Getting Our Licks In!

Yesterday was AT. OMG! So challenging! I couldn't move there for awhile LOL:D, in my puddle of sweat. Whew! Joey should be coming home today. Heater is now fixed as well.

Hope everyone is caught up on the Holidays. Enjoy the special time.

Yesterday was a super busy work day. I was at Quantico all day--up and out too early to exercise and too tired when I got home. Somehow, I knew that was going to be the case. I was supposed to be back at Quantico this morning for more meetings, but they got cancelled or moved to later in the day. So--didn't go to Quantico today. Came back home, did a little work, exercised (yeah! Muscle Max today) and then showered for the second time today. I'm trying to figure out how to do ebooks on my iphone. So far, I've downloaded the app--next is searching the elibrary for books and trying to "borrow" one. I'll let ya'll know how that goes.

Janie: I had a vague memory that you all do not decorate for Christmas but I wasn't sure. You are right--it is alot of work--putting it up and taking it down. Sounds like you enjoyed doing a little different workout. Good for you.

Laura: Bet it is a bit warmer in Atlanta than it was in Colorado. I'm loving this warmer weather--hope it lasts right through spring. But I know it will not. I agree with you about the upper body portion of Turbobarre, but I was thinking if I used dumbbells instead of the band, I might feel like I'm getting more of a workout. But the Turbobarre workout is really all about the legs, don't you think?

Yesterday we were taken to the Peidmont Driving Club for lunch and then the most amazing performance of the Christmas Carol. It made me cry. The costumes, set, singing and performance were so well done. The actor who played Ebenizer Scrooge has been doing the role for 17 years now with that company so he had it down pretty darn good. We were gone pretty much from 11 until 6 though so i didn't get a workout in. Thats two days in a row, so I need to get on my game! I am doing ok with food for the most part, passing on most treats, but still even the occasional treats and less working out and more drinking all add up to MORE!! Right?

Today I did MMA KB which has never been one of my favorite Cathe KB routines but it is easy to travel with KB since you don't need any equipment, but I forgot KMax and 4DS KB which are two of my favorites.

Janey: sounds like your picking up your workouts! Good for you during this busy time of year. Glad the heater is fixed, ours just broke at home and doesn't look like it can get fixed before Bo leaves tomorrow, so he is going to have to drain all the pipes back so they don't freeze, they got 28 inches last night!!!:eek: Kinda glad that I am not there...that's to much snow to even ski it so don't mind missing it!

Michelle: are you out of town again? When do you get off work?

Happy Holidays everyone!

Yesterday was AT. OMG! So challenging! I couldn't move there for awhile LOL:D, in my puddle of sweat. Whew! Joey should be coming home today. Heater is now fixed as well. I haven't had a cold for a long long time, but wouldn't you know it, I have one now and just in time for Christmas. I think it's going to be a doozy. Must have caught it when I was shopping for sweaters and stuff.

Michelle, Great job on MM. I love that workout! One of my favorites. Also for house work? Maybe work work. I'm trying to do better with the exercises, thanks for noticing.

Laura, Sounds like you enjoyed The Christmas Carol if it made you cry. That was so cool that you were took out for such a special event. Great job on MMA KB. Yep, you noticed to I'm picking up exercises when I can get them in. Hopefully I can continue with that, not easy. Your heater broke too? Good thing you won't be home while that is going on.

Stay warm and safe you two,

Janie

So--I figured out today that if I have a question on how to do something on my iphone, just ask a teenager. My neighbor's 14-year old son figured out how to download ebooks from the public library. Ends up that I didn't have the right app, but I do now.;) Had a really nice dinner and visit with my aunt, uncle, cousin and his wife last night. Spent the day finishing wrapping gifts and tidying things up around the house. I found a media bookcase at Staples for all my Cathe dvds. I will put that together tomorrow. Exercise today was KPC--lots of fun AND I got through all the plank roll-ins and inverted pikes on the stability ball--my inverted pikes were a little shallow on the last two but I hung in there.:p Thank-you big-time Cathe!

Janie: I agree with you, Athletic Training is a tough workout. Particularly the cardio in the beginning. Get some extra sleep and take some extra vitamin C to help kick that cold. I'm with you, just hate getting a cold.

