We're In This Together ~~MAY~~

Hello Friends. : )
Today, I purchased to get a new storm door, took some donated stuff out, got an estimate on a moving van, and searched condo/apt rentals in the north Dallas area. To my surprise, I have a real-estate agent contacted me and she sent me some good stuff.
The majority of my furniture will be given away before the move so I am using a 10" van for my IKEA, computer desk, workout equipment, bikes, kitchen and clothes plus a tow to pull my car. Two years ago must've been a dress rehearsal cause I did get rid of stuff back then. Plan to purchase new IKEA when my cash flow is positive down there. Post-Memorial Day weekend is about 2.5 weeks but if I wait too long, I will fear myself out of it.
My friend hasn't responded. He wasn't expecting this, I know for sure. But, he knows I've been down and depressed with the job thing. Plus, no person from the group. I respect them for hanging on but many of them had high level professional careers unlike me. I did ask one friend to drive down with me and she said yes but I did ask for my brother and son plus left a message with another, whom I suggested she sit down before I start talking.
Plan to job hunt for DFW and clean on Saturday. Very warm here so I might go for a walk.
No word yet on the MS fugitive so they must be closing in on him and can't afford media coverage. My life will be very busy, hope to stick with STS for some normalcy. Plan to clean my house and will have carpets cleaned before I leave.

Hope everyone is having a great day. There's lots of crud going on here due to the odd weather.

Thanks.

JT

Whoa, quiet on the thread here today!

I hope everyone is doing okay. How are you feeling Natty? I hope the fever didn't take you out:(.
Jen, I suppose you're super busy with all the DFW stuff and getting ready to move.
How's the trench digging going Sarah?

Ellie, Natalie- hope to hear from you girls soon!

Nothing much to report today since it was a rest day for me. :) Tomorrow I hope to get my STS disc in (Meso 2 week 4, I think disc 21?). Plus I'm hoping to tackle Athletic Step again. It may be wishful thinking since it's Mother's day and all. My sister's and I might be taking my mom out to lunch but that's always a little dicey counting on a plan with my mom. She'll often suddenly back out if she's not feeling good or something. I told Mark all I wanted was breakfast in bed (we do that for each other on Mother's and Father's days). The kids made me the cutest little gifts as projects from school. Dylan's was a frame all decorated up. I already printed off a picture for it and have it hanging in my office at work.:D

Also, we are planning a trip to Disney in Orlando this summer! My sister, who's a travel agent, is coming over tonight to finalize the details and have us pay for the flights and everything. We'll be going the week of Fourth of July. Can't wait!

Have a great night ladies!

Happy Mother's Day :)

Hi everyone! It's been a rough 2 days for me with fevers, no sleep, sore throat and now this persistent cough at night . With a 3 year old, resting in the day is virtually impossible. No option but to suck it up and move on. Although my night was bad, I don't have a fever this morning, which really brings me down. I'm going to attempt STS D5, my last disc of W2. Next week should go according to schedule and I'm planning on some high intensity cardio again. I can't believe 2 weeks has gone by so fast! I've enjoyed STS immensely so far. I'm glad I had all of you to "talk", or shall I say "force" me into it ;).
Today Mark and I are going out for Mother's Day to a Thai Restaurant. No Izabella :D. I can sit down and eat a warm meal in peace. Oh the luxury :).

Sarah
I'm so sorry to hear about your dog bite! Are you ok? Did you go to the doctor? Omg, that thread started a chain reaction!
Wow, I'm amazed at how extremely active you've been lately. Spring/summer always insures you can easily drop a few lbs. Being outdoors makes me happy too.
Colleen
Breakfast in bed sounds sooo nice. The kids gifts must have made you feel so warm and fuzzy inside. I can't wait to get those too :).
Keep tackling Athletic Step. You'll love it once you get the choreo down. I was contemplating getting Rhythmic Step, but I backed out once I saw clips. It just looks TOO complicated!!
Jen
It takes a lot of courage to get out of your comfort zone and find a job out of your State and move. I think Cathe workouts bring out the best in us; strength, confidence & bravery, in our everyday lives. My positive thoughts and prayers are with you.

