Getting Our Licks In!

Last night I stepped with Amy Bento ASC II - I remember how frustrated I was learning this - well - now it is a total blast. My only complaint is that she breaks down combo II too long - especially one particular portion of it to the point that I was getting bored and really anxious to move on. This workout in general moves extremely fast - Amy usually does the combinations fairly quickly and with minimal TIFTing - which is why it is so fun now. No endless repetition - but it also makes learning it such a chore. I have to say it is definitely worth it now!!! It was too much fun.

My schedule makes it very difficult for me to watch the Olympics - I missed all the pair skating last night!!! The fact that it is very difficult to find channels on Direct TV is another reason - too many channels - takes a lifetime to channel surf - and it also makes it impossible to learn channel numbers. I don't watch a lot of tv shows -if I'm watching it is usually something I've seen before. DH decided to tape the Olympics so that we can watch sans commercials and skip over the fluff. ;)

Reading a bunch of short stories now in the Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes - the short stories go by so fast - the mystery is solved almost immediately - no big reveals. We are enjoying it though.

Renee - I am glad that you are alright. That is certainly an experience - what do you think it is about these procedures that causes this to happen? We would love to hear your account of it. How do you feel now? We are all thinking of you.

Laura - Well - 3 things. I also would not say that I don't care for SC or that I'm disappointed - I do like them - but I do think that there is a bit of a spark missing in these. Given another chance I probably would have been more selective. Knowing me as I do though - I don't think I could have helped myself!!!! :D:eek: It sounds like you had fun at the "beer dinner" - don't completely discount that - I know you said it wasn't worth it - but you and Bo had some good quality time together - there is some value in that. Every once in a while you should let loose - and it was a special occasion so gee - don't be so hard on yourself. Ok -so call me an enabler. ;) And legs are hard - so just talk yourself through it - lower your expectations and tell yourself you are just going to do it - I think it will take some of the dread of it for you.

Michelle - It sounds as if Joe had a great birthday - he broke the knife in using it to slice open his finger. That sounds like something I would do!! I also have to say that I am partial to Cathe's Step as well - I really get excited about step in general - and I really like these new ones. We had about 4 inches - it still snowing a bit - but at this point no one is really paying attention to it anymore. We've all become rather complacent. :) It did however slow things up considerably on the highway last night - took forever to get home!

DH and I have a dinner this evening with some neighbors - I'm actually looking forward to it - we are going to a restaurant I've been wondering about for awhile - so it should be fun.

Hope you all have a great day - Hi to Janie, Shadowpup and Ironlady!!

Been trying to get on to post all day. Just kind of busy jumping from one thing to another today. This morning, bright and early, I did athletic step and STS ab circuits yoga. This week I seem to be feeling my STS workouts more than last week. The increase in the weight amounts wasn't so bad last week, but this week, the DOMS are pretty intense. Not in a bad way, but much more than last week. I was kind of dreading the ab circuits yoga this morning because I had problems with the side planks the first time that I did it, but today was smoother sailing.

Laura: So, I have to say that during meso 2, I actually look forward to the leg workouts because it comes between the upper body workouts and my upper body has more time to recover. I really liked the toning segments on the leg workouts in meso 1, although sister was not so crazy about them. So far in meso 2, the leg workouts have not included the toning segments at the end. They are shorter in duration but for me, they are really packing a punch.

Shoegal: So far, I have enjoyed every single one of my Shock Cardio workouts. Maybe I'm not that hard to please. I think Cathe's workout library provides a great variety of workouts and I'm happy I did the preorder and got the whole set plus travel fit. I haven't had a single moments remorse. For me, Cathe's wide variety of workouts helps me not to get into a workout rut--always something different to do. Sure, I could happily do 2 or 3 of the same step routines day after day, but I think I would not be seeing the same results. For me, Cathe provides real spice to my exercise life. You, Shadowpup, Janie and Laura are much more adventurous with the variety of exercise professionals that you use. I might get there someday, but right now I am very happy with my Cathe library. Plus, I figure by the time I am through STS, all those older Cathe workouts will be calling my name and it will be like I'm doing something new all over again.

Hi to Shadowpup, Janie, and sister.

Greetings and salutations!

