Getting Our Licks In!

Did The Wedding video today. It was great! It's been a long time.

Michelle, You are so lucky to be getting nice weather. Great job on the med. walk with Ripken. Good that you got the SUV serviced. Also great job on Turbo Barre today. I bet your legs were shaking. That workout is a really good one on those butts and legs. My GERD is in control again. Thank goodness. I hope to never to that to myself again. Jeesh! I'm so READY to bring in the new year with a plan.

Happy New Year everyone,

Janie

Happy New Year my fellow check-in friends! Wow--another year behind us and another year of workouts ahead of us. Sounds good to me. Yesterday was a busy day--started with a little house cleaning and phase 1 of packing up and putting away Christmas decorations. Did Body Max 2--love the cardio and circuits--really had to move to keep up with Cathe and the gang through the upper body section. DH and I went to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner last night. It is a local restaurant and one of the best in Fredericksburg. The owners just completed an addition to the place a few months ago--we ate in the new dining room but decided we like the older sections better. The new dining room is very elegant but the older sections are more cozy. The food was excellent, as always.

This morning after walking Ripken and making breakfast, I took down the outside Christmas decorations. So phase 2 of putting up the decorations is over. Just have to do the tree--I'll work on that tomorrow. Exercise today was YogaMax.

Downloaded two library books to my Kindle. I'm loving my new little piece of technology. I got a free month of Amazon Prime with my Kindle Fire--need to figure out what that is all about. Supposed to have access to free movies, books, and games on Amazon. Just need to figure out the "how" part.

Janie: Cathe's wedding video is one of those oldies but goodies (according to all the posts) that I don't have. Guess my only chance is if I come across one up for sale on ebay. But right now, I am feeling like I have plenty of workouts to do, that is for sure. You are correct, we have been very fortunate to have spring like weather. One of my neighbor's daffodils are up and about ready to bloom. BUT it is supposed to get cold the next few days, so that will put a hurt on the daffodils.

Hope everyone has a great January 1st.

Been waiting for Cathe to post her Jan. rotation, but she hasn't yet. So, Joey and I did TBS, abs and stretches. I would like to send you all something in the mail in the next couple of days. It's a surprise. I lost my address book, so please e-mail me your address again, please. I think you will all be pleasantly surprised.

Michelle, It's nice to clean and put away the holidays. Now for a fresh start. Great job on BM2. Glad you enjoyed the remodeled restaurant. I think familiarity is best and cozy. Also I see more enjoyment walking with Ripken. What a lucky doggie. Great job on Yoga Max. I love my Kindle as well. How do you like the Fire so far?

Take care and remember to e-mail me your address,

Janie

Cathe put up the rotations today and I started it by doing Tuesday's LIS. Reallly, this was very fast for me. I modified horribly and did 30 min. of it. I hope one day I can almost catch up with them. LOL:D Oh! I'm doing STS/LIS One Month Total Body Recharge.

Enjoy!

Janie

I have been spending the last few days settling back into my house, cleaning it up, putting everything away from Christmas and our trip and getting ready to have people over for New Years Day for Hopping John Beans. Today was my first day back at work and got there early to do STS M1W1D1. I did all the push ups from my toes which is quite the feat for me!!!

I was thinking of doing a 31/2 STS Rotation with the Shock Cardio which is what I have done the last two NEw Years, but think I might check out the January Rotation.

Michelle: yes you are probably right that all families have their issues, and they are terribly emotional while they happen. :-(. Oh well what can you do? Looks like you are enjoying the weather and keeping up with your workouts. How fun to work out with your sister!

Janie: good job on tackling LIS! Any bit helps right? Oh a gift! Thanks so much!

Joey and I did TBS with abs. I only used a 5 pound dumbell just to warm up. Then later tonight I did 30 min. on the treadmill. I went to one of my daughters house for dinner and when we got back I planed for yoga too, but time ran out.

Laura, Getting back to normal is hard, but once there it's worth it. Great job on STS M1W1D1. Especially all the push ups on toes. Good for you!

