Daytona Trippers

Angela, I'll prob be doing MIS - or pieces of it, too. I go lighter on Bi's as well. Was it painful for dh to walk?

Lisa, ya got me, I didn't do RS straight through. I used segment 3 no step while learning choreography as my warm up and then looped back and did all the segments starting with 1st section and skipping w/u and stretch. Happy BD week to you!! Have fun on your hikes and let us know how the get togethers go.

Diana, I think obstacle runs would be fun, have you done those?

I did Circuit Blast yesterday. Not sure about today... I worked all night and am short on sleep. I'll let ya know what I end up doing.

Hi Ladies,

No workout this morning. Working from home as the solar panels are being installed etc. I also had a massage appointment at lunch.:)

Yesterday I did Xtrain Bi's/Tri's and core #2. My triceps are sore today. Last night was the Tabata class at the new gym, not a fan. It was a free class so it was nice to try it out.

MIL's surgery went well, but she is not doing very good. She is in a lot of pain and is unable to get in/out of bed by herself. That is a requirement for her to be able to go home. She will have to go to a rehab facility which she is not happy about at all. She was supposed to get out of the hospital today and that is not happening. SIL was going to stay with her until Friday night when DH and I would stay with her through the weekend. Everything is up in the air right now.

My motivation-I used to be a runner, but after multiple surgeries and hardware in my right foot, well I just can't run as much as I used to. Its nice to just mix things up and try new things. I love to exercise and just look for new and fun things to do. I'm only competitive with myself and try to do my best. As you know, swimming isn't my thing so I probably have to practice more than the average person. I'm not a fast runner but I can do it.

Jody-nice job with RS! That is a fun one for sure. I'd be surprised if most cathletes don't have to go lighter on biceps than Cathe. I've only done one other obstacle race, it was a mud run and definitely dirty and fun!

Angela-way to go with MIS, used to be one of my favs. My first Cathe w/o's were MIS/MIC and BodyMax. The fast count on bodymax was really tough for me at first.

Lisa-OMG, you still beat my steps for the week even with my 20K steps on my Tri day!!! You are rockin' the spin w/o's. They kick my butt everytime! I ended up getting a massage at Impact Sports (Boulder Therapeutics) since they could fit me in on my lunch hour. She did a full body massage with the focus on my neck/shoulder area. She suggested I come back in 2 weeks. I may try to see what Christy's availability is for evening/weekends. Hope you are enjoying your birthday hikes. The Fitt Transformation Center (new gym) is offering the ProjectMe program starting in mid September I think. I'm going to get the details and will share them with you in case you are interested. It would be nice to have someone to go through this process with. :)

Diana, thank you for sharing about the tri motivation. I hope MIL feels better and has a speedy recovery. Did you see the 99 yo woman who was a runner? It was posted on VF. It was remarkable. Are you getting to work from home now?

Angela, did you end up resting? I like the step part of MIC and did that today. I thought I loved it b/c it has Roller Coaster song in it, but the rest of the music is sorta meh so I don't know why I get so jazzed about it but I like it.

Lisa, I liked your FB pic on the mountain. The hat makes me want to ask which house you were sorted into? Are you Griffendor? Happy BD! Edit--> I see now it was a BD hat on top of your hiking hat! At first glance I thought it was a pointy floppy hiking hat! I wish I coulda hiked it w/ you!

So I did MIC just the step part, and then BM1 upper body (a speedy w/o) and abs. Prior to that I did Tamilee I want those Buns but it was pretty easy, I may not reach for that again for another 5 years or make sure I add some wts next time.

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday was BR day 25 and today was Cardio Leg Blast! There is an 8am class at the new gym tomorrow morning that I may try. I have a lot to do tomorrow though, at the top of the list is an emissions test and passport renewal.

My dear MIL is going to be moved to a rehab facility for a week or so. She needs to be able to get in/out of bed on her own and she is unable to do that right now. This is her second hip replacement, the first one 3 years ago went much better.

I'm pretty sure I will be bagging the October HM. I just do not know when I can/will run. Mornings are ideal for me, but with it being dark at 5am that just isn't going to work. I struggle with the heat so I don't want to run at lunch or after work. It's a bummer since I already paid for it.

Jody-MIC is a toughie for sure. I'm always so happy when we get to pull out the steps! Great Job!!

Angela-thanks for the well wishes for MIL. I love her so much. My mom passes away when I was a teenager so she is really like a mom to me. Enjoy your weekend workouts, looking forward to hearing all about them!

Lisa-glad you had a wonderful birthday on the mountain. Let the celebrations continue!!! I notice feeling weaker on the left side, the one she really worked on in the massage. It's still tight, but nearly like it was before. You definitely pointed me in the right direction...thanks.

TGIF!!

Angela, deleting for privacy? Enjoy the weekend workouts whatever you have planned and check in when you can.
I did BM2 scrambled legs pm and quite enjoyed it. I actually dropped to one riser and used arms, gasp! My bb was 20 pds and I used minimal wt for lunges. Also, I shaved off about 15 min of the pm to reduce to 65 min. (No w/u or cool down, didnt repeat bonus segment and halved the lunges at the end). Take care and have a nice weekend.
oops, Hi Diana, we posted about the same time. Can you just half ass the HM and go anyway? Hugs to you and MIL.