Gotta get a move on!! Have a great day everyone :)

Hello ladies! I left you in April and it's May already! Just to briefly update you, DH is healing quickly, tomorrow he will go back at work, and little Riccardo, who turned 2 this past week, is fine... so far!
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND THOUGHTS throughout the past days, I really appreciated that so much and don't know how to thank you fot that!
Unfotunately I will be away from this board for a little while as,due to my new job, I'm travelling a lot and far from home, so have been driving for hours all past week and had a hard time to find the strenght and the will of doing my workouts. Ended up with 4days of Cathe out of 6, which is a goal I will try to keep for all May and June, the busiest months for me.

Nat: I wish you to recover as soon as possible, I hate being ill and I hate when something slows down my workout schedule, but take it easy and listen to your body. Btw, I have Rs and love it, not as tricky as it seems, but so much fun!

Sarah: oh my! A dog bite! I hope you're fine! Readig about all your calories burnt makes me feel so sloppy and lazy... I'll go get my trainers and do something good as well! You're so inspiring to me!

Colleen : Disneyland! This is one of my dreams! I hope to go there one day with my little one! And what to say about your gifts? It must be so beautiful, I was moved to tears... and can't wait to receive one by Ricky too...one day! AS, I love it,don't give up!

Jen : good luck with your moving and new life! I salute you for your courage and great spirit, way to go! I hope you will settle down soon and enjoy your new house!

Well...enough talk...a great hug to you all my ladies and hope to talk to you again soon !

Happy Mother's Day!!

Sarah-Horrible, dog bites are bad. Hiope you feel better soon.
Natty-how are you feeling? Don't push yourself too soon.
Colleen-did you enjoy breakfast in bed? Disney? Fun trip. You can do AS!!
Ellie-Be safe driving for work. Traffic can get crazy.

Update: Lists are going on what to do. Little things with the house that should be done but might try to pass to get it rented or done before I go. New storm door going in this week, estimate on a water heater, new window screen, plus cleaning my bathroom now. My area is now not Carrollton, Flower Mount but more towards Arlington, Irving and Ft. Worth where rentals are more reasonable. I was recommended to keep my MI residence while collecting benes in TX, which makes sense. One day at a time. In my heart, it is right. Considering having a moving company take my 3 chairs, one side table, computer desk and chair, storage units plus bikes, workout equipment and misc instead of towing so I can drive my cats down in my car. Asked 4 people about driving straight thru with me so to get into the DFW metroplex early in the morning to avoid heat. Hoping to be out in 3 weeks, could be 4. Much depends on securing a rental and moving van.
My thoughts are rambling on this. I was up most of the night with stuff I need to do going thru my head. My parents are moving too so they are overwhelmed as well.

Hi everyone :)

I forgot to mention, Colleen, Disney World!!! I'm so HAPPY for you!!! That's one of my dreams too. You and your family are gonna have a blasty blast!!! The kids are at great ages too where they can really enjoy and appreciate it.

Hope everyone had a great day. Be back tomorrow to write responses.

Good night all :)

Hi Friends!
Taking one day at a time getting stuff done and creating lists. Gave away a pink wool wrap made by Jacobson's and a long dress wool coat from Chadwick's my ex bought me to my senior neighbor Ellie.
She was thankful and happy.
My house should be listed this week and an application into a condo complex pending reviews.
Tomorrow I will be with my Mom. Lots to chat about.
Jen

Happy Mother's Day ladies!
Today I got breakfast in bed! Mark and I always do that for each other for Mother and Father's day. Dylan wrote another card for me that Mark helped to dictate. It went "we love mom because..." and then you open the card and it was all "because she takes care of us and washes our dirty clothes and cleans our house"...and it goes on like that and then at the very end it says "and Dad says she's a hottie!". lol It was so funny to see the words written in Dylan's handwriting!

I went to visit my 94 year old grandma with my mom and dad and sisters today too. She's in a nursing home and just hates it so much. I feel so bad for her. She's hanging in there pretty good, though. She's pretty with it for the most part and loved having company. Then I took my mom and dad out for dinner and just got home. Tomorrow I won't get to post at all since I have to leave at 5:30 am for the Twin Cities and my day long CE. Ugh. It's going to be such a long day!