I feel great! Yesterday, not so much, but we all have days like that. Of course mine did include the "near death" experience, but I'm no worse for wear. So, yeah, I don't do well with "procedures" of any medical sort, but mostly its dental. I'd rather go to an OBGYN, where, yes, I've my moments there too, but I'd still rather do that then dental. I have a leision, gray/white matter on my back left molar where my wisdom tooth used to be. My dentist was concerned and sent me to the oral surgeon. Where he did a biopsy on it. He feels it will come back negative, and all will be well, but you can't know for sure unless you biopsy it. So, he's working on that and I pass out on him. I told him "I don't do well with procedures of any sort...even teeth cleaning is difficult for me." He chuckled "OK"...well, he found out. Cuz out I went. To la la land. It was bizarre. All white and hazy and just out of it. When I came to, I was surrounded by 6 people, had an IV, and was hooked up to the machine that "beeps" your heart beat and other vital signs. All I could think was "wow, those beeps are really far apart...my heart sure is beating slow." They kept asking me "are you alright?" Uh, not really, feel awful, like I'm gonna barf. Blood pressure very low, clammy, icky, can I leave now? Ugh! Slowly but surely I came out of it...whatever it was...it was weird. (By the way, I worked out in the morning) Doctor thought we would have to postpone finishing the procedure. Oh no. You're gonna finish today, I'm not going thru that again. He went in, snip, snip and it was over. Thank god. Only took a couple of hours. My mom was there...she drove me home. I took it easy for the rest of the day. I didn't even have any soreness or swelling. This morning, got up, school had a 2 hour delay for icy roads, so I got my"Cathe" done for the day. Did Athletic Step and AC yoga based abs like sister. Felt fine. School was good too. No problem. Did get a little headache with my after school Orff group (pitched percussion ensemble) but other then that...I'm good. Alls well that ends well. I just don't do procedures well. Allergic to most narcotics like codeine, lore tabs, stuff like that. Certain drugs will make me have siezures, so I need to stay out of the hospital, ER's and dental surgeries. Sister worries too much. And if it ends up "not good" then I'll do what I have to do to beat it. Can't worry over things I can't control. So, yeah, thats the story in a nutshell.

I like meso 2 and I especially like the legs without those toning exercises. Let me do the weights, and "pump up the volume, pump up the volume!" And like sister, I am very satisfied with the variety Cathe offers in all her workout DVD's. During the warm and hot days of Spring/Summer/Fall I will hike, bike and run (A little) Running is not my favorite but I am kinda attracted to it, because I would run against myself. How far can I go today, type of thing. No, by no means, am I big into running AT ALL, but it does interest me somewhat.

The talent of success is nothing more than doing what you can do, well.

Hi all,

I have not dropped off the planet - just plain haven't been feeling well the last two days, especially today ... and the first few days home were a scramble for both work and home chores. I did Double Wave Pyramid and started Meso 2, plus a TRX flexibility, and probably should have taken more time off.

Renee! Don't scare us like that! I saw Michelle's note and then yours. Very glad you're okay. You must dread going to the dentist knowing this sort of thing might happen.

Last night I chose to do a "NRG" Amy Bento premix - it was a circuit workout - with ASC II and Slo Mo Strength Challenge mixed together. The slo mo- is REALLY slow - 3 very slow sets of an exercise - seemed to take the life out of me to do it but got it done all the same.

Renee - what an experience!!! Glad you are alright - and no worse for wear and you seemed to get everything done too. Life goes on - and I'm glad you are getting along too.

Michelle - All of those DOMS - wow - I'm just thinking about how hard you must be working!!! Keep it up.

Shadowpup - glad you didn't drop off the face of the planet - Hope you feel better. ((hugs)). Take care of yourself.

Janie - where have you been? Missing you here.

HI to Laura - are you skiing?

Already the day is shaping up to be a hectic one - hope all of you have a good one.

Had to get ready for my Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy. Mon. I couldn't eat not one thing, only drank their stuff to spill out poop. Tues. had the procedures and came home nauseated. Weds./today felt nauseated most of the day. Couldn't eat yesterday and not very much today, except an apple. Trying to drink water, but not too much. I feel better tonight, and will drink chicken broth and have crackers for dinner. Hopefully tomorrow will be better than the last two days. LOL

The good thing is no ulcer, had two pa-laps burned off from inside colon. That's good. Guess I have GERD after all. But now I know for sure. And I do have Diverticulosis. Small pockets in the colon. But this is not a bad thing. Need to eat more fiber.

Shoegal
, Walked without snowshoes? Can you do that. LOL How deep was the snow? Sounds like you and hubby had a great one on one time. Good for you.

Michelle, Oh I'd die for a knife like that. He's a very lucky hubby for you to get him one. How's his finger doing? Sounds you both had a wonderful birthday outing.

Yep, Step Moves I can do now. One of my most favorite Step workouts.

OMG! Your poor sissy! Really cool that you are so positive. She'll be OK. Lots of prayers her way.

Laura, I have to physic myself out with the legs too. For me though is because I don't like working on my legs. Most likely because I need to them the most. LOL You'll be moving through a different kind of leg workout soon.

