    Just before a workout, you're better off eating a little bit of slow carbs (like a banana or an orange). If you eat protein or fat, your system will be busy digesting, and you will not get an efficient workout (not to mention stomach cramps). If you don't eat anything first thing in the morning, you risk "running out of gas" in the middle of your workout.
