Today's Sizes...WTH?!?! A ZERO?!?!

My specialty is Women's Health so I defer to the experts. :) The ADA does recognize a blood sugar greater than 100 mg/dl as abnormal.

Just chiming in with another - sizing sucks comment lol.
I am a 2 in some pants, a 4 in others and a 6 in other brands.
My favorite pants are 7's. I hate that they are 7's but since they fit me the same as several pair of 2's and 4's I'll live with it.
I'm 5' tall and its hard to find pants as I don't like to pay $10/pair to have them hemmed - I try to find capris and wear them like pants. And finding capris sucks too - I basically have to find bermuda shorts.
Anyway, I am 5' 115 lbs and haven't found a zero that fits me yet - but I think maybe I"ll keep looking ;)

You know, I am the same height and size as you :)). I buy pants size Petite. And they fit great. I am in Canada and 2 stores I buy from are Reitmans and Sears Catalogue. There must be a brand or a store that offer Petite sizes. I just had to post since we are similar size. For petite, it's actually even smaller, I wear 4 (sometimes too bagy but 2 is too tight). But I have to say, I hope I will look like you after kids. I have no kids and I am 28. Wow.... really... it is so scary for me to gain lots of weights after kids. I am so happy I dicovered Cathe. I haven't lost any weight since I never needed to. But I maintain and look better and more defined. Probably lost inches. Anyhow, you are an inspiration!

I was in Vegas when they first opened the Cache Luxe last year. I thought the clothing was beautiful, but a little over the top (way dressy) for regular wear. (Even more so than regular Cache). They have since opened one in my hometown (Atlanta), but I haven't had time to go. I do however, frequent the regular Cache and love it. My favorite are their jeans. They fit me so well, and they are always so stylish and pretty. It's just nice to have a place that I can go and know the jeans will always fit.

I've always wondered why they can't just use the same standard sizes the men use? I would love to have a waist and length measurement right on the label with no fudging! How great would that be?

I can go and buy DH a pair of pants right off the rack and 9 times out of 10 they will fit him just fine. Why can't the manufacturers use the same concept for womens pants????

Although, they would have to take the size label off the back of the pants (Levi's). Men don't seem to care about this, but this certainly would not fly for women. Geez - they might as well post our age on our rump too.:7 LOL!

I agree with this in concept, but the problem is that women want a different "fit" than men do -- a more fitted, true to our actual shape style. I can buy my DS and DH pants off the rack easily also. But think about how differently they expect those pants to fit than women do.

If you convert your size to the European size charts you can see that size 0 equals with 36. In Italy, Spain and other countries size 36-42 is the average. If you are smaller than the average there are still numbers under 36.
In US the average size is 2-8. If you are smaller than that, no number left for you on the chart. They had to come up with 0, 00, 000.
Almost all clothes are made in other countries/ China, Singapore, etc../ I don’t think they pay enough attention for making the pants, jeans, and skirts according the charts. Sometimes clothes with same size and fashion have different measurements. Don’t worry about the numbers. Nobody can tell what number is in your clothes. The most important is that you looking healthy and attractive.

I know. I sell clothing on the side. So I put up a pair of jeans to sell yesterday..size 2's. Measuring more like 8's. Weird. Abercrombie and Fitch brand. I guess I wear ---0. :p

This is one of my top 10 pet peeves! I annoys the crap out of me to drag six different sizes of the same pair of pants into the dressing room because I have no idea what will fit. I was in a big hurry ones day and grabbed a skirt from there in a 2 got home and it fell off when I put it on. My sister is a solid 10 n most clothes and it fit her. It's not that I care what the tag says, but that a lot of stores (the ones in my price range anyways ;-) ) moved their 6-8 down to a 2-4 and just dropped anything smaller so I'm stuck shopping in the kids sections. I don't care if the tag says 00 or 20, but some consistancy would make shopping a ton easier!

I guess the idea of going into size -1, -2, -3, etc. was scraped so instead, they just start making the 0's bigger, the 2's bigger...etc.

I wear the exact same size as I did in high school but if I were to try to put one leg in those jeans...I'd crack my head on the dresser as I'd crash to the floor.

I'm with you all about the vanity sizing and lack of consistancy in sizing. What I don't understand is why larger discount chains don't carry more of the smaller sizes. If your a 10 or 12, you've got your pick of anything in the store. Finding a size 6 is limiting, and forget about 4's or 2's! I guess they figure smaller women can use their food budget for clothing and shop at the higher-end shops.

I love Old Navy though. At lease they always have my size and I don't have to spend a fortune.

That cracked me up!!!!!!! :7 (Except I wouldn't want you hitting your head and hurting yourself! yikes!!)

I was in Vegas in December and found an awesome sale rack of the Cache' luxe things. I had to try everything on and inspect them for flaws, but I came away with a lot of things (Cache' speaking) for under $250.

There were some items with holes or tears or makeup stains, so I took a long time to examine and try on each item.

I have one Cache' luxe top I can't find. I am so scared I sent it to consignment. I consign many of my better clothing to have money for new things.

The last time I was Atlanta, I went to the Lenox Square Mall. OMG! I could not believe the Cartier and the Hermes! I remember there was a security guard at the Hermes store.

I did get to touch and feel a $10,000 Hermes purse -- but in retrospect now, since I almost never get out of the house, and if I could afford these things, what would I do, carry them around the house from room to room?

Atlanta is only a 30 to 45 min flight from my hometown, but I have not been there in over 2 years.

Where I live there is nothing, no Cache', Bebe, etc.

Why don't we all wear Burkas?

When the Taliban and Afghanistan were really, really in the news, "Time" Magazine wrote an article about designer Burkas.

The most popular Burkas were powder blue.

Fashion being fashion, I am sure the haute Burka color has changed.

I agree!

I used to purchase high end shoes and bags.

I also owned a lot of David Yurman jewelry.

But the best jewelry to me will always be found a Forever 21!

Where else can you take $25 and come away with a ton of trendy and fun jewelry?

Right now yellow is very in fashion -- so I bought some really cute plastic chunky yellow bracelets, longer necklaces and earrings for the season (as if I go anywhere).

I think the most I paid for anything was $5.80 for a chunky white plastic expandable bracelet with a huge yellow heart in the center.

It just wear it around the house for fun.

Yeah and its especially a pain when you have to walk half a mile to find an open dressing room in the store, just to find out you have to go back and get a different sizex(

Oh, no...I HAVE recently seen sizes that are negatives. Size -1X Zero, -2X Zero, -3X Zero. I posted about this about a month or so ago and just couldn't believe that these are actual sizes. I guess the way I look at it, if someone wears a size negative extra zero, they should be folding in on themselves.

Perhaps I should try on some of these "smaller" sizes. I might not even realize that I'm back to being a size 3 again (which was the size of my dress for senior prom twenty years ago)! Ha Ha!