Today I did Athletic Step! I almost have most of the choreography. I did slip and fall at one point, though. I was okay but I twisted my foot a bit. It feels fine now but I was bummed out. I stopped for several minutes to ice my foot just in case and my heart rate came down. I finished the workout but was disappointed. It almost made me want to do it again just so I could do it all the way through without messing up! I think I need to concentrate on one step workout at a time and get it down before trying one of the other ones I've acquired. Athletic Step has thrown down the gauntlet and I intend to beat that sucker!

Disney is a go now! We've got the flights and we're renting a house through vrbo.com that is super cheap...and it has a pool! It's only 15 minutes from Disney! Whoo hoo!:D

Have a great night ladies!

Good morning all :)

I hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday. Mark and I intended to go to a Thai Restaurant, but it was closed :(. We ended up going to a place called Moxies. Yum, yum, yum. We got a starter of avocado spring rolls to share and then my main course was fish tacos w/sweet potato fries. Very delish. No dessert, just a warm cappuccino.

I felt better yesterday (no fever) and so I went ahead with my last disc of W2, D5 (back & tri's). I started out slowly to see if I was ok and would have the energy and endurance to complete the workout. I'm excited to say that I totally knocked out all the tricep push-ups on MY TOES!!! 16 TRICEP push-ups!! Those used to be the hardest for me and I felt so damn good (and surprised!) that I had the strength to do them. So that was my STS milestone .

Ellie
I am so happy to hear that your DH has recovered well. Happy birthday to Riccardo!! The years do go by so fast :(.
4 days of working out to Cathe is probably like 7 days for an average person who goes to the gym :D. She works you so hard and thorough.
I wish you a safe and healthy time while you are traveling. Hope to see you back soon. (((hugs)))
Jen
Moving is probably one of the most stressful things EVER. My last move of selling my first home to move back into an apartment was hard. Everything was happening so fast and there seemed to be an endless list of things needed to get done. The hardest part, in my opinion, is not the physical aspect of it, but the emotional attachment to the home. I've always closed my doors with tears. Don't worry, you'll make it through with flying colors. Just take it one day at a time. Everything will slowly but surely fall into place.
Enjoy the day w/your mom :)
Colleen
Your day yesterday sounded beautiful. The note your son made put a smile on my face. Indeed, you are a hottie ;)
I'm sorry to hear about your foot :(. I've fallen plenty of times and got bummed out too. You just sit there going "what the heck just happened??". Don't get discouraged. You will master that sucker! I hope your foot is feeling better today.

Another beauty here today. Plan on walking, going to the park and then cardio later on. Have a great day!

Boy, it was a busy weekend. It feels so great just to sit here on the sofa, all by myself, and read all your posts.

I hope all of you had a great Mother's Day. Even you Jen, because being a mom to 2 kitties, cleaning litter boxes, and hair balls they barf up is being a mom too.

Nat - Glad your feeling better. Good job on completing week 2. It does seem like it's going by fast in Meso 1, as I remember.
You mother's day dinner sounded delicious too. I have only had fish tacos once but they were awesome.

Colleen - It's so funny when kids pick up on things like "dad thinks mommy is a hottie". I think it's great the kids know just how attracted we are for each other, STILL. So jealous of Disney, my kids don't have any desire to go : (
They rather go to Boston, or New York for the history. I love rides, but overall I really don't care as long as I can have awesome food.

Ellie - I'm so glad things are calming down for you at home. Cathe 4 days a week is great with the schedule you keep. Are you enjoying you new position at work?

Jen - I feel for you, so much to do, so much to think about. It is times like this that I have a hard time sleeping because when I lay down to go to sleep my mind starts making lists of all the things I need/want to get done. I think your right about taking the cats in the car with you being alot less stressful. Are you getting enough rest?

Sarturday I ran the 5K with my husband, and daughters. They both did really well they ran the whole thing, and 1 kept a pretty blistering pace. Afterwards I took my daughters to a craft show, and went shopping for shorts for them. We had a great time.

