Daytona Trippers

Lisa I'd have to look and see if I have measurements and wt. I'm sure I do but maybe not for the same wt. You can't really go by sizes I don't think, aren't they making things bigger?
I planned on cw today but want feeling it so I went for a walk jog x 6 songs then did some cardio from 4ds BC.
I've got a baby squirrel nestled under my chin. My dd caring for it for work.. awwee.
Lisa are u the 15th,?

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday was a 1 mile open water swim! Tried out my new wetsuit and it worked great! Today I ran 5.3 miles and did PUB when I got home! Tomorrow will be a lower body BR w/o. I need to familiarize myself with the Cathe's premixes. I'm thinking no longer than 50 minutes max in the morning.

This week I'm pushing my wake up type back 15 minutes to 5am. I'm really thinking that 4:30am would be optimal, not ready for that yet.

Jody-I try to take my measurements periodically, but haven't for a couple months I don't think. I to weigh everyday or most days anyway and track that in a little personal calendar that I keep in the bathroom. It helps keep me on track. My new commute is exhausting...along with getting up earlier, sitting in traffic, getting home later. Hopefully I can stick it out for 3 months then start working from home 2 days per week. I'm going to request 3, you never know.

Lisa-those days you mentioned in August are weekdays. My triathlon is on Sunday, August 10th. I'd love to go if it is on a weekend, and not the 10th.

Angela-Hope all is well with you.

I'll check back in when I can, or at least text Lisa and let her know what I did!:p

bbl

Did a 2.25 mile dog walk, then FT minus the abs, then did 20 min reformer jumpboard (to replace the ab section I skipped).

Diana, we only hike on weekdays, especially the gray's/Torrey's 14er is PACKED even on the weekdays (makes it an issue when nature calls and there is no trees since it's above treeeline :) ). I think I've decided we will do Mt Sherman in Breckenridge, I'm just not to the level I need to be to tackle 2 14ers in one day, plus one of the people is from FL and flying in Tues to hike on Thurs (I tried to explain about altitude sickness.... this person says they will be fine, funny, my DS came home with an awful headache after his 14er). Wow, your Tri is close!

Angela, I branched out to KCM for some "easier' workouts for my recovery. I know lots love them, they are good for variety, but Cathe is still my girl :). I found Weights, Muscle Definition, Body Shop and Your Best body to be my favorites. I also got them at only $9.99 each during one of her sales. Lots like TLC boxing, it's meh to me. Of course sometimes I wonder how much my UB problems is influencing me....

Jody, the official BD is on the 14th, so with my plan we will actually be climbing the mountain on my birthday, waiting to see what the others respond to the plan I've laid out (grrrr, I do not want to plan it!). Did you see the discussion on the OD about menopause and middle sections expanding? So, it isn't my imagination about my measurements. I had to tighten up my flex fitbit band again and I did lose a pound this morning, so nice to be losing the weight in my wrists :). LOL. On the OD one person mentioned cutting dairy. Do you know why the dairy? (I've read it other places too). I am just going to have a problem cutting out milk and Greek yogurt (and I don't think I will either). Thoughts?

Hi Ladies,

Today I did BR Day 11. This is also the first day of my 12 week HM training. I should run 3 miles I think. It's hanging up at home, but I need to copy it and have it here at the office.

Pretty much all of Colorado is under a flood warning. Running may not happen tonight. Yesterday I left work in downpour, but we never did get any rain at home. I ended up walking around a park by my house last night to get to my 10K steps. This sitting/working business doesn't help.

Lisa-I won't be able to make a weekday hike unfortunately. I'm accruing time off, but will need it for the Holidays, Cathe RT etc. Thanks for the invite though and keep me in mind for future hikes-in 2015. Not sure I mentioned this, but I have to accrue Holiday Pay for the 7 holidays they recognize. I don't like that. I have a couple KCM w/o's too and still prefer Cathe. I also like Amy Bento. Woo Hoo for being down a pound!!! :D:D

Angela-I like how you are doing one body part from STS and a cardio! I think that's why Meso 2 is my favorite, completely exhaust 1 muscle group before moving to the next.

