We're in This Together***Jan 2-Jan31st**

Morning ladies!

Workout yesterday: XTrain C,B,S plus 100 rep challenge bi and tris. My arms felt like wet noodles! Made washing my hair in the shower interesting. LOL I found the 100 rep challenges really tough when tacked onto the end of an upper body workout, even though it wasn't the bi's and tri's. When I did tri's before with the 5 lbs I was fresh. I think it was after a leg workout if I recall. It was MUCH more difficult this time! I ended up having to rest at 50 reps, then 60, 70, 80 and 90! Once I failed at 50 reps I could barely eek out 10 at a time after that even with rests.  My tri's are feeling it today! I've come to the conclusion that I prefer HoCo to work my chest and shoulders though. I think when I get back from our vacation I'm going to do HoCo (plus burn set back) weekly with the bi's and tri's disc instead of XTrain CBS.

Today: XTrain Low Impact Hiit! :D

Natty- I'm so glad you enjoyed Supercuts! It is a fun workout. I do enjoy that one, I just had to readjust my expectations of it since it was more of a moderate, steady state type cardio for me. How was your heart rate for this one? Definitely good to listen to your body if you feel over-extended with the weights. I've been getting SO addicted to my new yoga dvds! I bought Ultimate Yogi and I am just beyond impressed with the workouts! I got it last week and I've already done 3 of them. I want to try and get another one in this week sometime. I want to try and get at least one yoga in a week, which probably means I need to squeeze a 6th workout day in somewhere.

Jen- I'm so glad your feeling better! This flu was crazy rampant :(.

Marie- Good luck with going back to work! It will be a rough adjustment that first week. Not just missing him, but also figuring out when/where you need to pump your milk. I was lucky in that I had my office and I could just tell the staff to not fill certain appointment times. I had a good 20 minutes 3 times a day to pump with my office door locked. Not everyone has the privacy or ability to carve out the time they need though. I hope it goes smoothly for you!

Sarah- Hip thrusts with 50 lbs! Wowza! Trust me, that is super heavy! I couldn't believe what a difference 40 lbs was compared to 30. That 10 lbs extra was a lot tougher! Pat yourself on the back for getting 50 reps out. Be really careful with your form on those. I've had a few ladies on my other check in tweak their backs after doing it. It's so important you squeeze your butt to drive the movement and not let your low back or quads take over. Once the butt muscle fails (Hehe, that made me chuckle after I wrote it for some reason...I'm such a juvenile) it's time to rest.

Have a great day ladies!

Hello Friends.

Feeling a bit better today. Next week, I book my trip to DFW to check it out, maybe interview and find a place to live. Will call on my job application/interview on hold. Weening myself off of Twitter again. My sister might be in Dallas when I'm there so we could do lunch. She lives in NY.

My butt was a little sore right in the crease from butt to thigh. I had grocery shopping to do today. Yuck. My daughter Kate is sitting with me right now and says Hi! She also says I'm gross because I'm talking about my sore butt.

Todays WO was Bis-tris Burnsets + Core #2. I really liked this UB WO it was short and sweat. I am getting better at the core. Don't get me wrong I still can only do about 50%. I also decided to tack on HIIT 30/30 to get a little cardio action because I'm not able to walk this evening because of a wrestling match.

Jen - Glad to hear you are feeling better. My daughter is sick with a very sore throat, coughing and sneezing also. It will be nice to have lunch with your sister. How often do you get to see her?

Colleen - At first I was feeling it in my quads on the hip thrusts but then all of a sudden the pain snuck into with butt. I like working my shoulders with weights but working my chest is def. not my favorite.

Marie - Good Luck on your first day back. I am feeling for you. In your writting about B you are so in love with him and thoroughly are enjoying being with him.
Apple chips? Please tell me more.

Nat - How did your muffins turn out?

Sarah

Hello everyone :)

Today I did TTM . The entire 55min of it [insert throw up face here]. I have no clue as to how people do the "Extreme Premixes". I think it really must be a mind/body connection, because I can get through Imax3 just fine and dandy. I used very light weights for the parts that require them, like the UB/Core section and Compound Leg Work. All in all, I was proud of my cardio output :D.

Colleen
Holy Tamale workout yesterday! I have only tacked on bi's & tri's 100RC's when I'm doing the bi's & tri's workout. Perhaps that's why I get fatigued really fast.
My HR during Super Cuts was exactly where I wanted it to be :D. Yes, definitely more of a steady state workout for sure. I'm not complaining though, trust me.
So proud of you for getting into Yoga workouts that you can actually enjoy!

