Dorky confession time!

I too am a dorky geek, or a geeky dork...where do I begin?

I also love Spongebob, Fairly OddParents, the Simpsons. I used to bully the kids into watching Arthur because I liked it more than they did. It is difficult to have a conversation with DH and me without hearing several Simpsons quotes. Or Monty Python quotes. Is there anyone else who can pretty much recite all of Caddyshack? Or Airplane? ("I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.") When DH and I were in grad school, we used to record the audio from those movies and listen to them in the car on long trips. We had seen them so many times that we could enjoy them without even being able to see the the video!

Let's see...other dorky obsessions: Mystery Science Theater 3000, Star Trek, Star Wars, Anything Harry Potter (has anyone else read Beedle the Bard yet?), video games.



And who else but a seriously dorky geek would spend as much time as I have turning Cathe into a bunny, a mermaid, or Robin Hood?????:cool:

Actually I would much prefer sports center than the Fishing/hunting that my oldest loves to watch.... ugh.... I do like that they both like the Food Network - which honestly totally threw me when I found some Food Network shows showing up in the DVR! :) I have two teenage boys.... :)
 
I LOVE listening to classic radio programs that my mom listened to back before television. I just happened upon them one evening when I was in the car flipping around for good station and I've been hooked ever since! The program is called When Radio Was and it's hosted by Greg Bell.

They air everything from mystery and detective shows like The Shadow, Suspense, Yours Truly Johnny Dollar; to comedy, including Burns and Allen, Jack Benny, Fibber McGee and Molly, etc. They broadcast some old westerns, too.

They're aired just as they were back in the day, including the commercials. The commercials are awesome -- so funny! I've even gotten my DH hooked on them. :D

Oh my gosh, I LOVED Trixie Belden books!! I forgot about them, must get my 9yo reading them!! ;)

I loved those books too. My mom used to reward me with new ones whenever I did something good, like good grades, etc. But my daughter doesn't seem to like them much.:(
 
I had a few Trixie Belden books, but what I REALLY loved was the Nancy Drew series!! Those books were written by a woman right here in Ohio, Mildred Wirt Benson. She was a reporter and columnist for the Toledo Blade for about 60 years.
 
Christmas books and movies (I could listen ALL year), B horror movies, SpongeBob, Tom and Jerry, all things crafty, cheesy vampire romance novels, I talk to my dog and I talk back for him, and I can spout off quotes from my favorie movies like crazy. There is a quote from "The Princess Bride" to fit any situation.

I love "the Brady Bunch" and "the Mary Tyler Moore Show."

Also......I record "What Not to Wear" on the satellite system DVR and watch the shows for hours on Saturday nights after I put my daughter to bed.


Yep....you read it correctly ladies....on Saturday night!

My husband just rolls his eyes.
 
I am dorky because I seem to "kill" a thread everytime I post - (I hope not this one!) and I am dorky because I am gullible and like any episode of "Three's Company"!

I love Howard Stern too. I love when the staff argues. I don't have Sirius radio, so I get Howard Stern On Demand. I couldn't live without it. :eek:

Okay, DH and I quote the Simpsons all of the time! I have a the first few years of it on DVD. It's common to hear us say, "This is just like that episode of The Simpsons, when ..."

Oh, and when the kitchen garbage can is overflowing, we call it a Simpsons Garbage Can, from that episode where nobody wanted to empty the trash so they kept piling stuff on and pretending it wasn't really full!


Michefit, I'm saving you from being a thread-killer! But this one is so much fun that I don't think there was much chance of it ending so soon anyway!


What about The Jerk? ("He hates these cans!") After all, what is a list of classic 80s movies without Steve Martin?

So, it's not just me? My Aussie Tucker was Tuckerboo (or ironically enough - The Boo). He was also Fatso (I got a "talking-to" by one of our search trainers that I should not insult him :rolleyes:), Handsome and Boyfriend (which caused no small amount of laughter when someone thought I was called my search sponsor Gordon, who is married, "Boyfriend"). Jimmy is Bubby Dog and gets called Bubbers, The Bubby Dog and Bubby-Bubby-Bubby Dog. He is also Goofdog, Furbutt, and Furface. I even sing to him (I sang to Tucker too - and my kids who think I'm about the weirdest person on earth - whether or not that's okay depends on the day).
 
Another Howard Stern fan here! LOVE HIM.I love the background clips Fred plays during the show, they are hilarious, Robin, Artie, Eric the Midget, High Pitched Bob...all of the messed up bunch. I agree about the porn star crap though, although some of those interviews really taught me WAY more than I needed to know about the "biz!". :)

Totally agree -- I love Howard, but they all work together so well - Fred is amazing and so quick!! - Robin and her 25 year old boy toy - I love when they give her a hard time and ask her if she's going to the prom!! - I love Artie and his heroin problems -- Eric the Midget - I wish he would let them fly him with balloons!!! - High Pitch Eric -- OMG The Craptacular was over the top! I could go on and on and on . . . .

Last night I was watching Top Chef off of my DVR and one of the chef contestants said "Bababoie!!" I died laughing! Howard Rules!! :cool:
 
I thought all the cool kids listened to Howard...I on the other hand am the ultimate dork and listen to Kidd Kraddick. Since I work with my husband I have turned him into a dork and make hime listen to it too.

Other than that I not only watch the food network but I tivo shows in hopes that I will one day make some of the things that I see on there. This ultimately never happens because if I want to make something new I just look something up on the internet.

I love the whole disfuctional crew. Especially Artie. BTW, has anyone read Artie's book? It's very good. It helps explain why he's so screwed up.
 
Regarding Stern, I remember listening to him while running on the treadmill one morning, and I had to jump off because I was laughing so hard. I believe he was eulogizing Tiny Tim. :eek:

Back to my inherent dorkiness, I'm classic for the harebrained comment. I swear, I am a relatively intelligent woman, but sometimes I think and, even worse, say stuff that plants me firmly in the Ditz category. God, how I wish I could take a pill for that.
