What happened to my summer (RANT)

Okay this year Mother Nature decided the Northern Midwest did not deserve summer or even a fall so far. After a fairly mild winter, spring was cold and really rainy. It finally started getting into the seventies in late June and the eighties in July. We only got to the nineties once or twice. Don't get me wrong I prefer the weather in the 70's myself, but we didn't seem to have much of that even. By the end of September the temps started to really drop again. Our weather here has been tracking 10 to 15 degrees below averages for what seems like forever (since spring). :(

We already had our first flurries this past weekend. It's 41 and rainy here. It's been a cold, cloudy fall so far and it's not a good year for fall colors. BLAH BLAH BLAH. Okay, I admit some of my mood stems from the cloudy weather as of late, but really.

Sorry. Okay for the brighter news now that I've brought everyone down..... STS Cardio filming is in the works!!!!

I am mostly bummed that we were totally denied FALL!! Summer can go to he** for all I care, because I cannot take the heat. It makes me sick, lethargic, and very unhappy. But fall is my absolute favorite time of year, clear skies, beautiful landscape, crisp weather. It's intoxicating. This year, we got less than a week of it. It literally went from the 90s into the 30s overnight. We spent about a week going from 80s/90s to 30s/40s to 80s/90s to 30s/40s and back again. A few days of beautiful fall weather, then BAM, continuous winter weather. Then everybody got sick (surprise surprise) and received the snow as a bonus :p.

It's crazy!

Dawn, I'm righ there with you. Here in Ohio we didn't even have a summer. Like you said, it finally started getting warm at then END of June and never did get extremely hot like it usually does. I prefer lower 80's with no humidity and we did get a few days of that, but all in all, this summer really sucked!

And now the high's this week are only in the 40's. WTH?

Global warming my @ss!!!

........ A few days of beautiful fall weather, then BAM, continuous winter weather.....

You rang??? :p Actually, I was very happy with the way summer went here in the Northeast. It only got hot a handful of times. I love the mid 70's temperature. I think summer went so fast because we weren't sweltering in the heat on a daily basis which seems to make summer drag, at least for me anyway. Fall here has been pretty good. We're going through a bout of rain and cloudiness and the leaves aren't as colorful as previous years but overall I can't complain.....at least not about that. Now other things, that's a different story! :D

Bam

Minnesotan checking in here... We didn't get a summer either. And just when we thought that Fall was here-the leaves were just starting to change, the temps were fairly nice-BAM! We get snow and cold!!

Not only did we have a long @$$ winter this past year; it didn't get summer-like here until late August. Even then the temps never really got much above 75. Had only a few days in the 80's and I don't recall one day (in central MN) where it got to 90. Now, we don't get fall.

On the bright side...tomorrow is Friday!! ;)

Michigander checking in! Or, a Michigoose, I guess!:p

Our outdoor family pictures have been rescheduled 3x (!!!!!!!) because of lousy weather.

Dawn - Summer was pretty non-existent here. We barely got into the 80's and maybe hit the 90's once. I normally wouldn't mind the low 70's, but this was only my second season with my pool and it was never warm enough to get in. I had maybe 1 good week. The rest of the time I froze my butt off. In the past 100's weren't unheard of for Summer. I shudder to think what the Winter is going to be like!

Good to hear I'm not alone guys. Everyone think warm thoughts I guess.

Janie, you are kidding right?!!? :p I looked at a map and the temps there are all between mid 60's and 80's to the south with what appears to be no to little cloud cover right now or am I reading the map wrong?

Gayle, I have officially heard of Buffalo Tom now. Although the words to the song were not clear on my crappy computer speakers so I have no idea what the song was about other then summer ...

Lianne, So this is all your fault huh? ;) Don't you know buying pools changes weather patterns... :p

I agree about being more upset about fall, but I'm still hanging on to a glimmer hope that we'll get a little bit of one yet....

Another Michiganian here (I'm a rebel and refuse to say or type Michigander :p ) My summer not only flew do to the weather, but the fact that my boys baseball stuff went to the end of July. So, we got August, parts of which weren't really like summer. We vacationed up north, straights area, wearing fairly warm clothing. I'd like to think we'd get off with a light winter after this. Can't even judge by the wooly bears, cause while they are usually numerous, they are remarkably absent this year.

Ditto here in RI! We had a horrific winter (tons and tons of snow) a completely rainy spring AND all of June it rained! So, we had a teeney bit of summer and a blink's worth of fall and now it's colder than . . . well, really cold and rainy! Sigh . . . next summer better be a doozy!

Okay, this Californian is going to stop complaining about the last few days of rain I've endured - especially as they came after basically 5 months of sunshine. But we also had an odd summer. Temps were either 10 degree below normal or over 100. There was not much in between. I've heard rumors that El Nino is back, so it'll be a rainy winter, but as we need it, I can't complain too much (well, or shouldn't )

I feel your pain. I'm in Calgary, Alberta Canada, north of the state of Montana. We had a dump of snow yesterday, but today is beautiful. So we may still get a few days of fall between snowfalls :p

ok then, i'll try to quit crying over the frigid 50's in SC...but SERIOUSLY! it's ridiculous!!!

frigid 50's. Good one. :D Oh I know it's all relative based on what your used to, but the 50's don't even justify a coat around here.... :p Of course we all know come next summer (if we get one next year), I'll be complaining about the mid to upper 90's and maybe one day of a 100 and you'll be telling me that's still pants weather. ;)

Another Michiganian here, and yes, I have had it with rain, rain, rain!!! Cannot do my favourite outdoor circuit workouts in this, and it's dark by 7.15pm and so bleedin' cold already I want to go into hibernation. Thank heavens for my gym where it's always so hooooooooooooooot I sweat buckets, now if only I could get my ass in gear and get over there!
