We're In This Together ~~MAY~~

Happy Victoria Day to my favorite American (and Italian! Didn't forget you Ellie) Cathletes!

Yesterday's Hamilton trip was a friggin' nightmare. It's the long weekend so of course that means traffic up the a$$. Everyone seemed to be going to Niagara Falls or the US border. Lots of American license plates too, so I guess they were returning back home. Stuck in traffic for 2 1/2 damn hours! Mark had to got off the 401 and take the Oakville Lakeshore. It's so amazingly pretty there. Jealousy hits hard when I see those million $$ mansions. You have to see it to believe it. 10,000 + sq ft homes, 3 and 4 car garages, entry gates w/estate names. My jaw literally hits the ground. But of course money does not buy happiness........

Today's w/o was cardio hard with MIC (floor cardio only) + 4DS bootcamp cardio. Total time 75min. I ate like crap yesterday at the in-laws (hot dogs and ice cream cake. Yuk hot dogs, yum ice cream). Today's weather is a scorcher, but we are going to the park for a bit anyway.

Colleen
I swear we have the same daughter! That's Bella too, won't let anyone touch or brush her hair. We're in this together baby!
Oh the creepy "drop-in" dude. Everyone has one of those people in their lives at one time or another. Or the friend who acts like a total douchebag when they're drunk. Some guys don't care about hitting on married women, even if they have a wife/children of their own. When I worked at the pharmacy, my office was right beside the loading dock and so I got to meet a lot of truck drivers. I cannot tell you how many of them asked me out and openly admitted they were married. At first it bothered me, but then it became humorous as I got used to it. As long as you do the right thing, that's all that matters.
Jen
I'm glad to see you had fun at the wedding reception. Weddings always insure good eats/drinks ;).
I hope your parents help you out w/the Texas housing situation.
Have a great time w/D7 . Has it been super hot there? The humidity is really bad here.

Have a great day ladies :)

Happy Monday ladies!

I FINALLY finished the darn garden! I didn't even plant that much but I was sort of dreading it and only got it half done yesterday. Luckily, I took today off to watch my niece (my sister gets back tonight) so I'm able to just get some stuff done. I planted cucumbers, tomatoes, one jalepeno plant, radishes, green beans and butternut squash. It takes awhile to get the garden set up initially because we go through the trouble of putting down a black fabric thing to keep the weeds down and moisture in. It's a lot of work at first but it saves tons of weeding later on! Mark thankfully put the fence up this year, too! No more deer eating our green beans!

Today started my active recovery week! Yesterday I finally got back and biceps in (several days late!) and I even managed to get some pilates based abs in. Today I did one of my Ellen Barret dvds (Fat Burning Fusion) and some more pilates. I wound up working out for 75 minutes, but it was all mellow, light cardio, toning and stretchy. It felt great!

Did you guys see the breakdown for CrossFire??? I'm so excited I can't stand it! I wonder when she'll be shipping them??:D:eek:

Natty- if you ever get the chance (or have the room) you should definitely try a small garden. I've never ran into a worm, although there are bugs out there! There is nothing like fresh tomatoes and green beans though! Nummy!:p

Jen- that's awesome your parents are coming around a bit to help you out. It's so nice when family steps up like that:). Positive vibes being sent your way!;)

Sarah- I hope your feeling better today. I was totally pms'ing yesterday, too. Tired, cranky and crabby! I'm getting PMS symptoms a full 7-10 days before my period starts these days! Some months are better than others. It's weird, I can tell right after my period ends if I'm going to have a yucky hormonal month or if I'm going to feel relatively normal. This month...yucky hormonal:(.

Hope everyone is having as nice a day as we are here! It's beautiful and sunny! :) Later girls!

My daughter is feeling better so she went back to school today. There is only 17 days left of school. I cna't decide if thats is good or bad. Yesterday I took the entire day off. I didn't even take the dog on a walk. I made homemade hostess filled cupcakes with my daughter. Here's the kicker, I only ate 1. Very proud of myself for that.

Today was Intensity. Love It!

Colleen - We don't plant our garnden for several weeks still. The weather is just to unpredictable. If it rains everyday (which is normal for us), it just stunts the poor little plants. However with that being said, our tomatoes are already growing in a green house where they stay. Your right nothin' like fresh home grown green beans, corn, tomatoes. Good for you for getting so much done. I fear if I worked everything else wouldn't happen. : ( Our entire garden is fenced as well due to deer and rabbits.

Nat - I'm sorry your car tripped sucked, and to boot hot dogs. Thats not even worth the calories. Except maybe if you add chili to the top. : )
I wouldn't even want a 10,000 SQ ft house, to much to clean. Somewhere between 2000-2500 would be the sweet spot.

Jen - I glad to hear your parents are considering it. That they realize you just want to work and you will do anything to land a job. They should be proud of you that you are willing to relocate your entire life for work.