Jody-What are you up to?

bbl

Hi ladies, will make this short as I've been busy all day doing the planning for my birthday 14er hike (need I say more? ). I walked dogs 3 miles then did GG extreme PM (was questioning doing the extreme part... it he ball, floor, barre parts all seemed tougher this time )

Angela, I love meso 2 for doing 1 body part a day. I so want to do meso 2 (or at least heavier weights), I will discuss with therapeutic massage lady, but at this point I don't want to risk being in pain for birthday or Cathe road trip. So maybe after Oct! I am doing well this week, I think it was the piyo stuff overloading my weak UB muscles too much (that and the dogs jerking the leash, I used my words today (yes they do listen---- most off the time).

Diana, hope you weren't too bored today. I will keep you in the loop for future hikes, I love the solitude of the mountains so only plan them for weekdays, sorry! That's crazy about earning your holidays.

Jody, what up girl? Those steps seemed really close in the RT pictures!

Oh Angela, Cathe doesn't have a 'pause' feature for Cathe live, right? I'm thinking about signing up for a month, then canceling and restarting in future, is that what you do?

Groggy foggy post from me- no workout today but I did ME upper body yesterday. I'm not sure I will continue XT- 6 weeks was good.

Lisa, I looked at RT pics, too. Wah, most everyone looks so fit, I wanna be like them! I have faith Cathe will be mindful of tight spaces, but there is no accounting for me going left when everyone else goes right.

Diana, I hope you aren't also having to commute in rain. Good job keeping up w/ the workouts.

Angela, I'm sorry about your company having a mishap but good job on getting stuff done w/ guests in the house. Re OD threads about depression and expanding middle sections and aging- well, I avoid them. I purchased a bunch of KCMs as well, but I don't remember which ones I like most.

Speaking of being a vidiot, I want to get Body Beast but will wait til next month if it is still on sale and I still want it. And today the Terminator DVD is on sale again.

Hi Ladies,

I set up my step last night and intended on doing To The Max this morning. I didn't get started in time so ended up doing Cardio Super Sets instead. Tomorrow is definetly a weight day, just need to decide what to do.

The 3 mile run on the HM schedule did not happen. It's raining again today so chances are the 3 mile scheduled run for today won't happen either. The first few weeks is just building up to running 4 times per week before increasing the mileage too much.

Angela-where do you live again? I can't remember. Thanks for the suggestion regarding the December rotations. That is a great place for me to start! Speaking of Mammo's, I had to pay $450 for my second mammo with ultrasound. The 1st one was covered by insurance. I'm not sure what will happen with next one I have to have in January. I have different insurance though.

Lisa-things are picking up a bit for me. I spent some time with the sysadmin and he was a wealth of information. He's going to schedule an hour a day to go over how the systems are set up in this environment. I took E470 home last night. Even in the nasty rain storm it only took 50 minutes to get home. Of course I believe it also cost $15.95 for all the tolls. I'll check my account and then I will know for sure. I can't afford to do that every day, but with the I25 back ups last night it was worth it. Sorry to hear you are having to plan your bday hike. I know how much you love that.:p Probably won't get my 10k steps today...this rain puts a wrench in going outside.

Jody-have you decided on another rotation? ME UB may be an option for me tomorrow. It is crowded on the RT's, but everyone is so friendly it's not an issue. It's only 2 weeks to my triathlon? I'll probably be open water swimming this weekend, and riding the tri route.

bbl

Raining all day here, so no dog walk. It's amazing how many steps that little chore I can accrue. Even with doing DM (only drills 1-4) and BM2 W/U and final combos put together I'm still struggling to get my steps in.

Angela, that is a good idea about staying with endurance. GG extreme is basically the whole w/o with the bonus barre. I think us women ALWAYS reserved the right to change our mind!

