done! I see middle school to be a very intense time of evening routines!!!

I am going to be subbing a lot again in October so STS may be on the back burner... I will have to be mindful of my body...

Renee I really intend to plan meals ahead with either crock pot or big batches but just haven't gotten into that groove yet!!

Janey love the art! So awesome to be creative!

Michelle; I have been enjoying the kickboxing again! Ave you tried weighted gloves yet? It does pick up the intensity, even a 1lb glove weight. Although you have to be mindful of throwing your punches and not jamming the joints

Laura yeah if u get ur crock pot out it really helps on schoool days that there's soooo much going on. I did my stuff early in life I guess. Lol my boys are olderr now and I'm 43. Funny a lot of people my age there kids r middle school and some high school. But I do crock pot now and back when I had to driive them to baseball wrestling rotc... jr cops football! And work fulltime. Boy I Miss it a lot but do not know how I survived. I guess ... just went threw motions some days. I felt like a zombie.. And yes it seems evenings go by so fast with extracurricular activity and homework! Time went by to fast really. Shewww ill b praying For u!! Lol.
I did push pull today. I upped the weight In it this time. Don't. Want my body to used too it.
