Looks great, saw some good modifications too! I have a “dumb” question, what is the
distinguishing difference between a hook & a body shot…kind of looks the same to me,
but there’s gotta be a simple difference. Thanks
During a hook, you're arm and elbow are parallel to the ground. The "opponent" receives the hit/punch from the side. It can be aimed at the head OR body (depending on your height, the height of your opponent, and whether or not you've used your legs to jump while punching. A body shot is any blow aimed at the torso of your opponent. So, a hook can be a body shot. An uppercut can also be a body shot. The uppercut is a punch that comes from below (think of your bent arm being perpendicular to the floor) and can be aimed at the solar plexus (kind of between the bottom of the sternum and above the stomach) or the chin. So, the hook comes from the side of the target, and the upper cut comes up from beneath the the targeted area. Those are terms for specific punches. Body shot is more generic and is speaking of the targeted area, rather than the type of punch. I was in Tae Kwon Do many moons ago. lol When in doubt... throw a hook... Punching is great for the core, but I've always felt that a hook works more of the core, and also gets your shoulders into your workout a bit more. :) I haven't done cardio for awhile (still struggling, so focusing on strength), but back when I did... by the end of the workout, I was beat, and my mind loses focuses when my body is tired, so if I couldn't focus on what specific punch she was doing... I'd just throw hooks in there until I got back on track. lol

You’re giving me some ideas. I can actually do burpees with my 1 pound hand weights.

We have a heavy bag but I haven’t been using it because of my neck. My 82 push-ups with only muscle awareness the day after is making me think I may be able to work up to it. I do admit I like using a fast snap for air boxing and find I lose some of that with the full gloves but not the weighted ones.

So... are those like microload gloves with the weighted area on the back of the hand?
Yes but they are each 1 pound and you can’t adjust them further. I started using sand weights with a hand strap that each weighed 1/2 a pound. Advanced to these and feel that they’re my sweet spot for air boxing. I have 2 pound sand weights and use them on occasion. Air boxing isn’t about adding muscle or strength for me. It’s all about the cut. Just my personal preference.

I'm going to love this! I love it when people I've talked to think cardio kickboxing can't be very effective "you're just punching air." All doubters should have Santa put this in their stocking! And it has my favorite kind of burpee in it. I once discovered in another Cathe workout that doing burpees with my padded gloves on feels more natural and comfortable.
