Exerciers with physical health challenges new check in

Hope you all are having a nice week so far.

Yesterday, I did warm up and skipped to conditioning of Hard Strikes, Paul Katami Ab Lab and a short yoga segment.
Today, I have so many errands to do so I'll see what I have energy for when I get home. Hopefully a walk! :)

All treadmill for me this week. My shoulder pain is getting a little better each day, but I might need to take another week off weights. But the retest results came back and it's showing some good progress, although there is still far to go, but the progress really gave me a boost for this next phase!

Hi LAdies, Last week was mostly yoga, took off fri, sat and sun to visit with my boys in VA. This week I am starting STS for 3 1/2 mo. I haven't decided if I'll do just the UB section or try to do the STS legs. I may do the legs in meso 1 & 2, definitely not in meso 3 since it is plyometrics.
Cendrine, I hope your shoulder is doing well, I get golfer's elbow flare-ups occasionally. It seems that the flare-ups always happen just when you are making great progress, so frustrating! I really hope that this doesn't occur with STS since it will be a gradual progression. I think I am going to lower my weights in all the mesocycles so that I don't get another flare-up.
Hi Elsie, I hope you are doing well. Have you gotten any relief from the heat? We had such a nice cool week, in the 50's at night, but now back to the 90's with humidity.

Hey everyone! *waves*
Nice to read your posts & catch up on how you all have been doing. Cendrine, so happy that your shoulder is healing. Keep us posted. I have to have a visit with a PT this week too. DREADing it. Wow, Katie. Go with STS!! You could always do another legs program right? To compliment STS upper strength? Maybe more barre type work with heavy band and isometric holding lunges.
Amy, wherever you are, hope things have been well in your life and that the anxiety has not been unmanageable. I understand what it's like.

So, I have been in a power outage for four days and very busy. Just came back on half an hour ago. We had a short but destructive wind storm. Weather changed super fast! I'm really miffed though that we missed the final two episodes of 'show me a hero'. LOL

so, my "workouts", (not really) were
Thursday - two walks
Friday - skipping and walk ....I find skipping so tough. It's tabata without even trying!
Sat - off
Sun - off, lots of junk food
Mon - off, lots of junk food

Have to do at least something tomorrow after I clean out that stanky fridge and the house. Uggh.

So on mon I did STS 1, today STS 2. I dropped my wts considerably from last time and my golfer's elbow seems to be back! It was feeling so much better so this is a big disappointment. I am going to see what happens next week, I may have to give up on this program for now. I was doing RWH for the last month without any issues so I did not anticipate this, maybe it is all the push-ups.
Tomorrow my plan is either LIS/CSS or turbo barre.

Aww, so sorry about the elbow pain. Sucks! Have you tried grabbing onto dumbbells on the floor in a push-up so you have a more neutral grip?

I've been doing so much yard work after the storm and house work the past couple of days, that I haven't had a lot of time for proper working out.
Today got in a short workout:
2 rounds of
Static side lunge w barbell overhead press X13 reps on each side
Serratus Push ups X13 reps
One-legged glute thrusts on yoga block X13 reps each side
Stability ball weighted overhead chest pulls and chest flies X11 reps
Parallel band tricep press backs x13 reps
& completed the lower body portion of Rapid Results Pilates

Today I did STS 3, the 100 rep for hip thrusts, and ab circuit stability ball. I modified a few moves and kept the wts light so hopefully my knees will be ok later in the day. I really hate having to modify things I had once mastered! Getting old and having joint pain really sucks!
Elsie, I really need to catch up on my yard work! It has been so hot and humid that I have been putting it off, hopefully this weekend will be better.
Have a great day.

I'm with you both on the hard work, this weekend is earmarked for some mayor yard time... Lol
I can smell fall in the air. It's supposed to get warm again but I can feel the shift.
I was able to do sts total body on Monday, then was nursing doms for three days and did high reps today.
Katie, I feel your frustration about having to modify. I can't do push-ups well any more, so I usually sub bench presses, not quite the same, but will have to do. Elsie, did you make it to PT? How are you feeling?
Amy, hope all is well, we miss you!

Today I did slide and glide, this w/o always seems to bother my knees for some reason. I guess it will be another one to put in the "I can not do it anymore pile". This pile is getting larger, lol. I really hope this new series will be good for all my ailments.
Tomorrow I plan to do some yard work, and I need to do some exterior painting. I have an area that I need to scrape away the rust and repaint. Hopefully I will get the energy to do it!!
Have a nice weekend everyone.