We all need to splurge once in awhile over a wonderful meal like you and DH had. And yeah, we pay for it.

I hear ya on getting more workouts than you can used. I just can't help myself though. I use them in combination of others. Works out well for me. But always do what your gut feelings tell you. Their usually right.

Shoegal, Love Amy. Haven't stepped out with her in awhile. Glad you enjoyed her workout.

How frustrating not being able to watch the Olympics. I'm glad it's being taped.

When will you be going out to dinner with your neighbors?

Michelle, Congratulations on your STS and Cardio workouts. Seem you are improving so much.

Renee, What a horrible experience! I sure hope you don't have to do that again any too soon. Let us know how things go. OK? Prayers and hugs to you. I'm sure everything will be fine, just keep us posted.

Deborah, Hope you are feeling better. (((hugs your way))).

Shoegal, You are doing great with your workouts. Good for you.

Will chat again soon,

Janie

Hi! Missed yesterday again! Yikes, I need to get back on track cause I know how much this helps me and I so miss you guys when I don't post and then it seems overwhelming because I missed so much!! Goes to show how much really does/can happen in 24 hours!

Yesterday was a banner day! I taught my Pilates class and had everyone groaning and moaning and collapsing on their mats! Then I took my daughters skiing for a few hours, got home and threw in STS Disc #7 Chest, Shoulders, and Biceps!

By evening I was happy that my DH suggested going out to dinner and a family movie night! (The girls have a winter Break this week so no school all week!)

We headed back out to the mountain for a few hours again today and then I taught Pilates again tonight!

My daughter, Sophia, was so cute this morning! She came downstairs this morning and sat down at the kitchen counter and said to me "Mom my legs hurt about 3 inches about my knees!" Yep that is exactly where I feel it from skiing to!:D So I told her know you know how mommy feels almost everyday! SERIOUSLY SORE from DOMS!!:eek: So we were all pretty pooped today and only did a few runs. Plus it was cold and the conditions weren't as nice. So fun and easy.

I think that is one of the reasons maybe I am dreading the legs, because my legs are already are so tired all the time from skiing/ pilates /snow shoeing ext...and I telemark ski which is even more intense on the legs, it is endless lunges down the mountain! SO MUCH FUN though!

Shoegal: sounds like a fun workout for you know! You spent the time learning it and now you can have fun! ((((HUGS)))) Thanks for your kind words about my debauchery!!! It was fun during the dinner, but man oh man I felt so bad the next day!

Michelle: Oh dear that will mean my leg day will be after my ski day! Oh well only a month and 1/2 left to ski! I wonder if you like the leg drills because of your dancing back ground! You know if you can get away with not eating clean I can't blame you for not!! (from earlier post) Those side planks are tough! Good job on them.

Catchick: Wow! What an experience! You seem pretty calm about it now! Did your heart actually stop or just slow down a lot? And you did cardio the next day as well! I am so glad you are better! Funny how they ask if you if you are ok! Clearly I am not thank you very much! LOL!! Funny story here in my neighborhood..My neighbor's teenage son had a bunch of liquid acid that he had spiked some m&m's with, his father sees the m&m's and unknowingly eats a handful of them, next thing he is being Helicoptered out of here in a flight for life helicopter, story goes he is at the hospital surrounded by Dr's and policemen and the dr asks him "Are you hallucinating? Bud says "Yea.." Dr. says "is it a bad trip" Bud says "oh yea" the dr says "how do you know it is a bad trip" Bud says " because I am surrounded by a bunch of people in uniform" Kind of funny. everything turned out ok...the kid is a mess up but to be honest so are his parents...

Shadowpup: good to hear from you! Don't get sick again! Take it easy and spend time with your 4 legged loved ones! They will make you better!

Shoegal: Yep! You know me well now I was skiing! :D:cool:

Janey: wow what an ordeal! Glad you don't have an ulcer! Glad the test are behind you! I hope you can eat soon so you have energy to exercise!

Got to get the girls to bed!

:)Last night I was thinking - you know what - I got a new workout video for Christmas - AND - I have never done it!!!!! OMG!!!! It is a TreadMoves Video - called Extreme Moves. It is a video designed to use with the treadmill - doing aerobic combinations - like skipping, shuffles, step kicks etc. I don't think she jogged once!!! After awhile I got sick of it and didn't want to jump anymore - so I ended up running a bit. They also threw in some strength work using tubing and then some abs. Not as much fun as I envisoned - there were some problems though - my treadmill is smack up against a wall - and it is fine there just to jog - but I couldn't do the arms in the video because my elbow kept hitting the wall. So - I need to try this one again.

