We're In This Together ~~MAY~~

Hello Friends.
Sarah-love that kind of bread. I only get it at panera though and I got rid of my breadmaker awhile back. Damaging your house. wild. For 4DS, I only do Cardio Hour and Cardio Power, hour long combos of high/low step and bootcamp/kickbox.
Love Oreos. That is a good breakfast to me. I have done it before even though I wasn't pregnant. Likely, post divorce period.
Colleen-Love LIC, Hope your knee feels better. Step Blast/SJ&P was my first Cathe DVD. My knees bother me from overuse of high impact.
Natty-Yes, my hunger has gone up tremendously since I've started STS. It's crazy and scary at the same time. How was disc 2 for you?

This morning, I was up late chatting with my "friend." The relationship is what it is. No complaints. I think there is a purpose of being in each other's lives though even though we may never date. DFW will decide if I will be going down. There is a person here whom I'm supposed to send my resume after I post for a position for her company in the Dallas area offices. Testing on Monday for one position but being considered for 3 in KZ, the area where my friend lives. Been there a lot lately. A guy, whom I had a rendevoux in college with, posted on my FB page this morning. I have a thing for reds, strawberry blondes, auburn hair guys.

Hello ladies :)

Yesterday was D2 (back & tri's) as planned. I love working back, especially doing pull-ups/chin-ups, you can really feel the muscles working. My fav is the 1 arm dumbbell rows; my weight is 20lbs!! That might not be impressive, but for this small chick, I'm pretty satisfied :D. However, I have a very difficult time with tri's. It's so hard to keep proper form with a heavier weight. If I use a lighter weight, I don't feel challenged, especially with the lest few reps, where I know there should be some "stinging" as Cathe says :D. I have this feeling I have to go up in small increments, for instance 5 lbs is too light and 8lbs is too heavy. Regardless, I have some nice DOMS today and NO LOWER BACK PAIN!!! YAY!!! I was a bit scared doing the dead lifts.

Today's w/o is BM2 w/weighted leg work (no UB weights). It's not on my rotation but c'mon, you can't expect me to do that workout just once and then forget about it!

Wal-Mart grocery shopping today (their fresh produce is amazing!) and then BBQ later. We have several Farmer's Markets that will open up shortly and I can't wait to take Bella there again. She picks the fruits and veggies, it's so cute!

Sarah
I'm sorry to hear about the mixer denting the floor and fridge. Those things are tanks! Is the mixer ok? I'd be more concerned about that lol ;). How did the bread turn out? I'm not going to say how much I love bread. It goes without saying :p.
Colleen
Thank you for making me feel better. I think the guilt will always be inside me unfortunately.
So what have you done with your tower so far? You mentioned awhile back that perhaps you might have liked M3 if you had one. Are you considering doing M3 in the future? There is a kick-butt rotation w/M3 and Gym Styles!
Jen
How are you liking STS so far? I know you've done it before, but it has been a long time. Are you feeling DOMS? Are you writing down your #'s?
Funny you mentioned red-heads, my ex from Ireland was one . We went out in high school, he was my first true love . We still talk to each other, 15 years later, and I still care for him deeply. It's so cool he posted on your FB page. You guys should go for drinks ;).
You mention KZ, were is that?

Gotta run gals! TTYL!

Hi Natty.
Feeling DOMS but never have written my numbers down.
My college guy may still be married and he lives in NC.
My friend is also a red and not thrilled will the DFW thing.
Hope to do cardio tonight. Maybe
Jen

Today was Muscle Max, I made it! Tomorrow rest day. I need one so bad.

Bread was delicious. I also made homemade brownies that were really good. I had just a little, and feel so in control. Which is great.

Today working on the treehouse again, tomorrow will be beautiful so I will break out my new toys (weed wacker, and chainsaw)

Jen- I sorry the interview didn't go well. But glad that you already have another lined up. Good for you.

Sarah

Saturday is cold and rainy here in MI so I ordered out for Lasagna. It was GOOD. Rest day for me too.
Every interview, they will cut me apart so they will have reaon(s) not to hire me. They didn't have much. But, it was an odd one. Not holding out hope. I could help them out tremendously though in the future and they know it.
Sarah-your brownies sound good. MM, love it!!
Natty-do you own Muscle Max??

