Getting Our Licks In!

Good morning all! Today is continuing in the week's pattern - very beautiful, warm, and sunny. What a gorgeous week to be home :D

Michelle, you probably do hear me counting! I've got a spreadsheet all set up for tracking inventory that I began when I made purchases this spring: after I finish each bag or box, I enter in the quantity, variety, and seller's name, and that's how I can tell how much I've done, how much is left, and whether I received everything I ordered :D Next up: bulb number 9230! Probably a Yellow Cheerfulness tazetta daffodil.

Today we have the veterinarian coming in a few minutes, for routine health checkup and teeth floating on the horses, plus this year I'm getting the dogs and cats a certified rabies vaccine. Normally I give that myself but since rabies has been found in the state I want to be sure we have a record that everyone is protected. The cats are nowhere to be found ...

I'd better go clean out the stables, and will post again later, if I don't fall asleep again after (well, to be honest, practically during) dinner

Yesterday Rolly and I walked for an hour and Joey and I did The Firm Vol. 1. Planning a really long walk with Rolly today, hopefully a couple of hours.

Michelle, Great job on the walk and STS disc 17 legs. Not easy, glad to see you listening to your body. Yes LOL:D, I too can hear Shadowpup counting bulbs. That's funny.

Deborah, I knew you were the organizing person. My Joey is too. That is a good thing. Keeps everything in it's order. Fall is the best time of year to be out and about. Wonderful weather here as well. Sounds like you are thoroughly enjoying your week at home. Oh, our cats are the same way, especially Winkle when he knows I'm fixing his shot. Very allusive indeed.LOL

Have a great day everyone.

Well, we are finally getting rain here in the mid-atlantic. And lot's of it. Our rain gauge goes to 5 inches and it was beyond that this morning. I think this rain will definitely serve to break our drought and fill up the reservoirs. Rain means that Ripken and I did had wet dog walkabout this morning, but it wasn't raining really hard so we didn't get drenched. I had my full raingear; Ripken doesn't mind the rain, so we hit all the puddles with gusto. Gave Ripken a good towel dry afterwards and by the time I left for work his fur had the rainsoft-thing going.

I did Athletic Step and yoga-inspired abs this morning. AS is always a challenge for me, but I kept smiling and pushed through. Many licks from Ripken while I cooled down.

Shadowpup: It's funny how you get to know somebody on these forums. I KNEW you would have a system for counting and keeping track of how many bulbs, type, etc you had planted. You're alot further along than I thought you would be--you're almost halfway there!

Janie: walking the pup is just one of my favorite things to do. It almost always puts me in a good mood if I'm not already there. I don't know if Rip could last for a 2 hour walk--I'm pretty sure we'd have to take some breaks. When the weather is good for the walkabout (and even when it's not), he is usually good for an hour in the morning. I've never tried doing a second long walk later in the day. Not sure if he would go for that. But your Rolly is a young pup and has lots of energy so I imagine he is good to go for quite a while.

Thinking of Shoegal--hope it's not raining where she is. Hi to Elle, Laura, and sister.

Well finally checking in....feel so lame lately:eek::confused::(

but I am ACTUALLY LAME still so not much to report other than frustration and jealousy of all your fabulous workouts!

I did do a GS Upper Body this weekend and than taught 3 classes, but my knee got much inflamed again so I ended up dropping my two classes yesterday evening....

UGH

No rain this morning, just very windy--so Ripken and I had a nice dry walk in the cool autumn air. STS disc 18, backs and biceps, is now behind me. Half-way through this go on STS. I'm starting to feel like I'm maxing out on my weight amounts, so I clearly need the next 2 day break to recharge my battery. Tomorrow will be a stretch day and Sunday will be a cardio day. I'm in New Orleans most of next week but will be able to get in disc 19 on Monday morning. Moving right along.

Laura: welcome back. Sorry to hear that your knee is still causing you problems. At least you can still do upper body and stretching. I feel for you because I know that you are frustrated. I would be too. Hang in there!

Hello to everyone else: sister, Shadowpup, Elle, and Janie.

What a beautiful, sunny day in central Virginia. I bit windy, but other then that, it is just gorgeous! After rainy, gray, icky days, this is really nice.

Today my Kindergarten kids are on a field trip. What a nice break. The little ones have been very challenging this week, so its nice to get this break. TWO extra planning periods.