My husband last year made a very good dinner for me, this year he wanted to make brunch and dinner for me. He picked out things I would never make because no one in the family would like it other than myself. For brunch it was a Pancetta and Asparagus Eggs Benedict on a Quinoa Cake with Hollandaise sauce. He made the Hollandaise sauce 2 times and it curdled both times. He was so dissappointed. It was still delicious. Then for dinner -lamb chops, purple cauliflower mash, and a Lover's Lane fruit salad (passion fruit, mango, and papaya. His cauliflower mash didn't turn out either. He got bummed out again. Their was more than enough food regardless. I loved that he went to all that work for me.

It was in the 80's all weekend. Amazing weather, great weekend.

I start my new rotation (dec 2010) today. But my back hurts and am feeling very tired. We will see.

Sarah

Good morning :)

Yesterday I got to enjoy the beautiful warm weather outside. Summer is just around the corner......I can't wait .

My workout was 20min Rhythmic Step + 40/20. Dear heaven what was I thinking? I honestly CANNOT add anything prior to/after that brutal workout. It takes every single ounce of my energy to finish that very last box jump on my 12inch step. I seriously have to go to my "happy place" during that one.

Today's w/o is W3, D9 (legs).

Sarah
Your Mother's Day sounded beautiful.
It was so kind and thoughtful of your hubby to do all that cooking for you (even if some stuff didn't turn out).
Great job on the 5K. I've never participated in one, but I should try, especially to raise money for charities. I'm not sure if I could run it, but walking is an option.
I hope your back is feeling better. You MUST be tired! Last week was very physically demanding for you. When your back is ok and you start the rotation, I think you're gonna really enjoy it. You work legs 3X with STS TB, HR and LBB. A great mix of cardio/strength training. I see DOMS in your future :D.

Have a rockin' day ladies!

Hello ladies!

Today I did disc 22 chest, shoulders and triceps. I wasn't feeling strong at all and wasn't able to put my all into it for some reason. The weather is nice and sunny so I can't blame that. Tomorrow is another day though!

Yesterday was such a long day! Man, it's just awful going to those things and sitting for hours on end. Plus, I feel all yucky and bloated from the crappy food. Ugh. I was also having a hard time staying awake during the sessions. I went with two other O.D.'s from my company and at one point the 3 or us were sitting there and 2 of us were asleep! Admittedly, one of them was me! The doc sitting between us was like, seriously guys? Wake up! lol Usually that particular CE meeting is pretty good but I seem to be having bad luck with CE this year:rolleyes:.

Also and unfortunately, all day yesterday my knees and ankles were bothering me from Athletic Step. I don't know. I really love the workout and am finally catching onto the choreography. I don't know if I just need to find different shoes for the high impact step aerobics or what. The ones I have (and I have 3 different pairs) all suck and I hate them...hence the barefoot workouts. I tried to put a pair on again during the workout and I honestly feel like I could hurt myself more with them then without. Maybe I need to find a more minimalist pair. I do feel like I could use more ankle support during high impact step. My arches and the balls of my feet are just fine though. Maybe high impact step aerobics just isn't such a good idea for me.:( I think I'm going to try that one again on the 4 inch, though and maybe look for some minimalist type shoes.

Oh, and about that hilarious Mother's day card. I'm pretty sure Mark dictated the card to Dylan. I noticed that the words were suspiciously spelled correctly! lol I think he was trying to get brownie points! :D

Ellie- so great to hear from you again! I know you're so crazy busy! Absolutely do not worry about working out 4 times a week. You don't want to try and overdo it while your so busy and stress out your body. Mental and physical stress can be more harmful than anything so just do what you can and make sure you are still feeling good and energetic. Sometimes you just have to balance everything out! Like the other girls said, Cathe workouts will keep you in phenomenal shape at 4x/week. She is a magician that way!;)

Natty- I'm so glad your feeling better! I can't believe you did all those triceps push ups on your toes!! I was in awe when I read that! I thought of you today while I was doing those and they were most definitely on my knees!

Jen- I hope the moving stuff is going smoothly! I hate moving! In college I moved ALOT and it was always totally stressful every time. Now that I've had my house for 9 years I can't imagine all the crap I've accumulated and how awful it would be to move! Good luck with it all!!!

Sarah- that was so sweet of your husband to cook you that special dinner! It's the effort that counts!;) Good for you on running the 5K! You definitely deserve a rest day after all that you've done lately (or two!).

