We're In This Together ~~MAY~~

Also, I contacted a friend whom is senior hr for a corporation in Dallas plus I contacted a tv news consumer advocate for help. My move is delayed until a solution happens. Everything else happened so easily.
Taking a break from it.

Jen - So many things to figure out, my mind would be spinning. Your right to take a break from it.

Colleen - I think you would like Vibrams. However, they aren't going to do anything to help with your knees. The last part of LI Challenge is the hardest out of all the sections.

Nat - I'm going stay away from the scale until June at least. I was wrong Step Blast isn't tell next week, so maybe I will have time to learn it.

My mom's surgery went great. Her menicus was very torn up. So he fixed that. She doesn't have any arthritis in her knees which was a concern. So really she couldn't have asked for a better scenario.

Today was LLB and again I have only done that one maybe twice. That last set of lunges were killer. Plus I threw in another round of Yoga Relax. It is helping with my back so much. Spending the extra time is hard and I'm getting behind on cleaning house. Then I went to Zumba tonight for some fun time. My tush is feeling sore so maybe I will have DOMS went I wake in the morning.

Sarah

Good morning :)

Yesterday's w/o was D7 (chest, bi's, shoulder's). 1 billion push-ups anyone??!! Not complaining though, it was a great disc. Everything seems to be flowing so much easier now. I was watching the STS CatheTV tutorials on youtube and it's VERY helpful. Cathe gives so many great tips on form.

Looks like the weather will be warm and sunny today. Another nice walk for Bella and I. Two days ago when we spent the afternoon at the park, I got burned! Bella always has on sunscreen and a hat, but I'm not so diligent with myself .

Tonight I'm either going to attempt Rhythmic Step again (YES I had to download it and it's super fun!!!) but if my brain is not up to concentrating, I will do Imax2.

Colleen
Regarding Low Impact Challenge, it's difficult but doable. Actually, some of Cathe's older complex step gives me a harder time when I compare . Keep in mind that I was still fairly new to step when I attempted it, so that's saying a lot. It took me about 4-5 tries to nail it, but I was very determined. One thing, Cathe does not really teach the moves, which I think most people complained about. She also does a lot of stuff on the outside of her step, where she turns her back to you. That always confuses me. I would suggest you learn it in sections, so do combo 1 first. Perhaps add it onto another cardio for the day (CSS premix maybe?). That way you can still learn it but are not wasting time looking at the screen all frustrated that you lost 45min of precious cardio time (lol that was me).
Regarding the shoes, Mark got a pair of orthopedic New Balance with custom insoles. The specialty shop he went to actually measured his foot, found him a perfectly fitted shoe, and showed him how to properly tie his laces. The shoes he got are light as a feather, and he wears a size 10. The "shoe professionals" as I call them, said most people don't wear the right size and each shoe should be tailored to the individual to avoid knee/back/ankle injuries.

Gotta run! I'll BBL!!! Have a rockin' day!!

Well, today I was going to do LBB in place of the STS Meso 2 disc. I love LBB so much and wanted a little cardio along with my legs. Well, then I just decided my body is feeling too beat up right now so I popped in one of my yoga discs! It felt great! I think the fact I've been skipping the cool down and stretch in most of my workouts these days is starting to catch up with me. I feel really stiff and my flexibility is terrible these days! I am planning a rest week next week alternating yoga with light cardio before I dive into Meso 1 alternated with circuits and I'm really looking forward to it!

Something dawned on me today about those step routines that have been beating up my knees. I think it's less the high impact (although that's a factor, I'm sure) and more the twisty/torquey moves. Ever since I ditched my shoes I've hardly had any issues with my knees or ankles and I've been doing high impact plyo type stuff at least twice a week. Shortly before that, I had given up on Cathe's step dvds as well (other than the basic stuff in LIS, Drill Max and her Hiit dvd). I remember now every time I did BM2, regardless of which pair of shoes I was wearing, my knees would hurt for a week afterwards. When I did BM2 earlier this month, it took almost 2 weeks for my knees to feel totally normal...then I did AS and they are talking to me again. The first time I did AS it wasn't too bad, although I didn't fall on my butt that time:eek:. When I did the Intensity dvd they were fine. Granted I did it on the 4 inch, but I think there are fewer torquey moves in that one. I think I may just shelve the step aerobics for awhile and revisit it in a few months on the 4 inch once I've found some shoes I like. I'm really liking the looks of the asics I saw on that site, but I want to try them first. Who knows, I may have to try several pairs! At least they accept returns! The big thing is they need to be feather light and flexible, which these minimalist shoes seem to be built for while giving some stability, arch support and cushioning.

Sorry for the long paragraph there...I'm just thinking/writing out loud:eek:.

Better get ready for work...BBL!

