    Cathe - question from a five-year old

LOLOL!! So cute! I hope Cathe sees this. I'm sure she'll get a kick out of our kids. :-) My son (now 4) calls Cathe "Caffee." He says "She's stwong. She has biiig muscles!" LOL

Why do people still believe in....

This is true, however, I try to eat reduced fat dairy (never fat free, other than skim milk) and the leanest meats and such I can find. But as far as anything processed that is fat free, forget it! I despise foods with high fructose corn syrup!

Weight Watchers Diet and Protein Consumption

I need to lose more weight than you, but I'm gaining both strength and muscle while doing WW. IMO, the amount of protein you consume should be proportional to the calories you take in - in other words, it might not add up to 100 gm., but that's okay. My protein sources are mainly peanut...

    Scar camouflage

Cathe has a couple. I wonder if you could try asking her. I have an icky 6" gallbladder scar and it recently occurred to me that I could have it tattooed. Hmmmm....

What are you reading right now?

I did a paper on "Their Eyes Were Watching God." Great book. I'm an English major and never got around to reading "To Kill a Mockingbird," not even in high school. So, that's what I'm reading right now. :-)

Jay Leno - I'm glad I live in America - This is long -

Okay, maybe I shouldn't have said freaky. How about obnoxious?

Deleted Reply Ack! I mistakenly thought this was Open Discussion.

How many risers do you use?

I use 4, and that's plenty for me.

    B & G or GS Legs

I like GS Legs because it works the overall leg. I feel B & G mostly in my inner thighs and butt. There isn't much, IMO, in the way of calf, quad or hamstring work. The exercises are very specialized to target the glutes. B & G has phenomenal ab work. My core was noticeably stronger...

    Cathe Calendar Results for April!!!

Hi Heather! I had to do a search to find your thread. I was hoping to see you here this month, knowing you had a tough March. It's so good to see you back on track again! :-) I had net loss of 1 pound for April. Better than nothing, right? My total loss for the year is also 20 lbs. I...

    low impact circuit

It's hard to compare the two because they're similar in structure and yet different. LIC has low impact cardio followed by a blast, whereas C&W is just 5 minutes (or so) of higher impact cardio. LIC follows the cardio with a compound exercise like C & W but I find my heart rate stays...

    Alec Baldwin rant

I'm not sure there is a single one of us who parents a teen or pre-teen who can make a claim to perfect parenting skills. We're all in the same boat. It's a terribly difficult job. We don't know the entire story about Alec Baldwin's message, and I'm not sure I want to. He had a weak moment...

    high step challenge

I agree, Muscle Endurance is pretty tough. It's fun, though. If you want a good bang for your strength training buck, you can't go wrong with the Power Hour/Maximum Intensity Strength/Body Max DVD. PH and MIS are really good total body strength workouts.

    high step challenge

I run so much farther and faster, and with better form, since I started lifting. As for "too much bulk," I'm a fairly muscular gal and that's never been a problem. Lean muscle is nice and compact. As for leg fatigue, as long as you time it so you don't run the day after a hard leg workout...

    What is it with Walmart??

Whoa. And ditto Beavs. I've rediscovered Kmart. It's clean, well-stocked and the people are kind of nice. Who knew?

Is sweat the best medicine for a cold?

I thought that a dirty environment is good for us. Builds the immune system. <smirk> I try to exercise when I have a cold, but at those moment when I'm just dead tired, rest does just as much good.

    Imax 2 vs. Cardio Fusion

I couldn't quite finish Cardio Fusion the first time I did it, whereas I can get through Imax 2. Imax2 builds in little recovery breaks so I can catch my breath. CF doesn't have that and I found myself hitting "pause" fairly often to catch my breath before moving on, especially after each of...