Have a great day ladies!

Hello Friends.
Busy day talking to property managers and others. Moving will be expensive and I haven't dealt with complex applications yet.
Hope to disc 7 and maybe walk tonight.
Might change my DROID number to a Dallas one.

Jennifer

Jen - I think walks go perfect with STS days. Come to think of it walks are perfect for when you don't want to go all out, and also for when I'm sore. Moving is expensive, everything is expensive, except for walks ; )

Colleen- I am the same about falling asleep. I used to sleep all the time in school. My husband teaches 2 classes a week and during the break he usually plays music so people get their blood flowing. I'm sorry about your knees. I have been wearing my Vibrams but the jury is still out. My husband has had 2 pairs now and we still haven't found the right size.

Nat- I too try to add to 40/20, and it just doesn't work, except once again with a walk. I did go ahead with STS total body, and it wans't as long as I remembered. Which was a good thing.

I did Intensity today, and had fun. I have only done that maybe 2 times. The choreography was more simple than I remembered. Thursday is suppose to be Stepblast, but I'm thinking of bailing : ( The choreography is so complicated. I've been learning so much lately, I think I'll go for another steady state DVD or maybe a jog.

I'm on my last 10ft of trench. My mom is having knee surgery tomorrow for a torn meniscus.

I forgot to mention, after doing STS total body yesterday, I went ahead and did the yoga relax after another Cathlete had said it did wonders for back pain but it was to long to add to another workout. I felt so much better after doing it. So I did a premix today after Intensity also.

Sarah

Quick update.
Movers-booked
Storm door-install Wednesday
New water heater- paid and install date not set.
Property managers- agreement not signed but meeting done. Plan to sign this week.
Now, I need to find an apartment, book a flight and rent a car.
My car is being shipped separately.
As soon as I have an address, I can update my resume and use my DROID as my primary contact.
Tired tonight.

Ok. Apartments in Ft Worth have been contacted, one of them hopefully will take me. I contacted 5 or 6. Otherwise, it's back to South Arlington.

It has been a HUGE blessing that everything is falling into place. I feel GOD has opened the door for me so I can get to the other side in a pronto kind of manner.
Feel relieved about not driving and will have a rental for at least one week maybe one with GPS. My cats and I are flying to big DFW. I will contact the vet and have to make my reservations directly with the airline. Can we say sedative.

The deal is when I get into my place, I think we all should have a drink together virtually.
Totally at peace about it all. Thank GOD.

Good morning :)

Yesterday's w/o was D9 (legs). It's amazing how the hour goes by so fast. The bonus section at the end where Cathe incorporates the leg lifts and disc work really pushes me over the top. My butt is DOMS'ing today :D.
I was noticing that although it's TTOTM, my stomach is not bloated. It actually looks flatter than usual. I'm not sure if STS helps with abs, but it surely looks that way. I don't do traditional ab workouts as I tend to focus more on diet for that (unless I'm throwing in Ultimate Ball, 6 week/6 pack or yoga). I'm not sure if I've lost weight as I refuse to weigh myself since I read STS can temporarily cause weight gain. I don't want to be discouraged by a number. I am definitely noticing more UB definition and my legs and butt seem to be getting firmer. Maybe I'm delusional, all this in a mere 2 weeks? Is STS really that powerful?
Colleen
You sleeping during the meeting was hilarious! All those stupid meetings can be a yawn fest that's for sure. Doesn't it kinda remind you of high school? lol.
I'm sorry to hear about your knee's and ankles :(. I wish I could offer you some advice, but you seem to know more about knee problems than I do. I can tell you from experience that when I first started doing high impact step, my knee's would get irritated by certain moves. I'm not sure if it was a combo of me doing them incorrectly or with too much force, inappropriate shoes, or not having shock absorption on my floors. The shoes I just bought recently have been very kind to my knee's and ankles. I would try not to get discouraged yet. Next time do the routine on a 4inch and see how that feels. Or eliminate some of the jumping moves and just lift off your toes (Cathe does this in Low Impact Challenge).
Sarah
Glad to see some yoga is helping your back. I hope you feel better today.
I love Intensity :). That one is my go-to when I want a good butt kicking . I am a huge fan of the hi/low hiit in it.
Step Blast is tricky but SO MUCH FUN! Love it when Paint It Black comes on at the end!
I hope your mom's surgery goes well.
Jen
I'm so happy that everything is falling into place. Your positive attitude is wonderful. Stay strong, you are doing a great job :)