Take care,

Janie

I planned on doing STS Total Body, but my Dad wanted to visit. He's 87 soon to be 88. He doesn't know how to get here, so gave my sister an attachment to her email to give dad the directions to get here. My Dad gives no warnings when he wants to visit people. As I thought, he got lost. My worse worry didn't happen, thank God! He was brought up in a different era and that's what they did in those days. Well, couldn't sleep worrying about him (he doesn't read well, and he looses track, he's old). May have had a few hours. Any hoo, He left at 7:00am this morning and waited until 3:30 this afternoon for him to meet At Walmart as directed in my attachment. It should only take 4 hours to get here, maybe a little longer. If I know my Dad, he will be leaving very soon. Wish he would stay longer. We had such a wonderful visit the last time. But since he has transportation, he'll leave when he wants to and I'm sure it will be really really soon. I love him so much, but he wears me completely out. So, I didn't exercise today. My poor Daddy.

Take care,

Janie

Didn't workout today. Dad decided to go home (as I expected) so I took him about the 1/3 the way home until I knew he was familiar the rest of the way to get home. He is such an unsettled soul. Next time I hope to have him without his vehicle. He still on the waiting list for an apartment, and still lives with Joy. I called her and while we were talking, he pulled up the driveway. I know he is safe and sound. I remember worrying about my little ones when they were young, and it's the same worry with aging parents. I know they use to worry about me too, the same way.

Tomorrow I will be baby sitting my grandson, but Joe can take him while I do exercises. He will stay the night and leave tomorrow.

Take care,

Janie

Wow--what happened to me this week? First week of the year, back to work, and it just flew by. I am doing the first month of Cathe's January Transformation Rotation. I started it on Wednesday. So far, so good. The rotation mixes STS workouts with the new workouts from the Low Impact Series. I am enjoying the STS workouts--today was STS disc 18, back and biceps. I'm trying to challenge myself and kick my weight amounts up a few pounds on the STS workouts.

Janie: you've pretty much been holding down the fort this week. Thanks for keeping things going even though you have been busy. I can't believe your dad is still driving at age 87/88--I'd be worried too. Of course, my dad is 82 and my mom is 78 and they are both still driving, but not so much at night--and they mostly drive in their local area.

Laura: Cathe posted two rotations for January--are you doing one of them or going with the 3 1/2 month STS rotation? Sister is doing the 3 1/2 month STS rotation and just finished week 3. You haven't talked about your pup in a while--how is she doing? Ripken will be turning 11 next week on the 15th--he still loves his walkabouts. Today, we took about a 3 mile walk--we don't tear up the sidewalk and it took almost an hour and a half, but he sure did enjoy it.

I promose to do better this week with my checkins. Hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful weekend--it was almost 70 here today! Crazy stuff but I'll take it any day in January (or February for that matter).

Haven't exercised yet. I will tonight when our little one goes home. What a doll baby he is. I love him sooooooo much! Tomorrow is a yearly check up day with my doctor. Then will go to the beach house I think on Tuesday. Will take very long walks while we are over there. Just a couple of days.

Michelle, Cathe's rotations are awesome, aren't they? Enjoy The Transformation Rotation. Challenging and lifting heavier weight is a good plan. I need some time to myself to do workouts daily. If you know what I mean.

You are having such good weather! I'm jealous, but glad someone is enjoying their weather.

Janie

Another nice day in the Mid-Atlantic--not as warm as yesterday, but still above normal for January. As I told sister yesterday, I'll take a 50+degree day in January all month long. No problem. Ripken and I did a short walk this morning--he seems to like to rotate the days, one day a long walk, the next day a short walk. I guess he needs a "recovery" day. LOL! Today I wrestled the tree down, got it folded up and tucked away in its big box down in the basement. That was my workout before my workout: Low Impact Challenge. Love that workout, but still don't quite have that 4th step routine down pat--it's still fun though!

