Getting Our Licks In!

Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretching.

Michelle, Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving. Great job on TBT. I like the way you think about Rolly. Makes since to me. LOL:D I've seen what Ripken did on TV once. It's sooooo cute!

Great job on today's S&G cardio only and the blast from LIC. I think I'd like to do that one soon, S&G.

Take care,

Janie

Baking a turkey today for Joey. He seems not to have enough. I'll also boil the bones to make broth for soups.

Did you all have a great Thanksgiving?

Thursday we spent 2 hours in the ferry line and missed to boats. We were hoping instead of driving that would be better. It was windy and raining all the time. Got to the kids Thanksgiving dinner, but had to leave soon after that. We got home about 10 pm. Luckily the weather wasn't as bad during the drive home.

Enjoy the weekend,

Janie

So it turns out that even though I thought my legs were going to fall off on Saturday when I was doing TurboBarre, my legs actually felt better afterwards. Go figure. Today I did total body trisets upper body which means that I am done with the November rotation. Cathe hasn't posted the Dec rotation yet, so I'm thinking I'll go back to week two of the Nov rotation and do the workouts that I "missed" while in California that week. Or I might just do what I want to do for the week. Guess I'll decide in the morning.

Janie: sorry you had a rough time catching the ferry. They can be great time savers, unless, of course, you miss the dang thing. Traffic around here has been crazy last week and into the weekend. We have stayed away from the interstate. Things should get back to "normal" by Tuesday.

Laura: I saw the picture of the theatre that you posted while waiting for the Nutcracker performance to begin. What a beautiful venue? How did Eliza do?

We are still enjoying spring time weather, but it is not supposed to last too much longer. 70+ degrees outside today--and yes, it is Nov 27. Got to love living below the Mason-Dixon line.

Froze lots of turkey for soups and stuff. Crocheted the same oval rug but this time I think I did it right. Still no pattern, but we'll see. Will be at the beach house tomorrow and leave late the next day. No internet connection, so will catch up with all then.

Michelle, So glad your legs feel better even with the tough workout. You never know. Wow, Spring weather still? You are sooooo lucky. We are having rain and wind storms. Enjoy your beautiful weather.

Wow what a hectic time for me! With my mother put of town it was up to Bo and I to get Eliza to all her rehearsals and prepare to host Thanksgiving at our house for 15! Then straight into a weekend of performances. Eliza did great, she said she felt nervous until she got on stage... Guess all those Rehearsals pay off!

A person in our community committed suicide in our small towns grocery parking lot on Thanksgiving day which of course was upsetting for many many people. He started a music festival called Ned Fest that has done a lot to bring people & Revenue to our town. Sunday night there was a large memorial concert for him. There were over 300 people there.

Last night my DH and I were invited to a private dinner party in town at one of the local Resturants that had an insane amount of food, very decedent food too!

So with all that happening my workouts have suffered as well as my waistline I'm afraid!! Ready to eat simple and work hard until I leave for Atlanta on Dec 17th

Got home, and we are soooooo tired. Did lots of work, but still it doesn't show that much. I was painting the ceiling and had to get up and down the ladder many many times. It felt like an aerobic workout. More of the same next week. Joey will go after our exercises on Wedn. I'm staying home. I can only manage once a week. He's a go getter.:)

Here is a photo of my rug that I took apart and put back together again. It turned out so much better. No puckering! Yea!

Laura, I know what you mean about a hectic time. Me too! Oh well, better perhaps next year. I bet you are so proud of Eliza. She must have been spectacular.:) Such awful news about the person in your community. That must have been disconcerting for you. I'm so sorry. He seemed to have so many friends. My brother committed suicide and you just have to wonder "WHY!:( It also sounds like you had special time with hubby. Good for you. Don't worry any longer about your weight or exercise too much. After the holidays, things will go back to normal. Just try as best you can, but don't fret about it.

Take care everyone,

Janie

This morning I was going to meet a friend for a dance class but she got sick and I decided to try going for a jog. I haven't ran since last spring and thought I would give it a try again. I did pretty good I only ran 2.40 miles but I learnt my lesson last spring where my first run I did 4 miles, feeling great, but could hardly walk the next day!:rolleyes: Every activity is slightly different or greatly different how it uses your body so it is good to ease into them! Anyway it did feel pretty good especially considering 3 years ago I couldn't run that far with out stopping!

Tonight is my Total Tone Class which will be some kind of full body weightlifting class, not sure what yet....

I have private clients down here in Boulder soon and having lunch with a friend before hand.

Going to hit the slopes tomorrow for the first time! Will let you know how that goes...