Sarah

Hi Friends.
Attempting to respond to you all on my DROID. Today, I walked in chilly weather and did disc 7. Tomorrow is disc 8 because of the Holiday weekend coming. No decision yet.
Sarah. Your cupcakes sound delicious. Do you deliver?
Natty. Can't stand traffic although seeing nice real estate is fun sometimes. Audacious is some though.
Colleen. I'm in awe of anyone who gardens. Plants and I don't do good.

With PMS, I want to eat fried goodies but my stupid app guilts me out of it.
Holiday weeks make it difficult to do my required job applications to get my unemployment benefits let alone interview. Seeing Texas on TV lately especially Dallas gives me comfort to see the green.

Anthony Bourdain is on so I must go.

Jen

My Mom was in ER last night due to stress from the move and my youngest brother's lectures. He worries about them but he also adds to it.
Dallas move has calmed down but much alive. Need to check on alternatives.

Hope to be wrong on this. I haven't heard from a friend whom I do a lot of Holiday festival stuff with. We talked about doing something different this year when we met for brunch about one month ago. Texas came about and emotions on job interviews. My guess is her family convinced her to do whatever since I will be moving. Her parents believe I am the wild one and think their daughter is morally superior to me cause of their Mennonite background. Reality is she a bit more than me since I did my wildness years back. It's painful. I believe its time for a new start.

Good morning :)

Just a quick check in and bbl to write responses.

Today's w/o is 4 loads of laundry and then D10 (chest, shoulder's & bi's). Doing laundry in apartments kinda suck. Very inconvenient to haul all that crap down to the basement with a small kid who wants to "help". Thankfully there is a nice tv, couches, toys, books and vending machines to keep us busy while we are waiting. I miss my old house sometimes :(.

BTW, how did all of you do the 5% increase? I calculated them last night for my discs this week and some of the increases are not even 1 lbs . I'm just rounding up to 1lbs. There is no way I am going to keep adjusting my weighted gloves that frequently. Is that how you guys did it?

Gotta jet! BBL!

I just use my next weights up. Weighted gloves would match the 5% though which I don't start those till later.

Today was STS total body, I like that it is light on UB exercises and has more LB. Tomorrow is Step Blast and I think I'll go for it. I previewed it today and it looks like fun. If I don't get as great of a workout in, thats ok. I'll either walk the dog or do Zumba.

I have ankle weights that are 2.5 and wrist weights that are 1 pounders. They come in handy and they were free with something.

It's funny you mentioned going and doing the laundry for some reason I was thinking about that lasy week. And wondered if you had to go to a laundry room to do it. That sucks, big time. I would dread that and probably wear as little clothes as possible just so I would have less to do. ; )

I hope your mom is on the up and up Jen. I'm gonna have to go check out this Anthony Bourdain. You mention him alot, he must be your hubba hubba!

Colleen - We never have any visitors over. One because we don't have firends ; ) and the other is we live in BFE or so we are told. I'd like to think we did on purpose, so we don't have those unwanted visitors.

Sarah

Sarah. Anthony Bourdain is one fine man. He wrote, Kitchen Confidential, about life in a restaurant kitchen. Very bold and honest. My Mom is Ok. Heard from my friend tonight.
My workout was a 50 minute walk and disc 8.

Good morning ladies :)

Whoa, I can really feel that 5% increase in my whole UB today. I can't believe this is my last week for M1. It went by SO fast. I'm kinda' looking forward to recovery week, I gotta tell you. I don't think I've went a whole week without weights in......I don't know how long actually.

Did you guys see those black bean brownies? I'm not a baker but I'm going to try and make them this weekend. I have to pick up all the ingredients plus a can of Guinness.

Sarah
Very proud of you for eating 1 cupcake :). I agree with Jen, send some over UPS my way too :p.
I'm sure you must have lost weight. You are being very active outdoors, doing Cathe and eating well.
Step Blast is SO MUCH FUN! It's not as difficult as 4DS step. The best part is the blasts at the end with Paint It Black. Something about that song just does it for me. You really see Cathe shine. I think it's probably one of her best, if not her best step workout to date.
Do you like STS TB? I found it went overboard on the deadlifts. It did not have enough tri's and bi's for my liking.
Jen
I just saw the post about your mom! I hope she is doing well.
Regarding your friend, I hate it when parents blame their children's negative behavior (or behavior they do not approve of) on other people's influences. She is an adult for pete's sake! Sorry, some stuff makes me mad .
I'm going to google Anthony too ;).
Colleen
Excited for the new workouts too! You must be so happy about the Low Impact option w/Tabata! Oh dear lord, Tabata is HARD! Think 40/20 condensed . You really need to dig deep for it.
Your garden sounds lovely (and yummy!). When I was a kid, my grandmother had an awesome veggie garden and an apple tree. The homemade tomato sauce was AMAZING! When I was 2, I ate a worm. Perhaps that's why the garden scares me a bit....