I have one more week of mesocycle 2. Boy, that has been seriously kicking my butt. The cardio's this week were one's I really liked (MMA:Fusion and Kickbox). I am finding that karate mixed with STS strength training definately improves my ability to perform a lot of "crazy" moves in Fusion. My kicks are getting better too! I will be "graduating" to green belt on October 29. Then its a new schedule because I will be in the intermediate group instead of beginners. We learned front knee and angle knee "kicks" this week. Its not so much as a kick as it is a raising of leg/knee into your opponent. We got to "knee" people holding big rectangular body bag things. Oh, it was so much fun. I loved it!

My Dad and I will be shopping for an IPAD this weekend. He wants one so he can be connected to the web 24/7 anywhere and anytime. I sure hope it is user friendly.

This week has been very challenging. And I am so glad to see the weekend. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I intend to!

Well checking in to keep my mind in the game although no exercise to report!

My knee was doing better again this morning, no pain walking down the stairs, but after a morning of running errands it is acting up a little again. I got my hair cut and highlighted today and she curled it with a flat iron, it looks really cute if I can say so myself. I bought a cute new workout top at Lumeleun on sale that is a bright tortoise blue and some fun colored eye liners. I guess if I can't workout I shop! Oh dear DH won't like that very much! I better get better soon or my wallet will be lighter and my @ss heavier! :(:eek:

Busy weekend, friends from HS and College are here for the big CU/GA game so we are going out with them tonight and tomorrow night. We have this big Enchanted Forest Fund Raising Event tomorrow, plus the game. Sunday my mom and aunt are coming up for brunch, the girls have horseback riding lessons, and I have my book club that evening.

So good thing to be busy...

Michelle: the weather has been beyond gorgeous here. The aspens are in full glory right now, just at there peak this weekend! Enjoy the cooler temperatures! I bet Ripken is happy!

Catchick: nice to have a break from the little ones! Your karate sounds awesome, it makes me want to do it too!

Walked Rolly and did Supersets yesterday. Today will walk Rolly and do Dove's 3rd workout. Should be challenging. Joey and I compromised between each other. He likes The Firm and I like Cathe, so we take equal turns to pick out our workouts. If there is something else I want to do, it is on my own. It's a good compromise.:)

Michelle, It is that time of year I guess for rain. Our rain is more like a thin layer of misting. Not quite the average rainfall, but then again that should happen in the middle of this month. That's when it starts to rain for very long periods of time. Sometimes literally months. I can see you both going for those mud puddles.:D LOL Not Rolly he side steps them big time.LOL Love doggies fur after they dry off. So soft and nice. Great job on AS and yoga inspired abs and STS disc 18. Rolly doesn't really have a choice how long to walk, so after a 2 hr. walk, he's pretty much exhausted and lays around the rest of the day. It's good sometimes.

Laura, I hear ya!;) when I was laid up for many months I was envious of everyone and just couldn't wait to get started again with exercise. Try not to get your knee inflamed so much. It just will take longer to heal when you do that. Be patient:confused:, I know. Hang in there. Glad to see you doing upper body work. I bet having your hair cut and styled was just the ticket to boost you up. It sounds lovely. Have a fun filled weekend, it sure sounds busy and lots of things to do.

Renee, I love the Fall weather when it is nice like W. Virgina. Enjoy. Wow, one more week of Meso 2. Time flies by when you are having fun. Good for you. Don't you just love the exercise works. It makes you move like you never did before. Awesome work! Karate: I would love to knee someone for fun! I bet it is such a blast. Have fun! Also have fun shopping with your Dad and the weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

Janie

Hi all, welcome to the weekend! I'm off to plant bulb number 11,165 and beyond. Apparently we're supposed to have rain tomorrow afternoon.

Yesterday and the day before were slow planting days, because we had the vet out. It was mainly routine: horse dentistries, rabies shots for every family member with four legs, and exams of two lumps that I was worried about on the dogs. One was on our smallest border collie (Chelsea) and the vet agreed with me that it was a tumor and ought to be removed. He did that yesterday, and Chelsea is recovering nicely. It had recently begun to grow ... We'll find out in a week or so as to whether it is malignant or not. Chelsea's last tumor wasn't malignant so we are hoping this will turn out as well. The other lump is on our labrador, and here also the vet also agreed with me that it is nothing to worry about - a soft cyst we should continue to watch.