Janie: cute pic!! It's like Rolly is showing off the rug for you! Yes very busy and about to get busier. I am sorry to hear about your brother, it is such a sad ending for people left behind. Michigan Mike was that guy that everyone new but really didn't have any close friends, but he did a lot for the community so that is why there was such a big turn out I think....so sad...

Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretches today. Tomorrow and Friday Joey will be at the beach house. I'm going to catch up with a couple of Cathe's new DVD's. I'll go through them and pick them out tonight. I'm thinking Slide and Glide for one.:D

Laura, Great job on running 2.40 miles. You did just right for not doing it for awhile. I know what you mean when you over exercise, IT HUETS! With better weather and the beach I'll get there without stopping too. A goal, I think. Enjoy your private lesson, friend, and especially the slopes. It should be a lot of fun for you. Prayers both to Michigan Mike and my brother.

Take care,

Janie

Did Slide and Glide today. OMG! Loved it! It is truly more different from any workout I've done. For some reason my left foot hurt in some of the moves. I don't know why, (been hurting for the last couple of days) but was extra careful just in case. Tomorrow will be somethin... just don't know which one yet, but need to use weight.

Take care,

Janie

Gosh, it's been a busy week. I've stuck to my exercising but just have not had time to check in. Did Step Moves on Wednesday, PowerHour yesterday, and Step Blast today. After a month of the new series, I feel stronger and I feel like endurance has increased. Who would have thought a low impact training serieis could do that. I highly recommend Cathe's November rotation that is all from the new low impact series. Really fantastic. I am hoping that Cathe posts a December rotation.

Laura: So sorry to hear about the member of your community. It sounds like even though he did alot for the community, he was very troubled. Very very sad. I am happy to hear that Eliza danced well--the performance was in such a beautiful theater (saw the pictures you posted on FB), I bet the surroundings were inspirational to the children.

Janie: The rug that you took apart and put back together looks beautiful--Rolly does a good job showing off your handiwork. He is so darn cute (and I am not a little dog person).

I worked on putting the tree together this evening--somehow I never had time during the week to do so. Ripken gets so excited about Christmas, he was right there keeping an eye on me. He'll get to watch more tomorrow because I still am not done.

Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend.

Did After Burn today. OMG! I don't know what else to tell you. Well, beside sweating like a pig and it's a very hard workout. I didn't have Dixie cups so used plastic cups instead. This workout didn't make me look good at all.

Michelle, Aw, having fun with Christmas decorations. Give Ripken a hug for me and enjoy. You have been very busy with your workouts. Good for you.

Later,

Janie

Cathe posted her December rotation late this week. Looks like a doozy. I will start it on Monday. Until then, I'm winging it. Did Legs and Glutes today--been a long time since I did that one. It was fun. I stuck with Cathe on all her weight amounts which I think was a first for me on this workout. I was sweating up a storm. May take a break tomorrow and head to Fredericksburg to do some Christmas shopping. Don't have much left to do and I'd like to get my "mall" shopping done.

Janie: you are correct, afterburn is not an easy workout. Just because they are low impact sure doesn't mean they are easy. Got the house decorated but hit a snag with my artificial tree. The lights on the top piece are not all lighting up. I may just put another strand of lights on tomorrow and roll with it because I think I've got a bad wire. Need to roll on.

Sister posted some pictures on FB of Chelsea marching in the local Christmas parade today. Her high school has really a very good marching band.

My doctor son Dan is engaged to Janelle. They will be eloping to Italy. Isn't that romantic? Didn't do much all day except went through my crochet patterns. I found a couple of patterns I want to do for the beach house. A carnation like wash cloths and Irish Rose. I don't know yet what I'll be doing with the Irish Rose, but I made one up for the first time and there is a lot of possibilities. (such a pretty pattern) Will be selling a lot of my patterns on E-Bay, because I won't have time to crochet them all, so just cleaning out things. I kept my favorites. Went through half today, will save the other half for another day.

Michelle, I saw Cathe's Dec. rotation. Yikes! Sounds great. Great job on legs and glutes. That is so cool that you kept up with Cathe. You are getting stronger yet again. Very proud of you. Enjoy your shopping this weekend and the Christmas tree. I'm sure all will be beautiful. Will look at Renee's FB to see Chelsea marching in the parade. How sweet.

Stay safe shopping,

Janie

Took a break today from exercise. Cathe didn't give many/any breaks on the Nov rotation and it felt weird to take a break, but I figured I'm going to need it as I prepare to start the Dec rotation.