Hi Catheites.
Combo of laziness and productivity today. Plan to do Low Max soon
Contacted Lose It! App about hunger pains and working out.
Haven't heard from my friend since Friday. His daughter had prom on Saturday. Hope to learn what is going on.
Mutual growing feelings.
Prep for Monday test and apply for a TX job.
Jen

Happy Sunday fit ladies :)

Ahhh what a beautiful day here. Another nice 2 hour walk around the neighborhood and to the park. I'm pretty excited, they are making a splashpad at the park right near my house! Bella is gonna have a blast!
Yesterday's workout was BM2 with LB weight work (60min). I was clearly not a champ the second time around. I ended up dropping down to 6inch as soon as the LB weight circuit started. My cardio is not great at 6pm, I get fatigued fast. That workout is not for the faint of heart .
On the upside, my upper back and tri's have been in super DOMS mode for 2 days :D. Yay STS! I'm only one week in and I already love the program. I was really hesitant to invest at first thinking that was SO much money for a strength training program. I'm convinced now, it was worth it and some. I'm curious as to how much leaner and toned I'll be in 90 days.
Today's w/o is a quick 30min of 4DS high impact step (Sarah, I'll be thinking of you ;)).
Jen
With regards to your hunger pains, how often do you eat? I HAVE to eat 5 small meals throughout the day, and I absolutely CANNOT skip meals/snack or else I turn into an angry ravenous food monster. Have you tried to adapt to this? I swear it keeps the hunger at bay.
Take out lasagna can be pretty tasty. I am a harsh critic with Italian food though......I know what authentic Italian food is supposed to taste like. I get mad if the sauce tastes like Ragu .
I'm sorry about those interviews. It's really not what you know, but who you know sometimes, and that really REALLY stinks!!! You hang in there. The right job will come along. I know it's so easy to get discouraged, but please don't.

Sarah, Colleen, Ellie and Natalie
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend :)

Bye bye for now ;)

Hi Natty
Today, I adjusted my caloric intake to workout so I'm eating more.
Hoping for a good job week.
DFW has given me new hope
Thanks for your support

Jen

Hello Ladies! :D

Today was Paul Katami's Burn and Build. Wowza, that's a tough one! Definitely not for the faint of heart, either! I actually think that's the toughest workout I own as far as testing my actual fitness level. The choreography is basic but it really tests my endurance and burns some mega calories!

One thing about BM2, have you noticed how great the music is in that one? "Jesse's girl", YES! I love that song and when it comes on in the workout it makes me so happy! It's funny because I normally don't care at all about the music in the workouts I do. People on VF talk all the time about music in various workouts and how it'll be a deal breaker for them even if the workout is good. Normally, for me, it just fades into the background and I don't notice it because I'm working so dang hard!

Yipee for STS DOMS! I definitely would buy an STS 2 if Cathe ever made it! I love it!

Jen- did you wind up doing Low Max? My niece had prom this weekend, too. She was SO incredibly beautiful! It is rough seeing these kids grow up...it was not that long ago she was just a goofy, awkward little girl! Makes me sad! Might be tough to move to DFW if feelings are growing with you and your friend. What is meant to be will happen though!

Sarah- how's the treehouse and path/trails going? I used to have Muscle Max but I traded it away...another dumb one. I swear I will hang on to all my Cathe workouts from now on! I did it once and remember not liking the work with the barbell using the resistance bands. I'm not really a fan of doing that with dumbells either...I like either the iron or the band separately. It feel too awkward to try and use them together I think.

Ok, good night girls!

Good Morning Friends.
No test today, my bad, it is Wednesday instead.
Yes, I did Low Max last night after disc 3 on Friday so I have some DOMS today. Week 2, Disc 4 later on.

My only Dallas decision. Not to move down there until I get a job offer. My cats and I love our house so moving into a rental if this one is empty, doesnt makes sense. My house will be rented out too. Plus, saving myself grief of having my cats made at me for a week after a 16 hour drive straight thru. No job/no move. It would be hard as far as my friend goes, we have gotten closer but if it was meant to happen, it will. Lots of Faith right now.

Colleen-BM2 is great music and all. Never done anythng from Paul. MM, love it. Never got rid of any Cathe although Hardcore Extreme can be tempting. Although, cursing the TV during it does relieve any feelings of seperation from the DVD.

Natty-Hope you enjoyed your 2 hour walk. The weather here has been turbulent again. My cats spent a lot of time in the basement again. Walking is better than working out inside. I will send you pics of the guy I had a rendevoux in college with and my new friend on FB email. Both reds.

Good morning ladies :)

I'll make this short so everyone can catch up on the weekend posts.

Yesterday's w/o was 4DS higher intensity step + Intensity hiit portion (high impact only).

