Getting Our Licks In!

I got in 50 min of Pilates last night and toward the end found my mind wandering to a Pilates and Wine class (to unwind on Friday's) that is offered at a new Pilates studio in town. I was trying to figure out who I could get to go with me but I may just have to make it a wine club outing - not sure all the ladies would be up for it but I'm sure a couple would. I'm going to try a stability ball workout I have tonight - should be interesting.

Janie - It's so frustrating waiting for an injury to heal, you are an inspiration for not letting it keep you down!

Yesterday I did KCM's Your Best Body workout #1 + yoga/stretch. Tonight will be KCM's Trim Down workout #1. I might tack on RPS #1 at least try combos 1 & 2. It really looks FUN!

Michelle: I know how work can get in the way of our exercising. I used to be the type of exerciser that if I missed a day I would do 2 workouts the following day. Thank goodness I'm not obsessive anymore. Ripken must be smiling that your still able to walk him despite how busy you are. He's such a sweetie. You'll get back to exercising in no time. I too take it down a notch with my workouts at this time of year. I just don't want to get sick.

Janie Sis: You poor thing. Now you have to get around on crutches. <<<<<HUGS>>>>> I'm glad your keeping up with the upper body workouts. Try to keep it elevated to get the swelling down. I know its hard but you just have to. I want you to heal.

Cindy: You be careful too w/that stability ball workout. I hope you won't be hurting your foot. I would so be in on the wine class. I hope 1 or 2 ladies will join you.

Laura: Your girls must be growing up to be beautiful young ladies. If you get a chance to post some pictures we'd love to see them. I've done Greatest Hits a couple of times & its definitely not easy. It doesn't flow right & I agree you do have to remember the choreo in all of these step workouts. I did preview RPS #1 & it looks like its so much FUN! It does look tricky but I'll try it soon. Kudos for nailing the entire workout. Your some stepper.

Take care,
Kathy

Checking in to see how everyone is doing.

Cindy, Great job on the 50 min. of Plates. Hope you find someone on Friday's to wine down with you. Enjoy your stability ball workout tonight.

Kathy Sis, Thank you for your hugs. My decision to do crutches, and it seems to be working. Less hurting for sure. I'll try hard to figure out a way to elevate it.

Great job on KCM's Your Best Body workout #1 and yoga/stretch. Enjoy your workout tonight.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Last night was KCM's Trim Down #1. The 1st exercise is a killer. You have to squat very low while holding onto dbs overhead & you alternate moving your arms up & down all the while squatting & raising yourself up. This workout of hers is deceptive. You think its too easy to actually feel anything but afterwards look out! My lower back & legs are killing me today. I'm supposed to do KCM's Body Shop #1 which is a total body workout. However, if my back & legs are still hurting by tonight I'll switch things up & do Party Rockin Step #1. At least I'll try combos 1 & 2 first & see how that goes.

I'm also trying to eat a lot more veggies to try to get my weight to move. Hopefully I'll see it shift soon. All of my pants are tight & I do not want to purchase all new pants.

Janie Sis: Just keep babying that foot of yours. Crutches at least help you to get around. Can you take a folding chair & perhaps place it in front of your sofa to elevate the foot? Just a suggestion. Take care of yourself. You'll be better in no time.

Cindy: How's your foot doing today? Better I hope. Any ladies interested in the wine class?

Waves to Laura & Michelle!

Take care,
Kathy

Once I started the ball workout I remembered what it was, I felt silly for forgetting. It wasn't on a large exercise ball but used the Winsor pilates ball, it was a nice short workout and allowed me to get a few things done around the house afterwards. Tonight I'm going to work on arms - probably MM with just the arms portions no lunges for my foot quite yet. It still gives a little twinge now and then but it doesn't last.

It is officially snowing here, it will make for cruddy roads since it was raining when I walked into work today, but that's expected. I'm sure my kids are excited and I'm looking forward to putting Lucas in his snow pants.