Our vet clinic is really wonderful to work with! We've used them for twelve years at least, now, and I have to say it is much easier to have a vet who will come out to your own place! Usually the owner comes with a senior tech. They'll also let me assist with animals who are difficult like Chelsea. She's got the potential to revert back to highly fear agressive behavior if she's put in certain situations that remind her of her prior home and the shelter where we got her ... the vet made special arrangements so that I could hold her during the preoperation medication, and pick her up while she was still waking up, so that she would not feel like she was left alone with strangers.

What with all that I didn't plant much for two days, just a thousand or so! And I'd better get at it :eek::eek:

Ah--nice weekend. Did not go to the boat though because it would have been just for one day. So, we are at home getting caught up on some things. Yesterday I did stretch max with the stability ball and house work. Ripken and I also walked an hour in the morning, 30 minutes in the afternoon, and a 15 minute walk before dinner. This morning, we did our normal morning walkabout (about 50 minutes), I made Sunday morning breakfast (pancakes and bacon), and then after about an hour, I did HIIT 40/20. This was only the second time that I've done 40/20--boy, I was into the darth vader breath after the third interval. WhewWee!

Going to cool down a little, change my clothes, and go outside to do a little yardwork. Then I'll hit the shower.

Sister: so Dad went for the IPAD. I'm kind of proud of how our octogenarian father has managed to become so computer-capable. Let me know how that is going. I'm still lagging a little behind on STS--but I figure I should get it done by the end of November. I've got travel this week to New Orleans but I'll get disc 19 in tomorrow morning. I think I'm going to take travel fit and HIIT with me. Should keep me huffing and puffing while I'm in the Big Easy.

Shadowpup: it's nice that you have a vet that comes out to your place. But with all your big animals, that only makes sense. Sounds like all the quadrapeds are doing prety good. How many bulbs now? I'm guessing that you have about 14,000 planted by now, assuming that it has stopped raining.

Laura: Sounds like you and your knee are going to have to come to an understanding of some sort. What a bummer.

Janie: I think it's great that you and Joey work out together. I'm hoping that someday I can get my dh to start lifting waits a little bit. Right now, I'm just happy that my DH has gone 6 weeks without a cigarette.

Okay--I've tried calling my mom and dad 3 times this weekend. No answer. Time to try again.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.
~michelle

This is a rest day for me. Rolly and I go out walking for an hour or so (today was 30 min.) and that's it.

Deborah, How do you do it all!? You simply amaze me. Are you at least half way done planting the bulbs? How did the animals fair with the vet? Are they good being examined? Poor Chalsea, how is she doing? I hope the soft cysts is all that they are for your doggies. Scary.

Michelle, Great job on all your workouts, Wow. Ripken is such a lucky doggie to have you as his mommy. Fall gardening/cleaning up, such a good time to be outside.:) Congratulate your hubby for me for not smoking that long. Yeah! I went through that, it's not easy for sure. Very proud of him! Let us know when you reach your parents. Sounds odd.

Have a great day everyone and enjoy your friends and family.

Did TBS and will walk Rolly later today.

Hey, where is everyone? I think some of us are slipping. Hope to hear from all of you and would like to know how you are doing.

I need inspiration please. Only you guys can give it to me.

What did you do today?

Good Monday afternoon!

Just a quick post. I did STS disc 23, legs today. Goodness me, those legs are so hard, especially at 4:30-5:30 in the morning. But, its really the best time to exercise for me. So, I won't fuss too much. LOL

Sister should never worry about not getting thru to our parents. Sometimes we are all out and about, and not sitting by the phone. Plus, if there was some sort of an emergency, she would certainly get a call. AND, I always have my cell phone on me.

I am excited about finishing up mesocycle 2 this week and looking forward to an active recovery week, next week. You all keep on, keepin on!

~Renee

It's been a crazy week! My best friend's father passed away suddenly last Monday. She was very close to her father and had lost her mother 8 years ago so she is taking it very hard. She got a call at work from the police in the morning. It is really sad. Needless to say it was a very draining week.

I need to go catch up on what i missed.

Good evening everyone. I'm in New Orleans for most of the week. Did Stretch Max this afternoon which felt great after being on an airplane.