Janie - my goodness - that was a lousy couple of days - all the testing and procedures and not feeling very well - glad it is over. Getting some good food into you and some rest will soon put you to right. I am thinking about you - sending good thoughts your way. Big ((((Hug)))) too!!! :):) Yes - eat more fiber - my DH tells me that it has worked wonders for him - he eats a Fiber One bar everyday - says it is delicious too. Can walk in deep snow without snow shoes - but don't do it - it wasn't so great.

Laura - Endless activity over there - yes it sounded like a great day for you!!! Sophia is learning early what DOMS are like - good for her - do your girls ever want to exercise to a video with you??? My nephews and neices are all over my exercise equipment when they come over - my neices especially - well, they never really used any of it to actually exercise - just kind of make up games and use it all as props.

Shadowpup - hope you are feeling better - we are thinking about you here.

Hi to Michelle & Renee!!!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks, Shoegal! I'm feeling rather like a baby here, with everyone truck'n on through much tougher challenges than feeling blah and tired and flu-y and whiny ... and then having to worked most of three days that I'd set aside as personal holiday time ... I'm out again tomorrow morning, this time for nine days, and am not looking forward to the trip.

Of course the real problem is that I'm worried about my grandmother, who is 97, and whose mild symptoms of dementia are accelerating ... I'll see her this trip. It is important to appreciate those we love while they can appreciate us back!

But today is going to be better, and I'm going to paste Janie's advice to smile on my face and take said face out to play with the horses later today, so enough with the whiney talk and now more positive. Thanks for the positive nudges to rejoin this thread; it is always uplifting to join here.

The book-clutter-removal project is a thorough success. We are consistently selling books and a (small) handful of dvds. So far the best sellers have been old accounting books and old security books (!), old one minute manager books (!) and yoga dvds I don't use. Plus a few old VHS horse training tapes that I can't play any more. Almost no fiction of any type. Everything but the yoga dvds was a surprise. Yet, these books have paid for the bookcases that the leftovers are in, and probably made $200 or so on top of that. It's not exactly a profit because we paid full price originally, but on the other hand, given the choice between feeling guilty about throwing books out and knowing that someone wants these enough to pay for them, I'm very happy!

A few weeks ago I picked up a dvd with the rather obnoxious name of Magnificent Mobility, from a site with equally obnoxious advertising. Not at all my usual kind of thing. It's a library of drills for joint mobility, done by two strength coaches who have a very good reputation (Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson). I heard about it on a few different podcasts from professional trainers, and decided to take a chance on it. The dvd starts with powerpoint lecture and has youtube-like video clips of each drill interspersed with an explanation of what it is intended to do. Not Cathe-quality ... and more expensive than Cathe ... but you know? I'm getting a lot of value out of it. I have been pulling out a few of these drills for morning loosening up, and I am starting to see changes. Between these and regular use of the TRX drills, my body is in better shape than this time last year when it comes to flexibility/mobility - and that is the first time I've been able to say that with confidence! These are my baby steps; compared to Laura and probably everyone else on this thread I am stiff as a board, but for me, getting to the point where I am regularly enjoying this sort of workout is a huge victory. And Laura, that dvd you recommended by Rodney Yee was the first step. Huzzah! :D

Laura, your day was phenomenal! You know, I think you outskiied that flu or whatever it was last month, and you're back to your regular self and then some :) You are one of the best examples of balanced workouts and fun fitness I've ever seen. It is really neat to read about your adventures.

Shoegal, I've heard of these treadmill dvds. Have to say, I'll be curious as to whether you get to liking this one with regular use. One reason I like treadmills and elipticals when travelling is that they give cardio without all that jumping, so it's hard to picture using one that involves jumps. I can see why you picked it up though because if I owned a tm, I'd've done exactly the same :eek:

Janie, you are such a trooper - you should feel proud of having had the discipline to go through all that. Yuck!!! It is good to know what you are dealing with, though. BTW, I loved seeing your post about the weights you've using over on the other thread in STS. I bet a lot of people were inspired by that.

Hi to Michelle, Renee and IronLady! I'm going to see about feeding some hungry horses now.

Laura, Great teaching on Both your Pilates classes. They won't forget you too soon. LOL But, you did a good service for them. But then you went skiing for a few hours and also did Chest Shoulders and Biceps, then skiing again? OK, where do you find the energy? My lambs! If I sound a little enveous, perhaps I am a bit.:D I better get my butt in gear. Very proud of you.

Awe, sounds like you all had such a great family night. Lucky the girls are on Winter break, now they can enjoy their parents. I love hearing about your family and skiing trips.

