Come say hello if you're around

Hi Cathe and Happy New Year! I'm enjoying a hot mug of green tea myself. You must feel like you can fully exhale now that the STS editing is completed. Congrats! I look forward to receiving the workouts. Have a great weekend!

Wow Linda.....you're even more of a machine than I thought! You go girl! :D

Thanks, Cathe!

My plan is to do cardio (Group Step or Cycle) 4 days each week (maybe 5), and then find a way to sneak in an upper body STS work-out 2 days per week. At the ripe old age of 55, I need to keep my metabolism in high gear AND be ready for a bikini :D by May!

You got that right One Buff Mom! Thanks for your sentiments and soon we'll be hitting STS together!

mmmmm...green tea, love it!!

Cathe...any advice as to an alternate for deadlifts...I can do them, but only 10 pounds per hand...is that enough weight to reap any benefits?? I tried googling deadlift alternatives and came up with squat...(not squat the exercise, just squat in general)...;)

See ya in a couple weeks!

You are too cute Zellybelly! I think you would actually do great on the 6 month plan by doing each of the weekly DVD's for two weeks in a row instead of just for one week. That's actually how I prefer it but I know the sound of 6 months sounds way too long for many. Go for it! :)

Little nervous about doing ALL the new STS workouts. I am a "routine person" (i.e. a nerdy accountant) and I like knowing, ok here is the break where I need to add another riser or I am doing this DVD today make sure the step is point this way etc. Any suggestions on how to tackle all the new workouts? Honestly I like the idea of the 6 month rotation (doing each one twice) to feel familiar with the workouts.

Thanks!

Cathe, just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your great workouts. Honestly, you are just incredible! I also really want to thank you for the wonderful people you work with - you are all a fantastic team. Also, to tell the truth, I didn't mind how long STS took - I know it will be great, but the challenge of it makes me look forward to it and anxious at the same time.

Do I believe my eyes?

Cathe! Are you really, truly going to do an STS rotation with us???? That is so COOL!!! Please say you're going to join a check in, too!

What kind of benefit do you think you will get at this point in your personal development? Is it possible for you to get any more defined, leaner, or stronger?? Or are you just going for maintenance?

I am telling you I am the "queen of routine", so much so my dogs even conform! They love doing the workouts with me. My dog Zelda who loves to have her belly rubbed gives me facials while I do flys on anything laying on the bench, her favorite is to sit on me while I do sit ups - talk about resistence! Both of my dogs like to lie in front of my Schwinn Airdyne (the one with the fly wheel) while I bike and they actually look ticked when I am done! I mean one hour on the bike and they are like " keep going mommie"!

Well I am very excited to get STS and I am sure the doggies will help out. I hope that you and your family have a GREAT new year!!!

Gotta love those poochies...Big sloppy kisses to them from me :p

Hi Sandra! Santa has been very good to me this holiday and blessed me with one heck of an appetite. As I editied STS these last few months I realized that what I viewed on screen was no longer what I currently viewed in my mirror, lol. So I am doing STS to get back what I once had.

Thanks so much for the feedback Cookie! I'll pass on the word :) Just think, soon we will all have a nice case of DOMS to talk about

STS Adventure!!!!

Hello, Miss Cathe! Happy New Year! I kicked off 2009 with my beloved 4-Day Split Kickbox cardio premix (which is my favorite kickboxing workout of all time). Fun, fun, fun! It was my first Cathe workout since Thanksgiving, and I missed you! I am looking forward to your next cardio series (whatever and whenever that may be)! I am looking forward to STS too (especially knowing that you will be on this fitness adventure with us)!

Thank you so much for creating the one-rep max charts for STS with the star ratings. I am visually inspired, and I love the pictures. Can I focus on testing the exercises with 4 stars and 5 stars, or do I need to test the exercises with 3 stars too?

Have a blessed 2009! Hugs, Cathe! :)

P.S. I am very impressed with the quality of my pretty pink Cathe stability ball. I feel much more secure on this one.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Hi Cathe (if you're still around) and Happy 2009! I hope your holidays were at least a little relaxing for you. Glad for you that the STS editing is done and hopefully will be completely out of your hair (and well into ours) soon.

My 1RM testing is also underway, though this trainer I told you about is doing her level best to get those maxes up up up in my final few weeks with her. Pretty darn proud of myself - I deadlifted 200 lbs from a 4" platform box today. Kinda' cool that this 45-y.o. can seen those results, and so much of it is owed to the product you've given through the years. I just wanted to say thanks from the bottom of my heart! You rock!

Stay well.

Hi Cathe!

Happy New Year to you and your family. :)

I look forward to STS -- I've been in "study lock-down" and my mirror is a little "off," too. The reflection looks slightly, um ... wobbly? My, it's been a busy few months.

Thanks, Cathe, for all your incredibly hard work and dedication.

I wish everyone at Cathe.com a warm, blessed, and successful 2009!

Warmest wishes,
Marla

Hi Jerry. I didn't forget you, I just didn't get a moment to answer you last week :)

Well, for anyone with concerning back issues, dealifts are considered high risk. So I would say to find a substitute. Deadlifts work primarily low back, hamstrings, and glutes so yes, you can do other exercises to target these areas. Since you mentioned squats, if they don't bother your back, you can do them. Try Plie squats instead as they will take much of the presure off your low back. You can also do lunges to get your hamstrings and glutes. You can do stability ball roll ins for hamstrings and stationary supine planks on the ball for low back and hamstring strength too (when you are on your back with your feet on ball and press your feet down into ball as you engage your core and lift your hips up and keep your arms down at sides). You can do supermans for low back as well. I hope that helps. Let me know if you need more help.

Great to hear from you Heather! I see you are focused on fitness and that is great. Glad to hear you getting prepared for STS. Yes, just focus on the 4 and 5 stars for now. They are the main ones. Happy New Year to you and btw, yes, those stability balls are nice and sturdy.