Have a good day everyone :)

Hello Friends.
Natty-You are WAY better than me for doing the bonuses. I have not done any. Don't remember if I did them with cycle one last time or not, by 3, I did them all.
Colleen-My knees bother me too when I push too hard or do too much high intensity/high impact continually. Although, listening to your body and adjusting will prevent injury. Too many meetings can cause sleepiness.
Sarah-Hope your Mom's surgery goes well. There is some dude on TV that lost over 100 pounds with just yoga.

Today, I contacted apartments by phone and by email. Hope to hear from some today. My door is getting installed now and my water heater on Friday. Kinda cold here today, heats been on. This weekend, I'm taking a break from moving stuff. Fortunately, I have gotten alot accomplished already. Its only 1030AM but been doing alot that it feels like its later.....

Peace out and have a great day.

Afternoon ladies!

Today was Cardio Supersets the longer premix with the bonus step. I could just kiss Cathe for making LIS! My knees and ankles feel better today. I can't wait for the new ones! She said in the question and answer session she did she is also going to have low impact only premixes on the discs. Perfect for me on those days when I've pushed my joints too far!;)

I don't want to give up on Athletic Step because I really like that workout a lot. Now that I'm catching on to most of the moves it's so much fun! I think the next time I do it though I'm going to do it on the 4 inch platform. Makes me feel so old to say that:(. I also am looking at various minimalist shoes online. Carolyn (grateful dog) suggested Roadrunnersports.com so I've been looking on there. They let you try the shoes for up to 90 days and if you don't like them you can return them! I like the looks of the New Balance Minimus and there is one called Asics Gel DS Trainer 17 which is sort of an in between model that fits like a minimalist shoe and is really light but gives a little more support. I'm wondering if those would work for high impact step aerobics. The 3 pairs of shoes I have in my closet are so heavy and clunky plus they make my knees and ankles go out of their natural alignment. I hate to spend another $100 on shoes but I really hate to give up on the step routines!

Natty- you mentioned Low Impact Challenge...what do you guys think of that one? I seem to be able to do low impact step just fine barefoot. That was another one I traded away foolishly when I got LIS:rolleyes:. I figured I wouldn't be doing any Cathe step so I traded it right away when I got the set. Stupid, stupid! I've heard the last combo is tricky but does she have a premix that eliminates that one maybe? I love hearing your results from STS already! So exciting! It's definitely true that you can weigh more with muscle while still fitting into smaller clothes than before. Don't let the scale lie to you! Muscle is gold, baby!

Jen- I'm so happy things are falling into place for you! It's so wonderful to hear you feeling at peace about the move. Moving is so stressful, it's a blessing it's going as well as it is for you! I chuckled when you said your cats would need sedative. I took my cat into the vet last week and he totally freaked out! He was yowling and hyperventilating! I've never seen a cat hyperventilate before, it was freaky! He didn't scratch or threaten to scratch anybody, he was just really upset. Poor thing! I actually have to take him in tomorrow for the neuter and declaw. I feel so bad about the declaw but he is just ruining our furniture and carpet. The vet said they do it with lasers now and it's virtually pain free for the cats, so that's good. In fact, they said it works a little too well since the cats will often not realize they need to be careful with their paws until it heals, will jump down off a high surface and cause the little glue dot in there to come out and bleed. Should be interesting!

Sarah- how did your mom's knee surgery go? Or did she have it yet...? I pray I never have to do that. Why oh why can't we have bionic knees that will take anything?? I love the Intensity dvd, too. That's another one I'll be doing on the 4 inch from now on!

Have a great day ladies!

Life changes in a minute. My unemployment is not considered income there although it is here. A apartment finder is making calls for me referred by a complex. She said I may have do prelims to get something.
Getting away from this for now. I had problems with my house and my divorce so I rarely have things happen normal or protocol.