Katie, wow, 100 hip thrusts? You go!! That's impressive. On paper, your newest ailments are not keeping you down. : ) I am hoping to try some deep water running/jogging this Fall. The university near me is offering it and if I can fit it in, I want to try it for low impact exercise and water resistance rehab for the lower body. I will let you know how it goes. It seems it might be nice for your knees. Good luck on your planned outside of the house/yard chores this weekend.
Cendrine, congrats on sts and then onto high reps. : ) I just LOVE this time of year! The best time for me to go on hikes! Probably will go on a couple this coming weekend. Nope, haven't made that appt with the pt yet, I am procrastinating it. I think I am nervous about the insurance coverage etc.

I haven't been going at it as hard as you ladies for the last two days. Mostly restorative yoga and some floor barre type upper body work. Feeling pretty good though. Tonight I am planning a Melissa West eagle pose centric session and perhaps try some hamelin d'abell arm work again. It's different, but gentle for me now.

Yesterday, I went on a mostly moderate with some advanced places 6.25 hr hike (basically till DH gave out on me! lol) ....the trails were awesome. Weather is finally allowing enjoyable outdoors stuff.
Today in the am, meditative yoga and finished Cardio Leg Blast Extreme premix which nearly killed me. pm, just some mainly lower body stability ball exercises ..nothing crazy. My lower body feels worked, that's for sure.

Hope everyone is enjoying a bit of time off this long weekend. I was feeling in a rut myself, but I feel I am coming out of it now. : )

Elsie, I hope your DOMS won't be too bad after working your lower body so hard! Glad you're getting some good hiking weather! I love me a good hike!

I ran short on time today, so I just did the weight portion of cardio and weights.

I got rained out during my date with the back yard this weekend, so still more work to do as I find time!

Yes, Cendrine ..lol, DOMS especially in the hamstrings and abductors today! I just did some stretch and strengthen (mainly shoulders and back) pilates work tonight. I REALLY needed it. Heavy dumbbells make my shoulders ache.
Good on you Cendrine for getting in some lifting. The yard will still be there after the rain right? ;)

Wow a 6.5 hr hike, that is a lot of hiking! I don't think my knees would like that very much.
I didn't get any yard work done this weekend either, not because of rain, just laziness!! It was so hot and humid here that I didn't have the energy to do it.
I did CSS today, it is one of my favorite w/o's.
Tomorrow I am planning on attending my yoga class.

Been a real strange week for me. My Dad became ill and is in hospital now 5 hours away from home.
Haven't done a lot of straight up exercise. Wednes a walk, today a walk. When I'm stressed walking is best. : )

Today I did my own core, back with a little bicep circuit including low impact cardio bursts. It was slow going, but I got good workout in.
Also, went on a long walk this morning.

Elsie, I am sorry to hear your father is ill, I hope all goes well for him.
I did STS 7 today, the 100 RC for lat raises, scarecrows and bicep curls, and the abs 2 from RWH. Overall a good w/o!!
I hope you had a nice weekend, it was cool and rainy here in the NE.

That's a super charged workout Katie. Good for you!! Thanks for the words regarding my Dad. He means the world to me. I wish I lived closer.

Yesterday, I did another walk and floor lower body work followed by high rep deadlifts.
Today, i did a short FitnessBlender upper body with cardio one followed by Cathe Bicep Burn Sets. Killed those arms. :D

it was cool and rainy here in the NE.
Would that be New England or Nebraska?

Elsie, My father also lives about 5 hours away, it is hard being so far away. When I mother was diagnosed with her cancer I got home as much as I could, but with 3 children it wasn't easy. I am fortunate to have 2 brothers who live close to him. My brothers are great but they don't do the "little stuff" like a daughter would. He is really lonely, depressed and pretty much homebound due to back and knee pain. I feel bad for him but he won't do anything to help himself. If only I could convince him to take an anti-depressant, and get him to move to an apt with others his age. He used to love to socialize but doesn't anymore, he sits in front of his TV all day and does nothing. He has had two falls where he needed to help to get up, it scares me that he lives by himself!
Today I am planning on STS legs, disc 9 and the 100 RC for hip thrusts. I am enjoying STS again, I try to do this program at least once a year. I am not going as "heavy" as I have in the past with my weights, and I am still feeling it! I think this is by far Cathe's best weight program.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, both of you, how hard that is. I'm fully depending on my siblings to take care of my parents when the time comes, since they all live in Switzerland and I don't. Fortunately for now they are still both holding up well enough. Dh's parents though are 3hours away and they are needing more and more help. Right now we are trying to figure out how to get dh's mom to agree to a driving assessment to make sure she is still safe, which we worry she's not. Assisted living sounds so good to us and yet so repulsive to them...

There isn't a whole lot I can do about getting them to make good life style choices at this point, but it sure helps me focus on making sure I have good, healthy routines in place to grow old well. I hope I will Mai twin them as the decades go by...

Workout yesterday was high step challenge, the weight portion and today treadmill. Im busy preparing three classes for co-op starting next week's, so I'm more busy than usual and tired too...