All of the ladies in my wine club said they'd be up for the Pilates & Wine - I was surprised with a couple but the "I'll try anything once" motto was running strong!

Kathy - I love your energy! I hate when the pants start getting too tight because I don't like buying bigger sizes either. I hope the added veggies help - I am working on cutting out the snacking I have wrongly gotten used to again. I'm hoping to get down 8-10 pounds before the new year.

Cindy

Janie - It sounds like you are in more pain than me on the foot, glad the crutches are working!

I hope you don't mind that I join this checkin

The other one that I was posting on is no more. Today I did the cardio premix of Low Impact Circuit, and the lower body premix of High Reps.

I hope that all of you are doing well.

Let's see..

Monday I did some Reformer work and Cadillac between clients

Tuesday was Beginner Mat and Cardio Sculpt both were well attended and people seemed to really really like them:eek: I also did a quickie on the reformer just some basics..

Today was Cross Fire :p and a Premix of Bi's and Triceps segments 1-5 and core 1. I actually may have never done crossfire before or just once and not the whole enchilada! I was completely toast by the Pylo Tabatas…..have mercy Cather have Mercy!!

got to run and meet my yoga teacher for some mentoring and then grab girls from a playdate so I will try and come back for personals later !

Tonight was Mesocycle 1, disc 5, back and triceps. I felt strong today.

Kathy Sis, Great job on KCM's Trim Down 1. Sounds intense, enjoy your DOM's coming. I mean that in a good way. I think eating more vegis is on the right track to move the weight you want. I have a lunging sofa and it rests my foot, but it's not higher than my heart. Thinking the crutches are working, I hope anyway. Still sore. I guess that's what a sprain is. I'll be with you in spirit at the wine class.

Cindy, Great job using a Winsor pilates ball with a short workout today. Oh MY, first snow, how lovely. Enjoy it! Pictures please.

Catlin, Welcome to our group. I can't wait to get to know you better. Great job on cardio premix of Low Impact Circuit and Lower Body premix of High Reps. WheW! Good job.

Laura, Great job on your clients Monday, Tues. Beginner Mat Cardio Sculpt teaching. I would like these as well. Also for today's Cross Fire and Prmix of Bis and triceps seg. 1-5 and core 1. Good for doing the whole workout, not easy at all. You most likely will feel DOM's tomorrow, enjoy.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Last night I did KCM's Body Shop workout #1. This is a total body workout & you lift heavy. Left arm I used 5# dbs. I believe I did too much weight work this week. Arm is hurting me today. I'll have to rest & next week only use the tubing. Tonight I'm actually going to attempt the RPS #1 combos 1 & 2 maybe more. We'll see. I'll also do abs from KCM's Muscle Definition. All this talk re Pilates makes me want to just do pilates for a while until my arm heals.

Cindy: Glad that women decided to join the Pilates/Wine class. Happy that your able to workout despite your busy schedule. I always liked MM. You'll have good DOMS afterwards. I'm not looking forward to snow. Never am. It must look beautiful in your neck of the woods.

Janie Sis: Glad your able to work your upper body. Keep babying the foot.

Laura: Happy to hear that your students enjoyed your class. And wow on your workouts. I've never completed the entire Cross Fire. I just did sections of it. And to think you went on to Xtrain's bis/tris premix. That was quite a workout you had. Your making up for lost time while you were sick right?

Caitlin: Welcome aboard! Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Michelle: Come back when you can surface from all the workload. Give Ripken some hugs from me.

Have a good day!
Kathy

What a busy week. I have managed to get in the dog walks and exercise. Still keeping things low key: low impact step on Tuesday and Wednesday and Body Fusion today. I'm enjoying not pushing so hard this month but still exercising. My body definitely needed a break from the intensity of a Cathe rotation. Tomorrow I'm actually going to take a half day off and put up my outside Christmas decorations. It's supposed to be in the 60s here tomorrow and then get cold over the weekend, so I'm opting to get my decorations up so my hands don't freeze off in the process.

