Getting Our Licks In!

Joey and I had such a lovely time in Mexico. It was 100 degrees, sunny and Joey was concerned for his skin. Me too. But he slathered up and out in it we did go. Bought all kinds of beautiful things. I love the Mexican people, kind and outgoing, friendly. We, as always, can't believe what they say though on their prices. LOL:D It's all part of the fun of selling and the deception game. But, they didn't know how seasoned we are from learning this long ago. We came home with things that I think was fair priced. Most of which were 2/3 less or more than the asking price.

Will be sitting beside the pool today working on my zentangle and before dinner will go to the gym. Post that when I'm done later tonight.

Can't complain, it's so beautiful here. This is the pool and the hot tub is just off the right side of it, yet connected. Really cool. If you stand up you can see the strip about 10 miles away. What a view!

Michelle, Great job on SS cardio Kickbox and do enjoy your rest day today. You deserve it. Bet your yard will be so pretty once it rains/sprinklers and it has a chance to respond to the care it received.

Laura, Great job on Kenpo X from P90X. I'd say you were motivated. That's a good amount of time with that workout. Sorry about the DVD messing up though. Makes things frustrating. If I remember right, middle school is a very busy time. Wait until high school! LOL You'll enjoy it, just more busy and you will be so proud of your girls and their accomplishments.

ReneeP, Thank you, that was kind to say. I sure hope your friend will post in here. It's always nice to get to know more people.

Take care ladies, enjoy your weekend,

Janie

I did push pull yesterday and went up inweight for back and squats but can't get stronger in bis tri or shoulders or doing lunges. I think the lunges is hard to go upp becarof the balance problems I haave due to old feet surgeries. Well today I did low. Impact circuit upper body premix it said 53 minutes but it wwas 63! Hum. It was fun I know the reutine well I did it a lot before lol.. so lovely Janie!

STS disc 22, chest, shoulders, and triceps. Upped my chest presses to 50 pounds which is alot for this ol' girl but I hung in there. Then on the shoulder work, I really struggled. Shoulders are like my aquilles heel. Plus, doing those darn drop sets just really pooped out my shoulder muscles. Can't believe that every shoulder exercise in this one was a drop set--wowza. At least after shoulders, I felt like the tricep work seemed easier.

Laura: Sometimes I use my weighted gloves for kickboxing and sometimes I don't. Since I'm doing STS right now, I don't eye the weighted gloves on the cardio KB workouts. I imagine you are going to be very busy with your girls for the next 6 years or at least until they get their drivers' licenses. The great thing is that you really seem to enjoy each stage of their life and be involved--that's what it's all about, isn't it? I'm almost afraid to ask but you have not mentioned your DH of late--how is he doing?

Janie: How long does it take to drive from Vegas to Mexico? Must not be too far. The picture of the pool is lovely--very serene looking. It is great that you and Joey are enjoying your visit with your son and his family.

Speaking of DH's--my DH is doing okay as is my sweet pup. We are still intensely watching our Nationals play baseball and hoping they can secure the division win. Ripken roots for the Nats as well. He usually watches a couple of innings each night. GO NATS!

Using mostly machines tonight I did legs and abs.

ReneeP, Great job on PP yesterday and going up in weight. It takes a little time to move on to heavier weight. Are you eating enough protein? It will happen when consistent. Great job on today's Impact circuit Upper Body prem.

Michelle, Great job on disc 22, chest, shoulders, and triceps. 50 pounds for chest is awesome. Yea! I struggles with abs and legs, so I know what you are talking about with shoulders.

It was 275 miles one way. Was 5 hrs down and 7 hrs back home because of trucks going so slow and couldn't pass them. But, it was worth it, had so much fun.

So nice to hear that your DH and Ripken are doing well. Enjoy the Nationals play baseball. Hope they win too. ;)

Enjoy the weekend,

Janie

Another beautiful September day in Virginia. Did HIIT 30/30 and STS ab circuit weights and plates this morning. It's a real challenge to do the ab plate work right after ab work with weights, but this time I did not try to keep up with Cathe but rather just do the exercises with good form until I pooped out. Felt that I did better with the slow and steady approach this time around.

Janie--wow, that is 12 hours of driving. I bet you guys were T-I-R-E-D when you got back to Vegas. I'ts great that you can keep up with your workouts while visiting your son. He must have a nice collection of workout equipment although I think you noted at the beginning of your trip that he does not have as heavy weights as you do at home. Is that right?

Okay--I've been put on HOKIE football alert. Time to go root for VT.
~michelle

Did back, triceps and balance today at the gym. Used free weight and machines.

Michelle, Great job on 30/30. I do love those hiit workouts. Also on ab circuit weight and plates this morning. Proper form is essential, good for doing your pace.

We were very tired when we got home. LOL Our son doesn't have such a good collection of free weight and stuff (It's doable though). He's not into that. However we were lucky to be able to use the communities gym. Yea!

Have a good day rooting for VT.

Janie

Glad u r home Janie.. now u need rest from ur vacation lol.