Today's w/o is D4 (chest, bi's, shoulder's). I can't believe I completed week 1 of STS already!

Jen
Great job doing Low Max. I know how difficult it is to focus on your workouts when you have so much going on in your life right now. Be proud that you are sticking to STS and eating well.
I understand your decision to postpone moving unless you got a job offer. I've moved 6 times in 13 years.......not fun!
Colleen
Yes the music is great in BM2. I feel the same way about that topic, good music is not a deal breaker for me.......I'm too busy concentrating and sweating and the music just fades in/out. The music in 4DS totally rocks too! I was getting frustrated with that damn step routine yesterday, but the music made me happy and so I didn't mind it so much.

Have a great day ladies :)

Natty- Ha! That's the same reason I feel motivated to still do BM2! Even though the choreography trips me up and I get flustered (although it was better this time than when I owned it before), I still find myself wanting to reach for it because I get excited to workout to Jesse's Girl. I think it's mostly because I had a huge crush on Rick Springfield back in the day...

No workout for me today! I'm pretty sore from Burn and Build! That one really works the core with those compound moves! I always get DOMS in the back from the swings, especially if I haven't been swinging a kettlebell on a regular basis. Natty- you would love this one...plus it's the one workout that I use my 10 lb kettlebell for so you wouldn't have to buy anymore equipment! Anything more than 10 lbs would be too much for this one! Do you have a high step? You could also use a regular club step if you had to. I actually did this one with my Reebok step before and it was fine, I just turned it vertical for some of the moves. Carolyn (grateful dog) just got it per my raving about it. The Enabler strikes again!:p Hee!

I hear them screening the next patient...better go! Have a great Monday everyone!!

Treehouse is so close to being done. I will have to pressure wash the outside maybe in June and seal it because it is all cedar. This week I will be digging a trench for electricity. Yuck, it's one big mud (clay) pit. I worked on the trails yesterday and made it down to our creek. It's just a small one but it will be great for the kids to go get their feet wet when it's hot.

Jen, I agree with Nat 100% about eating. If I don't eat every 2-3 hours I become starving 9not to metion grouchy) and have a hard time feeling satisfied.

The weather was a beaut yesterday and today will be 80.

I agree about the music too. Its nice but it's not a make or break for me.

Good Job on LoMax Jen. I like that one alot, it was my very first Cathe step that I got when I purchased my step.

Colleen - I am thinking the Paul Katami might be a good one to start with just because you said it only uses 1 10 pound kettlebell. Would you agree? I am thinking and have been for awhile to try some Kettlebell workouts. But I don't want to have to buy multiple ones. Just one in the beginning.

Nice walks for you Nat. I have a feeling you are going to drop weight. Between STS and Cardio, and with the walks just as a bonus throw in. Thats how I lost so much doing Meso 1, as long as I ate clean ; ).

It's my last week of this rotation. I'm still non commital about what to do next.

Sarah

Just a quick response before I head out for a bit...

Just a word of warning for those who like horror movies, DON'T WATCH INSIDIOUS!! I watched it last night and it totally freaked me out!!

Sarah
I was looking at rotations that I could do after STS is over (yup, I'm a rotation nerd now) and I came across this one:
http://cathe.com/forum/f100/oct-09-rotation-268489/
I love how it incorporates random STS discs. Just something you might be interested in (I know I will be ;)).
That's so cool how handy you are. You remind me of my cousin, she loves putting stuff together and working with tools. She assembles all her Ikea furniture with NO help! That's talent. Maybe you could send a letter to Ty Pennigton and ask to be considered a crew member on his show ;).

Colleen
I really need to invest in a high step topper. Yup, you are a good enabler, I have to agree. It's because you always talk about workouts you love with great passion and enthusiasm.
Have you been on The Walking Dead website? I took a fun little quiz on which character I was, and my result was Dale . I don't think I'm anything like that guy.

Ok, have a great day ladies :)

Hi everyone :)

D-O-M-S. Enough said. Holy crap muscles are hurting that I even didn't know existed!!! STS, where have you been all my life? :D. Loving this so much! Cathe is a rock star.
I'm happy to report that my #'s are increasing. My bi's, which are naturally pretty wussy, feel stronger. I am also starting to notice more muscle definition, but I know this also had to do with last months rotation, not just STS.
I know exercise is only part of the equation, and my diet is the most important factor to seeing optimal results. I'm going to try and add a little more protein to stave off hunger. The truth is, I would much rather eat my calories than drink them. Although I do like protein shakes, I would rather be noshing instead. I feel more satisfied that way.