Janie: boy you sure are having a time with this sprain, but doing STS is a good alternative. I've been toying with the notion of doing STS again. We'll see.

Kathy: the KCM workouts sound really tough. My muscles are hurting just reading your description of the workouts. WOW!

Laura: Those tabatas will get you every time--that is for sure. It sounds like you have completely recovered from being sick last week and are back in the groove of your hectic mom-work schedule.

Cindy: I hope it snowed enough for everyone to enjoy but not so much to create issues. But I imagine in Montana, ya'll are used to/ready for snow. Pilates and Wine is an interesting combination. Enjoy!

Caitlin: welcome back. Two good premixes combined into your workout. I'll have to remember that combo.

Michelle

Kathy Sis, Great job on KCM's BodyShop workout #1. Love the amount of weight you used. Sorry your arm is hurting. It takes time.

Michelle, Great job on getting in the dog walks and exercise while so busy.
Great job on Low Impact on Tues and Wedn. Body Fusion today. Glad you are trying to take it easy from intense Cathe rotation. Enjoy putting up Christmas decorations.

Take care,

Janie

Last night I managed to accomplish combos 1 & 2 from RPS #1 but not w/out a lot of rewinding. It took me an hour! LOL Sunday I'm going to attempt 1 & 2 + add on #3. These combos are so much fun I really want to learn them. Believe me when I say I was yelling at Cathe b/c I was turning when I shouldn't have & I wanted her to slow down. LOL

Its a rest day for me today. Tomorrow I'm going to check out my Tapout XT set. Mike the instructor uses tubing in such creative ways. I need to abandon the dbs for now & truly heal my arm.

Michelle: I don't blame you for taking it down a notch. Your very busy at work + you hit it hard for the month. Good for you for listening to your body. I tend to not listen & always get injured. KCM's workouts are only intermediate. There nothing in comparison to Cathe. Didn't want to give you the impression that their hard. I was just surprised by KCM's rotation b/c it was quite a bit of weight training. I like to alternate my days of weight/cardio. The weather is warm by us too 52 degrees this morning. Its supposed to freeze up by us too over the weekend. That's a good idea to put up the Xmas decorations while its warm. Enjoy!

Janie Sis: Enjoy your rest today. What other recipes have you made from Against All Grain?

Take care,
Kathy

Short and Sweet came in the mail today and will be reviewing it tonight.

Kathy Sis, Great job on RPs #1 and 2. You are persistant, good for you. Some people can slow down there DVD player, would that help? Haven't made any new recipes yet, but I'm looking to do it soon.

Take care,

Janie

Low impact Circuit cardio premix yesterday and Cross Train Express Upper Body workout today. Got most of my outside Christmas decorations up yesterday but still have a little to do today. Then I'll put away the boxes and start thinking about bringing the inside decorations up out of the basement. Also going to take some stuff to Goodwill. We've got boxes of "old" kitchen appliances that we have newer versions of--time for the "old" stuff to go. Drained out the garden hoses today and rolled up for winter. It's supposed to get cold here tomorrow (in the 30s, wind chills in the 20s--hey it's the south, anything below 40 is cold). But ya'll can laugh at me.

Janie: I don't know Short and Sweet. I will have to google that one to check it out.

Kathy: I highly recommend a "low key" workout month. I know it's hard to not push the workout but we're all a bit of the walking wounded lately.

I'm loving Cathe's Black Friday Specials. I think I might have to do some Christmas shopping.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Michelle

I did one section of HIIT

I did the 40/20 one, and it was so hard my heart rate went through the roof. Originally, I though I would do Pyramid after it, but then I thought I would be crazy to do it. We all have to know when to stop, don't we? I wish Cathe would make another Hiit DVD,and it is much better than hi low.