Diana, do you ever do any running on the treadmill when it's inclement weather? I-25 looked awful last night! I know the tolls add up, a LOT, especially if you do it every day, I'm sure it was well worth the money last night. Glad work is picking up, it's hard knowing how different people can assimilate stuff at different rates. They'll learn you are a quick one :)

Jody, I was also impressed by the RT clip at how high some of the people were jumping. I did a pathetic attempt at DM today. I did do a couple of ploy's the normal way (vs just stepping to the side like I've been doing for LI). Let's just huddle in the back together! I wonder if the people at the Glassboro RT was more hard core since that is where Cathe's gym is. Maybe DBRT will be a bit more relaxed. Maybe Diana can compare since she's been to San Diego RT.

Angela, thanks for the Cathe live info. I want to get it for a bit, I just need to get my place set up for it. Will be interesting to see how well I keep up!

Oh I forgot to tell you all the most awesome thing that happened this morning. I was standing there in my black yoga pants and semi fitted top and DH said you are getting really skinny! I should make my birthday goal weight, I'm hoping for I can get even more off before the birthday party with my family on the 16th, but with the hike on the 14th I really do need to eat to get up the mountain!

Hi all,
Lisa, I wondered if the Jersey RTers were more hard core as well. Congrats on skinny wrists and hubby comment. If you are having less pain and good results, remember what it is you are doing right!

Angela and Diana, did you get new insurance thru the marketplace? I was insurance shopping today and may change plans.

Diana, your Tri is coming up in two weeks? It doesn't seem like you've had to train too much specifically for the event, or did I just miss it? You are probably Tri-Ready most of the time anyway, I'm guessing.

I did BM2 today all the way through. I might do this rotation for a few weeks next - http://cathe.com/forum/f100/nov-06-rotation-shock-your-body-236397/
I'm working tomorrow so I'll just drive by and read most likely.

To make up for the lack of dog walk (for me and the dogs) we went 3.5 miles today. Then I did HS, mostly just the cardio, I did some of the setup part (my core may be stronger from Pilates but the abs I did from Cathe was tough, I may need to start doing the ones I can to prepare for the RT), I added on BS Tri's (I figured to start with the UB group that doesn't hurt the area that always hurts--so far so good), then I did 25 min of an intermediate Pilates reformer w/o.

Angela, you must be a skinny mini! Normally thinish people have problem putting on muscle. I put on muscle pretty easily (but also fat :( ). I did 10's for the BS tri's and it was good (won't be that way for the other muscle groups I'm sure). I might try BS Bi tomorrow (have to seriously drop the weight on these as it irritates the neck muscles), also I'll drop serious weight on chest as I don't want those pecs to be stronger than mid back (one of the issues I think I did have).

Jody, hope the work day is going well. Funny thing, I'm fighting to get the boys OFF DH's insurance, oh the documentation they need to take them off! We have to provide proof they have insurance. I remember a decade ago dropping insurance (because of going to DH's plan) and I didn't have to provide any proof of insurance.

Diana, hope you are staying busy and hopefully the weather should hold for you to get your run in!

Oh, Jody, I wouldn't say I have no pain, just less pain. I think that Piyo with so much planks/pushups, lots of body weight (especially my heavy body) on the UB caused a lot of it (will confirm with therapeutic massage lady next week). Yesterday I think the scapular retractions in DM with the band aggravated that neck to shoulder area, I couldn't do anything to get it to calm down so turned into a grump (Suki wanted to play, I didn't, she thought I was mad at her, I wasn't just wanted to go to bed and get away from it all). Today much better (I also made sure not to sleep on my left as that aggravates it too (I think something about laying in one spot with the weight on my left side on sore muscles does something). So, remind me at Daytona, to not sleep on my left side after the intense day of working out! :). Since I've pulled out the foam roller that I did at PT, I;m thinking of pulling out the Anodyne light therapy and seeing if that will make a difference in healing of the muscles (I ditched that because I didn't see any benefit, but maybe now that it's close to getting better it will help speed up recovery.... well, I can wish :). )

Lisa, I said less pain. I know (or at least think) that you are always dealing with at least some discomfort/pain, but don't say much when it is at a dull roar instead of a raging inferno. I can't imagine dealing w/ that- it would be hard to not get depressed.