Janie: I know that you like to exercise with Joey--but I understand what you are saying about needing to find some time by yourself to exercise. Glad you enjoyed spending time with your little guy. Hope all goes well at the doctor tomorrow--no surprises.

DH and I are trying to figure out what we want to do for a winter vacation this year. Someplace warm--just not sure where.

I'm enjoying my kindle fire--I need to check if my iphone earbuds work with it. That will save me some money if I don't have to by another set.

Bizarre weather day: it is snowing. Not amounting to anything but not what the weatherman indicated for the day--supposed to be cloudy with a chance of light rain. That is the way the weather rolls sometimes....Ripken and I had a nice long walk this morning--no snow--just a little cool. Good for a morning walkabout. Then I did Afterburn. And my legs are now feeling the afterburn.;)

Hope everyone is having a good day and getting their licks in!

Hey!! Sorry I've been MIA! I came home and got sick as a dog!:(

I was so ready to get back in the swing of things and wham I got knocked down flat with a terrible cold! I did teach last Tuesday and Wednesday I subbed the yoga class before my Total Tone class and then pretty much spent Thursday- Sunday on the coach. I had to get back to work today with private clients and than taught Pilates & Boot Camp. I made it through but barely.

I have to run to help my girls with a big school project but will come n
Back and catch up!

Missed ya'll and glad to see your still here!

Don't know when I'll be going to the beach house. I hope sometime this week but most likely next week. Joey is going to take back the fixed water heater tomorrow. Then I think he will come back the next day. It might be next Monday before I get over there. Doctor gave me a clean bill of health. Said to use the neti pot twice a day to prevent a lot of my clearing of throat and coughing to clear throat. Also she gave me a drug to try called Zantac. I'm so afraid to do that, because of the awful experience I had from another drug. This one is suppose to be different. I really like my licorice root and papaya enzyme the best. I'll think about it though.

Michelle, I would take 50 degree weather in Jan. as well. ;) Great job walking Ripken and LIC. I think it's sooooooo hard to keep up. But that's a challenge for me to finish one day and not so much modifying. Let us know when you figure out where you will be going on your Winter vacation. Sounds like it will be fun. I'm glad you like your Kindle Fire. Can't believe after a 50 degree weather you go a snowy one the next day. Usually that kind of stuff is for March. Hmmmmmm. Great job on your long walk with Ripken this morning and AB. I bet your legs are in DOM heaven.

Laura, I'm so sorry about your cold. You must have caught it from me. Great job for teaching Tues. and Wedn. and spending Thurs.-Sun. on the coach and taught Pilate & Boot Camp. Way to go! I don't know how you did it, but you are awesome in my book.

Have a good one everyone,

Janie

So taught Pilates this morning and it was a pretty full class, which is always nice.:) I was going to try and start the 3 1/2 month STS & Shock Cardio rotation today but I'm still not feeling great and since I have to teach tomorrow night I wonder if I should st instead. The girls stayed home sick today, Eliza had a fever last night and Sophia was sniffly this morning, but they seemed ok today so they will go back to school tomorrow.

Michelle: weird weather, seems like CO weather, warm one day snow the next is common here. I am so bummed I've been sick because we have had the most beautiful days here this week, beautiful blue skies, warm sun, sparkly snow! I should be skiing.....

Janie: so your sick to, huh? No fun is it? Get better soon!

Joey called from the beach house and I might go there tomorrow maybe. If I do, it will be about 2-7 days. We really need to get some work done and start painting more rooms. Wasn't motivated to workout today. I'm really falling behind. I'll try to get some long walks in.

Laura, Great job on teaching Pilates this morning. So nice that there were a lot of people there. So sorry about everyone being sick. No fun, I know. I'm done with whatever I had. It wasn't nice.

Take care,

Janie

Hi ya'll! Starting to feel a little better but still so fatigued.... I did finally motivate to exercise for myself, first time in weeks...HIIT 40/20 was on the rotation & as that is one of Cathe's toughest workouts I decided to sub the Intensity Premix of Low HIIT and Boot Camp, which was perfect. The Low HIIT is definitely the easiest of all Carhe's HIIT workouts. Than tonight I taught Total Tone and I did a Barre and Core workout which was really fun.