Laura: the Christmas Carol performance sounds like it was wonderful. I love going to the theatre but just don't do it--my DH is not a fan of the fine arts which is a shame because we have so much access to great performances in the DC area. 28 inches of snow! That is alot of snow--glad it is out west where foliks enjoy it and know how to deal with it. But I do hope your DH gets safely to Atlanta for Christmas.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve--a day to enjoy and relax. I will go to Christmas mass with my neighbors tomorrow evening--it's kind of becoming a neighbor tradition for us.

Hope everyone is gearing up for a Merry Christmas.

Days keep running into each other. So sorry for not posting yesterday. I truly thought I did. Still sick with a cold and didn't workout. Doing a Zentangle for Joey's Christmas present. Almost done with it. Zentangle is a bunch of doodling that forms into unique patterns. Should be done with it tonight and will take a photo of it to share.

Michelle, LOL, I agree, teenagers know how to work the new technology stuff.:D Sounds like you will be reading lots of books. Glad you enjoyed your get-together with family and finding a media bookcase for Cath's DVD's I think I need to do something like that too. Good job on KPC. Congrats on getting through the blank roll-in and inverted pikes. Yikes! Enjoy the traditional Christmas mass with your neighbors.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. Love each other and stay healthy, enjoy everything and everyone around you.

Not quite as busy today as yesterday. Ripken and I took a really long walk this morning (over an hour!). It was good walking weather for him, a little cool for me, but I was bundled up. After making breakfast, I ran up to Walmart to get a prescription and french vanilla ice cream to go with the apple pie. Took 15 minutes, there and back. The Walmart is only about 2 miles from my house and it was busy--but I parked in the way out area of the parking lot, strolled in, got my ice cream, zipped over to the pharmacy, no wait--got my script and paid for it and my ice cream, then back out and home. Not too shabby. Tidied up a few things and then did HIIT 30/30. Love those HIITs--particularly when they are over. Put together my media shelf and now all my Cathe dvds are nicely organized on their new media shelves. Moved all my workout "extras" into my storage bin that once held the dvds and now things are a little more under control. Watching the Redskins play Minnesota. Close game.

Janie: I am sorry to hear that you are still sick with a cold. Pooh. You are so creative. I have never heard of zentangle. I am looking forward to seeing what you have made for Joey.

Merry Christmas Eve to everyone. May your weekend be filled with love, peace, and joy.
Michelle

Probably won't have time tomorrow to post so I'll do all the catch up today.

Michelle, I love long walks with Rolly. But of course our weather here in Shelton is not walking weather, only at the beach, thank goodness. At least he gets some exercise in. Good job on your walk with Ripken. I'm glad you weren't delayed at Walmart, it could have been very busy for you. You got in there just at the right time. Great job on Hitt 30/30 and putting together your shelve. It's must be so nice to have everything organized. Good for you. Enjoy the Redskins and Minnesota, ice cream and apple pie. I'll take a picture tonight when I'm done so you can see what a zentangle is. There are many out there that are spectacular.

Here is the photo of a zentangle I promised to share for Joey's Christmas present. Odd I know, but it is an art form. I hope he will like it. If he doesn't I'll put it in my bedroom at the beach house or save it as a beginning piece of zentangles. This is just an ordinary one, you should see the ones that people are experienced at with this art. Joey's name is in this. (Joey) Can you see it? It's more detailed in person, the photo just doesn't bring it to life. Also however a person looks at it, upside down, or sideways...and see's something interesting, then that's the way to hang it up.

Merry Christmas!!
Parties, Parties, Parties!:D:confused::p:rolleyes: We went to one of the most amazing parties last night for Christmas Eve. It is in one of the most beautiful old Atlanta Homes that sits on 15 acres and is a 1920's Mansion surrounded by the most beautiful landscaping you can imagine, the party was in the Ballroom with seating for 80 people. Honestly it is nicer than any place I have ever seen. Santa came to see all the kids and give them a present. Than Bo and I were up lated doing all the little things that need to be done for Christmas. Luckily I did get a chance to do a quick HIIT, got to love to have those super high intensity but super quick workouts for days like yesterday!