It's a 3-layer dog-walk day--that means, I was wearing 3 layers this morning when Rippy and I walked and I'll probably be wearing 3-layers for our night-time walkabout. It's cold. Did Lean Legs and Abs today and had so much fun doing the workout. My glute is feeling good and so is my iliopsoas muscle.

Catlin: I think the X-10 workouts are also pretty intense. Kind of like doing a HIIT but Cathe also adds in weight work. If you like HIIT, I think you'll like X-10. There are 5 25-30 minute workouts or you can combine. Definitely gets the heart rate anaerobic.

It's kind of quiet in our group this weekend but I know this is the time of year when life starts to get super busy. Hope everyone is doing well, staying healthy, and getting their licks in.
Michelle

Michelle, Great job on yesterday's Low Impact Circuit cardio premix. and Cross Train Express Upper Body today. Wow and the decorationmax. Sort and Sweet is a Travis Eliot yoga with 3 about 30 min. practices. In case I need to use them if time is short.

CDPotier, great job on 40/20. You were wise not to do Pyramid after. LOL.

Take care ladies,

Janie

Saturday after my hair appointment came home & did Tapout XT Strength & Force Upper Body. You do an upper body exercise followed by pushups. This workout is 50 min. & Mike the instructor takes you through every variation there could possibly be in pushups. However, it was the most boring workout I've ever done. Couldn't wait for those 50 min. to fly by. Sunday I did again RPS #1 combos 1-4. I only had to rewind once for combo #3. What a great step workout this is. I loved it. I followed this up w/KCM's Kickboxing core/abs bonus section. Kelly's ab exercises are HARD. That was 14 min.

Tonight will be KCM's Trim Down #2 according to Kelly's rotation. I'll try to only use my tubing instead of the dbs. Arm is feeling better.

My girlfriend just rec'd Focus T-25 from Shaun T. She emailed the preview of the Alpha phase. She's such an enabler now I want this & it wasn't even on my radar at all. LOL

Janie Sis: I was wondering what Short and Sweet was. I'll have to Google it & check it out. I just never seem to find a yoga workout that's short. Maybe this is what I've been looking for.

Michelle: You most certainly did decoration max for sure & your not even done yet. I haven't done LIC cardio in a long time. I should check out Cathe's sale too. I always wanted the CTX on dvd. My VHS tapes no longer work. The weather over the weekend was FRIGID! Yesterday it was only 13 degrees. Brr! Today it started out in the low 20's but expected to get to 35. It probably won't reach 35 until late afternoon. When it reaches these temps there's just no way you can look good heading into work can you? LOL Rippy must love this weather though with the heavy coat that he wears. LOL

CDPotier: Those HIIT workouts are not easy by any means. But the 40/20 one was not a favorite of mine. Have you tried the Double Wave Pyramid one & the 30/30? I'm sure you have. Those are my favorites. Do you just do Cathe workouts or do you do others?

Have a good day!
Kathy

4 Shoulders, biceps and back tonight. It was all good.

Kathy Sis, Short and Sweet are 3 30 min practices from Travis Eliot. They look challenging and I'm not yet ready to do them because of my foot, but soon, I hope to. Great job on Sat. Tapout XT Strength and Force Upper Body. Sounds like a really good workout except the boring part. And for doing Sun. RPS #1 combos 1-4. You are doing really well. And also KCM's Kickboxing core/abs bonus section.

Take care,

Janie

Last night was KCM's Trim Down #2. This workout you do a leg exercise followed by shadow boxing moves. You keep alternating. I liked this one.

Tonight will be one of the premixes from Amy's Body Box. I love this workout.

Janie Sis: Your doing well with your upper body. Is the foot getting better? Weather is warmer today. It hit 35 but a bad rain storm is headed our way. Did you get snow already? How's your Xmas shopping going? My DH put up all the Xmas decorations inside already. He likes to do this & its not even his holiday! LOL Are you cooking for Thxgiving?

Waves to CDPotier, Laura & Michelle.