Took rest day yesterday..cleaned house made big pot of potato soup and took it to my husbands work related party. We left house230 came back 900 or so. Had a headache because no sleep that night. So hopefully todayy I'll get a good exercise in. I still Woke up with HA! !! Grr. I took excedrine ( generic brand) waiting on it to rake effect. I think ot is hanging on because it is close to monthly monster .. grrrr.

Hey Everyone! Friday I took a Reformer Class with my original Pilates Mentor and then had privates all day until I needed to get the girls from school. That evening we went to a lively Farm to table Dinner, it's where a chef is invited to a local farm and cooks right there. The table was set outside and we got to watch a beautiful sunset over the Rocky mountains to the west and a glorious almost full moon rise to the east! It was quite the lovely evening. My mom joined us as well. Unfortunately the wine did not sit well with me, and I was miserable all day Sat. And didn't exercise. I have only been drinking on special occasions or sometimes on the weekends and the less I drink the less I seem to be able to tolerate it! :-(. I hate wasting a day like that it just isn't worth it. Sat. Had a sushi dinner for a friends of mines daughters birthday, the girls spent the night with her. I went to bed early and got up early and did Rhythmic Step.

Janie: I missed that you were going to Mexico! Lucky you! Looks heavenly!

Michelle: the DH is doing well actually. Funny I probably only mention him if I am irritated?!??!? Misty is doing great too! I hate that I don't seem to have time to walk her! I am teaching so much....it's hard to do walks on top of all that plus my Cathe workouts! Good job on upping your chest press!

Renee: it is a full time of life! I think I have been having a mild mid life crisis! Thank goodness for my workouts to keep me on track! Are your kids out of HS? Bo and I are on the younger end of the parents in our class, but not by to much. Maybe because it's a private school the parents are older, having focused on career's first family later and now can afford private schooling? Of also some older dad with younger wives...2nd marriages.....

Hi Laura no my boys are out now. That's what makes it weird most people my age are now going through all that and I'm done. Lol I just turned 43. My boys are 22 and 24. So it seems strange anyone I can relate to seems hard to find most my age are still dealing with that type of life and really no time for friends .. I know I didn't. Or they are older then me and dealing with grandkids . I'm in there with no grands thank goodness, not yet. And kids are grown. So I have lots of exercise time.
Lol id love to find friends around here but there hard to find and then hard to trust. The ones that have time are a lot older then me and hard to relate to as far as life. They talk to me a out stuff but its 65 yr olds or older who are widows. Kind of sad. I wish I can fi d friends I. There 40 s that are in the same stage of life as me. Lol strange.

Well today I did athletic training phew ! It was NOT that hard before! Geez I forgot half of what was in there lol. Now that I'm understanding more how they are I may be able to put them in my own rotation .. I didn't remember this having a toning section. Niice workout. U got cardio in beginning, plus compouund moves for toning, and weight work keeps heart rate high, and More toning and core! I remember someone complaining there was no core specific exercises but AT does. I didn't remember that either. Only thing I remember about this one was the step portions then the firewalker for hamstrings and some compound weight moves. Anyway. This workout seems harder today. It may be monthly monster not sure

I think that I did not check in yesterday, but Ripken and I had two nice walks and I did STS disc 23, legs. Today, Ripken and I had another nice morning walk and then I did MMA Boxing. MMAB is not one of my favorites but I used my weighted gloves and that seemed to up the intensity a bit on the arm work. I do love the core work at the end though.:p

Laura: Glad to hear that the WHOLE family is doing well. We need to get you to mention Bo more often when he is just being a regular good guy vice when you are irritated with him. All that exercising that you do, you must be about as thin as a rail and as strong as an ox.

ReneeP: I often wonder if everyone is just so dang busy running around these days that we don't have time/make time for friends. Sometimes I feel like if I don't spend my spare time with Joseph and Ripken that I am cheating them. But having just loss my best girlfriend to cancer last spring (and she was 14 years older than me), I realize that I do need to stop and smell the roses more with some of the amazing women that I know. In that vein, I am having lunch this weeik with a friend/colleague. I haven't done that in a very long time. But I do understand where you are coming from.

Janie: speaking of amazing women...how are you doing? One more week in the Vegas area and then ya'll start heading back toward Washington State. Let us know what exciting travels are ahead on your way back home.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Well not sure what ill do today. I did AT yesterday.
Michelle I love that! Good for u. U know I have thought "a lot, and i am not trying to be morbid but the memories we create isn't just for those left behind in liife, I think a lot and I think memories are so very important to the one leaving this world. That's y I spent a lot of time with my real mother I lost out on many many years as a child with her and Once I found her I was determined to have memories we both would need.
I think as one is leaving this world it is important they have memories "to look back on as they transition from tjis life to the next. I mean I think how sad, and selfish people can be not spending time with loved ones and friends. I mean why deny someone of alittle bit of time? Love is time and action.

I hated that my mom was wishing shed got to see my brother and its sad he knew she was sick for two yrs. He lived in California we were in sc. But he never came in to see her, she never saw him for 15 years. Yet he went on vacations. Sad, she ask me when she was laying there if Bruce was coming.. you can see tears.