Today has been very lovely, with a Christmas brunch for family and a few family friends, and presents and stockings from Santa. The girls are now playing with some of their new gifts.

I didn't get a workout in today but hope to tomorrow.

Michelle: Yesterday we popped in quickly to a neighbors house to see her 10, yes 10 Christmas trees, and they were the most amazing trees I have ever seen, each decorated with a particular theme in mind. Since the war began she does a special patriotic tree that made me think of you, I took some photos and will figure out how to post it so you can see it. Glad you are still exercising and now have a new shelf for your DVD"s that is nice!

Janie: I love your zentagram! I haven't heard of them either but I love to 'doodle' so maybe I should try one! I'm sure Joey will love it! I couldn't see his name anywhere! It must be well hidden OR blatantly obvious!

Hope you both had a great day with your loved ones!!

We had so much fun during Christmas. I gave some of my web paper jewelry away. I brought all of it over and they went through it and took one set that they really loved. There was even bracelets that the guys picked out. It was great! Joey and I got gift cards from Home Depot, Starbucks and Kolhl's. Very cool! Also one of our son's gave us a door mat with a picture of a beach house with McBride (our last name) on it. And the food was so wonderful! But the family get together was the best of all.

Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretches.

Update: Great news: Joey and I won a Proform 290 SPX Spinning bike on Ebay. It cost us $160.19. WooHoo! The cheapest we saw was at Walmart for $299.54.

Laura, Your romantic and most wonderful event in the mansion must have been exquisite! Something to remember for the rest of your life. Great job on doing a HIIT workout. They are very convenient aren't they? Good for you. I too had a great time Christmas day. Joey did seem to love the zentangle I did for him. If you are interested in them you can learn about them and do one. Anyone can make up one, it's not hard at all and very therapeutic and almost meditative way to relax. It's a lot of fun.:) tanglepatterns.com or zentan or this one

www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4Nlz4XMxcs

Lots of info on the internet about them.

I would say Joey's name is well hidden.

Try a zentangle. If you like doing them want to try, starting Jan. 1, 2012, a zentangle a day with me? It could be a lot of fun, and I'd say very interesting. Just a thought. Or maybe once a week? Monthly or when ever you can? Perhaps using 4"X4" or 5"X5" of heavier white paper.

Enjoy today and hope it's relaxing,

Janie

It has been a couple of days since I checked it. Took a day off from exercise on Christmas. Had a wonderful day. Joe' son and wife came over for Christmas dinner. Joe made prime rib and twice baked potatoes. I did the salad. Very, very nice dinner.

Drove over to my parents yesterday and I am here a few days visiting. Sister and I did STS disc 6, Legs this morning. Sister is doing STS so we are sticking with her STS workout program while I am here. Tomorrow is supposed to be Maximum Intensive Cardio but neither sister or I are excited about doing MIC--so we will probably opt for something else. We've spent part of the day updating stuff on my parents PC and ipad. My dad's ipad needs to be update to the IOS 5 operating system. We thought we had figured out how to do this, but the update was not occurring. Turns out, my parents don't have itunes on their new pc and that needs to be installed first, then we hook the ipad to the pc via the USB port, and then we can do the system upgrade. Whewsh!

Janie: Your zentangle looks very intricate. It is hard to see Joey's name in it. I think I can see parts but not the whole thing. Nice win on the spin bike--does that mean you will be trying Cathe's cyclemax workout soon?

Laura: Sounds like you and your family are having a nice holiday break in Atlanta. Those HIIT workouts are great aren't they?

~michelle

Today I used the treadmill. Didn't have to think, just went as fast as I could for about a min. then two min. walk then fast for a min. Continued that way for 20 min. Whenever you guys want to try a zentangle then that's when to do it. No special time, just enjoy doing something for the first time.;)

Michelle, When we get the bike and set it up, that's the first DVD I'm doing with it. Can't Wait! Your dinner sounds so goooooood. It's really nice being with family. Can't beat that. So nice to have someone do STS's with someone. Technology is Joey's job to get it going, once that's done, I just play. LOL

Have a good one,

Janie

Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretches today.

Nothing new today, just a rainy lazy day after the workout. Will play computer games or zentangle.

Janie

So not doing so great as usual on exercise while on vacation....oh well...