Sarah
HOLY COW lady 50lbs barbell!!!! Even if you only reached 50, that is still super impressive! BTW, Cathe says don't do them on the ball as you could lose your stability. Someone asked her on the Q&A not too long ago.
I honestly don't think I push myself that hard TBH. I see what other's do, and I feel as though I'm more on the "moderate" range of exercising. But thank you for thinking of me as a warrior :D.
My turkey loaf turned out ok, but I think I can do better for next time. With baking, I have to go by the book because I can't bake worth s**t, but with cooking I like to experiment. I will take your advice if I plan on making those bars :).

Marie
YUMMY apple chips! I have never made those :p.
I love Imax 3...actually love is a strong word. I prefer Imax3 over any other intense cardio for blasting calories and conditioning my heart. The step combo's are what make the w/o super fun :D.

Jen
Glad you are feeling better :)

Yesterday's workout, XTrain Low Impact Hiit (all out extreme premix), was awesome. LOVE this workout! I just had a smile on my face the whole time. I can't wait for more low impact cardio from Cathe in the future. I need more of this kind to work into my rotations. This one is definitely going to get a lot of use! This and Tabatacise are great endorphin producers!:D

I was going to do Bi's and Tri's today but they are still sore from Tuesdays challenges. I'm thinking of doing one of my yoga's today instead and pushing that one to Saturday. I'm tellin' ya, I'm getting addicted to UY!

Natty- awesome job on TTM! That one and Crossfire, I swear, if my body would allow it I'd probably do them every day! :p Imax 3 on the other hand, lol, I'll never forget when I tried that one (got it in trade). I got through the warm up okay, then literally as soon as she started the first combo...like the first 3 steps, and I stood there with my mouth open and my heart was pounding...not from exertion, but from a "oh my god what have I gotten myself into here!?" LOL

Sarah- I literally LOL when I read your daughter's responses to your typing! :D Teenagers are so easy to embarass and gross out! I can't wait to embarass the heck out of my kids when they get older. Mwahahahaha!

Jen- have fun with your sister in DFW! Is she going to be out there for business?

gotta run...have a great day ladies!

Hello Friends.

Sorry, I haven't been good at personals at all lately. The flu is hanging around a bit still so I'm back on meds.

Natty. Congrats on TTM! I have no doubt you can succeed at any challenge in front of you. If that's the stepping one, I know I tried it once.

Marie. Please tell us more about Apple Chips. Are they drizzled in Lemon juice then sprinkled with cinammon and put in the oven for 2 minutes or so? Or, do you dehydrate them first? Sounds yummy. Love apples. B is getting big. Bummer about going back to work.

Sarah. Love your daughter's Kate response to your typing. Does she workout with Cathe?

Colleen. Love that workout too.

Update. My sister will be in Dallas for work since her whole department moved there from Boston. She, right now, isn't being pressured to move. She works and supervises out of her home in NY.
We normally see each other once or twice a year. That depends if I go to NY in June for my niece's birthday. This year, if I move to Texas, I won't be in MI or NY for at least 6mths.
The ONLY thing cold weather is good without snow is that its curbing the flu here. If we had real snow, it would be real good skiing.

Todays WO was X-train Legs premix #3 with the whole sha-bang including rear delts. I feel exhausted. My back hurt a little when I was done, so I did Yoga Relax premix # 1. I almost fell asleep on the floor afterwards. My bis and tris are very sore from yesterday, Yippee.

Jen - No Kate doesn't dp them with me. Taylor, her sister, does on occasion. She actually was sitting out watching me do Spin and likes naming the "real" song. And of course I have to listen to the "original is better." I said it's not suppose to be better its just suppose to get you moving.

Marie - How was first day?

Colleen (enabler) - What is so much different about UY?

Nat - I agree on those Extreme Premixes, I dont know how its done. Todays WO was long enough and it didnt even have the cardio factor.

Sarah

Rhythmic Step for me this morning. Can you believe I got up at 4am?! I was determined to get a workout in today and knew I wouldn't do it when I got home from work.

Work was good. It felt nice to be back and everyone was so excited to see me. I sure did miss my boy though. On the way to work I heard the song that Tony first heard when he brought Breckin the nursery in the hospital. It's Ho Hey by The Lumineers. Every time we hear it we think of when he was born. Anyways, I heard it and just broke down. Tony sent me pictures all day and the day went really fast since we were so busy. When I got home I got a big 'ol smile from B. That was really cute....so happy to see mama :)

Tomorrow is Legs and work again 7-3:30.