Gotta get ready to head out for a nice walk. It was really rainy and crappy this morning but it looks promising now.

TTYL! Have a great day!

Hellooo ladies!

Work has been pretty busy today! This was my first break and I was super hungry for lunch. Today was Butts and Guts. LOVE that one! Ah heck, I love 'em all. I almost never feel unsatisified when I finish a Cathe dvd!:D

Natty- I'm so happy you're loving STS! Yay! Has the hunger monster hit yet? I didn't notice it too much until Meso 2 and then it was like, WHOA! I hear ya on the idea of eating rather than drinking your calories. I love my protein shakes, so that's my exception. However, normally I'm all about drinking just plain water when I'm thirsty. I have coffee (admittedly with a little bit of coffee-mate...trying to break that habit), water, plain green tea without sweetner or a glass of 1% milk with dinner. That's it. Oh, and of course the occassional bottle of beer or glass of wine. No juices, flavored beverages like Vitamin Water or the like, no sports drinks, and NO soda. I never drink soda unless I'm at someone's house, dying of thirst and they have nothing else to offer me. I'm sort of the Pop Nazi that way...I'm always railing against the evils of soda:eek:. Sometimes I get carried away with the smokers in my family too, lecturing them. I know it's annoying and I should just shut up, but sometimes I can't help myself.

That's so funny about the Walking Dead website! You're Dale, huh? LOL I haven't been on that one but I will admit to being on forums for Breaking Bad waaaay too much. Between that and my fitness forums (here and VF), I'm sort of addicted. Oh well, we all have our weaknesses! At least mine aren't necessarily unhealthy! Nerdy maybe, but not unhealthy! ;)

Sarah- you would love Burn and Build! It is a good kettlebell one to start out with if you aren't too familiar with kettlebell form. The exercises are fairly basic, it uses a light bell, and Paul has what he calls "the clinic" on there to explain and show how to do the moves. It is a very tough workout though, so not a beginner video in that sense. I still have to modify parts. The one thing about that workout that sort of ticks me off is the warm up. The warm up is as hard or harder than some of the other sections! It also has the most impact, which is just crazy to me. I follow the modifier on the warm up and keep it low impact. I need to actually warm up before I go all out!

Ellie, Sarah, Natalie, and Jen...I hope everybody is doing well!! TTYL

Another long walk for me today, but longer than I wanted it to be. I went to the grocery store to pick up some BBQ stuff and then decided to take some side streets back home........not knowing where the heck I was going . I'm used to Toronto where all the side streets and residential area's connect and the terrain is pretty flat. It's not like that here, and it's SO friggin' hilly!! I just wanted it to end........kinda like CCC :D.
I'm not sure what cardio I will do today. I already walked 2 brutal miles. I might just take a rest day.
Colleen
I'm the same way about pop, juice and beverages w/calories. I hate lecturing people about food choices, but when they rant and rave why they can't lose weight or why their belly is so bloated, I feel a need to provide them with my "wisdom". Don't even get me started about the smoking thing. I give up, honestly. I'm brutally honest about it though because I've seen too many people die from Lung Cancer and it just pi$$es me off that my loved ones chose to put their life in danger like that.
The only forum I'm on is this one. It's hard enough to keep up :p.

Ok, gotta eat! Have a good evening folks :)

Okay Colleen I getting burn and build. I've been wanting to get some kettlebells, I'm just so indecisive. I thinking the bells will be good for the core. Burn and Build sounds like it has everything I would be interested in.

Today was STS Plyo #29 and 20 ft of trench digging. I will probably end up feelig guilty about the dog, so there will probably be a walk in my future too.

I'm getting jealous Nat because I'm just not getting the doms anymore from STS. So I'm thinking about either the rotation with STS Total Body and others from that series (because I haven't used them alot) that you had told me about or even a rotation with Gym Styles or Pyramid.

Jen- Hows it going? I need to mow the lawn and was thinking of you. I don't want to do it.

Tomorrow is 4DS High Intensity Step and Low Intensity Step. My mind will be fried when I'm done. Part of me just wants to do Cyclemax but the other part says stop whinning because it will be totally fun once you know the choreography.

Sarah

I did Hiit Double Wave Pyramid today! I used to have such great endurance for that dvd but I haven't done it in awhile and I was totally sucking wind today! I realized that I've been doing more steady state cardio lately so that must be why. I feel great! I really hope she makes another dvd just like that one.

I'm going to be out of town today so I won't get to post anymore until tonight. Have a great day ladies! :D