Janie: congratulations to your son. That is very exciting news; when are they going to Italy? So, are you thinking of trying Cathe's December rotation? It does look tough, doesn't it? I have to admit the reason I like Cathe's rotations is that she does all the hard work figuring out how to sequence the workouts to get the best resulsts. Plus, I don't have to decide which workout to do next.

Working on decorating the tree today. I'm a little over half-way through my ornaments. I put a couple dozen on the tree then go do something else, then I do a few more. Might get it done today, if not today, later in the week. I have a trip to North Carolina this week (Tuesday to Thursday), so it's going to be a fast work week.

~michelle

Spent all day putting crochet patterns up for auction in Ebay. I only have 9 items and it took me all day. Jeesh! Oh well. It's all set up now and will be easier to place more auction items in the future.

Michelle, I agree in taking a break before the Dec. rotation. Enjoy. The wedding isn't set yet, but I think it will be the Summer of next year. No rotation this month, but seriously thinking of Cathe's January 2012 rotation. Yes, Dec. rotation really looks hard/challenging. Good Luck, and all the more power to you. Literally.;) Like you, I love rotations too because of not having to figure it all out. Enjoy decorating the tree. You are doing it right. North Carolina sounds wonderful. It must be nice to travel every now and then. Enjoy.

Take care and enjoy your travels,

Janie

Day one of the December rotation: Athletic training. The sweat sure does fly on this one. The cardio at the beginning is pretty intense--short, sweet, and sweat. The circuit exercises keep the heartrate going. Love this workout.
I notice that Cathe is mixing in stretches throughout--not sure if that is a good sign or not, but I'm sure it will be beneficial.

~michelle

Been putting more layers on the cast iron. It's good so far, still can't fry an egg without it sticking, YET. I'm gettin there. ;) Here is a photo of my latest throw rug. It's for the kitchen at the beach house. Like the last one, I used scraps of fabric and yarn. In this one (in one area) I used brown and black ribbon with yarn. It's just below the dark brown.

Michelle, Great job on day of Dec. rotation, AT. I think stretches between exercises is a good thing. I know I need them. LOL

Thanks guys for holding the thread together!! Looks like it was last Wed. When I checked in last, so some catch-up time:

Friday: my first ski day!!! Woo-hook it was an awesome day, warm with fresh snow! I got to ski with some bad-@ss tele skiers, who I have wanted to ski with for a couple years but always felt I wasn't in their league, but I not only skied with them but could totally hang with them! I felt great, much stronger! As far as pure strength I did actually did better than some of the others and did 6 runs some top to bottom which is a much better than where I started last year, when I think I did only 3 runs 1st day....so very proud and happy about that!

Saturday:I had my graduation from my first year at the Star House house which was a long but sweet and precious day but no exercise
(also juggling the Winterfaire at the girls school and getting Eliza to her performance which this weekend is way out in Longmont.)

Sunday: had stayed down at my moms so I took Eliza to her last performance back to mom's and did Yoga Max than picked Eliza up and that evening was the cast party but unfortunately there was a big snow storm so for us it was an eat and run scenario because we had to get up the canyon, which was definitely in the top 10 hairiest drives up that mountain.the visibility was so bad you couldn't tell where the road was, but made it home safe.

Monday: I did cancel my evening classes because our road isnt plowed and with the negative temps I didn't want to risk getting stuck and having to walk home in the dark so I did STS M2W1 Legs, Core Max with the Med ball and Stretch Max with the fit ball. I had some good DOMS from Yoga Max in my lats, obliques, and shoulders.

Tuesday: Pilates class, only 3 made it and luckily they are all pretty strong so I was able to throw in some more intermediate exercises which they enjoyed. Than I did STS M2W1 Chest, Shoulders and Tri's.

So I think that catches me up, lots of other stuff going on, but since this is such a long post already I leave it for another time......

Did Imax2 and the first stretch from Total Body Stretching this morning. Then on the road to NC where I will be for the next couple of days.

Laura: good to hear from you. You have been a busy mom/person. How many performances is Eliza doing? I thought it was a one shot deal, but it sounds like there are many--is that correct?

Janie: your rug looks so nice. Can't wait to see a picture of it in your beach house.

Okay ladies--not much else going on and for some reason the wifi keeps bouncing me off here at the hotel, so I'm keeping this short and sweet and hoping I don't lose what I've typed so far.
~michelle

Still nice and warm here in NC--mid 70s today but a good stiff wind off the ocean. It's supposed to rain at some point and turn cooler in the next 12 hours or so. We'll see about the rain. Did Slide and Glide early this morning and then off to a day of meetings. Got done a little early so I've been able to catch up on work email and make it here to our check in. Hope to hear from the rest of ya'll soon. This is a busy time of year, I hope everyone can still save their exercise time.