Have a wonderful day ladies :)

Hello Friends.
Feel uncomfortable cause nothing is happening in here and Texas is on hold. After almost 11 months of not working, changes need to happen. Many of my group members from the program are being humbled because the State did give some interviewing/resume advice but sold us on the small business aspect, which is just as tough to get in as corporate America. I think there are less jobs now in MI than one year ago.
About my friend. Yes, I truly believe she lets her parents believe I am a bad influence although she does some stuff that would truly throw them back. One problem of a few with this friendship. The good does outweigh the bad.

Natty-5% is a lot especially with endurance. You are moving quicker than I but I didn't workout last week which put me behind. Good to take a week off, the recovery you will need for Cycle 2. Yes, check out Anthony.
Colleen-Crossfire does scare me. The breakdown is cool. This is Cathe's element though-High impact and high intensity.
Sarah-do you need my address?

Told my "friend" its time we meet up for a drink. Not sure how he will respond. Should be interesting.

Hello ladies!

Today I did YogaWorks Bodyslim. This week is my active recovery and I'm trying to fit in as much yoga as I can! My flexibility is much more limited than it used to be. I've been neglecting those stretches and cool downs, not to mention how I've gotten away from yoga and pilates. It used to be all I did and now I'm finding it difficult to fit in! I just want to do Cathe all the time! I wasn't too crazy about her yoga workouts in the LIS series, though, so I find myself doing other dvds this week. I miss my Cathe already!

Sarah- I'm so glad your daughter is feeling better! Good job on only 1 cupcake! I find it's especially hard to be good during ttotm! This whole week I'm feeling the pms and yet I have to be good since I'm not burning as many calories with my workouts as usual:cool:. No choice!
I love STS total body, too. But then, I love deadlifts and lower body stuff as well! I avoid the upright rows, though, especially with the barbell. I modify that in High Reps as well.

Natty- you'll have to let me know how the black bean brownies turn out. I'm not so sure about beans in my brownies.... Of course, you'd never think zucchini bread would be delicious (at least when I was a kid I refused to eat it), but that's just yummy. I totally laughed when I read you ate a worm when you were 2:eek:! Holy smokes, that would be enough to keep me away from dirt! lol We used to go fishing a lot when I was little and I could never quite get over the squeamish feeling when I would put a worm on the hook...yuck!

Jen- Good luck having that drink with your friend! I used to have a friend (or 2 actually) whose parents would blame me and my sister for being this bad influence when they were really the wild children. Seriously, this one friend was totally promiscous and I wasn't...and yet her mom always treated me like I was some kind of threat to the peace of their home:rolleyes:. She even went so far one time as to call my mom and raise hell over it! That woman was totally psycho though, which is probably why my friend was a little messed up.

Okay, better go. TTYL!

The "friend" is the guy whom I knew from my old job. He agreed. Rather easily.
The other one with the story about the parents is female.

Hi everyone,

My mom's cousin just passed away. I will be attending a funeral and a viewing Friday and Saturday. If I don't post, you know where I am.

Today's w/o will be a light one since I'm doing it at 7:30pm, so MMA Fusion it is. I really need to let out some stress. Bella has been giving me a very hard time today and I need a way to vent. She spent a whole 20min crying about something and I had no idea what it was about . I seriously wanted to leave and take a walk. Shortly thereafter, as I am talking to my aunt about her cousin's passing, she dumps a whole tub of beads on the floor. I was seriously livid. On the upside, I made a yummy dinner with sauteed kale w/garlic and chicken and it turned out pretty tasty :p. I was in such a hurry to eat that I forgot my to include my carbs .

Have a good night.

Hi Natty.
Sending hugs your way. Your day sounds rotten. My sister went thru the same stuff with her daughter with the crying and such. It does get better.
Sorry to hear about your Aunt.
You and yours will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Okay, Step Blast was fun and not too difficult that I still couldn't have fun with it. On the scale of sweatiness, it was down to my bully button. Thanks Nat for giving me the nudge I needed.

Nat- I can't believe your almost done with Meso 1. I always felt like the rest week with no weights was welcome with open arms. I wasn't to about them before the program but now I count down. I wouldn't like worms if I had the experience too. Once I went outside and stepped on a slug and it squishes in between my toes. I get chills now when I accidently touch a slug. Yuck!

Good job Jen, my friend told me the answer will always be no , if you don't ask. So good job for asking the friend for a drink.
I too was the bad influence on the BF according to her parents in high school. Even though she lost her virginity on my brothers bed. Hah.

Colleen, the wide stance deadlifts in the last tri-set where she tells you to hold the bar in the center were really good. I don't know if she always tells you that and I just never noticed, but I could feel those in a whole new way.

Sarah

Hello Friends.
Almost the weekend plus it's warm and humid. My traveling for the Holiday weekend might be on Memorial Day to northern MI. Saturday, I should be local.
The drink with my "friend," fortunately, I didn't have to twist his arm at all. Would like it to happen sooner than later.
June 1st, it will be 11 months of unemployment. Not an anniversary I chose. Not working though has allowed me to spend quality time with my Mom, work on my house and get to know my "friend." I do miss the challenges and blessings of work immensley.

Peace.

JT