Yes, when I do some workouts, the bottom of my feet have a burning sensation or stinging from BMX2. When I am brave enough, I will give it a go and do barefoot. Knee problems can be caused by torque moves from Step Blast etc..

My news: My parents might be on a lease agreement with me for an apartment in Texas. I have peace no matter their decision. I would be the responsible party since I will be the primary resident.
My apartment finder is checking in on it.
Also, I weed wacked my hill. Will fertilizer later. Property manager wanted them pulled but used weed killer too.

Have a great day :)[/QUOTE]

Today was KPC. I quit after the 2nd punching combo. But I did do the crunch part. So overall thats prettyn good. I've actually never done all the punching combos.

It's those tourqy moves that caused a torn menicus in my mom. She is already feeling better than she has since she hurt it. She says the pain in the back of the knee is almost gone.

I keep going on Cathe today waiting for a video clip. I know it's a bit premature.

I really want to weigh in and am fighting it big time.

Sarah

KPC is a tough workout. You should be proud of yourself.
My workout was a 50 minute walk.
An old college roommate found me after many years. She told me she needs to lose weight and asked me how I deal with stress. I listed kickbox, step aerobics, etc. She is a diabetic and thyroid issues.
We are now friends on Facebook.

Have a great night.

Good evening ladies :)

30min of Rhythmic Step today. My brain can only handle so much. I might not post tomorrow, we are going to the Toronto Zoo!!! Pretty excited :). It's going to be a beautiful sunny warm day. Hopefully the cool animals (lions, tigers and bears, oh my) will make an appearance instead of hiding . This weekend is our Victoria Day long weekend (aka-May 2-4, as in a 24 case of beer lol).

I'm so excited for the new workouts!!! When I saw hiit and Tabata, I had a mini heart attack . Tabata is no joke. Talk about cardio brutality. Cathe says no dread factor, but I'll believe it when I see it. The whole gang looks amazing!! CEDIE IS BACK!! I won't be able to make it for Cathe's discussion tomorrow :(. If you guys ask questions, I hope Cathe responds :).

Have a good night everyone :)

Texas is now delayed for indefinite period of time. My parents are questioning the lease. Texas doesn't recognize unemployment benefits as income although it is taxed here so I would use my parents.
Bummed. Have a home here and can't find work. There, can find work but cannot get a place to live.

Good morning everyone :)

Yesterday's zoo outing went very well. It was a beautiful day and all the animals were out and about. Except for my fav, the cats, which were either sleeping or hiding . My cousin who came with us, said we should have thrown a small live animal in the cages just to shake things up a bit :D.
After 5 hours of walking, my feet were aching, so no workout for me yesterday.

Today's w/o is my last of W3 with D8 (back & tri's). Next week is my 5% increase . I'm a bit scared.

Jen
I'm sorry about the Texas/apartment/unemployment benefits situation :(.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend :)

Bye bye for now :)

Today I've got to take Lydia to dance and we get to put her in her outfit for the recital since they are doing pictures today. It's this purple, sparkly little number with the most frilly tutu you've ever seen! Hee!

Then when I get back I'm going to try and get my double workout in! LBB and disc 24 back and biceps! We'll see how it goes! I have a lot to do this weekend. The house is a mess and I need to get my vegetable garden in. Plus, Mark is inviting people over tonight and I'm watching my niece since my sister is in Cancun right now.

Natty- I love zoos! That sounds like such a fun family day! My feet get so swollen when I walk a lot like that! I swear, I've never owned a pair of shoes that allowed me to walk for miles without discomfort! Who knows, maybe these minimalist shoes I'm looking at will do something for me! We went to the Mall of America last year and that stupid mall has very few benches to sit down. My poor lower body was a wreck!

Jen- I'm so sorry about the Texas/unemployment thing. Maybe you can figure out a work around. Do you know anyone in another city/state with better employment opportunities that you could bunk with until you found a job and got on your feet?

Sarah- I LOVE KPC! I can't wait until Cathe puts out more kickboxing videos. I wasn't in love with the MMA kickboxing but I know a lot of people have requested she make another one similar to KPC (including me in the last question and answer thing she had!). She hinted she's planning on doing more like that in the future. I just love her cueing and rhythm in the kickboxing/boxing dvd's!

Gotta motor! Have a great Saturday ladies!!

Hello Friends.
Today is a former highschool mate's wedding so it will be a reunion of sorts at the post celebration party. Looking forward to getting out of the house.
My workouts this week have been walking, I prefer no air this early in the summer.

About Texas, I may be down but not out. It is not done yet. I think my parents will come around or there will be a good alternative. DFW, Houston, Austin and Salt Lake are the fastest growing cities which would all require about the same thing. Michigan unemployed does have a stigma attached to it as well. Still hoping to get a job here as well.