I guess it was an ordeal, I was out when it happened, but the last couple of days well, it's OK too I guess. Considering that when you are over 50 everyone should have it done. It does help find colon cancer sooner than normal and can do something about it, or pa-laps to destroy because those can turn into cancer. I guess I would call it a little inconvenience.

I am so over having dramas in my life. I feel really good today, so will take one more day off from exercising. Then here I go again to try and catch up with you. You are so inspiring me to work hard when I can. I can't wait for Friday!

Shoegal, OMG! I want Extreme Moves, been eying them for a long time now. You say not as much fun as you'd envisioned. When you try it again let me know if you like it. I think I might. Thank you for the good thoughts and big hug. Also besides the delicious Fiber One, lots of rice and beans. LOL

What's really good about getting cleaned out (LOL) is that you can start over with terrific foods. Which I'm doing. I think I will cut out meat for awhile and see how I do without it. And other things too, like maybe coffee, and I say maybe, cause I love it so much. I hear though it's not to good for you. So, maybe. What a nice beginning.

Deborah, When you are not feeling well, then I say you can feel whiny. I do it all the time. LOL I sure hope you feel better soon. (((hugs))) and patting you on the back.

Awe, I know what you are feeling about your grandmother. As you know my Mom had Alzheimer and that is a form of dementia. I'm so sorry.

You rejoined our group? What? I didn't think I was gone that long to miss out on something like that. Please, let me get my two cents in. We need you! I'm glad you are going to be with us. WHEW!

Congratulations on the book clutter removal project. Those new shelves will come in handy for sure.

I'll check out Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson. Your suggestions are right on, and would like to see more about them.

I'm still using the same amount of weight forever it seems. But I'll get there. I now know what's going on with my body and will adjust to it. I'm just impressed on how this group is doing and impressed on some of the women in the Lurkers group as well. Man, they lift heavy! I'm the one that is inspired!

Take care everyone,

Janie

Hi! Taught this morning, more teaching than doing today because some of the people were having trouble understanding where the movements come from...I think they had a transformative experience, well one can hope anyways!;) Than did Disc #8. Once again unmotivated to get going but got into once I started and then Yoga Inspired Abs.

Shoegal: yea I think that sounds like not my cup of tea...the treadmill workout! I will leave that one off the list, PHEW! Glad you did it though and try it again, you never know, sometimes I don't like a workout and then I do it again and I love it! Then again I am a Gemini!

Shadowpup:what! You left us!! Without a goodbye? Well glad you are back! I think it is amazing your GM is 97! Wow! I am sorry she isn't doing well, do enjoy your time with her. Good success on the books! Enjoy your pets! I am going to check out Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson as well, sounds very intriguing to me. I have decided that my one definite purchase this year will be TRX, even before Insanity! It sounds like something to round out my program and I can get plenty of Cardio outside here in the summer plus all the DVD's I already have...

Janie: Thanks! ((HUGS))) you also inspire me as well for keeping fit and active at all ages and stages of life! It is amazing some of the weights you are lifting! I am so glad you are done with drama in your life!! You certainly had you share there the last 6 months, check it off your list for the year, you are done with that now on to better things!! LOL!

Hi Michelle and Renee!

Ironlady you doing ok?? Haven't heard from you in awhile.

Last night I did PowerHour - Woo Hoo - I love a good total body workout. I am partial to Total body over splits I have decided. I feel as if I worked everything and I'm done - with splits - it is a third of something and I need to finish the rest of it. Anyway that is how my crazy mind works. I wanted to watch the men's final in figure skating. I recorded it because I did not make it - I was way too sleepy. Tonight my DH and I go to dinner at Cliffords for Valentine's Day - and I am certainly looking forward to it.

Interesting thing - well - I was going through the many, many, many workout videos that I have - and noticed a Jillian Michael's DVD in there. I'm like - what???? Where did I get this? I think my sister had bought it - gave it a try and gave it to me. I think it was called "Winning by Losing" or something. It had a front workout and a back one. I was very close to doing it - but then thought - gee what if it's lame? I don't want to waste a workout on it. I do think though - that I'm intrigued - I have never done anything by her - so I think I will give it a try.

Laura - What is disc #8 - which body parts??? Well - you plugged it in - you got it done - and sometimes all you need is just to put it in and it all takes care of itself. Sometimes - however - it isn't like that & I count the minutes!!!! Well - I do need to do Treadmoves again because one time doesn't make up my mind - but maybe I'm past this now - I'll have to see.