Interesting about the insurance and not being able to get your boys removed. That probably explains why my ex still carries the girls despite them being over 18. I pay in to his family deductible when they have any problems.

Hi Ladies,

I did CCC this morning. Tonight I went to a WW meeting near my house and am up 1.5#'s since a week and a half ago. I haven't been tracking at all though. My new company has an incentive program to earn $50 off per quarter on your insurance premiums by doing this like tracking your food/water/exercise in their site (similar to MFP). You can also track your steps, participate in races etc. There's a ton of stuff to help you reach the $50 discount. My plan is to track in WW this next week and my work system also.

The Jersey RT definitely has it "regulars". It was really fun to be in Cathe's gym, see where they film etc. San Diego had the beach and all the amenities of the hotel. No bussing between hotel and gym etc.

Lisa-DH's comments speak volumes. Be proud that your dedication and hard work is being noticed!!! I have issues with vertigo so I don't run on a treadmill. I also don't have a treadmill. I do have an elliptical but that is not a good alternate for running. Your several mile dog walk definitely helps with the step count! 5280 is have running 6 week program...80% nutrition/20% exercise. If I can find it on fb I'll post it to your page so you can check it out. I need to check it out since I'm very interested. I also plan on doing their fall Project Me program.

Angela-great job with Afterburn and Coremax #3. Coremax #3 is my favorite! You may like the Bodyrock 30 day challenge. It is circuit based, but there is a lot of weight work incorporated. I'd love for you to try one and see what you think. I'm considering joining Zuzka Light's Zgym: https://www.zuzkalight.com/plans/join-zgym/ There is a fee, but I may give it a shot anyway.

Jody-you are right, I haven't been training as much as I should have for this tri. I did do a tri in June that I did an 10 week triathlon training program leading up to that triathlon. My training partner tore her hamstring so she's out. I started a new job with a very long commute and was not able to take the aquatic conditioning class that provide me with 2 days of swim practice. I will get by in the tri, but am not anticipating stellar times. My insurance is through my company too. I have a high deductible plan with a health savings account.

Nighty night...5am comes early...:)

Had a busy day today. I took the dogs for a 2.5 mile walk, then did Step Moves and BS Back.

Jody, you are correct, it is easier dealing with it when it's a dull roar. And maybe you did say less, you probably understand more than most of my friends/family since you are in the medical field. These techies are oblivious (heck I was until I've now experienced it). Turns out we can't get the boys off our insurance even though they have their own until next open enrollment period (grumble, grumble), I KNOW in the past all we had to do was put in a request to take them off, this time, they need proof they have insurance and if it's been more than 31 days since they acquired insurance they can't be taken off. (younger DS it's been maybe 35 days because we didn't know they needed documentation and older DS I just had him on because it didn't cost us anymore a month).. Don't know if it's this new company DH works for or if it's ACA, either way, it's stupid IMO. So I'm paying $150 a month for the rest of the year for insurance we don't need.

Angela, hope you found a spot to get a workout in. I forgot how many/old your kids were. I think I like food too much (and the wrong foods). I do admit I feel better when I eat well. The burn sets seem to be going ok (yea me!), even if I used pathetic weights for BS Back today (I used 1/2 the weight Cathe used, which is about where I was). Using the BS DVD is helpful for testing out how well I can handle heavier weights, and hopefully I get some muscle back even with all the cardio I feel like I"m doing.