Speaking of not being able to quit eating. I am on a roll tonight. I had potstickers and veggies for dinner and am about to have a bowl of Kashi Go Lean with almond butter...YUM!

So apple chips....they turned out really good. I thinly sliced them and sprinkled them with cinnamon and a little truvia. Then I put them on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 225 for 3 hours turning every 30 minutes. Time consuming to bake but then make the house smell sooooo good :)

Colleen- Where are you going on vacation? Did I miss that post?! That's nice that you had your office and 3 times to pump. It was so busy today I only got a chance to pump twice but got 15 oz total so I was happy with that. We have a room right on the unit to pump. Very convenient! We call it the pumping office ;) Tell me more about this yoga. I have been wanting to start doing it once a week but I'm looking for something advanced. I love tough poses. Do you think I would like these ones?

Natty- Extreme premix?! No thank you lol! TTM is hard enough on its own!

Sarah- Your DD is too funny! WTG on your workout!

Jen- Feel better!!! Good luck next week!

I might not be able to post tomorrow, so I'm doing it now :). Today's w/o was NOT Xtrain . Instead I decided to do LBB with very low weight #'s. I focused on form and going deep into the exercises. HOLY BURN . I love, love, love LBB :D. I'm glad I decided to ditch the weights this week. My body feels rejuvenated already.

Sarah
Great w/o yesterday . I find it's easier to tack-on cardio after weights. Cardio just drains me, and so after that I have nothing left.
Tell Kate I said "hello" :). What a sweetie :).
Yoga Relax makes me want to fall asleep too. Proud that you did it :).

Jen
Hope you have a nice time with your sister :).
We have not had much snow after that last event. It was weird to have such warm weather last week . Did you get that too?

Colleen
I remember my first experience with Imax3 went exactly like yours. But you know me, I *heart* complex step now :).
Low Impact Hiit is pretty awesome . No repetition = no dread :D. I can't say the same for CF and TTM unfortunately :(.
If lived in the USA, your enabling powers would work like magic on me ;).

Marie
HI !!!!!!

Have a good evening ladies :)

No workout for me today. I was going to try and squeeze an express premix for bi's and tri's today, but sleep sounded so much better. :p

Natty- LBB is awesome! I think it's been a few months since I did that one, but I have it on my calendar for the day I get back from our trip. I just love Cathe's energy in that one. :)

Marie- We are going to Cancun at the end of Jan/first week of Feb. :) All inclusive resorts are da bomb!

Sarah (and Marie)- Ultimate Yogi is fantastic. I resisted getting it since it's a multiple workout "system" and so it's not cheap. People on VF raved all last year about it, and then when the inevitable "best buy of the year" threads came along person after person wrote UY as their best buy. I finally had to cave. The best price for it is with TotalFitness where you can use the 10off coupon code so it comes to about $97 and if you are US you get free shipping with that. It's got 12 yoga dvds included, and I've done about half of them so far: Flexibility, Yin Yoga, Detox, Gentle Yoga and Vitality. I've absolutely loved all of them except for Vitality which was just ok. I haven't attempted the more intense ones like Strength, Cardio or Cross Training yet. The one down side is these workouts are LONG, like 65 minutes, seriously. I was afraid the length would bore me and I'd get agitated, but honestly I love every second of it when I'm doing them. He does have his Yoga Short and Sweet dvd which is $19.99 on TotalFitness (remember use the 10off code!). That dvd has 5 practices that are less than 40 minutes in length. I got that one, too but haven't done those yet.
I honestly worried in the clips I saw that his voice would bug me, but once I started that wasn't the case at all. He is very genuine, sort of a hippie surfer type dude, but I enjoy and appreciate the things he has to say. I love the sequencing, the poses he chooses and the variations on them (I think you'd like the challenge of some of the deep poses, Marie), the pacing is perfect, the cueing is excellent, the filming is very professional, and my hips have felt so great this week from all the flexibility training. :)

Okay, better run. Have a great weekend ladies!!

Have a good weekend Colleen! Thanks for the info on UY. Just one more thing to add to my list because of a certain enabler ; )

My bi-ceps are so sore from X-trans Bis-tris from Wed. I mean they are 10 times more sore today than yesterday. Like painful even when they aren't being touched. Almost throbbing.

I already completed today WO Hard Strikes Timesaver something or other.
I will also being taking the dog on a walk apparently because right now she keeps throwing herself at the door. She tries to rub her collar up against it so it's particularly loud to get our attention. Then maybe a nice Epsoms salt bath. Ooo lala.