Hey all, I'm back! Man was I beat today. I guess 2 days of hikes will do that to you, especially when yesterday's 14er we got up at 3:30am in order to get it done before the afternoon storms moved in. We made good time on it and I felt good, in fact I think I may have better endurance than I used to! We normally would have taken longer to get up, but I guess that we beat what it would have taken us by an hour (part could have been the threat of storms brewing). We only saw 2 people the whole time, until after we started down the mountain, then more were heading up, can't believe they were heading up with the clouds moving in. As soon as we got the car to the main road (there is a good 30 min of driving down a dirt road) the skies opened up and poured. Today I only took the dogs for a 1 mile walk and I tried some Pilates on the reformer but that only lasted 30 min and I ditched it, stretched (what I really needed). I just got up from a much needed nap (DH said I was grumpy, I was whoop a$$ tired).

Oh and, on top of the 14er, I noticed a twitching in the levator muscle (just like I did on the others after surgery), maybe the nerves are repairing themselves, it gives me hope!

Angela, one can use their neck to get more weight up with the biceps. Now that I have to take that out (and one should, but I didn't know better before), I can see that I have to go lighter on biceps than Cathe too. I've never done MIC (I have it), I never gelled with it and I'm not even going to try now.

Jody, yes it was a birthday hat headband on top of the hiking hat. I was being a goof. Just wait until the hat I have for you to wear on the RT.

Diana, I hope your MIL recovers quickly, my sis had to go to a rehab place after her hip replacement when she was 46, mainly because she is obese and couldn't get herself around. I wonder what the difference is this time for MIL.... hopefully you still mean you are doing the tri and just not going to stress over the training.

Girls, I'm so tired, I'm hardly thinking, sorry if I wasn't personal enough! Angela, get in those weekend workouts as I don't think I will get much in, the family gtg is Saturday night. I may not be back until Monday (when life settles down).

KCM Shape Up done. That is a really nice w/o. Also BM2 is a really awesome dvd, so many ways to use it and the step is really fun, imo.

Hi Ladies,

I went to the bootcamp class at the new gym, awesome! Then I came home and did STS disc 2. Yep, I'm considering doing the 3 month program of STS. I think it will work nicely with ProjectMe. My coach wasn't at the gym this morning so I was unable to get the necessary details.

Lisa-Hope your birthday celebration was awesome. Looking forward to hearing all about it!

Jody-BM2 is a favorite of mine too!

Angela-hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Off to shower, shop, visit MIL etc!

Trying to get back into the workout groove after all the birthday festivities, I was beat yesterday! I haven't even gotten my steps in for the last 3 days. Today I walked the dogs 2.9 miles, then KCM BS#2, then 40 min of spinning (I really think the spinning helped my hiking ability). At the birthday party my BIL (who is a chiro) said I had good muscle tone in my arms, that made me feel good considering I can't lift heavy like I used to and may never be able to. Proof you can get it done with lighter weights? (5,8, maybe a 10)

Jody, Shape up is one I don't have of KCM, I must say, Cathe is still my girl, too bad I have to modify so much.

Diana, I was totally wiped out Sunday from all the birthday stuff, from hiking to the anticipation of the party to the party itself. DH is out of town this week so I must get back into the groove, too bad I have sooooo much birthday cake leftover even after sending some home with DS to KS and freezing some..... it's calling to me.....

I woke up sore! Mainly in glutes. Geez, I took a break, these last couple days but my glutes mush have thought otherwise! I walked dogs 3.5 miles and then did Cathe Live HS Boxing, it was OK, low key which was good for me today.

Angela, you got done what's important, workouts!

Hi Ladies,

This morning I tackled STS disc 1, CSB. I am much weaker than the last time I went through this rotation. It's good to get back to it. As always, my left side is always weaker than my right and this rotation really helps eliminate the imbalance. I'm undecided on going to the Tabata class tonight. I wasn't that impressed with it last week but feel I should give it another try before writing it off. Alternatively, I could just go home and do the 3 mile run on my HM training rotation.

My massage therapist worked on the upper chest muscles, and Wa La...no more shoulder pain! She said to make sure and stretch the chest after each w/o. I haven't yet made a follow up appt but probably will soon. My left shoulder/neck is still not quite right, but is much improved since the massage.

I visited my dear MIL last night. She is getting much better and will get to go home on Thursday. :) Not sure what date's/times we'll be staying with her yet. We will alternate with my SIL.

Angela-although you've been busy, you've also been getting in some great w/o's!:):D;)

Lisa-glad you had a wonderful birthday celebration(s)!! I'm a chocoholic, so I totally understand the cake calling to you. LOL This new gym I'm going to has bootcamp class on Sunday Mornings at 10. I'd love for you to join me. I've gone twice and really like it so far. I hope to try the Sat 8am class at some point.

Jody-What have you been up to?

bbl

Hi Ladies,

This morning I did Tabatacise and Core #1. I haven't decided if I want to do legs or cardio tomorrow.