Janie - There are 3 other Treadmoves videos that I have and I like those alot. I have had them for quite some time. I just recently discovered that I didn't have "Extreme Moves" and had to get that too. So you should look at what is out there to see if any of them interest you. I'm sure you and Joey will get going full speed again - no more drama - just some peace and some good solid workouts - that's the ticket.

Shadowpup- so happy that the clutter removal project is going so well. I'm inspired that others out there want those old books - I think that would make it much easier to part with them. Do you watch Pickers - where these guys go around the country and try to find antiques from private citizens to sell for profit? There are a lot of old guys out there that have buildings full of stuff that they have collected over the years and couldn't part with any of it. The Pickers come in and offer them money for some of the items - some of the guys are very hesitant - buy once that they see that the Pickers see the value in the items and know that it isn't junk - they are very willing to see it go. I joke that Rex is a little bit like that - and one day those guys from Pickers will show up and want to sort through his stuff. Rex did manage to sell some of his stuff on Craig's List and was quite pleased with himself - he said it felt really good.
I am sorry about your Grandmother - just be there for her - she will know it and appreciate it -but you already know that.

Hi to Michelle & Renee - where are you two??? I'm sure you are keeping up with STS - you guys have real resolve.

Well woke up late this morning  - I was like - how did that happen??? So I've got to get going. Hope you all have a great day!!!:)

I have not fallen off the face of the earth, and neither has sister. I think it's just getting back in the groove this week of actually going into work rather than working at home. Even though I haven't checked in for a few days, the workouts go on. Did MMA Boxing for the first time yesterday. That was lots of fun. I really enjoyed the core work at the end--a real ab burner. Today was break day which I am enjoying;).

Our snow has been gradually melting, but today it was in the high 40s and there is water running everywhere. Other than the plow piles on the side of the road, the roads are clear here. I think they are still having issues up in Northern Va proper, DC, and the Maryland suburbs, but life is pretty good here in Stafford County. The temps look like they will be staying on the positive side of freezing for a while during the daylight hours and not as cold at night, so as far as I'm concernd spring fever can officially start to kick in.

Janie: glad to hear that you have a final diagnosis on the GERD and no ulcer. And it definitely sounds like life is on a much more positive note for you these days. THAT is definitely good news. Now, we need to start thinking about that new bathing suit for your upcoming cruise....one piece, tankini, bikini? What's your preference Janie?

Shoegal: I'm kind of missing all my other Cathe workouts right now. Powerhour sounds like fun. But sister and I are halfway through STS--can you believe it? And I have to say, I am really seeing some change, both in how much I am lifting and in my core. Not so much into the treadmill here. I'm not a jogger/runner, just a dog walker and Ripken and I aren't setting any records. We just enjoy our walkabouts.

Shadowpup: I checked out half.com but didn't get too far into reading all the information. Is that where you are doing so well selling your books? Sorry to hear that you've been under the weather. It seems like you've inherited Laura's germs. Feel free to whine all you want. We all have our moments--it's good for the soul.

Laura: I'm not sure who said it, but yeah, with all that skiing and then STS legs, yup--your limbs should be feeling some DOMs. Is your trip coming up soon or is it in early April?

I'm enjoying watching the Olympics. I think NBC did a smart thing by broadcasting on 2 channels. Hate to see when somebody falls but I'm impressed with the way many of the athletes take the tumbles in stride. Sometimes falling is the cost of pushing hard to excel. Fortunately, with the exception of the tragedy on opening day, I haven't seen anyone get hurt. They get back up and push on. Inspiration for all of us in that.

Hello everybody.

Nope, haven't fallen off the face of the earth, just busy, busy, busy. Which is the way I prefer to be 80% of the time. STS and the rotation continues. I absolutely love it! I was tickled yesterday with my kindergarten class. I had an under armour shirt on, under my long sleeved shirt. I was warm, so, off came the long sleeved. A little girl proceeded to push up her sleeves and make "muscles". I was "gee, did I inspire the kid?" "Does even these young ones notice the slight defination in my muscles?" COOL!!! By no means am I a walking "Cathe" with her muscle definition, but its flattering none the less. Had dinner out with a co-worker and even she complimented me on my muscle definition. It is good to hear. We also went bowling. Its fun, but I'm awful, lol. Bowl around 100. Much better at wii bowling...lol. Wii bowl around 200.

Today STS continues with chest, shoulders and triceps. I am sure the chest work will be the hardest. It is what I have found to be the most difficult for me in meso 2. Tomorrow its suppose to be Hiit 40/20. The only one I have yet to do of the HiiT workouts. I guess I will go into it with no high expectations and just do it!

Sister may miss the other workouts, but I do love STS! It will be nice to complete it and do other Cathe workouts. Especially ones like Power Hour...to see how much more I can lift after STS. That will be cool.