Thanks for your comments to Kate. That made her smile. Today she is home sick with me. So we are playing Nancy Drew games on the computer. It's actually fun, specially if we cheat!

Marie - I am putting making Apple chips on my list to do this weekend. Sounds delicious. I love potstickers and make super good ones, infact my daughters ask for them so I usually will make an entire batch and freeze them because they freeze perfectly.

Sarah

Disc 9 legs and XTrain core #1 for me this morning. That core workout was insane! Soooo tough!

Worked today and it way a bit slower than yesterday unfortunately. Made me miss B so much!

Home now though of course. He has been sleeping on me since 5. Tony said he was up most of the day so I'm sure he's exhausted but I'm worried he won't sleep tonight. We shall see.....

Colleen- UY loves awesome! I watched all the clips and plan on ordering it. Looks like something I would really be into. I used to do yoga once a week when I was a member at Lifetime Fitness. I felt so good during and after class. Not to mention I really need to work on taking a rest day...or yoga day...as you saw from my thread in open discussion. Thanks to you and Natty for posting in there. Have fun on vacation. Now I remember you posting that awhile back. I apparently have mama brain now ;)

Sarah- You make potstickers?! Yum! I just buy mine frozen. If you get a chance you should post the recipe. I would love to try it. Enjoy the apple chips :) and those bicep DOMS :)

Natty- Good job listening to your body and ditching the heavy weights this week. Guaranteed you since got a great workout doing LBB with light weights. Thanks for posting on my rest days thread. Say how long do you walk on your easy/rest days? Do you keep a good pace/speed walk? I have been walking at the Mall of America a couple times a week but just kind of mosey along.

Hi Jen! Hope you're feeling better!

Hello everyone :)

No workout for me yesterday :). I had my cousin and sis over. We went to the new grocery center by my house and did some shopping. I've been trying to stick mostly to the outer perimeter's of the grocery store. We have been going through so much meat lately (Mark takes leftover's to work) that I think it's time to get a Costco membership again and start buying the stuff in bulk.

I made Jamie's E's carrot cake protein bars. They turned out pretty tasty :p.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I am in the process of getting Bella enrolled in school for Sept. Between all the paperwork and documentation, I'm feeling sort of overwhelmed :(. I'm also try to decide if I want her in full day kindergarten 3X-5X/week. I think I might start her off with 3X and see how she does. I think being in school 5X/week, 6hr days, is a bit much for a 4yr old.

Marie
I remember when Bella was around 3months, she would cat-nap during the day and sleep a nice long stretch from 9pm-6am without waking!!! I thought I was the luckiest mother in the world. I really did not experience sleep disruptions until she turned 1 1/2. I guess that was my punishment for having such a wonderful sleeper for the first year . Babies/small children are always changing with their sleeping/eating habits, I've come to realize :D.
When I walk with Bella outside, I can't really keep set-pace. I'm mostly active from anywhere 1-3hrs. When I walk with Leslie indoors, the pace can get very brisk, so you average 4-5mph. If you are walking at the mall, even for hours at a slow pace, you are probably still getting 10,000 steps, which is great! Ahhh I love walking :).

Sarah
What is a potsticker? I'm intrigued :p
My bi's & tri's go the worst DOMS with Xtrain! I wonder what results everyone will obtain with this program.
I love dogs :). They have such personalities and seem to act like little children.

Colleen

This might sound weird, but I love Cathe's outfit and make-up in LBB.
Hope you had a nice rest day! Sleep is the bomb :D.

Have a great day ladies!

Week 2 down! I completed it with All-out Low Impact with Core #1. I feel great today with the exception on a itchy throat. I don't want to get sick now.

Yesterday I did take the dog on a 3 mile walk. Maybe tonight too. But sometimes she needs a day in between because she has a bad hip and knee.

Nat - That is so good your husband eat leftovers. So much better for him then most alternatives that people eat while being at work. I wish my husband would start. He's tried but since he is in a different spot everyday it and lunch isn't scheduled its just to up in the air for him.
Potstickers are Asian Dumplings. The filling is varied but usually contains a meat (shrimp or pork) cabbage, scallions, garlic, ginger, soy, and egg as a binder. Then you wrap them in a Gyoza or Wonton wrapper. A lot of dumplings are steamed but potstickers are steamed and fried so they get a little crispy. You can serve them plan or with a soy based dipping sauce. Yum.
My Mom did the Leslie DVD and she liked it. Unfortunately she decided to do all 5miles and because of this her knee hurt when she got done.