Janie: yeah--sister is right. Mom and dad were just out--with her and the niece Chelsea. Sounds like you and Rolly are having some nice walks. That's one thing I sure do miss when I'm on travel: walking with my pup. Also miss sleeping in my own bed with my Joe right beside me. Oh well--I will just be gone for a few days.

Elle: sorry to hear about your best friend's dad. ((((HUGS)))) to you and to her.

Sister: one more workout and you are through meso 2--good for you! I'll be a few weeks behind, but sticking with it.

Hey--did everyone check out the clips from Cathe's new workouts. I watched INTENSITY this afternoon. Looks like another great set of workouts.
Hope everyone is having a great start to their week.
~michelle

Great day today. Got up at 5 am and did travel fit. I'm on travel, so it seemed only right to do travel fit. I've got to admit my body wasn't really into the idea of exercising so early but after I got going, it was all good.

Day 2 of driving around New Orleans and I'm slowly learning how to get from where I am to where I need to go. Lots of one way streets so lots of going around in circles, but not as much today. And I learned the trick on Canal Street--you have to go past the street you want to turn left on, then you hang a uey in the u-turn lane and then you can turn right onto the one-way street. Not too difficult once you figure out the system.

I think we are going to try to go to NOLA's tonight if I can get early reservations. We went there a couple of years ago and one of my colleagues really liked it, so we'll give it a go here shortly to see if we can get a table.

Otherwise, not much else to report. DH seems to be handling the home routine and the pup okay without me there. He says it's kind of dreary at home. Atl least here in NOLA, there is warm sunshine although the breeze was out of the north and cool today.

~michelle

Did TBS, ab hits and Stretches using the ball. Walked Rolly 30 min. It's so beautiful outside!

Renee, Great job on those STS legs. Whew! And so early in the morning.

Elle, So sorry about your best friends Dad. (((((hugs to you))))), it will be hard for her.

Michelle, Love Stretch Max, can't say enough good things about it. I love the clips on the new DVD's, can't wait to get them. Great job with Travel Fit. Joey and I visited NO, but it was before the floods (Katrina). It was the most unusual and fantastic place I've ever visited. Were you able to get reservations at NOLA'S?

Have a wonderful day everyone,

Janie

Ya-hoo! Mesocycle 2, weight lifting portion---DONE! I have MMA: Boxing left in my rotation and then its on to a much need active recovery week. I love STS, but it really is a lot of hard work. Especially as early in the day that I do it. I haven't eaten as clean as I did when I first did STS the beginning of this year, but all in all, I am seeing gains.

Yesterday in karate we went over grab techniques which really is: how to get out of a grab. Lot's of different ways to do it, not that difficult. But then we got to work on elbow breaks! I just love that. No, we don't break anyone's elbows, its all "simulated" but still its great! Oh, and I'll be competing in my first karate tournament November 6th! Kinda excited about that too!

I'm a week and a half out from my first school program. My kids are just about ready to go on stage and put it all together. Singing and instrument playing between dialoge about the underground railroad. I hope it all falls together as planned.

Hoping everyone is having a good week. Where is everybody?

~Renee

Another early morning workout: double-wave pyramid. It's a good one to have with you when you are on travel. I keep thinking it's Thursday, but it's Wednesday. Had a long day of meetings and one more day to go tomorrow, then back home tomorrow night. Yeah!

~Michelle

Well I survived my first week of teaching all of my classes this week! My knee is doing better, all though not at all healed totally. I am able to do a little weight bearing work but still not impact cardio such as step, or Hiit. This week I might try a few walks on level ground down in Boulder to see how it does. I just need to 'save' my knee to be able to teach what I have to. I can go down stairs better than before, and my range of motion is improving although I can still not bear weight on the knee or do child's pose or even a decent hamstring curl...

I also did do GS Chest & Triceps on Saturday and GS Back, Shoulders, and Biceps today. It felt really tough to get back into it and I also feel like the less I exercise the more I tend to eat which is really, really not good!

Michelle: where is double wave pyramid?

Catchicks: School is chugging right along isn't it? We are in full swing at our school as well and we have our first assembly tomorrow and Michaelmas celebration. So on to Meso 3 huh?

Janey: nothing like the tried and true for a good workout! I saw a thread on the new clips but couldn't find them!! Can you help me out/

Elle: sending loving thoughts your way! Stay centered and don't forget your yoga practice to help you be there for others by taking care of yourself!