Diana, I almost did CCC (cardio only) today since I haven't done it in a couple of years, but decided on Step moves instead. I used to sail thru that one, I didn't quite sail today, it feels muggy to me. Wondering what the temp is like in OCt in Daytona (you'd think I'd know since I lived in FL so many years). 80 and muggy is HOT for me. I'm hoping to make gains in Daytona since we train at mile high above sea level! :)

Oh, I went to Kohl's today to look at swimsuits on clearance. Mine is old and the one I do like it goes around the neck, I never like those that tied at the neck, and now I don't think I could wear it. So picked up a couple of suits for $50! The pickings were slim, hopefully good enough for my birthday hike (we may go in the pool at the hotel ) and DAytona (surely we will walk on the beach the day before? )

Hi Ladies,

No workout to report for Friday. I didn't go to bed until 11 and the 5am wake up time just wasn't going to happen. On the upside, I walked when I got home until I got in my 10K steps!

This morning I did a 1 mile open water swim. It was 4 quarter mile loops with a 1-2 minute rest in between each 1/4 mile loop. We also intended on riding 15 miles. My bike tire was flat and I discovered my valve stem was broken, which is explains why I've been having trouble keeping my tire inflated. Anyway, my bike is in the shop getting a tune up and new tube & tires. Glad this happened today and not next weekend otherwise I'd be screwed. My bike should be ready on Tuesday.

I signed up today for a 6 week weight loss challenge, focusing 80% on nutrition and 20% on exercise. I'm hoping it will kick start this last 7-10lbs I need to lose.

Angela-That's quite an age gap between your kids. There is 8yrs between by oldest & youngest. Interestingly enough, the oldest and youngest get along great, the middle one is super mean to the youngest but gets along okay with his older brother. Yay for booking your airfare! Nice job with flex train. I use the step for the roll backs and jump on CCC. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Lisa-I picked up a swimsuit top at Kohl's a couple weeks ago. It's a halter style which I prefer, otherwise the straps always fall down. This whole new insurance being governed by the government is BS IMO. I only had in the 4-6K steps by the time I got home from work. That was enough initiative to get me out walking after dinner.

Jody-what are you up to?

bbl

Angela, yay, you are booked now!
Diana, my scale is solidly sticking at same place. I haven't been logging lately.
Lisa, you know I get crazy about insurance. I pulled out my old workout logs to see what I did when I was most "successful". Back in 2007 when I was most fit and lean and also last year and half ago. Overall, more cardio (longer and 4 times a week) and not much heavy weights were more predominant. Something for me to think about.

I walked dogs 2.1 miles, then did X10 LI and added on 30 min Pilates reformer/jumpboard.

Angela, I hear ya about upper arms being tight in the shirt sleeves, now that I've had to back off UB weights, my arms fit better. If only the bingo arm would go away! What other exciting trip do you have planned?

Jody, I've been thinking to get more of a long/lean look that meso/endo's need more cardio (I've always disliked cardio--once I get going it's good, it's just the getting going!). The bathing suit dressing room battle was an ugly one (and here I thought I had lost some weight! ). Good news, with me limiting any body weight on my arms (planks, pushups, etch) and NOT sleeping on my left side I feel almost human again! Very little pain. It will be an interesting discussion with the massage therapist this week. I've always preferred sleeping on my left side, and then couldn't even sleep on it without major nerve pain pre-surgery, I was so happy after the first couple months of surgery to sleep on it that I never considered it could cause the muscle to knot up. I hope one day to be able to sleep on my left side, if not, I will need some major sleeping pills!

Diana, good thing you found the stem problem on your bike now! I can't believe how close your tri is! Good job on getting your steps in.

Oh and Jody, when I was leanest was when I was walking my other dog everyday and not working (ie time to workout, watch what I eat, etc). I still have a ways to go, but I'm now in my hiking clothes again! Woot!

I did a 2.5 mile dog walk and then 40 min spinning (I did the studiosweat free one that was with Meredith, I preferred her the most so far). I may buy a month subscription, sometime. I sure had my sweat on!

I'm considering adding a hike in the day before the 14er, it's only 2.6 miles and 900 elevation gain (although done at 12,000 elevation), to me I think it wouldn't be any worse than walking around shopping in the mountains and I really don't want to shop! I want to go to our slice of paradise. Waiting to hear from my GF if she can add that one on too.