Laura, I sure wish I knew someone to ski with. The more you talk about it, and with the olympics, I think it would be a blast to ski again. The nearest ski slope is an hour and a half away. And did I mention, my car doesn't do well in icy conditions? Not that the roads are icy, but I don't think I could get my ski's in the car anyway and its a convertible. Oh well, I'll just dream about it for now.

Gonna do some shopping with my Mom today, then home to do STS in the afternoon. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. ttfn

Hi ladies! So I when did I last post...the last workout I did was STS Back & Triceps on Thursday. My daughters have had a winter break so my 'schedule' has been different this week. We have skied together 3 days this week which has been absolutely glorious. We had the absolutely most amazing day together yesterday. We had a few fresh inches, which is perfect, not to much to get messy but enough to make the skiing feel like you are one with the mountain. We all skied our best yet this season. My girls are now skiing from top to bottom on some runs without having to stop and to be honest they are forcing me to ski harder and faster than normal! Yesterday my quads were literally cramping from the effort! We were completely wiped out afterwards!

So today is supposed to be a STS leg day but honestly I am thinking of skipping it altogether and let my legs rest. We are going down below today for a big Costco shop and to take the girls to see the new Lightening Thief movie. My mom is flying in tonight so me and the girls will stay down there with her and she is taking us to see the Denver Ballet's production of Beauty and the Beast and out for dinner. I don't know if I will get a chance to post until Monday or workout for that matter either...So have a great weekend everyone and I will see you on Monday.

Laura, I know how that goes, when you are a little unmotivated. But, you did a good job with disc 8 and abs anyway and I'm proud of ya.

Yes, I've just checked off drama for the rest of the year and will be doing better things. Like exercising!

Shoegal, Have you tried upper body and then a lower body workout. They are cool too. Cathe has a couple of them around.

Enjoy Clifford's tonight. Sounds like a romantic evening.

How was Jillian Michael's DVD? Curious too.

Yes! No more drama. I believe that is the ticket. I'll be looking at Treadmoves on the internet.

Michelle, You are doing really well on your workouts.

So glad to hear the snow is finally melting.

Spring fever? Already? Well, it is just around the corner. Guess I better purchase some seeds then.

Bathing suit: I'm thinking a tankini top with a skirted bottom. What do you think?

Renee, How wonderful to get praised like that by a child. They are so truthful. You must look fantastic! Good job on the STS. And more praises from your peers. Wow. That is cool:cool:.

Love the phrase: "Go into it with no high expectations and just do it! " Good advice.

Haven't been bowling for years, but I remember how much fun it is. Keep bowling and you'll improve your score. And have fun.

Let us know how you do on 40/20.

Enjoy shopping with your Mom.

Laura, It's so nice to be able to have those perfect skiing days with your daughters. They will cherish those memories for a life time.

I agree, you did plenty of leg work with skiing. OOOOOOO, a ballet performance, how wonderful. Tell us how about it afterwords.

Enjoy the dinner with your family. It sounds divine.

Have a good one everyone,

Janie

Today was STS disc 19, Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. Most challenging on chest: chest flys. Most challenging on shoulders: incline rear delt flys (ugh!). Most challenging on triceps: crossbody kickbacks. But I made it through all the sets and stuck with the weight amounts noted on my spreadsheet.

Shadowpup: I listed a bunch of books on half.com. Your success there has inspired me to try to sell some more books. We'll see how that goes.

Janie: a tankini with a skirt sounds super. Check out the line of bathing suits on www.talbots.com. Just got an email from them today highlighting swimwear. You might find something you like there. I'm a bit of a bathing suit nut, so stay tune for more suggestions on places to look. Another place to look is Boston Proper. I get their catalogue; I'm assuming they are online but I've never checked.

Laura: I can see why you wouldn't be super charged to do legs after all that skiing. The ballet sounds great. I love the ballet; haven't been in years. Not something Joe likes to do. I noticed that you didn't mention that your DH is accompanying you all on this particular outing.

Had another beautiful day here in Virginia. Temperature got up to 50 degrees. Lots more snow melted. Spring is only 1 month away. Yeah!

Hi to Shoegal and sister--hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

I tried HiiT 40/20 today. I kinda liked it! I like it better than Double Wave Pyramid, that one will have to grow on me. Of course I like having a step to do things on too. My favorite exercises were fast feet and the wide straddle jumps at the end. Love those BIG power moves. And I can see why Cathe has that one at the end. How do you go on after that?!?!