Natty-Love that zoo, I was there when it first opened. Yes, I remember the walking part too. Hope you enjoy disc 8.

Colleen-niece and daughter, sounds like fun. Hope you get your workouts in.

Yesterday was a busy day just getting everything done before the weekend. I did however squeeze in cyclemax : )

Nat - I'm glad you had a great day at the zoo with your hubby and daughter. Pretty sure walking that much totally counts as a workout : )
Don't be afraid of the 5% increase just tell yourself to go all out cause next week is rest week : )

Colleen - Your weekend sounds busier than your week. Thats funny your hubby invited people over. Does he entertain, or will you have to do the work. My husband would never invite anyone over, hes too selfish with his time off.

Jen - For me walking calms my mind. So its therapy and exercise all wrapped up.

Today my daughter woke me up at 2 vomitting. High Reps is on tap for today. I feel tired and my body aches from trying to get a few few winks in on the sofa in between the heaving.

Sarah

Sarah, yes, I agree with your comments about walking.

Keeping an open mind to consider alternatives to solve my Texas housing issue. I contacted a company that handles fourplexes and a huge church. My grandfather was a Pastor for the denomination so I might get help.
Hope to get more ideas.

Those are great thoughts that are totally worth checking into Jen. Way to think outside of the box.

How was the reunion/wedding? Good food? ; )

Today I managed to eek out High Reps but I was not it it 100%. Feeling tired and crabby, maybe PMS?

My son just asked me if typing takes practice, like shuffling? I couldn't figure out what the heck he was talking about. He said like cards, DUH MOM. LOL

Sarah

Happy Sunday :)

I'm off to visit the in-laws in Hamilton shortly. Ugghh I hate the 1.5hr drive, especially with a restless kid who hates the car seat. We want to take her to Niagara Falls this year, which is close to Hamilton. I'm kinda looking forward to it, but dreading it at the same time.

Jen
How was your reunion?
You have stayed very positive and strong throughout this whole Texas housing situation. I truly believe it's all gonna turn out great for you. Positive vibes from me to you :).
Sarah
I always blame my tiredness and crabbiness on PMS. I hope you are feeling better today.
Your son sounds so cute :)
Colleen
How was Lydia's dance recital? She must have looked super duper cute!
I hope your weekend is going well, not too stressful.
It's pretty awesome you have a veggie garden. I heard gardening is very therapeutic. I just can't get around those worms [insert yuck face here].

Gotta get a move on! Have a great day everyone :)

With the information I sent to my parents, I think they are coming around a bit plus I am delaying the move a bit so my Mom can come down. They are moving this weekend so they must be out of their condo. Not a good time to ask for a co-sign.
Going up to about 90f here so no workouts. Recovering from a wedding reception last night.

Natty-have a good trip to Hamilton. I have friends there from college. 1.5 hours can be a long drive with a restless kid. Love Niagara Falls.

Sarah-Understand about PMS too well.

Colleen-how did the recital go? And, your DH inviting ppl over?

Happy Sunday everybody!

Lydia had her dance pictures yesterday. Her recital isn't until June 3rd but they had to do the group and individual pictures of the girls. Oh man, that girl is a nightmare with her hair! They wanted it up in a bun with this flower clip thing on the right side that came with her outfit. I am awful with hair styling! She also has the most tender scalp of anyone I've ever met! She's always crying and screaming that I'm hurting her when I brush her hair! Sooo, needless to say her hair didn't get put up in a bun yesterday morning. I get there and all the other little girls had their hair in cute little buns. Her dance teacher tried to do it and sort of got it up there. As she was working on Lydia, she tried so hard not to show that the teacher was hurting her...then she finally burst out in tears! The teacher was shocked! I was like, okay, believe me now??? For the recital, I'm taking her to a salon to have them work on it!

Yesterday, I managed to get Lower Body Blast in but not my STS disc. So, I'm going to try and do that one today along with my yoga. LBB makes me so happy! I love everything about that workout, the moves, the music, the cardio bursts and Cathe is so cute and fun in that one!:D

We had a friend of Dylan's over along with my niece in the afternoon, then we had friends over and grilled and had a fire. It was fun! Unfortunately, at one point this obnoxious guy that my husband works with (and who lives just down the street) stumbled over towards the end of the night. This guy is so creepy and the worst drunk and he'll just show up at our house uninvited all the time:(. Plus, he has hit on my me a couple of times and he's married with kids. UGH! I tried to stay in the house after that because I just didn't want to deal with him. Mark hates to ask him to leave because he works with him and doesn't want to create tension, plus he's such a bad drunk he'd probably start a fight. We need to put up humoungous security fences to keep this dude out, I swear!

Better get going here. Later girls!

Things are progressing slowly towards Texas. My Mom told me that she thinks they will cosign for me.
Hope to do disc 7 today with a walk.