Yesterday we drove up to the TN mountains to my SIL family's mountain home and visited with my side of the family. It was really nice and relaxed, we did take a 'hike' to a waterfall, but as my girls said it was more like a short walk than a hike!;) At least we moved a little..It is very pretty in the Appalachian Mountains a quieter more subtle beauty than the Rockies, but I grew up hiking them and I have a lot of fond memories of those hills!

Today I thought I would double up on my workouts to make up for lost time and I did MMA Fusion and MMA Boxing. It was a good workout and much needed.

My DH left today and we leave day after tomorrow. I am really looking forward to going home, their are a lot of weird dynamics here in the family, and especially between the my husband and his siblings with their step mother and apparently Bo's Brother and her had a terrible fight last night while we were gone and now she is very angry and upset and not fun to be around:( Oh well what can you do?

Got my calendar today. Noticed that Cathe must of had implants put in. She is much bigger than usual. She looks good.

Laura, I'm not doing very well on the eating part either. Just a few more days and the holidays will be behind us and then can concentrate on our health. So nice to be with family during the holidays, isn't it. TN mountains sounds so much fun. Great job on MMA Fusion & MMA Boxing. So sorry to hear the siblings are fighting. Not fun for you at all. I hope they mend their differences.

Janie

Cleaned most of house today. Vacuumed, laundry, dishes, damp moped floors. It needed it so badly!

Take care everyone,

Janie

Missed checking in yesterday. Sister and I did Cardio & Weights step premix. It was fun. Sister is doing great with her exercise. I know she gets frustrated feeling like she is starting over after her ACL/MCL surgery and recovery, but I keep telling her it is more like getting reacquanted with all of Cathe's workouts. Today was her break day and I left my parents at 8am to drive home. Got home a little after 11 am. I was starving, so after unloading my vehicle and unpacking a little, I had some lunch, then worked on a paper. Took a break and walked Ripken--so nice to be home with my two boys. I sure do miss the puppy walkabouts when I am away. Came back from our walk and worked a little more then I did Slide and Glide. Boy, my legs are feeling the workouts this week. I figured I would just pick up with the December rotation workout for today. After working out, I did a little more work, then showered and took my sweet pup for another walk.

The next few days will be more of the same routine: walk the pup, exercise, work a little, and relax.

Laura: I always figure a trip home isn't complete without a disagreement of some sort. That's just the way families are. Doesn't mean you don't love your family, just that you don't always agree--and sometimes those disagreements are fairly emotional. Life goes on. But, I know what you mean about looking forward to going back to your own home.

Janie: Vacuuming is on my "to do" list tomorrow. Just one of those chores that has to be done every couple of days, isn't it?

Sweet dreams everyone!
~michelle

Michelle, LOL:D I do vacuuming every couple of weeks!:) Great job on Cardio & Weights step premix. Tell Renee it is like getting reacquainted with exercise. Very well put. Also glad you got in some walking a couple of times with Ripken. What a pup! I bet it is so nice to be home.

Sweet dreams to you and and everyone else,

Janie

Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretches. Also my GERD has been acting up big time. Scarry! Decided to treat myself with fine food made for GERD. Feels much better today. I can't stop this, this is the way I have to eat from now on. It scared me it hurt so bad. So glad the holidays are over for me. I abused my poor tummy so badly.
Now, to get healthy again with proper nutrition and exercise.:(:eek::rolleyes:

Take care everyone,

Janie

Another nice day here. I just hope the rest of winter is like the past month--more springlike than winterlike. Ripken and I had a nice walk this morning. Not a long walk but a medium walk. I like to ease him back into our walks after I've been away a few days. Had to take my SUV to get it inspected this morning. Nothing like waiting until the last day of the year, but we got there right when the place opened, so DH and I just dropped it off and they called a couple hours later to come pick it up. Did turbobarre today--my legs were just shaking like crazy toward the end of the standing barre work--crazy good workout. Love the ab work.

Janie: sorry to hear that your GERD is flaring up. Sounds like you are working on getting it under control. We all treat ourselves to a little bit of good eating during the holidays, but that just means we have to work harder exercising in the new year! As Cathe would say: Are you ready?