Yesterday did nothing but go out on the town. Had a lot of fun. Mostly looking at the most interesting things. Went to a buffet and cheated my one day out of every two weeks I allow my self to.

Laura, Great job on your Reformer Class and doing privates all day. How fun going to a lively Farm to a table dinner. You enjoy some of the most interesting places. Sometimes wine does spoil the next day for ya.:( Also, that sushi dinner sounds wonderful. Great job on RS. I do miss doing that one.

ReneeP, Great job on AT. I know it sneaks up on ya. LOL Cathe really know her stuff.

Michelle, Great job on your walks with Ripken. And disc 23 legs, today's another walk with Ripken then MMA Boxing. Using weighted gloves to make it more intense was a good idea. Yes, I do enjoy that core work at the end.;)

Will be leaving Vegas on the 11th and then we go to Utah to our houseboat. Won't put the houseboat into Lake Powell, but will stay in it like a cabin. Lake Powell's water is way way down. Will most likely sell our old boat, it's just too far to do this any more with gas prices the way they are. If you are interested in it, you can have it for a very low low low low price. We will stay about 2 weeks or so to hunt for dinosaur fossils, petrified wood, agate...hike, ride our bikes...and just hang out for the last time there.

ReneeP, So sad to hear your brother not seeing his mom during her last days.

Take care,

Janie

Oh Janie I thought u were home now! Where did I get that?
Well I wanted to come back and say I got pyramid in the mail and one word! " OUCH "

Oh question do not remember ..how long do you guys think it will be before they are done filming 10 or11 dvds? I think that's how many. Any way I'm curious how much longer we have to wait? So I can get my mind ready to stop thinking about it lol.is it a monthor 2.

Yesterday was a BIG exercise day....yoga, STS chest & Back, pilates & ski conditioning!! Phew body hurts today! Sunday I did Rythmic step.

Today Beginner Pilates & Fusion class tonight!

Super busy getting ready for Mother in law visit starting tomorrow, getting ready for twin sale this weekend, Michaelmass celebration at school Friday, decorating for Halloween....jeez not sure how I am going to do it all! Oh and helping out A local organization with their big annual fund raiser which is on the 12th!

Michelle: i like MMA boxing cause its short and no dread factor...like the core work a lot! Are you liking Sts meso 2 this go @?

Renee: I feel like I am on the other end of the spectrum and ave to many social commitments and demands!! I need to prune them down to the essentials...

Jane: ah the retired life of travel, leisure, art, and fun!,, one day....one day...

So sore today! :) I love it. Pyramid rocks! I did UB yesterday. I think I'm going to do yoga by tamal dodge.
Had to take computer in again I. Just did In july. Grrrr.

Just had to say u can check decorating house for Halloween off my list! Yeah looks cute! I also dis a little spot cleaning and now I can relax a little before teaching tonight!!!

Renee I love PUB!!! PLB not as much and haven't done that one in forever as Cathe has other leg work outs I love!!!!

Today was a full body workout using free weight and machines. While I was on the machine for chest presses and not considering how much the bar weigh, I put on 60 pounds and started my presses. Got it off the tracks and went down to start my presses and couldn't get it back up again. I yelled "Somebody Help Me!" As soon as I yelled that I managed to put it into a lower track. I WAS USING 98 POUNDS! My O My was I embarrassed. Got everyone's attention anyway. Jeesh! I lowered the weight appropriately and continued with my presses.

Here's another zentangle I was working on:
404127507.jpg

Joey started the string for me. It was like a big "S" curve.

ReneeP, Great job on PUB yesterday. Oh no, computer troubles are awful.

Laura, You already decorated your house? This year was quick. Please take a photo of it, I love how you decorate. Enjoy your teaching tonight.

Take care everyone,

Janie

STS disc 24, back and biceps--DONE. Just Cardio Core Circuits tomorrow and then completely done with the Meso2 rotation, but I put the Meso2 case back on the shelf. Looking forward to recovery week and then on to Meso3.

ReneeP: Love the pyramid workouts, particularly the upper body. You will have fun with that workout.

Janie: No thank you-I do not need another boat. I think DH and I are reaching the point of thinking about selling the boat and obtaining a land-based (i.e condo/beach cottage) get-away. BTW, your chest press story really made me laugh. I loved it.

Laura: wow--you are way ahead of the October events power curve. And based on all that you've got going on, it sounds like you need to be. Refresh my memory--where are you now in STS?

Looking forward to some October baseball here in the Nation's capital. Go NATS!
Michelle

Great walk with my sweet pup, Ripken, this morning. A little humid this morining, but not too bad and the walking is good for both of us. Plus I needed the walk to psych myself up for Cardio Core Circuits--which is officially done. As I texted to sister: drop, squat, and roll is just a memory. Tough, tough workout.

Quiet day here at work--just focusing on getting a paper done before I head to California on business travel next week. The plan is to head over to the boat on Friday. I'm looking forward to it.

Hope everyone has a great day.