Other then exercise, its been fairly quiet in my world this weekend. "Down" days are nice when you know the week is jammed pack full. I like 'jammed pack full' so I take it nice and easy on the off days. Just need one or two off days...not a week...like multiple snow days...that makes me crazy.

I am very sore from yesterdays STS 19. Chest, shoulders and tri's are really paying the price. I think yesterdays workout was one of the hardest yet.

Tomorrow I find out the results of my oral surgery...biopsy. Doc said he was fairly sure everything would be okay (90%) but that leaves the other 10% of uncertainty. Ya'll keep your fingers and toes crossed that everything will be A-OK!

I bought a new wii game, Super Mario Brothers...and haven't played it yet. I loved the orginal nintendo and Super Mario, and I figure, as much as like the wii, I will love this game and not want to do anything else. Sister and I used to play Nintendo all the time when we lived near each other in northern Virginia. What good and happy memories they are! That was 20 years ago...WOW!

Okay, enough of memory lane. Take care everybody! Enjoy whats left of the weekend.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.

Joey and I went on another hike today. The weather was incredible! We hiked longer but the same amount of time as before.

Michelle
, Fantastic job on the STS disc 19. Very proud of you.;)

Thank you for the links. I loved the Ruffled crossover skirted one-piece. It almost looks like a baby doll nighty, so comfortable looking. A skirted ring bandeau one-piece and the ruched skirted bottom. In the BP loved Bohu clic one-piece and the Fringe one-piece. OOOOOOlala. Please keep them coming. I wanta look good!

Our weather too is excellent. Joey and I will be doing another hike today, but longer. Hopefully 3 hours. It's mainly just walking fast, on rocks,, so we have to be some what careful.

Renee, What is the trick on doing fast feet? I can't do them! I try and try and just isn't working. (frustating)

Good job on 40/20. I remember disc 19. It is hard, but you and your sister are doing great.

I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you, but stay positive that you'll be OK. Adding prayers and (((hugs))) your way.

My Joey offered to buy me a Wii, but I just would rather buy exercise stuff. My DS has one, and it's really fun, but find doing (exercising DVD's) are better for me. I'm looking for the next generation of Wii. I bet they will come up with even better things to do. Enjoy Super Mario Brother's, I remember them well, it was great fun and competitive.

Awe, memories of sisters. Aren't they special though?:)

Hello everyone -

Well DH and I enjoyed Cliffords - I was very good too - until . . . Neighbors or ours invited us out for a drink afterwards. I was hesitant - gee - dinner was enough for me to be honest - but DH coaxed me out - and out I went. Too many drinks later and a little Karoke and the night ended. It was fun - sure -but I would have been happy just going home - call me a party pooper.

Saturday I cleaned and prepared for a little Valentine's Day get together with my Mom, sisters and a dear friend on Sunday. I threw my annual little V-Day party (yes after Valentine's Day - it was the only available day). We all get together and buy each other a small $5 something or other - and had lunch - and talked. I put them to work this year hemming my new curtains in the living room. I think they look great - very nice - DH is less than enthusiastic about them. He said - "No curtains" - I said, "you don't have a choice!" :) I told him -am not blocking the view we have - just enhancing it - I doubt we will ever close the drapes anyway.

Laura - enjoy the ballet - sounds fabulous - a night with 3 generations of girls. What could be better?? I agree that you are creating wonderful memories for your girls having these great days of skiing - I say take advantage of spending times with your girls - it goes by sooo fast and you should take every available opportunity - so its okay to miss a couple workouts - you gotta live, right?

Renee - I don't play any video games at all. I just never got into it - we don't have any video game equipment whatsoever. I played Wii bowling once at my cousin's home one evening. Her 5 year old beat the pants of me and Rex! Do you have the Wii Fit?? I hear they are coming out with better and better programs for fitness - that might be fun. I sending positive thoughts about your biopsy - I'm praying everything is ok.

Michelle - you must be proud of your workout - sticking with the weights you had listed. I love that feeling of accomplishment. My sister is big into bathing suits too - me not so much. I have ordered swimsuits from Boston Proper though - they do have a site online.

Janie - the hikes sound fantastic - fun to get out and enjoy the day, isn't it? I was stuck inside cleaning - but to be honest - I'm a bit of a nut about it. I actually like cleaning and decorating. I made Rex hang the curtain rods - then decided that he ought to move one picture - hang a candle sconse (is that how its spelled?) and then hang another picture. I spent the rest of Sunday evening watching the Olympics and eyeing up the curtains. :D I haven't tried Jillian Michales yet - I'll let you know how I like it.

Shadowpup - on the road again? Check in when you can - we want to hear about your travel workouts!!

Okay - going to get started - hope you all have a great day.