Michelle: hmmm I might need to check out the January Rotation, maybe I will do that instead of STS. I have started the last two years with STS, which I love, but I don't feel like I have gotten to play with the new series nearly enough and in fact I haven't even done all the workouts yet. I haven't done After Burn, Cardio Sets, Tri-Sets or Cycle Max. I loved the Barre workout and the yoga's and Athletic Training and LIC are tough! I was thinking today I have so many workouts! So many I haven't even done yet. I still haven't tried Insanity, Pure Strength, Slow and Heavy or any of the other 'older' but new to me Cathe workouts I got this summer! Misty is beautiful and mellowing into a good dog. She is very affectionate but in many ways more independent then any other breed I've had.

Janie: you will get back in the saddle again soon! I know that the winters were really tough for my mom when she was up in your neck of the woods and found it very hard to motivate to exercise she does much better here were the sun is always shinning. I'm glad you had a visit with your dad and that he got home safe. Enjoy the beach house and your long walks.

Well, I'm still here. Joey told me the fridge died. So he has to stay there until at least Sat. until they deliver a new one for us. In the meantime, he will paint the bathroom and hopefully get started in the hallway or his bedroom.

In the meantime for me, I hit a slump and needed to get out of it. I did some soul searching and came up with something in the back of my mind that I have always wanted to try. What better time than to do it now. Body Building. I wanted it to be with Cathe DVD's but not certain on how I should approach it. So, I got on the Ask Cathe forum and asked her if she had the time to help guide me with a rotation. She did better than that and I now have my workouts cut out for me for at (I think) 8 months. OMG! She was so generous with her time to set it all up for me. I couldn't be more pleased. Bless her heart. I am so thrilled!

Cathe even told me what diet to go on. The Paleo Diet, so I got that now on my Kindle along with the cookbook. There are several authors out there and chose Loren Cordain. He seemed to have the greater knowledge under his belt.

The first thing on the list is STS. Got out the STS Users Guide. Today I did STS meso 1 Chest, Shoulders & Biceps with the stretching at the end. Whew! My body is pure jello now and needed a rest before the ab work. Did Ab Circuits - Yoga-Inspired Abs and the stretch after that. Took a long hot soak in the tub. I think this was a little less than two hours to do. At least it felt like that.:D I didn't time myself though. Just the thing I needed to jump start my goals. After 3 1/2 months, this will complete phase 1. Then on to other things as described by Cathe.

I'm sorry for Joey, but I really need more than TBS all the time, so unless he wants to exercise with me, we won't be exercising together. At least not this year. Hope sometimes he will join in with me, he knows he is welcome.

Laura, Great job on Hitt 40/20. Subbing is good. Also great job on teaching TT and did a Barre & Core workout. I finally got out of my slump. It's easy ot get into one. It was so awful, but I'm encouraged again, thanks to Cathe.

Take care,
Janie

Went to the Doc today and I have a sinus infection and bronchitis, a pretty bad case of both apparently, and he has put me on a double dose of anit-biotics and prescription cough syrup. He also advised that I don't exercise for a few days...:mad::( So much for getting going....

Janey: wow how cool is that!??!! I am amazed by Cathe all the time, her energy, enthusiasm, and generosity seems endless! How does she do it??? I would love to see your rotation, I have often thought of going for body building myself, maybe we can do it together?? I have heard a lot of the Paleo Diet over the years, you have re-peaked my in it, I think I will look it up right now and re-familiarize myself with it... I will look forward to hearing about your progress!

Janey: I just checked out your Ask Cathe Thread and that rotation looks good, I think I will do it too, but I wasn't sure if she meant the 6 &1/2 month rotation or 3 & 1/2 month rotation when she said STS in its 'entirety' and she also didn't mention cardio at all.....