Marie - When you are talking about being worried if B would sleep after he had been napping on you it made me laugh. I remember when the kids were a little older and if we were driving they would fall asleep every time and if it was past about 4 that meant they would be up all night. So I did some really naughty things to keep them awake in the car. Like roll down the windows if they were fading. This one is really bad... I would also run over the bumps on the outside of the lanes that are there to alert the truck drivers when they get drowsy and start to veer off. Those really would startle them. Feeling a bit guilty right now. Okay I'm over it.

Sarah

Quick check in for me. I'll be back tomorrow for personals.

AB for me this morning :)

Tony's Xmas work party is tonight. Gonna get all dressed up and even put makeup on ;)

Off to get ready....

Hello Friends.

Yes, I'm going to Texas. Never been so excited to spend a good chunk of change. Direct flight from GRR to DFW. Going to visit the Texas campus of my alma mater just after I land then head to GrapeVine. Wednesday is Ft. Worth and rentals. Thursday is chill and get ready to fly home. Got to choose my seats on both flights. Plus, I rented a car with GPS so my phone's navigation won't burn out.

Been ill and haven't been able to kick my cold/flu.

Will do personals on Sunday/Monday.

Peace.

JT

Jen- Good luck in TX!

The party was good last night! Dinner was amazing. Filet mignon, chicken, potatoes and asparagus. The awards ceremony was boring but it was probably because I didn't know any of the people that won. We took off shortly after that. I missed B a ton plus I needed to either feed or pump or my boobs would have exploded. It was fun to get all dressed up, do my hair and wear a dress. I'm glad I don't have to do it every day but a few times a year it's cool.

Today I was feeling lazy so I did CSS and core#1. My mom and stepdad came in town to hang out for the day. My mom is super crafty and did a few art projects with B.....footprints on a frame and handprints on another. Cute stuff! I didn't get that crafty gene ;)

Morning ladies! :)

Yesterday I did Cardio Leg Blast plus 100 rep hip thrust with the 40 lb barbell. My whole tush burns when I do those . I really focus on using the glutes to drive the whole movement so I don't feel it at all in my low back or quads, maybe a little in the hamstrings though. I go slow and even pause at the top of the movement and hold the squeeze to make sure my back isn't taking over. I wonder if some people are trying to go through the movement too fast? I feel so bad for the two ladies on my other check in who tweaked their back. :( They're sort of afraid to try it again.

So I'll be at home this morning since Dylan has gotten sick again. :( I took him to urgent care yesterday since we were afraid maybe he was getting pneumonia again (he's had it like 4 of 5 times since he was 21/2). He had the chest xray and it was supposedly clear, then they swabbed for influenza which came back negative. The doc said the test for that isn't totally reliable though so he still wants him to take Tamiflu, just in case. Mark is coming home so I can at least work the afternoon. We are freaking out a little since the trip is so close...

Jen- Good luck in Texas! Are you going to scout for jobs when you are there, too?

Marie- I laughed out loud about the boobs exploding feeling. Boy do I remember that! I remember what a relief it would be to pump or feed when I would get that full. Can you imagine stopping breast feeding so suddenly that you would have to endure that for several days until the milk went down?

Sarah-how are you feeling? I hope you don't get sick! This has been such a bad winter for this crap .

Natty- Good luck with enrolling Bella. That stuff is so overwhelming sometimes. Are you going to go back to heavy weights this week? Since I have to be home this morning anyway I was thinking of doing some gentle yoga. I usually take today off but I'm pretty sore and that might be just the ticket!

Oh crap, I just took Lydia's temperature...another one is staying home today. :(

Hello Friends.

Colleen. Hope Dylan is feeling better with your upcoming trip. Its hard to shake off this year. Good for you on your workout! Not Lydia too? Very contagious.

Marie. Feeling lazy with CSS? Wow, that's great. The dinner sounded great. Sorry about your boobs ready to explode.

Sarah. I LOVE potstickers! PF Changs does those pretty good.

Natty. Good for you to start early instead of waiting for the last minute to enroll. My niece went for 4 halfs. My sister didn't think being in school all day long was good but Morgan loves first grade though.

Update: High winds Saturday night caused a huge tree branch to fall at the end of my driveway. It was a good old fashioned workout of moving dead wood. Plus, house cleaning. Today, my first job hunt on a Monday morning. Later this week, I have to focus on Texas.
My trip will be landing mid-morning central time in Dallas. Driving to my alma mater Texas campus. Then, check in at hotel. Hope to interview Wednesday morning or Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday afternoon will be house searching. My Mom suggested that I plah it by ear and stay longer if I need to. Excited about 75 and sunny.