I was so tired when I got home from work last night. My intention was to give the tabata class another try but traffic was so bad that I didn't get until I was 20 minutes late so I opted not to go. All I managed to do was some laundry.

Angela-I haven't done LIC in ages, that was a long w/o! Is that the one with the green sashes? It's not a fav of mine. Great job getting it done!

Jody-I have a couple KCM dvd's that I bought from another cathlete. To be honest, I only tried 1 of them and although I liked it, I still prefer Cathe. Lowmax is a fun one for me, but it is long.

Lisa-what do you think about joining me for the Sunday-10am bootcamp class?

bbl

Walked dogs 3.6 miles and then did Cathe Live High Intensity Cardio Step. I liked this one.
I forgot to tell you all about my backpack story. So, I wondered why during the first hike last week why was it pulling so much on my shoulders, then at the end of the hike I realized why. My waist strap on my backpack was set big enough to fall past my hips. I had it that way from the last hike, so proof positive I've gotten smaller and my hips must be smaller than I realize.

Diana, I've been meaning to ask if the extra lanes on I-25 is helping at all with the commute? I'm not a big fan of Bootcamp (those are my least fav Cathe workouts), keep asking me about local things, someday there may be something I like or is cheap enough(remember I don't work anymore). Zumba would be something I'd try. I prefer CAthe to KCM too, especially the cardio.

Jody, hmmm, see, I really should pull out LM someday, I always only used to do a premix of it. Thinking it would be good as an add on workout. I think I overdid it on the Hard Strikes boxing yesterday, my neck/shoulder muscle is tight, I've been trying to get it loosened up all day, and my version was more like Soft Strikes :) so I opted for only cardio today, and then boom, there was weights in the w/o (I only used 3 lb weights, they were to up the cardio instead of jumping is what Cathe said, and it did!)

Angela, hope life calms down for you soon!

Hi Ladies,

Rest day for me today. I just wasn't ready to get up when my alarm went off. I totally overate last night and should really be working out though. I feel yucky from stuffing my face last night. UGH

Lisa-the class is called Sunday Fun Day. The first class was 4 or 5 rounds of 4 or 5 exercises for time. Warm up then Jumping Jacks, Russian twist, pushups, high knees, plank. This is just an example. We would do each of those for 30-50 seconds with a 10-20 second rest between them and then repeat 4 or 5 times then take a 1-2 minute break before moving on to the next grouping. It's more along the lines of Cathe's HITT disc. It's not all cardio though as we do planks, pushups, lunges, leg kicks etc. The second class I took we did like 20-25 exercises (same format 30-50 sec work, 10-20 sec rest), rested after each round and went through them all 3 or 4 times.

bbl

I walked the dogs 4 miles today, I went longer because someone that was walking that was from out of state joined up with me :) She was nice. I then did KCM Body shop UB premix, well, I think I overdid it on the back rows (you row out to side), so sitting with hot rice bag on it now (hoping to catch it before it gets worse), I skipped the chest work, then I started a spin class and my internet went down!!!! grrrr, this is my problem with on demand stuff! I almost bagged it (had only been spinning 7 min) but then I remembered I had one that I downloaded. Whew!

Diana, I'll have to see if DH will be going out of town again (he's been gone this week and I think he will be gone next 2 also), so I really should spend weekend time with him :)

Hi, I can't see previous posts so no personals. I did cardio blast kcm on....wed? I prob won't work out again till next week unless I do stairs at work.
Lisa I'd never think of LM as an add on!
Ttyl, I'm working a lot this week.

Hi Ladies,

So yesterday was not a rest day after all!:) When I got home from work I did STS Disc 3-Legs! This morning was BR Day 30.

MIL is being released from the rehab facility today. DH and I are spending the weekend at MIL's to take care of her. Not sure if/when any workouts will take place. I hope to run on Saturday and make the 10 am class on Sunday. No guarantees though.

Lisa-I totally understand spending the weekend with DH since he travels so much. Whenever you are available let me know. I only did STS last night since DH was visiting his mom.

Angela-Walking counts too ya know! Some days that all we can do. I do not have a membership at this new gym. It's not like a standard gym that is full of equipment. It's in a warehouse really and one side is dedicated to youth sports performance training and the other side is used for adult fitness, nutrition meetings etc. Numerous sports teams train in this facililty.

Jody-Sounds like you have a busy few days ahead of you. Stair walking is an awesome exercise!

TGIF!!!!

I only walked the dogs 2 miles, and then did Cathe Live Imax workout. It was good but she did get confused a couple of times, ah the joy of live (yet taped) workouts :)

Diana, yep DH leaves again next week. Thank goodness for the dogs otherwise I'd be talking to myself all day -- at least they are here to listen to this crazy old lady :) Good that MIL is coming home, I'm sure she appreciates all you and DH do for her.

Angela, airport walking is better for you than people watching :)

Jody, I meant add a section or 2 of LM as add on, I guess I think that way because it isn't a fav of mine. Not sure why. Don't work too hard!

Angela, the music was good on the IMAX live workout too. Music makes all the difference!
